Revenge.
hey guys, I just want to contribute a recommendation for what to watch next after pll and if you’re interested in watching this show because I reckon I’ll be doing a rewatch, feel free to hit me up, or if you’re uncomfortable messaging first just like this post, I totally understand and I’m not abrasive. :)
nevertheless, the show I think will appeal to some of you is Revenge. therefore, here’s a synopsis, I’ll try to refrain from giving away too much. I think I recall it being on abc family and unfortunately it was canceled back in 2015, however the show did have four seasons consisting of 22 episodes on each season (it might have varied though?) and it’s about a woman who was originally called amanda clarke, but changed her identity to emily thorne to execute revenge on the people who framed her father for a crime he didn’t commit. he died in prison, and she’s determined to destroy the people who destroyed her father, and stole away her life.
I do consider myself an avid ambassador for this show. it’s absolutely brilliant, I’m not saying pll was amateur or for immature audiences, but personally I resonated with it a lot more because it was quite a mature show, whereas with all due respect, I didn’t view pll on the same level of maturity or hold pll up to the same standards. this show managed to blow me away with every twist and turn they enforced. it’s very comprehensible, a lot more than pll and I don’t remember there being much as what marlene would refer to, “dream logic”. zero plot holes, again in my opinion, it could be subjective to the fact that it’s not a really mystery orientated show, although it does have some sporadic mysteries.
the showrunner has balls to kill off crucial characters. the show does not portray emily as the victim at times, although she’s scorned, when she’s gone too far, they don’t make us feel empathy for her. and the actors..wow. the actors are the most endearing cast ever (sorry pll, all my revenge feels are coming back) and I genuinely still keep up with their lives, predominately emily vancamp and gabriel mann. heck, I’ve been noticed by the cast on numerous occasions even. I cannot critique any of the actors, any of the storylines, any of the writers. the only criticism I have is for the network for cancelling such a ceaselessly exemplary show!
alright, I feel intemperate for this, I went very over the top so I apologize if my overzealous behavior put you off:/ the point of this post was to get people interested in one truly underrated show, and I got carried away. but please do consider watching this show, so many people dipped out after the pilot (I think it dropped by millions of viewers, the premiere actually garnered ten million viewers) maybe it wasn’t what they were expecting. but I promise you guys, it has blood, tears, fights, drama, violence, occasional romance, emily vancamp’s facial expressions, nick wechsler’s body and gabriel mann’s adorableness.

You what is the most disgusting thing though?
They actually portrayed Toby being raped by Alex as romantic. In both scenes. They played songs and showed him intimately kissing her stomach and tracing her scar, believing she is the love of his life that he nearly lost. They literally gave them probably the most romantic love scene out of any of the couples and in the end it was rape.
They romanticized rape.
Keep that in mind.

I concur with you completely! I hate how most of these situations have been disregarded. it truly upsets me so much.
out of curiosity, I started listing how many times rape has been a part of PLL…
-Jenna rapes Toby (and several seasons later tries to kiss him again)
-Ben tries to rape Emily
-Ez/ria was statutory rape until the time jump
-Wren/Alex could potentially be statutory rape – it sounds like she met him before the time jump, therefore she’d be a minor.
-Alison and Rollins; she consented to Elliot Rollins, not Archer Dunhill and consent is immediately revoked at that point.
-Alison + the forcible impregnation
-Toby + Alex (at least once, I would consider it twice based on what IMK has said about it being it Alex in the finale.)
-Mary rapes Peter
And for the most part, it has never been addressed.

Soooo… Does the PLL Facebook page not know what the hell they’re talking about, or is everyone else just as confused as I am?100% thought the hotel room scene was Alex… Maybe Marlene was like, yo Spoby fans are pissed, lie and tell them it was Spencer.

why is nobody discussing how spencer claimed they forgave mona for all her transgressions as A??? lol no they didn’t & the writers acknowledged it in the past, the writers should’ve given alex room to elaborate instead of her mere response “not quite.”

Things that still don't make sense
- The Board Game meant literally nothing - The secret underground passage wasn’t used to kill Charlotte - How Mona got Mary and Alex to another country - Bethany Young - NAT - The first 6 seasons - Why Wren introduced Alex to CeCe and not Spencer - Why Wren DIED - Spoby - Why there was a need for that final scene - Addison - Why Lucas was tap dancing - Blind girl on a horse. Smart - Jenna having no part in the final twist - Everyone just wanting CeCes money - Sara Harvey - Wren visiting Mona… flashback? Confused - Mona’s dollhouse. Did she help CeCe with the S5 Dollhouse? “Tea Time” - Sidney Driscoll - Melissa’s existence in the finale - Jason DiLaurentis’ non existence in the finale - Jason not knowing he has 4 sisters now. Out of those one dead and one missing & a sociopath. - Why Ezra was kidnapped? If Alex loved Aria that much why try to ruin her wedding day? - Why CeCe loved Alex but only seen Spencer as her “doll” - Why CeCe loved Alison and not Spencer
KEEP ADDING IM SURE THERES MORE!

They go through a lot of trouble to make Lucas seem like he is involved with A. All he did was lose a lot of Caleb’s money.
This is exactly the kind of red herring that I hate.

Add a name
I was thinking that there are a lot of characters that we didn’t understand what happened or what was their purpose to be on the show (like, wtf happened with…?), so why don’t we make a list? I’m going to start

Can you imagine if Alex had swapped places with Spencer in the Dollhouse and had kept her captive or something ever since, that would’ve been interesting.

I feel cheated, because, I would really like more of Alex Drake, Wren Kingston, Melissa Hastings and I would also like to find out more about Bethany. I was also pretty sad they killed Charlotte off so fast after getting out, I really love Vanessa. :(

It irritates me that Marlene has basically said the show is more about the friendships, and not the mystery, because I’m pretty sure, yes the friendships are important and I love the Liars and Mona and the Wine Moms, but the show was about the mystery!
