Excerpts from Eric Harris’ journal (Columbine Shooter) with diagram of plans. Although Columbine was a school shooting, it was originally an elaborate plan to plant bombs strategically placed throughout the school and even the surrounding areas to divert the police. Plans were made for maximum body count, exact time increments were decided on ,when the bombs would go off (At 11:17, which was the time when lunch was at its maximum) and they even planned to man the exits and gun down any survivors trying to escape. They also planned to drive through the ambulance, cop, and reporter scene out front during the aftermath and bomb them as well. The planned death count was near 2,150 people. But plans changed and they settled on a shooting instead. The entry reads:
To fuck to you! No, I didn’t think so. Women you will always be under men. It’s been seen throughout nature, males are almost always doing the dangerous shit, while the women stay back. it’s your animal instincts, deal with it, or commit suicide, just do it quick, that’s all for now. -5/20/98

thoughts on people who romanticize true crime and real criminals?
That delves into the realm of hybristophilia and what not. I think it’s disrespectful to the victims and their loved ones who suffered at the hands of these criminals so it’s not something I support whatsoever. Most blogs I come across that do romanticize serial killers/mass shooters are teenagers themselves. I think people who have an interest in true crime are fascinated by those who embody the epitome of pure evil–because they are the abnormal ones in society, and what is considered ‘’abnormal’’ is typically something or someone who defies the moral logic that is adhered to by our society.
But in my opinion, there are two types of people who are drawn to these people: ones who have a healthy interest and want to study their minds, and ones who feel romantic/physical/sexual attraction stemming from their heinous actions. I think the people who romanticize killers feel a sort of connection to them. Mass shooters, for example, more often than not represent a person with a lot of pent-up anger who ends up lashing out against society. Someone with hybristophilia may relate to the mass shooter because they, too, feel like the ‘’black sheep’’ of society. Teenage girls who romanticize school shooters might be lonely and suffering from other mental health problems of their own, and so they empathize with the feelings some school shooters felt. They don’t view them as monsters, but misunderstood souls. I think by romanticizing these killers and photoshopping flower crowns on their heads and what not and seeking out other people with like-minded interests is a coping mechanism for their loneliness and an escape from reality for them.
In my opinion, most of these people do not pose a threat to society themselves, nor do they genuinely condone the actions of these criminals. And I think many teenage girls who do this eventually grow out of it. Now if you’re in your 30s and still obsessing over Eric and Dylan, that’s a bit more sad….

What is the difference between Psychopathy and Sociopathy?
When you hear the term ‘psychopath’ what do you envision? Do you see an axe-wielding maniac murdering entire families while they sleep? According to Hollywood cinema, a psychopath is someone you can pick out from the crowd based on a pair of retro 70’s glasses, a thick mustache, and a windowless van. However, a psychopath is generally someone who is meticulous in their thinking, effortlessly manipulative of those around them, and often someone who is very successful and popular amongst their peers. A sociopath, on the other hand, is someone who is often erratic, lacks critical thinking skills, and commits violent and impulsive crimes.
According to the Fifth edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical manual of Mental Disorders, or more commonly known as the DSM, both psychopathy and sociopathy fall under the category of being Antisocial Personality Disorders. Due to both of these disorders falling under the same category, they share very similar traits. Some of these shared traits are a disregard for the law and authoritarian figures, a general disregard for the rights of others, a failure to feel remorse or guilt and a tendency to display violent and aggressive behaviors. Despite many shared similarities between the two disorders, the one thing that sets them apart is calamitous: a psychopath has an inability to feel empathy for others or form meaningful emotional attachments to those around them.
A sociopath is described as someone with extreme antisocial attitudes and behaviors that lack a conscience. However, a sociopath does have the ability to form meaningful connections with one specific person or group while not feeling anything towards those outside of that group. A sociopath is often a nervous individual that is easily agitated, volatile, and prone to emotional outbursts; these outbursts can include fits of rage. Due to this mental disorder causing someone to feel inferior or displaced in society, they often live on the fringes of what is deemed normal. They often have a hard time holding down jobs or staying in one place and are viewed as being outwardly disturbed and erratic. Their crimes are often frenzied, unplanned, and messy; they are the type of killer that is likely to kill while upset and angry.
