I really hate how stuff like "grippy socks girlie chic" is become popular like with that one tiktok of a girl saying she hospitalzed herself for feeling anxious and she took out her phone to talk about the scary mentally ill people there.. i was involuntary hospitalized several times (Especially hard with autism as i was ripped from my schedule and any items that gave me comfort) for pschosis related things (also i was never allowed a phone in any hospital or computer. we had like an indoor wall pay phone that we could use to call someone once a day if we were good)

And i will say this. sometimes i was scared of the other people living there. but not because they didnt have quirky mentall illness but i was more scared for them. when someone decided to share in group i would get so mad for them because they went through awful awful shit that no tween-teenager should never go through (i think it was my autistic sense of right and justice). i would get anxious for them, i didnt want to be a trigger for them i wanted to be a nice person they could relax with (i often snuck cookies into the bedrooms to share) because this space is scary and dehumanizing enough without trauma or illness

Id never take out my phone and record people in psychaitric hospitals… they would be the last thing on my mind. when i was hospitalized my firth thought was "why are these people doing a cavity search on me i just came from the er"

Best part about working with kids in an educational setting is purposefully just lying about things… “why is that taxidermied polar bears teeth yellow” Because sweet boy he didn’t brush his teeth

As a tadpole when i first heard the story about icarus and his wax wings i thought “hrm i would simply not fly too close to sun with meltable wings” but as i grew older i think i get it because if had that sort of freedom finally i would probably fly too close to the sun and let its warmth hit my face or too close to the ocean and drag my hand in the waves and smell the salt in the air

I really like how hide and die syndrome is described here…. i cant really put into words but the idea that our brain, when put under such harsh conditions, regresses to when we were small primitive mammals in a last ditch effort for protection really resonates with me. Like how as a child when youre scared you cry for your guardian but they cant really defend you from a monster under the bed or …something under the stairs (Teehee)
