Wow, really? I've written gen for nearly 20 years and by far my most popular piece of writing is a humourous gen outsider perspective slice of life. It doesn't hurt that one of my very favourite people is aro, so when I have an audience in mind that isn't just me, it's usually them.
Character studies, case fic, untangling trauma through food and conversation, found family, crossover adventures, gap-fillers, fix-it fic, a short set of fic that was just me thinking up annoying fight sequences and making characters do them. Someone is doing their best to rescue themself but needs a teammate or friend to sweep in and save them because I was always taught that no one would rescue me and actually that's a lie.
I enjoy reading romance a lot! I am glad of all the romo fic. And there is more to stories than romance. Vive la différence!