Unlike psychopathy, the origins of what causes someone to become a sociopath are slightly more muddled. In cases of psychopathy, there is a distinct under development in the prefrontal cortex, or the part of the brain that is responsible for impulse control and emotions. Sociopathy, on the other hand, is more closely linked to childhood trauma such as physical and emotional abuse.
In a research study performed in 2005 by Martha Stout, a practicing psychologist and instructor in the psychology department at Harvard University, research results found that as much as 50% of the cause of sociopathy can be attributed to heredity and the remaining 50% is caused by outside forces such as trauma.
An example of a sociopath is Jodi Arias; Jodi was known to grow obsessed with the men in her life and had tunnel vision for that single person. When the man she was having an affair with, Travis began to show signs of losing interest in her, she began to become increasingly hostile and persistent in keeping her relationship with him. When she murdered Travis, she did it in a frenzied attack while they were in the shower together and continued to take pictures during the entire murder. After being arrested, she continued to lie about her involvement in the crime and when she did admit to it she claimed that it was because he was a sexual predator.
After her arrest, one of her future cell mates came forward claiming that Jodi made her uncomfortable because of her total disregard for the atrocity she had committed. She reported that Jodi would tell her that Travis was a child molester and she did the world a favor for getting rid of him. Whether or not she actually believed Travis was this monster, she felt no remorse for killing someone she supposedly loved in such a brutal way. During recorded interviews, she was known to ask the camera crew to stop recording so she could fix her hair or powder her nose; she relished in the attention she was receiving for Travis’s murder.
Psychopathy, on the other hand is more neurologically rooted within a person’s mind due to the under development of the emotional control center of their brain. Due to this under development, psychopaths are unable to feel any form of empathy. Without the ability to form emotional attachments, it is easy for psychopaths to view people and animals as objects. The biggest difference between a psychopath and sociopath is the fact that psychopaths commit crimes with every step and action planned out, with contingency plans in place. They thrive under pressure and learn how to mimic necessary emotions to manipulate those around them. These killers are often referred to as “cold blooded” and are often narcissistic, with a strong belief in their ability to evade the law.
Often times, a psychopath is the most educated, sought after and successful person in the room due to their ability to read a crowd.
An example of a psychopath is Ted Bundy; he worked as a crisis prevention helpline worker and was known to protect people from being robbed, yet had the ability to turn off his “empathy” and brutally beat numerous women to death. While on trial for Kimberly Leach’s murder, he was able to convince a majority of people that he was innocent. It wasn’t until the cast of his dental impressions were taken that the true conscience-lacking nature of Ted Bundy was revealed.

Candace Newmaker was born in Lincolnton, North Carolina, on November 19, 1989. She was removed from her parents’ care due to negligence by social services. At the age of five, she was adopted by a pediatric nurse practitioner named Jeane Elizabeth Newmaker. Within months, however, Candace was acting very violently at home. As the years went on, her behavior only worsened. It is believed Candace was suffering from reactive attachment disorder. In a desperate attempt to control her daughter’s behavior, Jeane took Candance to the unofficial home of attachment therapists in Evergreen, Colorado, where she was to endure two weeks of intensive sessions of attachment therapy with Connell Watkins and Julie Ponder.
In an intense three-hour session, they attempted to re-enact a birthing scene by wrapping the young girl in a sheet to simulate a womb. The purpose was to help her bond with her adoptive mother. Four adults applied their weight on Candace’s tiny frame so she couldn’t free herself. Candace screamed and pleaded for air, and had even stated she was dying. One of the therapist shouted, ‘’You want to die? OK, then die. Go ahead, die right now.’’ Only twenty minutes into the session, Candace vomited and defecated, but she was forced to remain wrapped in the sheet. Finally Candace was asked if she wanted to be reborn, and she weakly replied, ‘’No’’. This would be her last word she would ever utter. The therapists began calling her a ‘’quitter’’ over and over again. The therapists then forced everyone to leave. When they unwrapped the blanket, they found Candace motionless. Connell Watkins said, ‘’Oh, there she is sleeping in her vomit.’’ Her lips and fingertips were blue and she wasn’t breathing. Jeane then rushed in and attempted to perform CPR on her adoptive daughter. When the paramedics arrived, they determined the little girl was unconscious and probably hadn’t been breathing for quite some time. She was rushed to the hospital and was declared brain dead the following day.
