my college did a production of Stupid Fucking Bird (an adaptation of Chekov’s The Seagull). I was on costume crew and Assistant Stage Manager where I sat backstage with the headset. I’d watch the show through the curtain, etc. During the last show, my friend was doing their final monologue where they wave their drink around and shout at everyone, the audience, the cast. They were playing an old guy, who dies a few months after the play ends, and they go to take a drink in their monologue and just start CHOKING full on. Gagging, almost spitting, I’m about to call over headset to have someone do something but then they have the most INTENSE gasp for air and keep going. And because it fit so well in the scene THE DIRECTOR IN THE AUDIENCE thought it was just an “acting choice”
Apparently my director went to see a production of West Side Story a few years ago, and the guy playing Chino forgot his gun before coming out for his final scene. Once it got to the big scene where he is supposed to shoot Tony, he screeched “Poison Boots” and kicked the actor playing Tony until he went down. The girl playing Maria then had to jerk the shoe off of Chino’s foot, and had to do the gunshot scene asking “How many kicks Chino? How many kicks, and one kick left for me”.

Growing up fat, you get made fun of for everything you do, even basic shit like eating and laughing and breathing are funny when you do it because youre fat! And its so hard to not carry that with you as you get older, like I’m still embarassed to eat or dance in front of people or smile in pictures and its ridiculous and I hate it and I wish I was treated with more humanity
