the thing about passover is while there's more easy snack food (matzo is so good i will just eat it plain sometimes) but all the more nutritious meals i can cook for myself or buy premade aren't kosher (rice, ramen, chippy salsa, sandwiches, frozen stuff etc) so i end up effectively eating nothing but (unleavened) bread. which isn't great. Oh well time to have matzo for breakfast

in other news yesterday i ate a fruit off the ground and discovered that several ornamental trees near our house have fruit that makes good jam (supposedly) (they're fairly bland raw however)

to bring up more authors no one will understand me talking about, permutation city is like if qntm knew how to end a story BEFORE the power creep gets too absurd. which is great
greg egans worldbuilding is so interesting to me and has a very unique flavor to it... granted i haven't read most of his work since he's really prolific but it's just very interesting to see multiple instances of what if through a completely different evolutionary path we arrived at essentially the same environment and culture as now, with some differences. and the thing is it WORKS for the kinds of stories he's telling but its interesting how it just feels so focused on completely different parts of worldbuilding from other stuff. Yeah in this world where multicellular life works entirely differently we still have humans and dogs and stuff. people reproduce asexually. morphotrophic is a good book and i ruined my sleep schedule reading the whole thing in one go

i think permutation city is still my favorite book, i think it has really strong character writing. but i love the weirdness of scale (which i haven't finished yet) and morphotrophic. and that one fucked up short story with all the intersecting dimension shit. very twilight zone Hey wouldn't it be fucked up if x but then you make it a whole book with a plot. the more insane far future space stuff is lost on me though i couldn't get into schildes ladder. Sorry

You can't cut soft cheese in thin slices or wedges because it just gets squished, but you can with hard cheese, cause the protein holds it together. Casein point:
