The discussion over whether or not Vil suppressing Epel's dialect means that he holds classist beliefs will never not be funny to a Scarabia stan like me because if we assume that, yes, Vil IS classist, then his behaviour throughout the entirety of Book 5 in relation to Kalim and Jamil kind of becomes the most ironic thing to anyone who knows that classism, racism and xenophobia often intersect:

Vil, the most Aryan to ever Aryan white blonde German-inspired character, desperately wants to win the VDC and thus will select his group members based on who can best help him achieve his goal.

They turn out to be NRC's Token Brown Arabs.

Seriously. Vil had to be convinced by Rook to give ADeuce a chance but he didn't even hesitate when it came to choosing Kalim and Jamil because from the start he saw their superior abilities and that was all that mattered to him. Him giving ADeuce derisive nicknames like Potato 1 and 2 but always addressing Kalim and Jamil by their names is an extension of this.

He then went further by making Jamil one of the main vocalists and giving him his very own solo during Absolutely Beautiful, in which it was visually shown that Vil had to literally step aside for Jamil to take center stage and perform for the audience.

So, in simple terms: Vil, who's considered classist for suppressing a country dialect and who in our world would most likely be German...

Also had no reservations about choosing his two school mates who in our world would most likely be Arab to be part of his band.

Then he assigned one of said classmates as a main vocalist.

And THEN he created a full dance routine that had said classmate take center stage and perform a solo.

Which in the context of this being a performance for an event German boy was so desperate to win that he eventually resorted to attempting to poison his rival meant that he was confident enough in the looks and abilities of a visually brown, ethnically and culturally Arab boy that he believed that him temporarily becoming the main singer during their dance number was the best decision to make in terms of what would lead them to their victory.

Like. I find it funny that, if we expand our analysis beyond the Vil-Epel dynamic, we get a guy who people draw comparisons to real classist behaviour regarding country dialects, but that if we applied these same real-life standards to his behaviour towards the Scarabia boys we'd end up with an ethnically German and culturally Western white guy who has no prejudices whatsoever against his ethnically and culturally Arab brown school mates.

Coming home early from work to see Vil covered in the blood of that one particularly rude neighbour of yours. Said neighbour is on the couch. And on the love seat. He’s on the walls, the rugs and the table, he’s even splattered across your floorboards. He is smeared all over Vil’s body and clothes as though your husband has made himself into some sort of canvas of blood-stained horror and insanity. But he’s smiling at you and rambling at you so breathlessly, as though drunk on some strange and terrifying state of euphoria. All the while his cheeks are flushed furiously pink, as though being caught red-handed like this has excited him.

“Oh, my darling, my sweet lovely~ I didn’t expect you to be home so soon! Shall I prepare lunch for two? Ah, don’t worry about our guest, he’s all over the place at the moment, and he doesn't seem to have much of an appetite either,”

Vil gestures a dripping red hand towards the severed stomach laying on your coffee table. It’s surrounded by a pool of blood that is slowly pouring down the table leg onto your new rug. You’d always wondered why he was constantly buying new ones, you’d never thought to investigate since he was always using his own money. Perhaps you should have been paying closer attention.

rumours spread, and they spread fast

the first years bad mouthing each other, while being plastic face to face was the top rumour in the boring school

well some people's voices are louder than others, which caused the dormleaders to hear about the debacle

suddenly jack and yuu were dating

then they broke up

apparently she cheated with deuce

the epel went after jack

but jack stayed single

but they seemed fine, all seemed well. after all they were hanging around the cafeteria

the six were messing around and doing trust falls, as everybody but ace went suddenly he heard

"oh my god it's his dream come true, diving into a big pile of boys" yuu snickered

"ok well yeah I have something" he mutters

"so I have this friend who is a new student this year, and I convinced him that it would be fun to mess up yuu's life" he announces then takes a deep breath

"so I had him pretend to be friends with yuu and then he would come over to my dorm to laugh all about the dumb stuff they said" he paused

"and we gave them these candy bar things that would make them gain weight, and we turned their bestfriends against them" he points at deuce and sebek

"oh yeah then epel ,you guys know my friend epel" he points to epel

"he made out with yuu's boyfriend and then convinced him to break up with them. oh god then we gave you foot cream instead of face cream" he laughs

"god haaah. I am so sorry yuu, I don't know why I did it" he says sarcastically

"I guess it's probably because I have a big GAY crush on your boyfriend. suck on that!" he yelled jumping to the other's arms as they hold him up and throwing him in the air chanting his name

yuu storms out, but before reaching the exit epel went after them

"yuu! yuu wait I didn't mean for that to happen" he says

"finding out that everybody hates me? I don't care" they kept walking

"yuu please! yuu stop!"

