Intrigued by dreams that haunted them, they decided to go to the place those nightmares guided them to. Ending up falling from above, they end in the underworld: supposedly a place that didn’t exist and consisted in stories old people told to children.
As soon as they woke up, a ghost posessed them. Taking over in certain situations.
Kill or be killed?
To hope or to give up?

Sorry for responding so late. What I wanted to ask is, if you could draw sans surprised at meeting underswap sans visiting his timeline, would that be ok :)?
[ It’s quite alright! I did your request but not here since I want to focus on my own AU. Hope you like it! ]

A PSA about Undertale AUs
I’m going to go out on a limb here and actually express an opinion not explicitly asked for. I generally avoid doing so, because I generally find putting unprompted opinions the equivalent of hitting a brick wall–the only one who ends up hurt is yourself.
But this is a topic that has given me a fair deal of notoriety, and some recent things have prompted me to address it directly.
I love the AUs.
This doesn’t mean that I love every AU, but I love the fact that they exist.  I love that there are hundreds of people actively inspired to create.  I love the people who devote time and love to works of fiction that may never see the light of day.
I don’t really believe in bad AUs. There are AUs that are a tad unndercooked, AUs that make me personally uncomfortable, AUs that can only be AUs because they technically used Sans as a model for one of their characters.  But these do not make them bad.
Rather, I consider them as catalysts to original thought.  They are often the first mode by which we beginning building–a solid basis that will eventually lead to independent, creative stories.  A good example in the Undertale fandom is @coulsart, who has transformed fanart into an incredible and intriguing set of characters that I am excited to hear more from.
However, we can’t all be Coul, or @renrink or @dokudoki or @happikattwuzheere.   We are all at various stages of learning, and should be given room to grow.
They will not grow if we stifle creativity because we classify it as “bad” and tear down artists and creators in the early stages of their development.
I have recently become aware of a couple of blogs that actively seek out beginning artists who are young or inexperienced, then repost their art without permission for the sole purpose of publicly mocking it.
This. Is. Wrong.
It is not constructive criticism.  It is unkind and crushing and mean.  It has no place in a professional world, and it especially have no place in the fandom for a game that pleads, at its core, for people to be kind.
I will not list the names of the blogs who target kids for the sake of cruelty, because as disgusted as I am, I don’t want them to be attacked by a mob. What they are doing is wrong, but we’re no better if we resort to that.
Instead, I offer the following plea: be kind, be patient.
I know many of you are disillusioned with the millions of sans copies that are shipped with each other. I know many of you find the artwork “ugly” or the characters out of character “mary sues,” but I raise you this: Have any of you not gone through that phase.
Can any of you tell me that you haven’t made a ridiculous crossover, drawn an embarassing OC, written awful fanfiction.  Have any of you not imagined yourself a character in your favorite fantasy world, and felt safe in your imagination where you could make everything go right?
It’s embarrassing to think back on now, but it was crucial to our growth and development. Yet each of us, artists and creators, were allowed to grow up and grow through it.  We must now pay it forward to the next generation.
In two or five or ten years, they’ll look back on their own work with embarrassment.  There is no need to make them ashamed in the present. Build them, teach them how to give and accept constructive criticism, give them time to mature, and in a few years I think we will all be amazed at their progress.
If you cannot bring yourself to do that, then think back to the Undertale.
Think back to a game that started all this madness, and remember what made it so good.
Be kind.  Not because you must be, but because you have the power to be cruel.
The world is cruel enough without us adding to it.

As I said here : “He can vaguely recall the original timeline (Undertale), though, but he believes it’s a prediction (Genocide) rather than a timeline”.
This is what he remembers from the original timeline. A call who Underhope sans guesses it’s from him to the fallen human (Frisk). Regardless of it being true or just some horrible nightmare, Underhope sans holds tightly on the word HOPE. He hopes it’s a bad dream. He hopes their new fallen human saves them. He hopes it’s all a horrible misunderstanding. He hopes for every monster a new future full of opportunities.

UNDERHOPE
What is exactly Underhope?
Underhope is an AU that takes place right after Chara dies and everyone has lost faith and felt their hopes and dreams shatter. Asgore does not want to kill the humans even if he is full of grief and pain due the loss of both children of his. Instead he is depressed and Queen Toriel does her best to cheer up her husband, she takes the charge, too. Directing the Royal Guard and so.
Papyrus is wearing the Royal Guard’s armor.
Undyne allowed Papyrus to join the Royal Guard but she is terrified of something bad happening to him. Does she regret her decision? She does but she won’t crush Papyrus’ now accomplished dream. During patrols, both stay close. Undyne won’t let Papyrus have another partner but herself.
Is Sans still conscious of the timelines?
More info here
He is. He can vaguely recall the original timeline (Undertale), though, but he believes it’s a prediction (Genocide) rather than a timeline. He is still conscious of the SAVES.
Since no one lives in the RUINS, who receives Frisk?
Sans. He still goes to practice knock knock jokes against the huge door which is unlocked now. Why does he go further? Himself doesn’t know but he explores the place and likes to rest on the bed of golden flowers. One day on his normal walk, he happens to find Frisk and thus, begins to explain how things work in the UNDERGROUND or what is that even.
What happened to Flowey/Asriel?
After he died as Asriel  but was experimented on a flower he...He is still kept around. He befriended Papyrus yet it’s a hidden friendship because Sans can vaguely recall as a dream the original timeline (Undertale) and how he didn’t trust any sort of talking flower because they manipulated Papyrus. Sometimes, Underhope Sans is seen cutting off Echo Flowers and putting them on flowerpots: they still shine but they cannot repeat back the last thing they heard.
Flowey, too, recalls the original timeline but he firmly believes it’s “his worst nightmare” and that he is “Afraid of turning into a soulless monster”.
What’s Gaster role in this AU?
I haven’t yet decided. The accident that caused his death could have happened...or not. After all, Queen Toriel is in charge.
Maybe he could have faked his death and now lives with guilt as the River Person.
Perhaps, he is still the Royal Scientist and has Alphys as his student and second hand.
How does the GENOCIDE run works in Underhope?
If Frisk RESETS after, say, killing someone. Sans will still greet them like no big deal happened but internally he is panicking that they would kill everyone he knows. For which, at all costs he will remind helpful and friendly. Even in the GENOCIDE run, Sans would try to constantly knock sense on Frisk. And once in the Jugdemental Hall, his left eye would be GREEN representing his KINDNESS and how much he hoped the situation could be avoided.
He will fight back after realizing it’s pointless to try to know sense on Frisk, therefore his eye will turn blue as normal and the battle would be a bit more violent. He still has 1HP, though.