All adults involved in Candace’s death were charged and convicted of child abuse. In honor of the tragedy of Candace Newmaker, ‘’Candace’s Law’ was passed which outlaws rebirthing as a treatment in the state of Colorado.

Jeffrey Dahmer’s Paraphilias
Splanchnophilia-a pattern of erotic arousal to the visual imagery of the glistening surface of organs.
When Jeffrey Dahmer was in high school, he went on a field trip with his class to the natural history museum. He recalled seeing a corpse in the anatomical position. It had been cut from head to torso, the organs on display. It fascinated him so much that he stood there staring at it, becoming so engrossed with his discovery, that he lost the rest of his class. He found it erotic and it was the glistening of the organs that he became aroused by. A number of common fetishes in which men find ‘glistening’ erotic are silk, nylon, and latex.
Necrophilia-a pattern of erotic arousal to corpses.
This paraphilia is what Dahmer’s defense attorneys said was the reason behind his possible legal insanity. He was diagnosed with having this paraphilia by several psychiatrists during his evaluation before his trial. Dr. Wayne Myers said that “Sexual perversion is a way of mastering earlier emotional trauma through scenarios that add sexual pleasures to the wound. It gives you solace, making you feel you have some control over the pain.” According to Dr. Park Dietz, Dahmer’s first preference for a sexual partner was a “living partner who gave him total license and had no time constraints.” The second would have been a docile sex zombie, the third would have been a drugged victim, and his last choice was a corpse.
Frotteurism-a pattern of sexual arousal from rubbing against bodies-alive or dead.
Dahmer was known to rub the unconscious or dead bodies of the men that he lured to his apartment. During his conversation with psychiatrists prior to his trial, Jeffrey often referred to this as “light sex”.
Partialism-a pattern of sexual arousal to specific parts of the body.
Jeff was attracted to very specific parts of the male anatomy, in particular biceps, hairless chests, and viscera. He would almost always choose his victims based on their outward appearance. Of the parts he tried to cannibalize, a bicep was one of the first pieces he tried.
Necrophagia-a pattern of erotic arousal to consuming human flesh.
During Dahmer’s psychological evaluation with psychiatrist, Dr. Judith Becker prior to his trial, he explained his venture into cannibalism. On the stand, Becker later related that he “tried tasting the flesh and the heart. He bought a meat tenderizer, tenderized the heart, and ate it and the muscle meat. It gave him a sexual thrill while eating it. He felt that the man was a part of him and he internalized him. He reported having an erection while eating it.”

Hey! Soph here from Bundyspooks. Since somebody kept targeting me, reporting me, and then getting my account terminated, I have since set up my very own website in an environment free from jealous bitches! Yay! I will be giving you more in-depth posts on my website and will be planning on revamping my instagram (@bundyspooks), for the shorter, more image-centred posts. This will also enable me to socialise with you all and help answer any questions, something that I loved doing via tumblr’s Messenger feature. Writing about true crime is a massive passion of mine, and tumblr seemed like the place where I could do it among like-minded individuals. Sadly, website administrators seem to be so incompetent that every time they get a blog report, they just… delete the blog anyway. Because that’s a great way to treat your users, right?? This isn’t really a good place for me to harness my creativity anymore, if I’m just going to lose all my archived posts, drafts, and following.
I’ve had a whaaale of a time these past 4 (?) years or so, and I was made-up to call 89k of you my followers. Thank you. As a writer, having that amount of support means the world to me. So, my one last needy request, if you could reblog this post to spread the word, that would be the shit.

How does romanticization of serial killers look like exactly? I can not make out the difference between humanization and romanticization.
