Mess around and find out.
Angst
Pt 10 to You Drew Stars
“We’re almost there.” Tech’s voice rang out through the otherwise silent cockpit as he exited hyperspace.
Hunter glanced up from sharpening his knife and took in the view of the large planet. The world seemed flush with life as mountains rose and trees filled the land. You wouldn’t think that this world would have a secret lab conducting unlawful experiments with kidnapped clone troopers… Clearly the perfect choice for the empire to set up such a dangerous operation.
“We will have approximately three minutes when I land to get inside without being detected by security.” Tech stated once again.
“Got it.” Hunter put the storm trooper helmet on that Rex obtained for them.
He already didn’t like the way the suit fit him or how it was a lot less mobile then the uniform he used to wear when he was fighting for the republic… How times have changed.
“Wrecker, make sure you get the ship somewhere inconspicuous and wait for our signal… And it all else fails… Do what you do best.” Tech stated.
He then motioned for Wrecker to take the controls as soon as he landed the ship near one of the secret entrances to the mountain.
“Let’s go.” Hunter stated.
Echo and Tech followed behind him, each wearing an identical storm trooper outfit to Hunter’s. They remained quiet and vigilant as they entered the mountain and made their way up one of the ventilation shafts.
When Echo peaked his head out and saw that the coast was clear, they exited the vent and began pretending as if they belonged there.
The three stayed clear of any suspicious personnel that could blow their cover as they made their way to the level that they were keeping clone troopers.
“Up ahead and to the right.” Tech voice spoke through their personal comms.
They entered the room and was met by rows of multiple clone troopers being held against their will.
“He should be in one of these cells.” Echo said as they began their search.
Each cell was met by another familiar face, but none with the signature crosshair tattoo and permanent scowl.
“Can I come with you? Please? I can’t just sit here waiting a moment longer. I’ll go crazy.” Omega pleaded with Phee as she was boarding her ship.
“I know, but your brothers insisted that you stay here and I didn’t expect an urgent call from Sid. It should only take half a day tops and I’ll be back for dinner alright?” Phee tried to say.
“See! You said it yourself. Only half a day tops which means I should be able to go with you!” Omega begged and the look in her big eyes that quickly made Phee fold.
With a sigh, Phee motioned for the young girl to follow her, “Alright, but you have to listen to everything I say. Promise?”
Omega nodded eagerly as she strapped herself in the copilots seat, “Promise.”
“And I expect to get one of those smoothies that you and Wrecker have been making.” Phee said with a small grin.
Omega crossed her heart, “As soon as we get back I promise to make you one.”
“Do you think he might be on another level? Did we miss something?” Hunter asked as he looked into another cell.
Each cell they past left an empty feeling in each of their hearts. One, that their clone brethren were locked up and two, because their brother was nowhere to be found. The image of what has become of their brothers in arms have left a permanent scar in their minds.
Tech shook his head, “Negative. All clones have been stationed here in this cell block.”
“But he’s not just any type of clone.” Hunter shook his head, “They could have transferred him somewhere else.”
“I highly doubt that. He has to be here. There is no other place where he could be.” Tech urged as they moved forward.
“I’m going to check the layout and see if there’s a turn up ahead.” Tech looked at his data pad following behind Echo and Hunter.
“Let’s not give up just yet. We’ll keep searching until we find him.” Echo said with certainty laced in his voice.
“What did Sid say that she needs to talk about anyways?” Omega wondered as she swung her legs.
“Don’t know.” Phee shrugged, keeping her eyes on the stars while she flew her ship, “She just said that it was important. Maybe if we’re lucky enough, it’ll be another treasure hunt.”
“Oo!” Omega’s eyes lit up, “We haven’t gone in one of those in a while! That would be fun and I’m sure my mo-” Omega suddenly stopped swinging her feet as her happy expression fell realizing she caught herself forgetting again.
“I lost my mom when I was young too.” Phee mentioned when the silence grew heavy, “She was an amazing women. The best treasure hunter in the entire galaxy and one day… Something went wrong and I never saw her again.” Phee spoke gently, “It’s the memories that you have that counts so don’t be sad. Be proud.”
Omega nodded, “I just… I feel that she’s still here with us somehow.”
“I feel like that about my mom too.” Phee said.
Omega fell back into her seat, leaning her head against the headrest, “She would have liked a treasure hunt.”
Phee smiled softly, “I’m sure she would have.”
They were cutting it close as their pace quickened with each turn. They knew that it was only a matter of time before storm troopers will be poking their heads around the corner and figuring out they weren’t actually one of them.
This whole mission was dangerous and yet none of them would turn back. Not if it meant saving their brother.
“There!” Echo quickly pointed towards one of the last few cells.
Hunter let out a breath of relief as the three of them ran up to the cell.
There they found Crosshair, barely moving on the ground with bruises swelling over his skin. It looked like he had been through hell…
What happened to him? Hunter thought as Tech quickly got to work on disarming the cell shield.
