'don't get inspired by my style' is such a funny thing to say. do NOT let any art i make have any lasting impression on you. only view my work if you are going to men in black mind wipe yourself later. the territorial defensiveness over "art styles" is a disease of the mind stg

Caspian's new look going forward now! We have a few fun tweaks to his overall look now. That's odd, he seems to be missing something.... hm 🤔

I'm sorry about your D&D game. Can I ask what made your players and yourself decide to restart the campaign?
(Continued from another message: "I meant in terms of just stopping the game versus continuing without the kicked player versus restarting. It's not a judgement thing I'm curious on your thought process. I think a lot of groups have gone through this.")
Oh, absolutely groups go through this all the time! Two of my players are also DMs that have had games fall through or stop due to people leaving or getting kicked. It's always a huge bummer for everyone involved. Our game's been running since mid 2021 - so that's a lot of (almost) weekly sessions. We were on session 67 I believe. I've got 900 hours logged into roll20 and a good 750+ of them are just the one game I've been running. As a DM it hurts because you put sooo much time and effort into setting it all up; having it just suddenly end totally sucks. It sucks for the other players, too, who just wanted to get together and play.
It's not the first time for us - two players at the very start of the campaign didn't vibe with the table and ended up leaving, which is totally fine! It's the first game I've ever grabbed people together to run for, so it wasn't an already established group that all had experience together yet, if that makes sense. Once they left we kept playing for nearly two more years until just recently.
When it happened I basically asked my players what THEY wanted to do. The PC of the kicked player was integral to the plot of the campaign, so do we find some way to write them out? Do I turn them into an NPC? Or did we want to restart the whole game, giving myself and the players an opportunity to try some new things? I'm not as inexperienced of a DM as I was in 2021 and felt like I could make a more cohesive game for my table. The players were excited at the idea of taking their PCs in slightly new directions to make it fresh, especially since we've been playing together consistently for a while now and the awkwardness that comes from roleplaying with new folks is gone. They've been having a blast changing builds, designs, and backstories around and we're all super stoked for Waterdeep 2.0!

i feel like i'm losing my mind why has the AI debate pivoted away from material/labor concerns back to debates about Real vs Fake Art. cannot express just how little i care about relitigating Art and high art and low art and skilled vs unskilled art. what i care about is the treatment and compensation of workers, the power corporations are exerting over intellectual property and creators, the continued extraction of resources, and the omnipresent glut of spam and disinformation with few or no regulations/resources that filter out the SEO AI generated nonsense

Before I make a short post about a recent development regarding my D&D game, I’d like to direct everyone to some actionable resources to aid Palestine if you don’t have them bookmarked already.
Daily Clicks to help Palestine || E-Sims for Gaza || Education on Palestine
This is being posted on my art account because I frequently get asked questions about the game I run and this would eventually come up. TLDR: I had to kick a player.
All posts on my blog regarding this player or their character have been removed. I do not want anyone seeking this person out trying to find who it is or harassing them. I think they have problems that need to be worked through and may be suffering psychologically. However I am not going to run a D&D game for someone who defends Zionism and the genocide Israel is currently perpetuating, let alone implies that me and my friends are antisemitic for being pro-Palestine.
It's over and done with, and the remaining players and I have decided to restart our current campaign. I just wanted to explain why a few posts with a large number of notes are missing, or why a PC is missing. Big thanks to you guys for being so invested in my art and the wonderful stories I get to make with my friends. Please bookmark the links above and do your part to support Palestine. Antisemitism is never acceptable, but criticizing Israel is not in and of itself antisemitic. Free Palestine.

Did you opt out of the AI trawling yet? You have to do it to each of your sideblogs individually as well
I did, thank you! Though I'll be honest, I do think some of my beloved fellow artists (understandably) focus on the wrong points of the matter. Personally, I'd rather continue sharing my work no matter what. I know it has a chance of getting used for AI slop, but that's everywhere. Who knows, it could be like NFTs and eventually most people realize what little substance it has, and therefore what little worth. My main concern is artistic industries and jobs getting even worse for artists as employers try to use said AI slop to take away what meager rights and wages we have to begin with.
TLDR i'm anti ai because it's basically junk, but it by itself does little more than annoy me. it's the concept that it could be used to hurt livelihoods that's my concern. An AI tech bro/supporter wouldn't be a good client for me in the first place, so I'm not really worried about losing their attention, so to speak. It's not the kind of person I think would be getting anything meaningful out of my art to begin with.

Would you do coms for characters that aren't dnd / ttrpg ones? Like fandom ocs and stuff?
I do! Though this last batch of open orders may (hopefully) be my last for a while. I'd like to soon close and not open again until I'm entirely caught up!

the darling Glaze “anti-ai” watermarking system is a grift that stole code/violated GPL license (that the creator admits to). It uses the same exact technology as Stable Diffusion. It’s not going to protect you from LORAs (smaller models that imitate a certain style, character, or concept)
An invisible watermark is never going to work. “De-glazing” training images is as easy as running it through a denoising upscaler. If someone really wanted to make a LORA of your art, Glaze and Nightshade are not going to stop them.
If you really want to protect your art from being used as positive training data, use a proper, obnoxious watermark, with your username/website, with “do not use” plastered everywhere. Then, at the very least, it’ll be used as a negative training image instead (telling the model “don’t imitate this”).
There is never a guarantee your art hasn’t been scraped and used to train a model. Training sets aren’t commonly public. Once you share your art online, you don’t know every person who has seen it, saved it, or drawn inspiration from it. Similarly, you can’t name every influence and inspiration that has affected your art.
I suggest that anti-AI art people get used to the fact that sharing art means letting go of the fear of being copied. Nothing is truly original. Artists have always copied each other, and now programmers copy artists.
Capitalists, meanwhile, are excited that they can pay less for “less labor”. Automation and technology is an excuse to undermine and cheapen human labor—if you work in the entertainment industry, it’s adapt AI, quicken your workflow, or lose your job because you’re less productive. This is not a new phenomenon.
You should be mad at management. You should unionize and demand that your labor is compensated fairly.
