“I know yer still wonderin’ why we treat ya different than anybody ya’ve ever known has treated ya,” Daryl drawled softly, “and the reason is pretty simple.”
You gave him a questioning look, and for a moment your heart sunk as if you were about to find out what was going to be expected of you, what the price was for this safety and kindness.
“It’s because everybody ya’ve known before us have been fuckin’ pieces of shit not even worth a second of yer thought or energy.”
A wave of relief and then an uproaring of brutal emotion ran through you. You felt like if you opened your mouth to let it out it would become an endless scream…
“Okay?” Daryl asked, catching your eyes pointedly. “Yer safe here. And we dun expect anythin’ out of ya that you don’t want to give. I promise.”
Tears welled up in your eyes and you couldn’t speak, but he seemed to understand, and gave you a reassuring nod.

So, as a heads up...
I will have to postpone my Xbox Series X purchase due to a snafu with the CRA saying that I don't get a tax return even though I earned the same amount as last year.
I was looking forward to being able to livestream some newer games but that will have to wait for awhile. I still have my Xbox one of course and I will continue to stream through that.
I'm sorry if I got your hopes up because trust me when I say that my hopes were high too.
