I really enjoyed Trolls 3 but there were a few things that bothered me. The main one being how Poppy handled Branch’s feels and valid concerns about his brothers (specifically John Dory). Long post incoming lmao.

I think one of the main reasons I loved World Tour when it came out was how it handled one of Poppy’s main character flaws: not listening to others. With optimistic characters like her, it’s easy for them to lean heavily into that “everything is great and positive and there’s nothing we can’t fix!” attitude. World Tour showed that that type of mentality can be detrimental to others when there’s real danger around. In the scene after the Rock Trolls attacked the Funk Trolls and Cooper sent them away in a bubble, Branch expresses his frustration with Poppy for not listening to him and several other trolls who tried to advise her/tell them how they felt the whole movie. And at one point he says “you never listen to me”. Poppy seems to internalize what both Branch and Biggie said to her in the end, but I think Band Together backtracked on that progress.

I understand Poppy wanted what was best for Branch but she truly was not listening to him. Instead, she just kept talking about hypotheticals, and what she would do if she had a sibling without taking into account Branch’s actual relationship with his. One of my biggest pet peeves is when people vent about their family to someone, and then that person tells them they’re lucky to have their family, and that they wish they had what the other person has. It’s very unhelpful and tone deaf. I just wish Branch had a moment in Band Together where he confronts Poppy about that like he did in World Tour.

I know people like to meme/joke about it a lot, but Branch’s story really is tragic if you actually think about it. He’s held onto guilt over his grandmother’s death, and the separation of his brothers for decades. He spent years thinking that his brothers would one day come back to him, and eventually, slowly, came to the realization that they never would. Now, years later, he’s face to face with them and is being told by Poppy that he should be grateful that he’s with them despite everything that’s happened? Idk it just didn’t sit right with me, specially because it was never fully addressed as an issue.

I’ll never get around to drawing/writing this BUT Hannibal Cutthroat Kitchen AU where Hannibal is the host and the contestants are unknowingly cooking people during those insane challenges. And Will goes undercover on the next season as a contestant bc he believes that TV personality Hannibal Lector is somehow behind the string of murders that have been going on in that area and the closest he can get to him is to become a contestant on the show. And Jack reluctantly pulls some strings to get Will on the show bc he wouldn’t Shut Up about it and it’s messing with how efficient he is at his job. The problem is Will actually has to compete and he sucks at cooking anything but fish dishes, but for some Mysterious Reason he keeps winning the challenges okay goodnight 💀

Ideas from months ago that I just got around to drawing 💀

I mean Gwen is 16 months older than Miles, so if Hobie is 16 months older than her, then he’s 32 months older than him, which is like 2 years and seven months older, which is forever for teens, like enough for entirely different social practices. So it still fits.

I’m not entirely sure what this is in reference to (the “so it still fits” part), but when Kemp Powers said Hobie was “much older” than Miles, I’m assuming it’s not just 2 years or so. You’re right about age differences feeling bigger when people are teenagers, but I’d be more inclined to believe the 2 year age gap if Miles or Gwen had said it. Since it’s Powers I don’t think he’d mean it like that. I know we haven’t gotten an official age for Hobie in ATSV but I’m assuming it’s early 20s or something like that
