So, as someone who has very little understanding of the plot of Rondo of Blood/Symphony of the Night, is general consensus that Shaft is likely season 2’s main villain. Cause I know the first series loosely followed three and Hectors game

One of those days were you make a rambling note of madness for Dual English about how “1984” relates to “Handmaid’s Tale”.
My friends have labeled it as a manic episode I call it a normal Friday.

*This episode of madness #5 was buried aligned.
(Episode 4 was mostly a combat session where they killed a man and looted stuff finding two sending stones)
They killed a man to get out of death house and met Ishmark. (Lancelot the dog is okay)
Ishmark isn’t running a slightly secret rebellion.
“Why is everyone in this town up their own ass”- Rinn
[Ishmark pats coffin] “here’s dad…he’s not as lively as he used to be.”
I should also mention it made sense in my brain that most Barovia coffins are wrapped in chains cause vampires.
A gravedigger who may or may not be employed to dig graves. Yes he will appear when a grave is needed. He just loves his job…and napping in graves. He later admits to murder.
Also Madam Eve is now the magic Russian grandma they must find, which fits. Anyone off to the card reading, next session.

One of my most brilliant ideas I’ve ever had as a dm is using tma fears as base ideas for nightmares. I’m so glad my party loves to roll dreams. Roll a d12 and you get all the fears that are easy to turn into nightmares. The end and extinction are left out but you definitely leave those for post character resurrection dreams. Although side thought is a tarrasque an avatar of the extinction in dnd.

Episode 3 of idiots in Barovia
So It’s officially become a thing where if Strahds name is said by a player near Ravenloft a bolt of lighting strikes behind the castle casting it in menacing shadows.
The tone of the Death House thus far is somewhere between the shining and the Simpson’s parody of the shining.
They fought with the animated armor, and that went okay, but one of the characters looted a shoulder pauldron so that’s fun.
The ranger fighter multi class decided to steal the old tiger skin rug cause I described it as bad taxidermy and the irl player loves that type of stuff.
Navy the Cleric tried to intimidate the house again leading to me giving them a vision of mannequins of doom. (They weeping Angel moved at them before turning into representations of them torn apart in mannequin form)
The mannequins were used for horror when Lukas the Paladin decided it would be a good idea to cut one open and stick his hand inside one and I got to describe it as wet and meaty, but upon looking inside of it, the dummy was made of straw. They also started blinking at just Lukas. My love of Magnus Archives have allowed me to be very skilled at mannequin based horror.
They found the dead kids and my ghost voice was cutting in and out for Lukas (we use discord) but he said it made the experience somewhat more creepy. I should also mention said irl player cannot stand horror movies, but he’s said I’ve been doing a good job being spooky.
Also general a-hole npc Maedhros (he’s a commander it’s a backstory thing) placed a sausage on the teifling’s horn as punishment for annoying him.
They also opened the basement which is going to be fun.
They also seem to be planning to burn down the house which will be very fun when it reforms next time they’re in Barovia.

Episode 2 of idiots in Barovia.
So they entered death house without a hitch, and the monks irl player is no longer sick so yay. They also said my name is lightning, like lightning McQueen without the McQueen. Which shows the tone of our monk.
There’s apparently a 400 year old textbook somewhere on the Durst family due to a very high history check roll.
Yeah guys this atmosphere is suffocating- Navy the Cleric
They went upstairs and entered the library and I had a sonigram (because old timey technology is fun) play the run rabbit song and get caught on the record at run. The cleric mended it.
Cleric also used thuamaturgy on the windows of the house to assert dominance I think, the house did it back.
“Why do you keep messing with this creepy ass house”-Berrian the gunslinger
“Because I’m not scared, what about you lighting.”-Navy the Cleric
“Scared shitless”-Lightning the Monk
I also used the monks high passive to say they kept seeing things out of the corner of their eye, cause ghosts.
I have also added a dog Lancelot and an NPC Maedhros to be moral debated over murdering them to get around a possible tpk, but those shadows are staying!!!
Cleric used thuamaturgy to find the library door by knocking the books off the shelf except the hidden one.
[After reading Strahds letter] “Why’s he so extra”-Lightning the monk
“He’s just like that.”-DM
Upon encountering the asleep (do animated magic items sleep or is it more of a stasis?) animated armor standing in a menacing location, the cleric thought to use thuamaturgy to knock it down and it began shaking like a leaf and sounding like a freight train before slowly turning its head to stare at the cleric. Session ended with it taking itself off the stand and reading to attack.
Overall my Paladin and Rangerighter (ranger fighter multi class) were sick menacing my old players were watching the door and it was literally three newbies on deck and they were very very good.

Episode 1 of the nameless idiots do Curse of Strahd.
Some people were late so it felt like the entire party came out of the same restroom in the tavern.
Arrigal, some how became Tom Hiddleston
There’s a small mouse named Richard who lives in the clerics pocket.
“The fog is rolling in and very thick.”-dm
“How thick?”-Lukas the Paladin
“Like the type of fog from Scooby Doo where he could bite it thick”-dm
Kolyon Kolayonvich, was falsely written in the letter, by both strahd and dm.
“The fog is getting closer”-dm
“Oh like a warm hug, it’s comforting.”-Navy the cleric
“Suure”-dm
Strahd was introduced in disguise on the road and players thought he was a bandit or werewolf and dropped silver into his hands to see what he’d do. Paladin insight checked him to oblivion. Strahd now has sights set on said Paladin
The ravens now sound like Micheal Keaton beetlejuice when talk with animals is used. One of them was bought off via a dice because that’s just how ravens are.
Overall considering I had two people who never played dnd before, very good session

Thranduil could have just chased Sauron out of the forest with HOA violation fines.
“No non-native plants are allowed to be planted without HOA approval. That’ll be a $500 fine.”
“Your evil lair is the wrong shade of black. Please consult the HOA pamphlet for approved paint colors.”

Crying shaking throwing up over the fact that the only reason the One Ring was destroyed in the end was because Bilbo spared Smeagol’s life out of mercy and pity and the goodness of his heart and that goodness saved everyone in Middle Earth and I know probably everyone already knows that and there’s a million posts like this but Tolkien just said love and kindness and mercy is the only way we are ever going to accomplish anything

So, as a DM running Curse of Strahd for the first time. (Note we haven’t started the campaign) I fear the monk, the cleric definitely will definitely be a war criminal, and the fighter ranger multi class has already promised to cry at least once. The two PCs who don’t have sheets yet, one has already said they will gladly betray the group and the second is his partner. I love dnd.