Humanisation I would say is recognising the vileness of serial killers and condemning their actions, but at the same time realising they’re not the ‘monsters’ like the media portrays them. All serial killers were someone’s son/daughter/wife/husband/brother/sister etc… and most of the time, had a once normally functioning life. I would also say humanisation is not sending people straight to death row, but instead trying to find out what went wrong and helping them psychologically. This is not only beneficial for their mental health, but also can provide research to help recognise behavioural traits in similar people in the future.
Romanticisation on the other hand is completely ignoring (or in some cases celebrating) what crimes serial killers committed and making disrespectful comments. Also when people sexualise them and make gifs/imagines/mood boards, disrespecting victims and their families or sites of murder. Or when people think serial killers actions are ok because they are good looking. There’s a huge difference from the two, when it includes the heart eye emoji or just the heart emoji in general, run lmao.

Dahmer’s Victims
I see a lot of posts about how they died (which is fine), but I wanted to make a post about how they lived. Like, what they were like as people. This information was scattered across multiple sources and incredibly difficult to find.
Steven Mark Hicks
1959-1978 (age 18) Steven, who went by Steve, was picked up by Dahmer whilst hitchhiking home from a rock concert. An activity he did often. He was four days away from his birthday, and had promised his parents he would be home in time for his dads birthday dinner. He was described as friendly, and well liked by everyone he met. He was close with his parents (Richard and Martha), and had a girlfriend at the time of his death. His parents were worried he smoked too much. Hicks often wore a necklace, and two bracelets. For thirteen years his parents held out hope he was alive somewhere. Steven was reportedly kind and chatty towards Dahmer.
Steven Walter Tuomi
1962- 1987 (age 24.) Tuomi simply went by Steve. He worked in a restaurant. He graduated from Ontonagon Area High School in 1981. His family reported him missing three months after his death. His grave was inscribed with the message; “We’ll love you forever.”
James Edward “Jamie” Doxtator
March 1st 1973- January 16th 1988 (age 14.) Jamie was a prostitute who’d had a few run ins with the law over this, but unfortunately was often treated as a criminal rather then a victim of sexual exploitation. Some reports say Doxtator was Hispanic, but most say he was Native American. His mother, Debbie Vega, in her only statement to the press on the matter, stated her sons favourite bible verse was “…Forgive them father, they know not what they do…”, but that Dahmer should not be forgiven for his crimes. Both photos circulated in the media were mugshots. A few reports say he was homeless at the time of his death, but official state records say he was living with his mother at the time. His grave is inscribed with the above mentioned bible verse and an etching of a buck and a deer.
Richard Guerrero
1967-1988 (age 21.) A young bisexual man who’s sister described him as a “mama’s boy.” He was last seen on the way to his friends house. His sister protested a Haunted Milwaukee walking tour focused on Dahmer.
Anthony L. Sears
January 28th 1965 - March 26th 1985 (age 24). Known to friends as Tony, Sears was an aspiring model. He worked at a restaurant and had recently got a promotion. His friend Jefferey Connor drove Tony and Jeffrey to Dahmer’s grandmother’s house. Years later he testified at Jeffrey Dahmer’s trial. Connor and Sears had been friends for 3 years and Tony had promised to call Connor the next morning.
Raymond Lamont Smith aka Ricky Beeks
1957-1990 (age 32.) Smith had a daughter who was ten at the time of his death. He often left his family for long periods of time. He had spent time in jail, and was involved in prostitution. His family believed he had died a year prior in a shooting.
Edward Warren Smith
August 2nd 1962 - June 14th 1990 (aged 27.) Known as Eddie, or sometimes “Sheik”. According to some reports he was an acquaintance of Dahmer. He often wore a “turban like headband”. Some say he was estranged from his family, his sister claimed otherwise. She also claimed to have got a call from a man she believed was Dahmer, telling her he had killed her brother. After his death his sister and a lawyer talked about starting a company known as “Jeffrey Dahmer Inc.” where she hoped that she, other victims families, and even Dahmer himself could go into business selling Dahmer merchandise.
