Okay so I'll definitely revise this if we learn more about the Rat Grinders and their motivations but I think the takeaway from Kipperlilly Copperkettle (or an even greater mastermind) leading her group down this incredibly dark path from the seemingly reasonable position of wanting things to be "fair" is how easy it is to become a villain if you are always assuming that no else has good intentions or valid lived experiences. It's a very selfish, juvenile understanding of fairness that some people never grow out of

I was talking with my therapist about why I put off going to the doctor (besides financial reasons lol) and she asked about some of my early medical experiences I remember and after a while it was like oh yeah. I had anxiety as a kid and I still associate going to the doctor with getting yelled at because of some pediatrician with a shitty bedside manner 25 years ago.
