“...Your concerns are justified, it is not always easy to be accepted by the people of this world...” The hedgehog bluntly explained, crossing his arms.
“However...I have come to understand that it’s not always your past that defines you, but what you choose to do in the present. Perhaps your skills can be put towards helping others, ensuring that nobody else shall have to experience the losses you have. I think you’ll find that there’s a vast amount of people who would resonate with such a cause, and perhaps one day...You’ll find that you aren’t as alone as you thought you would be. Of course, that’s all up to you in the end.”
Shadow gave a hint of a smirk, resting a hand on his hip. He began to speak again, raising a clenched fist with triumphant confidence.
“But regardless of what path you follow, I can at least alleviate your other concerns...I may not know the details of why you were being pursued...But should your attackers arrive here to finish whatever it is they sought to start...I shall personally deal with them. I made a promise, long ago...To become a shadow that leads this world towards the light...The people who wronged you will be making a deadly error should they set foot here.”

Who knows how long that escape pod was floating in space. The plan was for her to land on the closest planet but that never happened. She kept floating and floating. Months went by, then years, then finally she was pulled by a planet.
A loud explosion went off as the escape pod crashed into the ground. It made the glass crack, filling the pod with clean air waking the pink cat up. She was so groggy and confused. There was smoke everywhere from the ship. She tried to rub her eyes a bit, then pushed open the hatch, hopping out of the ship. Her legs wobbled from lack of use. Mao looked around the trees around her. She’s never seen such things in person before. But that didn’t help her confusion at all. She leaned back over into the ship to see if the computer could tell her where she was, but the whole control panel seemed busted from the crash,
“Where am I nya? I wonder what happened to papa.” She commented out loud as she slid out of the ship again.

“I’ll lighten up when I see a good reason to do so.“
The hedgehog’s brow furrowed as she confirmed his suspicions...It was rare that he had heard of organic lifeforms with such potent Chaos powers...And it was usually something to be concerned about. That being said, her casual nature certainly wasn’t befitting of someone with malicious intent...Of course, that could merely be a bluff. He would have to play it cautiously.
“Would you mind telling me what you want with that emerald? I’m sure you’re aware of how dangerous it can be.” He wanted to get a proper feel for the rabbit first...Introductions could come after he was certain this wouldn’t be a complication in his mission.

A flash of light burst throughout the forest surrounding the castle ruins, Chaos Energy cracking within the vicinity as a black hedgehog appeared out of nowhere. With a soft “Hmph”, the hedgehog tossed a green emerald in the air, catching it, before tucking it away as his gaze shifted towards the nearby castle...
“Soleanna...But why does this place feel so...Familiar?” He pondered...He felt as though he had seen this place, somewhere...But when? It was like grasping at memories that had been ripped from his mind...Or had they ever existed to begin with? It didn’t matter, not for now...Shadow was here on a mission.
His Air Shoes flared up, as he made his way to the ruins. G.U.N. had recorded odd readings of what seemed to be some sort of Chaos Energy appearing sporadically in the surrounding areas...Last spotted in the ruins of “Kingdom Valley”, the historical home of Soleanna’s royal family. His mission was simple, track down the source of it all...The rest was left to his judgement...The Ultimate Lifeform carefully made his way through the castle, occasionally stopping to admire the long abandoned relics of what once was...While being sure to keep his eye out for anyone that could potentially relate to his mission.

Shadow’s traversal of the ruins were no longer aimless...He could feel an odd abundance of Chaos Energy...Not all that different from the energy his own body emitted. Could it be an emerald? No...Something was different...He slowly made his way towards the source, that feeling growing larger and larger as he drew closer...He heard a voice, asking something about an emerald...
“I was going to ask the same thing...But there’s more pressing concerns I’d have to address, first.” He spoke calmly, a low tone that just bordered on the fine line between formal, and threatening. The black hedgehog stood at the entryway, arms crossed, and gaze focused on her and the emerald...Something felt...off...Sure, she was holding an emerald...But the Chaos energy felt a lot more intense than just a single emerald...