"AHH! do you know what everybody says about you? they say that you're a homeschool village freak whose a less hot version of me!" yuu exclaimed

"so don't try to act all innocent"

"so you can take that fake apology and shove it up your hairy! you know what forget it!" they stormed out

aged up? but like it's not mentioned, more so to cover up the fact that i forgot minors can't have apartments (is that correct? idk)

cheating is a terrible crime, and it's hard to confront someone who did such sins

every soft touches linger, I know that. But instead of it being comforting, it disgusts me to no end

just thinking of those passionate kisses shared by us two, the days spent in each others arms and those sweet nothings whispered, in which I thought was exclusive to myself

thinking back at it, I grew up as a hopeless romantic, as my parents were the embodiment of pure love. I had thought that I will receive the same fate

so those letters he sent me, messages with comforting words that makes my head spin and stomach have butterflies. I saved all of them and compiled them in a folder

as cheesy as it sounds. this folder is very dear to me, as it comforts me through hard times and I find myself flipping through the pages as if it were a romance novel

when we met, it was love at first sight. I was sure of it, he was sure of it and made me feel as such

so why? the betrayal was such an unexpected thing. we were happy, we were both following our dreams

the news was a shock, yes. but it didn't really sink in up until later. the evidence, the picture of my lover's infidelity

confiding in my family and friends, I heard the same thing

"he's blind to not see your worth, a diamond in the rough"

but I didn't listen, I didn't let him in, actually 'I couldn't' was the right words

after that my apartment had looked, bare. as if I was just moving in, maybe even out

"no- please forgive me. I promise that this time I will not mess anything up, I won't break your heart this time around" he swears

"you yourself cannot trust your own decisions and thoughts. so why would I, someone who you already deceived, mislead and forsaken, pour my trust in the broken vessel you call promises?" you breathed in

"You had made your bed, sleep in it. this was the path you chose, this was not destined. your infidelity will be the reason of your current suffering"

I Don't Wanna Live Forever

lying on his bed with so much space to spare, it feels empty

not only the bed, the house too

scrolling through his phone hoping, wishing you'd call

going to another gig, his eyebags getting darker

he's always distracted, always on that damned phone

what is happening?

if vil were to be honest, he'd rather die than be ignored by you for another minute

without you it'd be pointless living

yes, he's one of the most sought out bachelor, but how could they ever compare to you?

when he's alone, he whispers your name. hoping you'd hear and come to him

and there you were, awake in the middle of the night pondering

did you make the right decision?

was he really bad, or were you just dramatic?

did you actually see red flags, or did you waste the man of you're dreams?

what is happening to you?

thinking life is worthless without him, but wasn't he bad for you?

searching up his name, almost as if to call out to him

paparazzi's from all news stations had probably gotten tired of taking your photo in the most luxurious clubs

you drunkenly going to the crowd to dance, staying still for a minute. then looking around all the peoples faces with a familiar gaze

but what they won't get tired of is following your cab home, only to find out the cab ended up in another actor's house

specifically your ex boyfriends house, vil

you getting out of the cab, then heading back in. giving the correct address

oh how big are these two's egos are. not willing to own up to their mistakes

not willing to be the first to succumb

insulting each other in the media, as if they don't crave each other

degrading each other, so the other submits

at this point no one knows if it's love or hate

is it yearning for each other, or yearning for a victim to abuse?

you got sent to another world by a mirror talking about a mission to save whomever

so you expected crazy things to happen once you were fully settled in

but not like this

yuu, yes that is her real name. was such a bitch

not anything petty like rumors, or hair pulling, not even tripping,

she hurts you physically, and you kept quiet about it. cause who'll ever believe the new-comer over the person who'd save them from their overblots?

