Daleks: An Unofficial & Unauthorised Guide
After a long, long time in the edit, the latest version of my unofficial guide to the Daleks from Doctor Who is available on my web site. There are low-res (13 MB) and high-res (88 MB) versions available and the current version weighs in at 139 pages of content.
At some stage I need to update it with more stuff from the latest series’ of the programme, Big Finish Productions audio releases and novels but it should be okay for now!
Also, I need to get cracking on that history section that’s missing ...
My Dalek site is still available and has most of the “book”’s content on. There are also some design sheets, hierarchy sheets and lego instructions available to download.

UNIT Logo (2015) Design
I couldn’t find a good image of the new UNIT logo as seen in 2015′s run of Doctor Who episodes. So I put my own together. It’s not exact but it’s near enough for me.

007 Licence Renewed Cover Design
Last week I finally started to work my way onto cover designs for the James Bond 007 continuation novels. I’ve been re-reading the John Gardner books and have only got as far as the fourth, so these will come slowly!
I wanted a sort of “Bond is Back” feel to the cover, which is why I actually have a silhouette of the man on the cover and have tried to emphasize a “007″ motif with the radiological signs and the different shading on the hind leg.

Colonel Sun Cover Design
The first authorised James Bond novel published after Ian Fleming’s Death was Colonel Sun by Kingsley Amis. When first published, the author was credited as “Robert Markham”. The intention at the time was that a number of different authors would write the Bond books but a single name would be used on the covers - hence Markham.
This is my attempt at a cover for the novel, as part of my “produce covers for James Bond novels” design challenge.

James Bond 007 Logo Design
Thought I’d share the two versions of the James Bond 007 logo I put together for use on the book covers I’ve been designing. Simple, but I think it works.
For those interested in such things, you can see my thought process and workings over on my other blog.

Batgirl (Inspired by Yvonne Craig)
Here’s an attempt to capture an Yvonne Craig-esque Batgirl. This isn’t an attempt to capture the woman herself as I am not capable of such feats. But her passing and my memories of the character on the television show prompted me to want to sketch something. So here it is.

Bevis was definitely right too. Comissioned this for my wife.
As a kid, I always preferred Batman the TV show when Batgirl was in it. Sad news.
Tumblr media
Originally this commission was going to feature pre-52 Batgirl, Nu-52 Batgirl and new Nu-52 Batgirl but I realised once looking at the pre and post 52 outfits that they aren’t really terribly different, so I suggested if we were going to go for the three definitive versions of Barbara Gordon as Batgirl that we should really include Yvonne Craig as well. That was greeting with much enthusiasm and so that’s what I went with.
I’m so glad I did. She was a joy to draw, nearly as much as she was to watch.

Spider Dalek & Marine Dalek
I came across the Spider Dalek in the (seemingly hated) John Peel novel War of the Daleks which was part of the Eighth Doctor range of novels.
I’ve seen several designs for the casing over the years but none have matched what I had in my head. This one, which I put together, does.
The same novel features Marine Daleks. Based on the description - this is what I came up with.
You can find more in the Designs section of my Dalek website!

Self Portrait for Avatar Usage
At some point around the time of the Stratos Secret Santa posted a minute ago, I drew this self portrait for use as an avatar (which I coloured in January 2010).
It seems I had a go-to rough pose in my head since this is similar to the previous one!

Stratos Secret Santa
This Stratos was drawn as part of the old Geek Syndicate forums’ Secret Santa for 2009. Hence the mistletoe spear!
I was really happy at the time as it was one of the few drawings I did at the time without any kind of pose reference.
I still like it. Despite (in particular) the very dodgy leg and foot anatomy!

Half a Cyber Head
I have this one printed and in a clip frame on my wall. Bit of a re-design of the humble Cyberman featuring elements that harken back to the sixties, eighties and have a few new elements too.

Robin Hood
A version of Robin Hood. That spear-like thing ... is meant to be a bow. Didn’t quite get the perspective or shape right at all. Happy with the rest though.

The Spy Who Loved Me Cover Design
I quite like the simplicty of this design that I made for Ian Fleming’s James Bond 007 - The Spy Who Loved Me. Simple and stark.

Barbara Gordon - Oracle
My wife’s favourite comic character is Barbara Gordon - particularly in Oracle mode. Back when we were just friends, I drew her this. I’ve since slapped it onto an Oracle themed background I knocked up in Adobe Photoshop.
