y’all know about the AO3 search hack for only getting fics with a single pairing listed, right? Just click on the pairing tag you want, and then filter and put “otp:true” in the ‘search within results’ box and BAM. Nothing but fics with that one pairing. Heaven.
Hello there ! It's the return of the french girl a bit lost that you already helped earlier :) I was wondering (and maybe you know) why is there like 9 episodes the 13th season of Murdoch Mysteries available for the moment ? I thought it was broadcasted since the beginning of september ? Is the 13th season shorter, or is there a cut in the broadcast ? Do you know when we will have a 10th episode ? Thank you very much !! =)
Ah yes... the mid-season break! Here in North America all major network shows (which includes our most beloved Murdoch Mysteries series) begin each season at some point in early to mid-September airing, most usually, once a week but on the odd occasion they will skip a week here or there (most often on weeks that contain a Stat holiday or to accommodate a once-a-year special such as the Oscars/Grammies/Tonys/Some-Random-Canadian-Award-Show/Some-Once-A-Year-Sports-Event).
Then, near the end of November, all network shows have what is known as their "Fall Finale". It's kind of like the major showstopper song right before intermission that Broadway shows have (ie. — Wicked's "Defying Gravity", "One Day More" from Les Mis, or Rent's "Season of Love") and then no new episodes are aired throughout the month of December for any major network show. This frees up airtime for all the major networks to air a gazillion Holiday Specials instead." Holiday Specials" includes all kinds of televised events — from the live airing of the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade to football games (in America) and the World Junior's Hockey Championship (in Canada). And, of course, all the many, many, many classic (and not-so-classic) Holiday movies. Oh! — and the reality show that started all reality shows — "Survivor" is one of the few (sometimes only) shows that will start and end a new season during this "winter break" that the Primetime network shows have.
All the major network shows (almost) always return in the new year with new episodes (on a few occasions, like every 4 or 8 years their is a writers strike that will prevent the network shows from returning — such is the reason why their is a season of "House, MD" that only has 13 episodes instead of its usual 24-26 episodes).
For example, Murdoch Mysteries is scheduled to return with a new episode (ep. 10) on January 6th, 2020. Most major network shows will return that same week or the following week with new episodes as well. This marks the beginning of the second half of the "Primetime" network season and, depending on the show, there will be anywhere from 10-14 more episodes before the season concludes. Some shows will end their season before the televised "March Madness" basketball event thing that pretty much takes over the month of March for the USA based networks (ie. NBC) but for those shows that do not end before March they will almost all take a mini-break during March in which they do not sure any new episodes. They will then return in April for their final 2-4 episodes. However, due to Murdoch Mysteries being a Canadian network show they are usually not affected by "March Madness" (as it is a USA based sporting event) and if they still have new episodes remaining in their season they will (usually) continue to air them throughout March until their finale.
All major network shows that did not finish their season prior to the "March Madness" basketball event will wrap their season up at some point In April. May through to August is considered the summer break for the "Primetime" Network shows and in their place we are treated to new seasons of reality tv! From the beginning of May to the end of August the major networks fill their timeslots with new seasons of shows such as "Hell's Kitchen", "Masterchef", "Big Brother", "America's Got Talent", "Survivor", "Jersey Shore", etc. etc.
(And yes, "Survivor" is the only reality show I know that has two babe new seasons a year. One season airs during the "Christmas Break" — late November through to the end of December —and the other season in the middle of the "Summer Break" — usually mid-June to late-July/early-August — hence why this summer Survivor will be celebrating both its 20th Year Anniversary as well as its 40th season with an cast full of ALL PREVIOUS WINNERS!! And it's gonna be FREAKIN' AMAZEBALLS!!!)
Holy crapola Batman! This turned out way, way, WAY longer than I intended it to be. I hope I managed to clear up any confusion you had pertaining the airing schedule of the seasons (but I fear I may have made it more confusing by accident! If I did then I am terribly sorry!)
Thanks for coming to my TedTalk!! My hope is that someone, somewhere, leaves here tonight having learned (or is it "learnt"?) at least one new thing (however useless—or useful!!) from my ramblings that they did not know prior to this evening. [/word vomit rant — of (useless) knowledge!]