so as the injuries got worse and worse, you could no longer treat it by yourself

so you went to the clinic to hopefully treat yourself without anyone knowing

flinching as you disinfect scars that looked like scratch marks. you sighed, as you haven't even applied cold compress to the bruises

you sluggishly walk to the mini fridge containing ice packs and kneeled

you hissed as one of the bigger bruise was on your knee, and no it doesn't look like you just 'tripped and fell' so you just hid it

you finally broke down. yes life back on earth wasn't easy, but at least there you wouldn't have these constant injuries

plus you were running out of excuses to tell everyone

you just wanted to be left alone. not wanting anyone to see you at your weakest

unfortunately, you went inside the lion's den

rustling of curtain dividers can be perceived as a scary noise. especially in this situation

so you hurriedly wiped away tears but wasn't fast enough

as leona saw and well heard

and you know that lion's are very territorial

"oi what are you crying about, you're ruining my nap" he said yawning

"nothing" you said turning around so you could preserve your last bit of pride

"i smell blood, don't lie" he said coming towards you

"no you don't, go away" making your figure as small as possible

you didn't hear anything for a while, so you assumed it was safe

standing up you fixed your hair and wiped what's left of your tears

you turned around only to be cornered by leona

"i smell blood on you" he said right in your face

he quickly reached for your arm, and there lies scars. old ones that already healed, and new one's that looked like scratch marks

"who did this" he was enraged yet didn't show it. who dares prey on his prey

you winced, as he was pressing his fingers on your injuries

"i- no one" you paused thinking of a reason "i was just clumsy"

he thought for a second, but lets go the next

so you quickly went back to your not so rundown anymore dorm

and waited for time to pass to head for class

leona was suspicious, of course as would anybody be in that situation

he became cautious of everyone around you

he was about to give up, until he realized

you were skirmish around yuu

and you weren't like that with literally anybody else

your eyes averting, thumbs fidgeting, body can't stand still

you were normal with him, with floyd, heck even with malleus

but why yuu?

he became suspicious with yuu

I mean it makes sense

he hadn't seen anyone bully or mistreat you anywhere

in fact you're very well liked

no one messes with you in campus

but what about off?

what if yuu does that in ramshackle?

he was disgusted with yuu

humans are greedy

jade was with him

so from perfect little prefect to major bully in less than a week

yuu got angry looks, and wonders why

she confronts the distant first years, and gets shocked

yuu was angry, of course she was

where had they learned of this?

why would they believe this?

where are you?

yuu storms off to in search for you

you were at the cafeteria eating, as it was lunch

but you're peace was disturbed by loud stomping and doors opening

you looked up, it was yuu

yuu quickly went to you, grabbing your arm forcing you to stand up

you wince as she presses on your scar

"why are you lying? huh. why are you spreading fake rumors about me? answer me!" she said right in your face

you were tearing up from fear and anger

but you didn't have to answer to her aggressiveness

as leona pulls her away and ace and deuce blocks her

"what's your problem yuu? why are you harassing them!" ace yelled at her

"bu-but it was them who- I didn't do anything" yuu shouted

"don't lie, I saw what you did to her" leona scoffed at her terrible excuse

everywhere yuu looked everyone's eyes are filled with scorn, disbelief, disgust and anger

she looked at riddle whom she saved the life of

he looked away

leona wasn't an option

azul wasn't bothering to look at her

jamil was comforting kalim

vil looked at her up and down before glaring and looked away

idia wasn't there

the first years hate her

and malleus, oh malleus looked betrayed. he sadly looks at her before turning away with lillia, silver and sebek. the last two glaring at her for making their master sad

"guys.. I didn't do anything" she whispered

but no one listened

you wiped the tears and covered your face, embarrassed of crying in public others presumed

but in reality it's to cover your forming smirk

after saving the seven overblot victims from dying, without a prize or even that much appreciation

she was suddenly branded a villain?

but his suspicion really arose when the people once could be called her friends weren't acting consistent

one day acting like the ground y/n walks in were as pure as a newborn baby's soul

others acting like y/n was any other student

those incidents, and the headaches the nrc population has been dealing with. especially the first years

some days leona too is suspicious some days he could care less

the lazy days, he's bothered with the smell of dried roses and cinnamon

this discourages him to go to populated areas, as it concentrates there

other days he himself is drowned in such scent

but really who cares it's just a scent

leona hasn't been attending any of his classes, going to populated areas including the open area in his dorm in days

the headaches from the perfume was gone. god who even wears that much perfume

so he finally went out, he didn't know where to go but somewhere no one was would satisfy him

he walked and walked until it lead him to a familiar trail, ramshackle

he quickly turned back, no use in getting associated with people like that

but a few feet away from him was a bastard, a horned one that is

but right now leona was waiting for malleus near the headmasters office, he was late. and this time he did knew where the event was happening

