Yeah so Kieran gets a lot of sh*t from pretty much everyone about selling out on the O’Driscoll’s but like. When I actually think about it he’s a pretty tough motherf*cker. Like listen, I don’t have any sense of loyalty to anyone who hasn’t earned it. If the O’Driscolls told me “yeah we can kill you or you can be our slave” and I agreed to it? F*ckinnn idc who it is, different gang, cops, Pinkertons– if I was captured you wouldn’t have to f*ckin torture me to rat them out. B*tch I’d sell Colm to satan for a corn chip. B*tch bye. So basically what I’m saying is me doing that out of sheer spite, of f*cking course I’d rat on them if you threatened to kill me. Kieran’s reasoning was fear, but like. Sh*t. From comments by him and others, he was held by them for like a month. Of being tied up, freezing, starving, and dehydrated. Idc if that’s out of fear man. I have severe anxiety and I would give in so f*cking fast lmao, even if I was scared sh*tless of Colm. Bc like. Dude I could die any day. Dehydration or hypothermia. And I’m sorry but Dutch, Bill, and Arthur looming over you while you’re tied up, weak af with your pants down is kinda the worst thing I can think of lmao. Giant angry men.

Anyway this post is a disaster but really what I’m floundering to say is that whenever I take more than two seconds to analyze Kieran’s personality, the more I realize that my initial impression of him was wrong lol. Never in my life have I ever been threatened in any way, so I have no idea how I’d hold up under torture or threat of torture, but I’d like to think that I’d last a long time or until they kill me before I rat out someone I love. But as much as people wanna believe love/loyalty/etc can be stronger than pain or psychological torture? Yeahhh the vast majority of people have a breaking point and that’s not weakness. So idk. I know the threat of Colm coming for his *ss is real and horrifying, but like. Usually one is going to focus on the Now, and Kieran was pretty f*cking resilient for lasting like a month being mentally and physically abused.

I agree with all of you, but we love Arthur, so maybe we’re more likely to see it from his perspective.

Did she miss out on the love of her life? Possibly.

Did she hurt a good man who did bad things (thinking high honor Arthur here), a man she knew could be good? Yes.

Could her influence have helped him change his ways, even leave the gang? No way of knowing, especially considering loyalty was all he cared about.

Could she have ruined her life, or even lost it, by marrying a gangster murderer robber outlaw? Most definitely.

Was that the reason she left him (a valid reason imo), or was it rather to abide her family, who judged her for her choice in partner, as Arthur believes the reason to be? Who knows?

I’ll include something I once said to Cris on the matter: I think she really gets Arthur, and her standards make sense, and they're right for each other, but not GOOD for each other. Like, they could both do better, if you get what I mean?

Their history and dynamic are sad all around. They could have made a good pair in a different life, I think.

Hiya Arya! Could I possibly request some soft Kieran content? I’ve been trying to draw him lately and he’s not agreeing with me but I love the horse man,, thank ya much, darlin’!!

Kieran liked butterflies when he was younger. Six years old, always chasing them around wanting to catch one some day. When he finally did, his little hand crushed the poor thing and Kieran cried for hours, fell asleep that night horrified of ever catching another butterfly.

He liked them when he was a teenager, but things were difficult. He hasn’t seen one in a while, keeps dreaming of them. The days are filled with horrors and the sound of gunshots, the nights frightening and cold.

Kieran discovered his old fondness of those tiny fluttering creatures again when he was older, after the Van der Lindes took him captive and all he could do was watch the butterflies scattered around on some days, never able to catch them.

Kieran Duffy loved butterflies. He watched them sitting by the water, out of reach but never out of sight; thinking that, if he could just catch one safely, he would be able to admire it up close.

He caught a little blue one a few weeks later, had it in a glass with holes in the lid and leafs on the ground.

The man was heartbroken to see the butterfly dead three days later, reminded of the first time he ever saw one and thinks that the butterfly he caught in his tiny little hands must’ve been blue, as well, if his memory didn’t just trick him.

Gang Natures

So I’m doing one of the nerdiest things I can think of right now: building a Fire Red/Leaf Green Pokemon team based on the RDR2 gang. With accurate natures (and no repeats), to the best of my ability.

Yeah, I know.

Anyway, here are the natures I’ve decided on. Any corrections/disagreements are welcome, as well any attempts to mock me for this. xD Come at me. (Help me.)

Arthur - modest

John - lax

Dutch - rash (locked in)

Micah - lonely (think about it)

Abigail - adamant

Bill - impish

Javier - calm

Jack - naive

Hosea - careful (locked in, it’s obv the best one for him)

Charles - quiet

Sadie - hasty

Sean - naughty

Lenny - mild

Kieran - bashful

Susan - bold

Trelawny - quirky

Mary-Beth - gentle

Tilly - brave

Pearson - jolly

Swanson - serious

Strauss - hardy (think about it)

Uncle - relaxed (duh)

Karen - sassy

unused natures: timid, docile

edit: forgot Molly! How could I?!?!?! I think docile actually suits her the best.

2nd edit: Molly is now naive. Jack is now timid. (based on his personality in RDR2 epilogue, as I know he acquires a more hardened nature after going through some shit in the first game, but damn, all tween Jack wanted to do was stay inside all day and read)
