Hey, sorry, I had to kill your girlfriend. Yeah, she sold me as a sacrificial lamb to the security force that was threatening her family after I killed their leader's son on her orders, but then she was double-crossed after betraying me herself. Yeah, I represented the resurgence of the gods who had abandoned her years ago and she feared that my presence would become a threat to her power someday. Yeah, she realized her fatal mistake after it was too late to change, so she arranged her burnt and mutilated body into the form of the Black Sacrament and prayed for me to take her life as penance in order to restore the balance she had upset. Yeah, she gave me the Blade of Woe so that I could see it through. It looks like her own pride led to her downfall, but I'm sure she'll find redemption in the void. Sorry :/