'damn him, planning this whole thing, dragging me along. then had the guts to leave me waiting?'

he stormed over to the cafeteria, that's where most people are at this hour

his eyes scan the room, landing on one particular table

there, a particularly love sick fae and the newcomer acting as if they were dating the two months they've known each other

but what really bothered him was y/n sent a knowing smirk to him, and went back to being all sweet and gross to the person leona was supposed to be with in the headmasters room

so leona left, maybe it was because of the headache, maybe it was because he felt pity to the ramshackle prefect

someone was knocking on the door, yuu thought that maybe y/n has a visitor so being a good roommate she opened the door

it was leona, so she was sure that it was for y/n

"oh, y/n's out right now" she whispered closing the door

but his foot prevented that

"yuu look, I don't know how to apologize properly. so I'm sorry" he took a big breath before continuing "the new comer love potioned most the school to get in our heads and manipulated us"

the scene escalates as yuu finally breaks

hours of comforting yuu, leona let's her rest

after that hellish month, he can't even comprehend how tired she must be

ending in a comfortable position of him laying on the sofa, and yuu on his chest

"yuu?" he asks thinking she'd be asleep "hmm?" she mumbles

"aren't you angry?" he asks "you know, malleus knew about the potion, he knew about the lies." he slid in

"what?" she couldn't believe it, how could he?

they were friends, now he sides with them knowing that?

"yeah, earlier I went to the cafeteria and saw them acting like a couple" he says

"how could he do that to you? I thought you two were close friends" he continues

"I guess we were" she mutters nuzzling her face more into his chest, just wanting to rest

"he really fucked up, I mean your special. but people refuse to see it." he whispers

"you were honest, kind, patient. forget about him, let's expose their lies" he says

"can I even do that? I mean the whole school is at their disposal" she wants to yes, but she doesn't want to lose to a wannabe like y/n

"trust me, I'll make them pay for what they did to you" he says caressing her hair, lulling her to sleep

waking up, she feels the most refreshed she's been in weeks. maybe it's because leona comforted her, or because she slept with him. but whatever

asking about his plan now, she was worried. what if it doesn't work?

but listening to it now, oh it's gonna work alright

"I learnt this yesterday, the staff isn't under their potion, so that's an advantage to us. also there are days where the potion is weak, we'll have to strike then" he says

"but for now, let's collect evidence against her" so that week consisted of yuu following y/n around to catch them doing shady things

but as the days go on, she feels disheartened. literally nothing happened, in fact her previous friends look happier with them than they ever did with her

so she tells herself this is the last day, maybe leona was wrong. there was no potion

following them into an abandoned hall of the school, they enter a room. a library with miscellaneous things as it was used as a storage room of sorts

so she hid behind one of the book shelf, when a strong smell of roses and cinnamon attacks their nose

she held her nose and peeked, what could cause such strong smell

it was y/n filling up a bottle with the contents of an old cauldron, smiling to themselves

yuu took that opportunity to record the whole thing, and stayed back to get a sample of it

once done she immediately met up with leona to tell him what she caught

"then I saw them filling up a spray bottle with the potion, do you think that this will be enough?" she asks him

"this is perfect, you're amazing yuu" he smiles at her

as yuu was getting evidence, leona was looking to see if the potion was weak today. it was

so the two marched up to the headmages office to tell him everything

to their luck the staff were holding a meeting

"could you lead us to that room?" crowley asks

crowley was normally laid back, but this this is not okay

the staff went to the room were the potion was brewed, and there they were

standing over a cauldron brewing more, they're assuming after running out

they got startled, dropping the container

"professors! haha what are you doing here" they said fidgeting almost immediately

"puppy step aside, we'll have to inspect the potion you're making" crewel says

y/n trembles. no this cannot happen, they almost won!

their eyes shot from crewel to the other's in the group

who could have known? was it apart of the staff? was it a student? it was yuu!

at a last attempt of escape y/n tipped the cauldron hoping for it to splash on all of them

but before it could really splash, crowley had stopped the liquid mid air and tying them up with his whip

how could they have lost? everything was at their hands! they could've won!

they slumped, giving up. what could they even do now?

heading back to the headmages office, sending anyone who knew how to brew an anti-love potion to a closed classroom then handing it out to every single student

crowley called for a dormleader meeting and that's where he explained everything

everyone was aghast how dare that vile-

he also explains now that they are going through a trial, as a citizen of this world and as an adult. due to the severity of the crime

no they were not imprisoned, but was sent to a secluded building with 24 hours surveillance camera, and a therapist

no they were not satisfied, a month was wasted because of them. but they guess that it's fine, they are in isolation and away from everyone after all

but I guess there's a first for everything. they remember it all the way they ostracized her, almost like they forced her into isolation

but can you blame a man for being swayed by the siren's call?

