ironically i am working right now so i can’t do a full post on this like i would really prefer to do… but these are the most cartoonishly evil people that you could possibly imagine, even in a society as flawed as the one we’ve built for ourselves. these are bedrock groups devoted to protecting the american worker and consumer. massive huge giant waving red flags 🚩

"So much of the current anti-trans rhetoric hides behind language of “concern.” If you’re a parent or other supportive adult who is earnestly concerned about a young person, that language can make you feel like seeking support that may or does include gender-affirming care for a trans youth isn’t a wise or caring decision. This is the exact reason that language is being used.
Think back to anti-abortion rhetoric, for example, to the bills that force waiting periods (waiting periods we know only make things more difficult for those seeking abortion) deceptively stating they are out of “concern” that the people seeking abortions are rushing their decision. It’s the same thing with trans care; “concern” is used to introduce a (often poorly disguised) barrier to care, in hopes of eventually making that care inaccessible.
I’m going to go over some of the clues that a resource or person’s only concern is directing people away from trans-affirming care and towards harmful, anti-trans spaces or approaches.
I’ll get to the list in a second, but my biggest piece of advice is: If a resource, person, or service presents being trans as the result of trauma, social contagion, peer pressure or of literally anything other than one of the many ways humans experience gender, do not pass go."

Oh dang there was a case in 2020
It got tossed ultimately in 2021, but I’m glad someone tried.
Ok hear me out I don’t think that we should allow them to be called “Fox News” anymore… Like I’m not even saying that “Fox News” shouldn’t exist because free-speech sure sure sure…
But maybe we should force them to be labeled something like Fox conservative political propaganda machine, white fundie jerk fest & boomer brain rotting network. Just seems like it’s a better idea to me.

You know, a poor person doing some thing illegal out of desperation and survival has never been morally on the same plane as a rich person who does something illegal for funsies, greed, or hateful, selfish reasons.
I think we all know this.
We’re just not allowed to talk about that too much, on account of the fact that the whole US modern existence is built on the richest profiting off of the whole prison industrial complex as the replacement and living legacy of chattel slavery, of course.
But no, no, we just spend our time with “moral quandaries“ and “ethical dilemmas” in philosophy 101 or intro to politics discussions if it is immoral to steal bread to feed your family.
Like are you fucking kidding me? Why would you have to STEAL to feed your family in the first place? What conditions got you there?
They make us debate about if it’s amoral to steal bread to feed your family because they don’t want us to discuss the fact that every fucking thing here is sitting on stolen land and a foundation built from stolen labor.

Remember that very popular post that pointed out how Republicans would never allow libraries if they were invented in the current era; that they would be seen as complete socialist garbage, or whatever… I think in our zeal of realizing that, we almost forgot the fact that the excrement filled heads of the right were also capable of trying to turn their kind against the existing libraries right now.
Tumblr media
So Fox News ran a story about how they think libraries are turning into drug-infested sex dens and I am shocked, shocked that I was never offered any drugs during my 15+ years working in libraries.

I got very loudly deadnamed and misgendered multiple times at the doctors office today. This new receptionist ignored the preferred name on my profile to deadname and misgender me loudly, louder than she talked about anyone else in the waiting room. My birth certificate says "F" nex to sex, my medical documentation reflects this, and I was still deadnamed and misgendered.
And the saving grace was a woman and her child. I wear cat-ears and the child too young to speak loved them, and kept pointing and looking at me. I'm assuming her mother kept saying "yeah, she's wearing cat-ears", "yeah, that woman has cute cat-ears", and the like. Her child was enamoured with them, and that woman didn't misgender me once. And each time my very obviously masculine deadname name came up, she looked upset at the receptionist, but not once did she give me a bad look.
It doesn't have to be much. You don't need to be a knight in shining armour, or in someones face. Simply a quiet refusal to play along with someone elses bullshit is enough. It was enough to turn a trying and tiring moment into something that put a smile on my face and joy back into my life. It wasn't a lot but it mattered to me.

Heating pad/ Chronic pain PSA
Heating pads can burn you.
They can burn you quite badly.
I saw a post the here other day that asked how to “get rid of heating pad marks.”
Folks. If you have “heating pad marks” those are burns. And they can become much, much worse if you continue to use a heating pad on the same area of your body.
I know most folks with chronic pain scoff when we read the warnings on a heating pad. “Don’t lie on this pad.” Yeah. Sure. Lying on it is exactly the main thing you’ll be doing.
But please. Please always have a layer of protective fabric between the pad and your skin. Never, ever use a pad directly on your bare skin.
Never fall asleep on a heating pad. I know it’s easy to do, but you’re much more at risk for getting a bad burn when you’re asleep.
And never combine use of a heating pad with a topical analgesic (like Icy Hot, A535, Tiger Balm, Voltaren, Lakota creams or roll ons, essential oils or any other topical pain reliever) the oils and plant compounds in these products will accelerate burns. Do not apply anything to your skin and then use a heating pad.
And if you burn your skin, take a break from using the heating pad. I know that’s hard because many of us rely so heavily on them for pain management.
But you can permanently damage your skin by repeatedly burning it and dramatically increase your risk of cancer by doing so.
Be careful.
Please reblog this for the chronically ill folks in your life/ who follow you who use a heating pad

Science is not apolitical. Researcher bias is real and there are many instances where racist, homophobic, and misogynistic scientists have slanted data (often subconsciously) due to their worldview and bigots use this to justify their hatred. Science is an impressive tool for understanding the world but any tool can be misused and being a scientist does not automatically immunize someone against their internal biases or the prejudices that exist in their societal milieu.

there’s a decent amt of neurologists who’ve called the sleep schedules we’re obligated to be on despite flagrant conflict with our natural circadian rhythms “borderline torture” and the work hours we’re expected to put in despite the fact that the average person can only maintain maximal efficiency and focus for 3 hours at a time “nearly inhumane” and i think about that a lot

I have to make enough content that reminds my “year I was born starts with 20…” followers that I’m knocking on the door of my 4th decade and pretty pumped about it.
Fun fact from the future, you will change and you wouldn’t even believe what all you’ll learn still and grow to become ❤️ the best part is the realizing you really can always grow.
