#HappyFridayThe13th every Monster! Unearthed from the depths of the Catacombs - Check out the very first prototypes that were made to pitch the idea of Monster High! These prototypes used a head mold from a doll line that never made it to retail, feature the Barbie collector pivotal body (I was always all about that articulation) and you’ll notice some my scene shoes and accessories to help complete their looks plus some actual jewelry used to create their details! Just like customizers - we build prototypes out of what we have around sometimes, especially when the idea can be out there - like Fashionably Fierce Monster Teens! You’ll notice that Frankie isn’t green either... management said girls don’t like green so we couldn’t paint her up green... luckily when we tested the brand girls said if her dad is Frankenstein, she should be green! I felt so vindicated! Thanks girls in testing! For the most part the ghouls stayed pretty close to these designs, but Clawdeen got an all new outfit and a more purple color palette!

I wondered if creatable world dolls would be good candidates for headswaps but I couldn’t find any photos of such hybrids online. So once I got my dolls, I decided to try it myself and photograph the results. They have shorter necks than barbies but don’t look terribly unproportioned with smaller heads, maybe a little off. I personally find the Raquelle hybrid quite charming, curvy Karl less so. I guess it’s really a matter of personal taste. Matching the body with a head that could pass for a child/tween should get the best results.

thedollcafe skomentował(a) Twój zestaw zdjęć “almost all of the dolls i repainted through the years. my repaints are...”
I like your style!!
thank you! i use only acrylic paint so i prefer to keep everything simple. i’m also inspired by dolljunk (i like how he paints lip corners so I picked that up from him).

Here is my Malibu Stacy custom based on the talking doll from The Simpsons. Since it’s very clear she’s heavily based on the 1982 Dream Date Barbie I based my design choices from that such as making the frilly thing on her bodice sequins, and using purple lilac bias tape rather than a darker pink.
I was going to use a Superstar body but I couldn’t find any with hard plastic legs for like $1 for the past few weeks so I slapped my Superstar sculpt head on a 2015 Dreamtopia body since it’s mostly hard plastic and easier to paint.
Of course I didn’t try making this show accurate but I’m really proud at how this turned out when she was meant to be a gag prop lol.

Here’s my Wicked Witch collection. I’ve had this affection for her for such a long while and yeah, I did resent doll companies for intentionally making their wicked witch dolls the antithesis of Barbie’s beauty for the longest time. But I’ve learnt to love the beauty of the stronger jaws, bigger noses and generally un-Barbie appearance now.
