Meet you again
I know my love will come
Maybe not in a few days
Or even weeks or months
Maybe it will even take some years
To find me all alone
But I know it's worth the wait
And when we'll meet
Time will slow down
You'll be a stranger to my eyes
But my heart and soul
Will recognize you
From a different lifetime
We were separated by the world
But the string between us
Knows where we belong
When the time is right
We will collide
I can't wait to meet you again

Part of me
I wish you liked lasagna
Not the one from some fancy restaurant
But the one you would eat
Every Sunday at your nonna's home
I wish you listened to "sarà perché ti amo"
Not because you heard it on TikTok twice
Rather, because it reminds you
Of ten hour long summer rides
I wish you would call ice cream "gelato"
And that you would roll the r
That old people from town are "zio" and "zia"
Even if you don't know who they are
I wish you had three uncles with the same name
And a bunch of little cousins
That at parties the women would dance
While the men play cards and have discussions
I wish you could relate
To this part of me
You don't know
How happy I'd be

Day after day
When you are younger
You seem to know the world
Know how it's made
Know how it works
But the older you get
The more you forget
The passions and joys
You once had
But how is it
That you know everything at 16
And nothing at 21?
You have all the choices
But can't seem to make one
And all the roads
You decide to take
Just feel like dead ends
In the end
Growing isn't easy
But it's the only way
So I take small steps
Day after day

Temple
"The body is a temple"
That's what they all say
But when I look in the mirror
I don't think of mine that way
Maybe it was one
A long time ago
But I can't remember
Anything at all
'Cause what I see is debris
All over the the place
And on too many days
I can't even look at my face
The scars too red
The curves too wide
The problem areas flashy
I just wanna hide
I dislike you so many times
For all you do is keeping me alive

Without of you
Two countries One mind Two languages Combined One house Two homes Pressure To the bones 'Cause I'm both And nothing at all I'm torn Where do I belong? A stranger Everywhere I go Like a daisy In the snow My look different From the ones around My tongue too weak When I travel abroad It's written in my blood And in my soul My destiny Carved in stone So my heart Will always beat for two 'Cause I can't imagine a life Without one of you

Forget-me-not
There are many things I do forget
Like if I took my medicine
Or did my bed
But I remember how
You always smiled
Even when pain
Lived just inside
I remember you
In your yellow shirt
Your ringtone
Chirping like a bird
I remember our long walks
Through the town
From spring to fall
Till the leafs turned brown
I remember how
You didn't talk much
But with me
You always kept in touch
I remember
The flames on your cheeks
The glasses up your nose
The crossword puzzles
The Italian talk shows
Some things may fade over time
But all these memories combined
Will stay by my side
'Cause like the flower
I will never forget
Even if it's been ten years
That you left

Poetry is easy
"Being a poet is easy" they say
"You rhyme up some words and call it a day"
But like humans, poetry has a beating heart
That feels and breaks, that ends and starts
"It's fragile and innocent" one might recall
"The theme being love or nothing remarkable at all"
But like us, poetry has a mind on their own
Harmful and scary to the bone
Poetry is like a wild animal society tries to tame
Some might try but will still loose the game
So a poet's vocation isn't to change poetry in some way
It's to combine all their facets into a play
To give them freedom, to give them peace
To give them space, to let them breath
If you have such a power in your hands
If you are truly someone who understands
Be a poet and illuminate the art
Buried deep-down in all our hearts

I'm the one
I wished on too many shooting stars
For the things I've already had in my arms
"If I wait long enough they want me too"
And I waited for eternity like a fool
I chased their steps, never my own dreams
But I learned to stop looking for the in-betweens
Violence is never the answer, I know for a fact
But I needed that slap from destiny to get my dignity back
Now I wear my own initial around my neck
'Cause I'm the one that got to know me best

You sit with me at every meal
You hold my hand when I fall asleep
You give me hope and give me peace
Catching me before I fall too deep
You take care of my heart
Protecting the pieces that crumble apart
I can't believe all the things you do
'Cause in the end I will never know you

Why do we wait for snow
But run from the rain?
Why do we admire the butterflies
But moths only deserve pain?
Why do we love and hate the same?
The paradox
Of the human brain

"I hope true love will find you one day"
But what if I never met the right person?
"Oh darling, you must be a foul for believing a force this powerful could only be found in a human"
