fictional stories involving cloning and the “moral dilemma” of whether a cloned human should be considered a person are so fucking obnoxious to me, like from the earliest possible age it never made sense to me why people would hand-wring about the personhood of a clone. that’s just a human being baby, don’t be so weird about it

@taikouvember Day 1: Connection / Distance

One thing I’ll never grow tired of discussing when it comes to these two is how their closeness is being depicted throughout the series; from Taichi being the one who immediately bonds with Koushirou in football club, taking him under his wing and encouraging him to go to Summer camp with him (novel), to them being absolute “partners in crime”, enabling and supporting each other in the Digital World (Adventure 01) to eventually having their peak bickering couple honeymoon phase three years later (Adventure 02). Then we have a teenage angst period of “debatable closeness” (Tri), in which Taichi seems to be drifting away from everyone, including Koushirou, who wouldn’t have been able to come out of his shell and become a hands-on mentor without Taichi’s support - but in the end, even Koushirou isn’t fully able to get through to him. Taichi’s state of self-doubt and self-discovery may even result in him feeling inferior to Koushirou in their early twenties (Kizuna) - since the latter has basically surpassed Taichi in terms of (outward) confidence after all this time (even if his personal view on and adoration for Taichi may actually never have changed).

I’m still hoping for the 02 movie to give us a little more insight of what their state of relationship is in 2012 besides being “working buddies”. Until then, I will maintain that they’ll find a way to move closer towards each other again, not only due to their intermingling careers (epilogue). Because their connection is definitely still there and I’m confident that it will persist.

Inspired by Anita Sarkeesian’s Video Game Tropes vs Women, I wanted to pitch a Zelda game where Zelda herself was the hero, rescuing a Prince Link. 

Clockwork Empire is set 2,000 years after Twilight Princess, and is not a reboot, but simply another iteration in the Zelda franchise. It just so happens that in this case, Zelda is the protagonist. I’m a very big Zelda fan, and worked hard to draw from key elements in the continuity and mythos.

This concept work is meant to show that Zelda as a game protagonist can be both compelling and true to the franchise, while bringing new and dynamic game elements that go farther than being a simple gender swap.

2017 marked the 20th anniversary of the original airing of Revolutionary Girl Utena. exactly 20 years ago today, the series ended with the final episode “Someday, Together, We’ll Shine" 

Utena is widely considered one of the best, more influential, most interesting anime series of all time- it’s a little embarrassing to say, but in my opinion it’s one of the most incredible pieces of fiction of all time. it’s definitely important to me, at least. so i wanted to do something for today.

i like to believe, twenty years later, they are still together.

Kind of.  No, I’m not really coming back to Tumblr... but I have decided to pick up my poor neglected fic, “Matters of the Heart”, re-edit the completed chapters, and hopefully, this summer, have it finally finished!  There’s 6 written chapters to edit -- one which I never posted -- and 4 to actually write (most of which have at least one sene written, and complete outlines)

Lets see if I can finish a thing!

In case it weren’t obvious, I’ve pretty much abandoned tumblr.  the content just wasn’t really satisfying anymore, and I have had nothing to contribute myself.  My writing has stalled as other projects have consumed my life (like home renovations, and larger scale cosplay projects).  This year I hope to finally pick up and finish my fics, but we’ll see how that goes.

I’ve never totally understood what defines a ‘crackship’.  Like, any ship I’m ‘into’ I’m like, 100% convinced it has merit/a basis/would work.  Like, if we’re talking “this is explicitly NOT CANON because canon contradicts it, but I love it anyway”, then I guess I have always had a soft spot for Seiya/Usagi in “Sailor Moon”, and I also am 100% on board with the 3-way Taichi/Sora/Yamato poly-ship.  19. A quiet night in Central 2 years before the Promised Day, Edward Elric try to bet his first born child to Roy Mustang playing cards. The colonel refused telling him that he wouldn’t want anything to do with his devil spawn, instead he would be the one who choose the kid’s name. At the end of the night the colonel told him that he better get used to the idea of call his kid Roy Elric. Back then Ed was only focused on return Al to his body, willing to give even his life to make it happen, so the thought of have kids never cross his mind.

Ed totally forgot about that until Al oh so helpfully remind him while he and Winry were trying to choose a name for their first kid. Let’s just say that a wrench and a gun have to intervene to avoid a fight.

Right after the birth when friends and family were meeting the baby and congratulating the new parents Roy quietly entered the room and offering the kid a finger he said two simple words: Hello, Maes.

When Winry got pregnant again, Ed promised that if they have a daughter he would name her after his and Al mother.

Everyone was expecting that and were really confused when they learned that Alphonse also wanted to have a daughter named Trisha and the Elric’s only smiled when someone asked them if it wouldn’t be confusing have two girls named the same.

The mystery was resolved when a beaming Edward Elric extended his newborn baby girl to the expecting arms of his teacher saying: Izumi, meet your grandma.
