You might find your god in marble pillars and leaping bonfires. You might find Them on a trip to somewhere far away, where everything seems far more impressive simply because it is new.
But go back to your home and the little plants by the sidewalk and the tiny stream that flows only after a heavy rain. Go back to the moss on old bricks and the sunlight shining through your kitchen. Close your eyes and listen to the song the robins sing and the volumes the cicadas speak at night. Place your hand to your wrist or neck and feel your heartbeat.
Your god is there within the tiny things of everyday life. Grand temples and museums cannot hold Them in one place. Gods are vast–They are too Much to be in just a few things. Instead, They are scattered. Instead, They are numerous. You do not need to look far away to find Them.

How to get on good terms with the local spirits
From my experience… so it’s pretty plant-focused.
Pick up trash.
Give some water to the plants occasionally, especially during hot and dry days.
Flatter them. If you think a plant is really pretty, you can just say it out loud and they will love it.
Pay attention to which areas are off-limits and avoid them. Try to feel if you get bad vibes in a certain place and stay out of them so you don’t piss off the locals.
Give in return for whatever you take. Even if you’re just weeding, pour out some water or leave coins.
Reduce waste. Whatever you don’t use, give back to the land. You can make a compost pile, or toss scraps of plants into the yard so they can decompose and bring new life.
Don’t mow your lawn, if it’s possible for you to avoid it. If you have to, give a warning beforehand, or make an offering in apology to the plants.

I don’t really know what people generally call this method of sigil making, so I’m just calling it “Letter Shaping” because you’re using the basic shapes from certain letters. This is the most common form of sigil making, and it allows the most creative influence. As you see above the sigils are for nearly the same thing, yet the sigils came out completely different. Not because the purpose was different, but because I approached them both a different creative way, and that’s what I like so much about this method. There’s a lot of freedom and personalization involved.
(UPDATE: Here’s a link to a guide on how to deconstruct letters down to basic shapes)

Supermoon Wish Jars
To help harness the energy of the supermoon, or any full moon, to help your wishes come true, here’s a fun little project you can do by yourself or with your witchy friends. This also makes a nice activity for esbats that doesn’t require a lot of setup.
Materials:
Small Jar with tight-fitting lid
White or Black candle
Incense of your choice
Herbs and Items representing your wish
Find a clear space to work. Make sure it’s free of fire hazards. If possible, try to work near a window through which you can see the moon. (If you don’t have one, that’s all right too, since you’ll be setting the jar out for the moonlight when finished.) Light your candle and choice of incense and get to work.
Select herbs and trinkets which fit inside the jar to represent your wish. For example, if your wish is for money or prosperity, you might include coins or metallic glitter or small craft gems. If your wish is for health, you might include vitamin pills or a charm representing medicine.
Check your books for herbs or crystals that correspond to your wish as well, to give the jar plenty of oomph. The contents of the jar can be whatever you want. Use the materials that resonate best with you.
Some basic herbs for wishmaking include:
Bamboo
Bay Leaf
Beech
Black Walnut
Blue Violet
Buckthorn
Chicory Root
Dandelion Seeds
Dogwood Petals
Lotus Root
Nutmeg
Peppermint
Pomegranate
Sage Leaf (any color)
Sandalwood
Spearmint
Straw
Sunflower
Tonka Bean
Walnut
Willow Bark or Leaves
Once your jar is complete, drip three drops of wax from the candle into the jar and circle the mouth of the jar three times with the incense. Then seal the jar and place the jar somewhere that it will be touched by the light of the full moon and leave it overnight.
The jar should work for about a month, or slightly longer if you’re working with a supermoon. When the next full moon rolls around, you can recharge the jar by leaving it out overnight again, or make a new jar with a new wish.
Happy Witching!

Greek Mythology | Hecate
Hecate or Hekate is a goddess in Ancient Greek religion and mythology, most often shown holding two torches or a key and in later periods depicted in triple form. She was variously associated with crossroads, entrance-ways, dogs, light, magic, witchcraft, knowledge of herbs and poisonous plants, ghosts, necromancy, and sorcery. She was one of the main deities worshiped in Athenian households as a protective goddess and one who bestowed prosperity and daily blessings on the family.
The first literature mentioning Hecate is the Theogony by Hesiod:
Hecate whom Zeus the son of Cronos honored above all. He gave her splendid gifts, to have a share of the earth and the unfruitful sea. She received honor also in starry heaven, and is honored exceedingly by the deathless gods. For to this day, whenever any one of men on earth offers rich sacrifices and prays for favor according to custom, he calls upon Hecate. Great honor comes full easily to him whose prayers the goddess receives favorably, and she bestows wealth upon him; for the power surely is with her. For as many as were born of Earth and Ocean amongst all these she has her due portion. The son of Cronos did her no wrong nor took anything away of all that was her portion among the former Titan gods: but she holds, as the division was at the first from the beginning, privilege both in earth, and in heaven, and in sea.

Scents associated with Hecate?
I love to incorporate scents into my practice, and I’ve been wondering what scents you generally associate with Hecate? I’ve been using a lavender scented candle for quite some time, and it worked quite well, but I’m mainly looking for inspiration to perhaps chamge things up a bit. Incense is unfortunately not an option for me in my current living situation, so I’m looking more for scented candle (or even perfume/fragrance!) recommendations. I do have a Yankee Candle shop nearby, so if there are any scents to be found there that could be useful for me? That would be amazing.
Thank you so much!
