something you can do to help out an artist when working with them is to draw a rough sketch of the composition you want. even if you draw a literal stick figure it helps immensely in interpreting your idea! here's a sketch the client provided for this commission;

Do you charge extra for multiple characters in a shot? I wanna commission you in about a month (granted you're still open for commissions then) and I wanna know if I should save extra or not.

i charge per character, so if you were to request two half body characters, that would be 160 USD without environment background. also i'm going to be out of town for most of may, so you either need to commission me now or wait until after (which might not be entirely likely to be open then since when i come back i'm going to be planning a move for a new job)

people used to ask me how to get popular, while at the same time i was being harassed in the comments of my posts with people saying things like "this is so cursed" "why does (x) look so weird", people telling me i needed to "learn fundamentals" over arguably minor mistakes, people either being racist or telling me i'm the racist somehow, homophobes in the comments, people getting mad when i was improving my skill because they mistook my lack of understanding as a "style" and told me my art is so bland now. and having to deal with all that while making WAY less than minimum wage trying to do freelance because it was the only thing available to me at the time. it's not glamorous. i'm definitely looking forward to transitioning to drawing for hobby

Small artists you need to understand that when you see an artist who you think has 'made it' tells you not to worry about the numbers and to not fret about getting more likes than reblogs they are not telling you it because they think you are stupid for caring or because they dont need to network to survive they are very likely telling you that because they have witnessed first hand the way the numbers game tears people to shreds in terms of mental health and motivation

So apparently some people new to Tumblr think a repost and a reblog are the same thing, so when they see creators asking for people to not repost, they're thinking the creators are saying to not reblog 😭

Y'all, a repost is when you copy/download the work and create a new post using the work making it seem as if it's yours. A reblog is you using a site provided feature to share the creator's post directly from the creator so that it's still credited to them and they still get all of the traction/notes from the work.

Please, reblog fics/art/etc. that you enjoy! Reblogging is not reposting! Creatives need support too, and reblogging is a way to do that!
