Broken Monday - Underground Walkway Some fun quick concept art for yet another personal what if IP(I have a lot, most invented as a kid) Prints https://www.inprnt.com/gallery/derek.weselake/broken-monday-underground-walkway/ This is basically an open world rpg shooter in a post apocalyptic occult world overrun by demons, a world setting inspired by Megami Tensei/SMT from the mid 80s and Genma Wars from the 60s with combat similar to The Division, and map layouts similar to the souls series. I have a feeling most people here would compare the setting/mood to Shadowrun from the late 80s that I don't have much experience with haha but check out the 2 series I mention above for the real inspirations The world didn't completely end, it was ravaged by Demons, and in response nuclear weapons, and as a result messed up weather and earthquakes; so while there is plenty still functioning, with 3/4 of the human population gone and a complicated relationship with Demons, the world is a hostile chaotic place. Idea would be that you can play as either a human or a civilized Demon, find out the truth of what happened, hunt feral demons, take down bandits, join factions, loot, ect. For the first game it would take place in Japan, probably starting in Osaka, and later Kyoto, and Tokyo. Osaka makes a wonderful area for an Apocalypse, it is filled with bizarre buildings, and a convoluted assortment of passageways and overpasses.

Some linework style concept art for an fps arena in an ip of mine, kept away from guard rails so you can leap around like an idiot. Tried keeping it clear enough so that you could keep your eyes on the combat but visually interesting enough so that you don't get bored. Inspired by my trip to Europe last year :) When you enter the Hard Cosmic you travel world to world to compete in Unreal/Quake style Arena fps matches as well as Wipeout/F-Zero style AG races, The name is intentionally silly, as if an alien mashed their favorite human words together and named a tournament it.

It's essentially a universe like ours with no defined time period spanning several made up but inspired locations/cultures. I will likely make a series of sketches, Illustrations, and concepts of this world that feel hopefully feel comforting, sentimental, and or nostalgic. If it was a game it would likely be a series of life sims like Harvest Moon meets Shenmue.

A city of over a billion people and unable to expand outward any further, Numerous of the Skyscrapers exceeding over a mile high, with districts on plates and bridges attached and held up between several major buildings. This is an area at the top of the city, this part of the top level is inspired by 80s and 90s scifi anime. The mood was inspired by spending a lot of time atop of observatories, helipads, ect in major cities in the evening just as the sun is under the horizon and the lights start to turn on, also the walkway is loosely inspired by the feeling of this area in Tokyo called Decks, that's sort of like an amusement park/mall facing the water.

AENiGMA- The Floating World - Luminescent Textiles

Concept Design of a textile shop located in a Japan inspired level within my personal IP AENiGMA

A fight occurs here so I made sure to have it open yet still follow a building plan similar to what they would have in edo era Japan with my own twists.

This is a Textile/Kimono shop where you can buy clothing that gently dances in and out of it's luminescence thanks to a special chemical mixed with ink

Development Notes: I spent several months living in Japan, during that time I visited several museums where I sketched and talked to guides to get a better understanding of historical Japanese architecture and living. This in turn inspired me to make a fantasy Edo Japan inspired level for my personal project, blending historical accuracy with many of my own spin. For mood I was inspired by trips to hot spring villages.

Concept art for a Japan inspired level in my personal(what if) over the top hack n slash video game. While the massive city of Jonada and town of Ridgewood are in the future real world and act as explorable hubs, you go into these worlds much like you would in Mario/Gex/Persona/Psychonaughts, These levels are not meant to be a specific period in time or place but more the collective leftover memories and nostalgia of the world, so weather, time of day, ect may change drastically as you proceed through them. The idea is to carefully weave between nostalgia and surprise. Evangelion Live Action Movie Concept Fan Art  Fighting off a cold so thought I'd do some relaxing and nostalgic. Fake concept keyframe art for what a live action Neon Genesis Evangelion could look like. This is during the fight with the 4th Angel. Evangelion was the first anime series I ever owned(followed by Berserk), I was about 8 or 9 years old, and they were badly subbed VHS from china town. Since then I have probably watched the series at least once every 2 years or more, and I for whatever reason even wrote papers on it in college. I have been a huge fan of Star Wars all my life. I didn't read any of the books(aside from some comics) or anything like that but I re-watched the movies and played the games over and over and over. I wanted to be a bounty hunter that just happens to know how to use a lightsaber haha.
