I enjoy Wednesday the show well enough and Wenclair the pairng quite a lot but there's two recurring elements in the latter that do rankle me a bit.
1. Portraying Enid as someone who violates Wednesday's boundaries, often seen in text posts.
This rankles cos its both unpleasant to see Wednesday have someone force their presence on her in such a way. But also because a huge aspect of Enid's character & their relationship is that she makes it a point to respect Wednesday's boundaries. Even when they're furious and fighting she never crosses Wednesday's lines or into her space.
2. Portraying Enid as someone who bows to Wednesday's whims, often seen in text post & art.
I legit have no idea how anyone could reach this conclusion of her character or their dynamic when its almost the opposite. Wednesday will say something unnecessarily rude, or make some unreasonable demand and Enid will check her on it. If Wednesday wants help with her task, she'd better apologize to Thing.
She's perfectly fine with accommodating Wednesday's personality and needs even while trying to include her in events outside her usual comfort zone. But she also recognizes the difference between Wednesday being herself and just being a jerk and doesn't let the latter slide. Its by and large the main reason Wednesday grew as a person at all while at Nevermore.
Conclusion:
So yeah, I dunno, I just wish the fanon around them reflected those aspects more.

YES. I think the biggest thing that’s helped me in writing her is thinking of Enid as someone who *will* grow to be a very strong, intelligent person—not that she isn’t already of course, but it’s in the sense that, right now, she’s still just figuring it out because she is only 16. Like she’s a sophomore. A lot of her awkwardness also just comes from finally being away from home and having an individual identity at Nevermore. Immaturity doesn’t always mean dumb, for instance. It can also just mean someone mid-bloom.
Sometimes I really don't like how Enid is written in fanfiction, especially things to do with Wenclair.
I feel as if they really minimalise her character into the very 'obvious' aspects of her character (e.g her bubbly personality + all around friendliness).
I do think people forget that she is extremely smart, emotionally especially. She's also not afraid to stand up for herself and speak her mind - she's not scared of Wednesday.
People do tend to make the mistake of using her ability to show her emotions openly as a weakness when the whole point is that it's not. As, if you really think about it, one of Wednesday's weaknesses is that she bottles up her emotions, causing her to feel somewhat ashamed of herself when she does show any.
Also, Enid isn't helpless. She's actually a very strong-willed person. From the get go, she's not afraid to stand up to Wednesday or speak out when she thinks Wednesday is being weird. We've seen other characters beat around the bush when it comes to talking to Wednesday, scared to say the wrong thing, but Enid has never done that.
This is just my opinion.

:/ sorry to hear about your grandparents house. We used to be little rat bastards on the Jori Discord and I'm a big fan of your writing. From one Internet stranger to another I hope you and your family are doin okay. ALSO THE LITTLE KITTIES. I hope you got my donation!
-Anastacia
Thank-you Anastacia! Everybody’s doing okay, and it’s the holidays, so family from across the States were coming over anyway. It’s just unfortunate.
Anyway, thanks again. (The donation did go through, btw.) It’s a big help to have the support. :)
Happy Holidays!

From the fanfic "driving to my house in the middle of the night" by AtomicJellyb3an on AO3
Recently read this and absolutely loved it. The story is about Enid moving into a new house that's haunted by multiple spirits and Wednesday is a ghost hunter that will be expelling one type of ghost every week. It's hilarious and very heartfelt. Definitely one of my favorites.
