With the silly season upon us again a group Laudra Vista Junior High students from Fullerton, California, try to set a new record in car packing; they managed to put in 31, 13 and 14 year-olds into this Volkswagen Beetle on May 12, 1964.
Pictures show 31 teenagers (10 boys and 21 girls, average weight 100 lbs., height 5 feet) who have stuffed themselves into the tiny car, claiming a new record. The kids practiced with one of their families’ cars but stopped at 25 (they say was the old record) and borrowed one from a dealer for the record attempt.

Armpit hair was overwhelmingly the norm for workers and performers before 1920, so not surprisingly it shows up in this historic peak a boo film, filmed in Paris in 1901 or 1902. Shaved armpits actually only came into style in the US in the 1920s.
This woman was likely used to stage costuming and hair and these kinds of hairpieces were common at this time. (They helped people far at the back of the theater see the character’s features.) At this time human hair could be used for this kind of wig but finer animal hair was also an option. Some women still used hairpieces and wigs in public to cover up hair loss, but those were usually more subtle. The armpit hair, however, is 100% organic.