He listened in silence...The story was certainly a familiar one to the Ultimate Lifeform...A genius scientist, and an enhanced lifeform, launched into space in a last ditch effort to keep them safe...Perhaps it was the sentimentality in him, but he believed her story. The cat was certainly a bit...Odd...But she seemed sincere. As she asked about the planet, his gaze met the sky above.
“...It was...Some time ago...The first time I made contact with this planet, I mean...Although I don’t remember any of it...Until then, I hadn’t ever visited a planet either, only looking down at them from above, or hearing tales of what it was like from...An old friend.”
He closed his eyes, arms crossed as his head lowered.
“...Your experiences echo my own, in some ways...I’m afraid I cannot reclaim that which you have lost, and I have seen the path an obsession with the past will lead someone on...but...Perhaps I can at least help you adjust to this new world.”

“...Fifty years ago...” The hedgehog muttered to himself, a certain...Softness...Briefly showing through his usually cold facade. It was clear that something she had said connected to him, in some capacity at least. He was still a bit distant, but his presence carried just a hint of empathy all of a sudden.
“...It’s not entirely out of the question, I’ve...Seen similar things in my lifetime.”
There was a moment of silence, before Shadow let out a sigh, hopping down as he peered inside the ship.
“Must be some impressive work, this ship...It doesn’t seem to have taken the crash very well, but it appears to have been durable enough to keep you safe for fifty years...Whoever built this, they knew what they were doing.” He admired, thinking back to the escape pod he had used so long ago...Whatever memories he may have been able to scrap together of it had mostly been lost, aside from the gruesome image that would linger in his mind for as long as he lived...But it must have been durable too, to survive such a fall...Yet even that pod wouldn’t have been able to sustain a person drifting in space for so long.
“Allow me to introduce myself, then...” He spoke a bit more gently, turning to face the cat.
“I...Am Shadow the Hedgehog. The world’s one and only...Ultimate Lifeform. The planet in which you’ve landed on...Is known as Earth.”

“Right on time…”
The hedgehog’s brow narrowed as he carefully watched the incoming pod…
Shadow had received a report from G.U.N. not long ago…Some sort of unidentified object was dangerously nearing the Earth’s atmosphere…It had almost been shot down, being mistaken for an asteroid…But upon closer inspection, it appeared to be some kind of…Vessel? Nothing inherently dangerous, so it seemed…Concerning nonetheless. Shadow was naturally selected to investigate the situation. The trajectory had been calculated, and Shadow arrived just in time to watch the pod crash into a nearby forest. With little hesitation, his Air Shoes flared up, and he dashed towards the crash site.
The sight was…Unexpected, to say the least. An animal, specifically a cat, it would seem. A pink one, no less. Not that he was complaining, so to speak. It was certainly preferable to some sort of alien threat…That being said, he would remain cautious. Appearances can be deceiving, after all.
A quiet “blip” could be heard nearby…Not even a second after, a voice spoke out from behind the cat.
“Perhaps I can answer those questions…If you’re willing to cooperate, that is.”
The black hedgehog stood atop the wreckage of her ship, arms crossed as he stared down at the girl.
“Let’s start simple…Just who are you, and where did you come here from?”
The pink cat’s ears twitched at the sound of a voice. She looked around in a puzzled manner before looking up at the top of her ship. She placed her hands on her hips, she frowned at him. She didn’t like it when people demanded information from her. After all, being raised by pirates, you got very used to avoiding questions. But he could offer her important information too.
“I could ask you the same thing, nya.” She gave him a little huff, “My name is Mao, and my father’s ship was attacked and he launched me out in an escape pod.”
Her tail twitched as her gaze lowered to the broken control panel of the ship, “I don’t know how long I was drifting in space… The computer stopped fifty years ago but that can’t be right, nya.” She didn’t feel like a fifty year old. Though she was put to sleep so her time must have frozen from the moment she left the ship.
“I’ve never been on a planet before, nya. Where is this? I think it’s your turn to talk, mister.”