After much discussion in the kakasaku group chat over the lack of darker fandom content, I’ve decided to put together a little fest. It will take place during the entire month of February, and each week has a theme plus four prompts. That means there are a total of 20 inspirations - 20 for 2020!
Feel free to interpret any of the themes or prompts as you like. If you want to create something for every theme and prompt, go for it. If only one prompt fits your fancy, that’s awesome, too. Switch it up and go for the fluff if creating dark content isn’t what moves you. You can even mix and match the weekly prompts and themes - or ignore the themes altogether! This fest is meant to foster creativity, not limit it.
While this fest is meant to be as casual and easy as possible, I do have a couple ground rules.
This is a kakasaku fest, so if your content contains pairings, kakasaku must be the focus. This does not mean you have to feature both Sakura and Kakashi; Sakura-centric or Kakashi-centric content is acceptable
Please appropriately tag for possible triggers or squicks, especially non-con, dub-con, or underage
Tag any content you create for the fest with #ksdesirefest20 so that I can include your work in a weekly master post!
When I explain cultural misappropriation to children, I use the example of The Nightmare Before Christmas.
It’s effective because especially for children, who don’t have enough historical context to understand much of the concept, you can still fully grasp the idea.
There was nothing wrong with Jack seeing the beauty and differences in Christmas town, it’s when he tried to take what is unique about Christmas town away from those it originally belonged to without understanding the full context of Christmas things is when everything went wrong.
When Jack tries to get the folk of Halloween town to make Christmas gifts for children, etc., children understand that the Halloween town folk do not have the full context for the objects they are making, and they are able to see that the direct repercussions and consequences are very harmful.

So, when my maternal grandmother died, we had to find loving, permanent homes for all five of her cats because otherwise she would have risen from the grave to kill the entire family. We took in Chloe because Chloe was my grandmother’s favorite, and she made my mom promise to look after her. Now my mother treats Chloe like her third child, and the cat is basically plastered to her 24/7 when she isn’t hiding from some imagined enemy like the dustbuster or my dad’s footsteps.
Anyway, we wound up giving the rest of the cats to this couple that runs a joint called Kitty Korner. They try to find loving homes for all the cats they take in, but will care for the unadoptables (read: assholes) for the rest of their lives. That’s great, because one of the cats we gave to these poor women was Tobey. I have no idea why my grandmother ever adopted Tobey. He was a huge schmuck. The most handsome orange tomcat you ever saw, and he loved to crawl in your lap. But if you ever tried to touch him, he would switch immediately into Kill Mode and you could say goodbye to your hand. Needless to say, having him in your lap was awkward. It was like holding a bomb.
Kitty Korner sends us detailed letters every year to give us updates on how Tobey’s doing. Basically, they are status reports on how much of a douche Tobey is and continues to be. These women are saints. I guess they really like cats, because these letters are like a full page of single-spaced text. But more or less, they amount to:
2003: Tobey has a real colorful personality! But, uh, we don’t think he’s suited for adoption yet
2004: Nope, still not suited for adoption
2005: I think this is pretty much a lost cause
2006: WTF
2007: Tobey is trying to kill us and every other cat in the house
2008: Tobey is still trying to kill us and every other cat in the house
2009: Tobey is a vicious dictator and can only find pleasure in the subjugation of other organisms
BUT!!!! The past few years, Tobey has apparently been making steady improvement. And in our most recent letter, we have been informed that he is no longer doing things like venturing upstairs expressly to beat the living shit out of the other cats at Kitty Korner. He will also let you pet him, and when he’s had enough he’ll give a warning nip instead of removing your limb. In fact, Tobey, at a ripe old age of 14, is ready for a new home! With an experienced cat owner, comes the necessary caveat, and like… no kids. At all. Ever. Or other cats, probably. But at least he’s no longer a psychopath.
Thank you very much for your answer to my question !! (The gif you posted with Detective Watts from Murdoch Mysteries saying to a man with a gun "what are you waiting for ?", which episode is it from ??) I had not hear about this little series ! It seems that it works well event in my country (I'm French), so I'm gonna catch it up now :) Thank you again !
You're welcome!! And I'm very glad it works for you. Enjoy!! 😃
Heres a tiny idea that was supposed to be a fic at first but that im too embarrassed to put any actual effort into properly so its now just a thing to make myself cry in my head