in front of a fire place he repents, for conversing with such woman, for liking such woman

maybe he could be the one to bring her salvation. yes, who else could do it but him

so be a good girl and go with him, and he shall pave the way to both of your eternal paradise. with each other

I say somewhat cause yuu wasn't really given that much personality

yuu is kind of a theater kid but again wasn't given much personality so it doesn't really show all that much

anyways he transferred the movie to MY laptop y'know the one I bought with MY money. he even taught me how to do it

I offered for him and ortho to watch with us, but he refused saying 'there'd be too much people'

I didn't force him but ortho wanted to come so me and ortho went to sam's to buy a couple of snacks for the movie

then back to ramshackle we go

we waited

first to come was jack and sebek holding a couple bottles of pop

then epel with a few apple desserts

then adeuce combo with a few pasties and ace with more chips

before any of that I mad all of them wear sheet masks not excluding ortho ofc I just squeezed it a bit more to not damage anything on his face

so begins the movie

"he reminds me of the creep flirtin with everyone in the cafe" epel pointed out Jason almost throwing a handful of chips at the laptop

"real, poor gretchen imagine someone you like flirting with someone else in front of you" jack said chewing on some pie

"how disgraceful" sebek murmured sipping on his cup

at the end of the movie everyone was satisfied

"oh my god I'm not mad at him, I'm worried about him. I think someone is pulling a joke on him, I mean if no one votes for him, he's gonna have a total meltdown. and who's gonna have to comfort him? me."

"so you don't think he'll get in?" ace asked

"deuce ace, he's not pretty. I know that sounds bad but whatever, the prettiest freshman is always y'know pretty. the crazy thing is it should be yuu, but everyone forgets them because they're such a slut, anyway I got to go, I'm going to class" epel 'hung up'

"well he's not mad at you" ortho told jack

"hold on" he told all of them "are you okay" deuce asked "shh" he switched the line to call me

my phone 'rings' again, and then I put it on speaker

"hello?" "if someone said something bad to you, you'd want me to tell you right?" jack asked

"mmm no" I said "what if it was someone you thought was your friend?" he pressed on

I got annoyed "what are you-? hold on other line" I said taking the call

"hello?" "let's go out" sebek said "hold on I'm on the other line with jack" I said "don't invite him, he's driving me nuts" "okay hold on" "good hurry up" I went back to jack

"it's sebek, he wanted to hang out and told me not to invite you" "do not hang out with him" jack said "why?" I said annoyed "oh you wouldn't want me to tell you" "ugh you can tell me, hold on" I switched over "oh my god he is so annoying" "who is?" I widened my eyes "who's this?" I asked "jack" he responded "right, hold on" I switched

"oh my god he is so annoying" I told sebek "I know just get rid of him" I switched

"okay what is it?" I asked jack "sebek said everybody forgets about you because you're such a slut" he said "he said that?" I asked offended "you didn't hear it from me" I switched lines

"I can't go out ehe ehe I'm sick" I told sebek "boo you whore" he said hanging up

I wore an offended expression and left the cafeteria. actually everyone in the call left the cafe

midnight rain

aka reasons why you and azul broke up

coral sea was like a city but just underground

and as any city has, it has it's 'wastelands'

or the less fortunate parts

I live there, our house surrounded by coral that acts like a fence, dividing the land

every city trope was there, pageant queens, people who pretend they're big shots, and you know the drill

even with the not so satisfactory life, it was like heaven for me

azul was like a slow acting love potion, slowly making you fall for him and before you knew it, you were obsessed

my love for him is ineffable, but then again

this was our first love, and you know what they say about that?

it's just that they never last

azul was perfect, he was sweet, caring, and just the cutest when flustered

I was somewhat the opposite

a rebel, no good, a player

he really did change me, I didn't notice, but i dropped all my bad habits

only focusing on him

I guess that's why we didn't make it

he was nice, and I wasn't

by the time we were picking high schools, we discussed about picking schools close to each other

he picked nrc and I went with royal institute, in the same island

"but we planned our whole lives together, why back out now?" azul asked holding my hand

I feel like you'll regret being with me in the future