Ernest Miller
1967-1990 (age 22.) Miller was a dance student who met Dahmer outside a book store. He wanted to leave his home in Chicago because of the violence. His grandmother described him as a very nice person. Friends described him as outgoing and sociable. Miller’s grandmother claimed she got a call from a man a week after Ernest’s disappearance, chanting “help me”, and later calls of choking and groaning sounds. She believed the caller was Dahmer.
David Thomas
1968-1990 (age 23.) David was the father of a toddler aged little girl. He was on probation for retail theft at the time of his death. The mother of his daughter described him as a devoted and loving father.
Curtis Durrell Straughter
April 6th 1973 - February 18th 1991 (age 18). Straughter lived with his grandmother, Catherine. He was estranged from some of his family members due to his sexual orientation. He had recently lost a job as a nursing assistant and hoped to become a model and earn a University degree. His friend Bernell Howard wrote a song about him after his disappearance. To his friends, he went by the name “Demetra”. His friends were surprised to learn he was among Dahmers victims as Straughter reportedly did not like white men. The mother of Anthony Sears suspects Dahmer claimed to be a professional photographer who could help with Curtis’ modeling career.
Errol Lindsey
1971-1991 (age 19.) Lindsey was a faithful Christian. He played the drums and sang in the church choir. He was described as an outgoing and friendly man, nicknamed by some “Cool Breeze”. He was also a fan of rap music, and lifted weights. His friends said Lindsey rarely drank or went out to bars.
Tony Hughes
1959-1991 (age 31). Hughes was deaf and mute. He was very close with his family. His sister said he knew Dahmer since October of 1989. Recently moved to Madison, Wisconsin with a group of friends after being “shaken” by the murder of his next door neighbour. Hughes had contracted pneumonia as a baby which caused him to lose his hearing. Tony had five siblings and graduated from the Delavan School For the Deaf.
Konerak Sinthasomphone
1976-1991 (age 14.) The youngest of four brothers, Konerak enjoyed playing soccer, swimming and talking on the phone with his friends. He liked to watch Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Tom and Jerry and would draw pictures of the characters. He was excited about learning to drive in the coming years and was passionate about sports cars. Konerak tried to find humour in every situation. Sinthasomphone was very close with his brothers and parents. They had come to America from Laos when he was four years old. One brother, Somsack, had been drugged and molested by Dahmer in 1988, and the family believed Dahmer was in jail. Konerak’s parents have said their sons respect towards adults and authority figures may have been what led to him being lured by Dahmer. Konerak famously managed to escape from Dahmer’s apartment, but was brought back to the residence by police. Konerak spoke perfect english but was reportedly unable to do so at the time, possibly due to the head injury inflicted by Dahmer. (Though his father claimed the officers simply didn’t bother trying to listen to his son.) His brother Anoukone stated nobody could have reasonably thought his brother looked 19, a lie from Dahmer the police believed. The Sinthasomphone’s, including Konerak, were devout Buddhists.
Matt Turner aka Donald Montrell
1971 - 1991 (age 20). Matt Turner was described as bright and articulate. At the time of his death he had run away from home and was living in a halfway house. Turner/Montrell sang in his church’s choir. He met Dahmer at a Chicago pride parade.
Jeremiah Weinberger
1967-1991 (age 23.) Jeremiah had a lot of friends. He worked in customer service. According to Dahmer, Weinberger was exceptionally affectionate compared to other men he’d been with. He survived for two days after Jeffrey Dahmer performed an amateur lobotomy on him. His friends handed out and plastered flyers with his face around town with a toll free number to call with information after his disappearance. Described as outgoing and friendly, he was an amateur artist and kept his things exceptionally organized. He was also concerned with dressing well and always looking his best.

1966-1991 (age 24.) Lacy was a body building enthusiast with a 2 year old son. He was a track star in high school. He disappeared after going to the mall, last seen buying an ice cream cone.
Joseph Bradhoft
1965-1991 (age 25.) The father of three children, he had recently moved in with his brother to look for a job. Bradhoft did have a domestic assault charge against his girlfriend. According to police records, he punched her and threatened to slash the tires of her car. He enjoyed sports and fishing.
