      The hound ached, but nothing than he’d experienced before. He’d fought the hounds of the Dark Lord himself and survived a time, an arrow pierced through the meat of his shoulder would hardly be his downfall. A mere splinter in the backside of a giant, as he’d like to think of it. Humble he tended to be, but he was not a fool, was not ignorant to his own power. He was fortified with the ancient magics of his grand Lord and still even reborn he is just as fierce and unwavering. Though the loss of blood was making it a little messy, surely he would heal in due time. Especially to the aid of his dear friend and her careful touches. “You tend to me as Oromë did once,” His features were soft as he stripped from his pants and into the water, sinking down. “Though he bathed me in the rivers. Up to his hips in the current and scrubbed until my coat gleamed like the distant snow capped mountains.” He looked over at her, eyes searching, curious. “Do you miss that land as much as I do?”

      She was silent as she worked.  Her hands were steady and her stomach remained in place.  She had learned how to deal with wounded animals from Oromë and quickly lost her fear or apprehension for blood then.  It had been the battlefield that solidified her skills.  Once the arrow was free, she picked up the nearest washcloth – a square of fabric that was far too delicate and ornate than what it was suited for at the moment – and pressed it against the seeping wound.  Another bit of cloth, but this was a sock of her own but it would help.  She sandwiched Huan’s shoulder between her hands, applying pressure to help stem the bloodflow from the now open wound.  

      “I have little to no skill with healing,” she reminded him, glancing over to his face.  “We shall have to bother them but first we should clean you up.  Trousers off and into the bath with you, I will tend to this shoulder.”  It did neither of them any favors to send him off with mud and blood caked on his skin and in his hair.  “I keep my armor and weapons here, the stench has long since followed me to my quarters.  It is embedded within my skin and through to my bones.”

      The hound made his way deep into the cave, easing her gently to the floor as he delved deeper to assure there weren’t any creatures or monsters hidden in the shadows. Returning he glanced outside before humming. “I’m gonna go gather some wood for a fire, maybe even get lucky and snare a hare or two. You stay here, if you need anythin’ you know to whistle for me.”

Rossiel had to admit, it was nice to be able to rest her bones awhile, and any fears of tumbling from her perch were soon easily laid aside.  The question had set her own stomach to growling, and she made a quick mental inventory of the contents of her pack, however few there were getting to be.  “There’s… ah… half a loaf of barley-bread, I believe, and some apples.  S-smallish, and maybe a bit wrinkly, but I’m sure they still taste better than your arm would.”
