read something recently that said a majority of people don’t have a wall clock these days, thought it was interesting since I’ve always considered it an essential and functional piece of home decor.

I have a lot of thoughts on episodes we shoulda gotten in 13’s era so ima reblog this everytime I think of a new one, but here’s a list of them so far
One focusing on yaz’s depression (I believe that yaz was depressed both bc of being bullied and having no friends and a chemical imbalance, maybe she runs out of meds at one point on the tardis and we see how 13 tries to help? Or it could be like through various flashbacks)
One about Ryan’s grief, both for grace and his mom- with bits about his relationship with his dad
One about Graham… idk what it could be but I like Graham and he should get an episode
One about Dan, again idk what but that man is criminally underdeveloped
One where River meets yaz and 13. It’d be so fun.
One where 13 and yaz get stuck somewhere together, preferably after both realize their feelings (altho having it before would be equally entertaining)
An episode with yaz’s sister as an important character
One where yaz gets taken by a villain and 13 becomes a tornado of fury to get her back
Like 10 more episodes with ONLY yaz and 13 as the main 2, like in the time period between graham/ryan and dan
13 and yaz going on a date, whether they know it’s a date or not
More episodes with Kate, her dynamic with 13 could be brilliant

Ooh, thank you for reminding me to post occasionally. Gotta keep up the facade that Tumblr is still functioning even though it isn't popular anymore.

If this isn't already in a fic it will be very soon
Do you think yaz was named after herself? That as she grew up umbreen remembered the British people who crashed her wedding? That on her birthday, when she gives yaz the watch she made the connection? Or if she meets the doctor she does?
Do you think umbreen knows it was her yaz at her wedding?

Having the two main characters in a story...any story, including Doctor Who sometimes... becoming romantically involved might be the default setting, so to speak, but that doesn't mean it can't be done well and in such a way that it connects with the audience
You know what? I'm gonna say it. As someone who is asexual and on the aromantic spectrum myself, I'm a bit tired of the Doctor Who fans who all say that Donna is the best companion of Ten's just because they were best friends and nothing more and that automatically makes her the best companion of RTD and for a lot of you, the best companion overall.
Listen, I LOVE Donna. Adore her. And I also think that her friendship with the Doctor is amazing. But it has always rubbed me the wrong way that the companions who have a romantic interest in the Doctor (and let me tell you, there is textual evidence for every one of them that the feelings were reciprocated in some way) are somehow considered lesser BECAUSE of that interest. That just because they fell for the Doctor means that their relationship with the Doctor is cheapened in some way.
I personally think that just as platonic relationships should not be considered lesser than romantic ones, the same goes in reverse. Amy, Clara, Martha, Rose, River, and Yaz's feelings may have some weak writing decisions attached to them, but so does Donna.
Personally, I love Donna's character arc/the tragedy of her ending, but I've always felt a little disappointed by the fact that her becoming the DoctorDonna in Journey's End was not predicated on her strong characterization/choices (Ala Planet of the Ood/Fires of Pompeii) but by "fate" pushing it to happen. It's honestly more Dalek Caan than Donna making all that happen.
This is NOT to say that I don't love Donna, but just to say that the fact that she had no romantic feelings for the Doctor doesn't automatically catapult her above the rest. Romantic feelings can lead to just as interesting, well-developed character arcs/complicated dynamics as platonic ones can, from the creator/created reciprocated question mark wanting but unable to choose each other over everything dynamic of 11amy to the fascinating destroying each other saving each other one taking all of the emotional toll but honestly craving that prophet-god relationship of 10martha to the shaping each other making each other kinder and braver reminding each other there is hope dooming and saving each other of 9rose to the full dooming each other but running straight at it full tilt because we are purposefully ignoring the turn back now signs of 10rose to the batshit insane codependent reflecting each other refracting each other who is Orpheus and who is Eurydice of 12clara to the there was always someone else in the room keeping us apart but you somehow became my whole world and I knew you from birth to death and we will never be anything more than a shut door of 13yaz to the you doomed me and saved me and you hate me but you might have loved me once and i will spend the rest of my life devoted to you dynamics of 10jack 11river and 12river.
Every relationship is interesting and personal preference might steer you in a certain way due the character arcs/ending preferences/etc., but elevating one over the other because the companion wasn't "foolish" enough to fall in love with the mad genderfluid alien in a box who ran away with you and stole you away to the stars doesn't sit well with me. Romance doesn't cheapen a relationship just as it doesn't automatically make it the ultimate relationship, either.

So, someday when Jodie returns as the Thirteenth Doctor...if it's something fairly short and quick, like a cameo appearance or maybe one of Big Finish's Quick Trips, that's like peanut butter on a cracker. When you just need a lil' somethin' to ease the hunger, y'know?
But if it's a full episode or more, a complete Big Finish audio story, that sort of thing...that's a nice, big peanut butter sandwich.
But wait...that sandwich is a bit dry. It needs something else, some moisture, some lubrication...that peanut butter sandwich needs some jelly.
Yes I just used jelly as a metaphor for Yaz.

And the fact that 13 ultimately chose not to "fix herself" to these things while 10's physical clone 14 did get the house with windows and carpets...
the doctor went from 10's "i'd rather die then pay a mortrage and i don't want to settle down, find a job and have a house with windows and carpets" to 13's "i want a flat and i want a purple sofa to sit on it and i want to have a small shop to sell sweets" and it breaks my heart that they didn't have to experience this.

To the Doctor, human companions aren't merely pets, they're full-on emotional support service animals who happen to look just like Timelords. Beings that can not only love the Doctor back, but may also help fill the emptiness the Doctor feels from being cut off from their people.
this is probably an unpopular opinion but I think interpreting the doctor as passively evil is an interesting character experiment. like, by human standards they’re pretty much an immortal, ancient, godlike entity. they travel all of time and space, saving or destroying entire civilizations on a whim. they travel with humans because they’re obsessed, almost addicted, to human mortality and naivety. sure, they claim to love their companions, but involvement in their lives almost always ends in misery, and then it’s onto the next. imagine the TARDIS filled with abandoned bedrooms, clothes on the floor, beds unmade, toothpaste in the sink. their things frozen in time, dust-covered and tomblike. and the doctor is drifting through space, surrounded by evidence of all the lives they’ve ruined. anyway, if anyone has evil doctor fic recommendations pls drop them below.