“None of the others look as bad as he does.” Echo mentioned what Hunter was just thinking, “They wouldn’t have done this to just any clone… There must have been a reason…”
Hunter and Tech both nodded in agreement.
“Maybe because of Omega?” Hunter questioned.
“That is highly plausible. The cell should be open… Now.” Tech stated and suddenly the shield vanished.
Hunter and Tech quickly made their way to help their brother up as Echo stood guard.
“Crosshair.” Tech gently shook his brothers arm and doing a quick scan to check his vitals.
To that touch, Crosshair reached up and held his brother’s arm in his own death grip.
“Don’t touch her.” Crosshair growled before he fell unconscious again.
“Her?” Tech furrowed his brows underneath the helmet, “Crosshair, who are you talking about?”
“What does he mean by her?” Echo asked as he glanced towards the three in the cell.
“I don’t know, but we have to go. We’ll ask him later.” Hunter shook his head before helping Tech lift their brother in their arms.
“Echo, we need to get to a database. Rex requested we obtain all information about Project Light.” Hunter ordered and as quickly as he was trained to do, Echo tracked down where they needed to be.
“You need… Go…” Crosshair was once again fading in and out of consciousness as he muttered each word, “In… Trouble…”
“We’ll go soon, brother.” Hunter tried to console his brother as they entered a room filled with computer systems, “Just hold on a bit longer.”
Echo quickly inserted himself into the data base and began searching for the proper file that he needed.
Suddenly they were sealed shut inside the room as red lights and a loud alarm started blaring throughout the base.
“I think they suspect we are here.” Tech stated as a matter of fact.
Echo, Tech, and Hunter took off their helmets.
Hunter sighed, “Didn’t notice.”
Hunter looked to Echo with urgency, “Echo where are we at with those files?”
“Almost there.” Echo muttered without looking away from the screen, “You just need to buy me some time.”
“Come on. Up out of your seat little copilot.” Phee patted Omega’s shoulder as soon as she landed the ship.
The two were off the ramp and heading towards Sid’s bar without a worry in their mind, save for the boys of course. They both only wished that they would come back safe and sound with Crosshair.
“Oddly quiet tonight.” Phee remarked as she noticed the streets were pretty bare, unlike what she was used to seeing.
“I’m going to head to Sol and grab some cakes for my brothers if that’s okay?” Omega asked.
Phee nodded her head, not seeing the harm in it, “Sure thing. Grab me a snack while your at it too. Something fruity.” Phee smiled as she pulled out some credits and handed them to the girl.
Omega nodded her head and took off, leaving Phee to continue the rest of the way to Sid’s.
“Hey Sid!” Phee called out the the older woman as soon as she stepped into the bar.
It only occurred to her then that the place was empty also and a unwanted feeling began to make its way through her chest, sending pulses to her brain that told her to run.
“I’m sorry, but I need to know where the kid is Phee.” Sid appeared from her office, followed by two storm troopers, a short man in a coat and…
“You…” Phee’s eyes widened at the sight in front of her.
The cloaked woman’s body was covered by a black coat with a hood to conceal her face.
Phee held her breath as she waited for the mysterious form to reveal themselves. Slowly, the figure pulled the hood down with a metal arm to reveal a face that confirmed Phee’s gut feeling.
Phee breathed out in disbelief and happiness, “You’re alive.”
It was the man in the coat that spoke next.
“My name is Dr. Hemlock. Sid here told us all about you and how much you love treasure.” He threw a bag onto a nearby bar table and the remnants inside revealed jewels that she has never even seen before, “I know you are a smart woman and you don’t want to be caught up in this mess so be a dear and tell us where Omega is.”
Phee glanced at the bag intently. She slowly looked at the Jedi who had a glazed look over her eyes as if she wasn’t even present.
“What did you do to her?” Phee glared at the doctor.
“Don’t mind your friend, she wouldn’t even remember you even if you tried to tell her.” Hemlock waved his arm and without a second thought, the General ignited her lightsaber.
“Now. I am pretty sure I have made us a fair trade here.” Hemlock said and this time his voice was far from kind, “Tell me where the girl is.”
Hunter could hear footsteps quickly approaching them. He placed the rest of Crosshair’s weight to Tech before he smashed the key code to enter the room.
“That should buy us some time, but not a lot.” Hunter stated, but with a less than confident look as the banging continued outside of the door.
“Hunter…” Echo’s voice was oddly quiet as he stared at the screen in front of him.
“What?” Hunter turned to look in Echo’s direction.
He didn’t like the way that Echo looked up as if he had just seen a ghost.
“What is it?” Hunter repeated, his voice snipped as he waited for Echo to give him an answer.
“It’s.. It’s the general…” Echo took a pause to collect himself, “She’s still alive.”
Omega felt herself slow her run as she reached the Sol cafe. The lights had been shattered inside, leaving the cafe as dark as the street outside.
“Omega?” A familiar voice called out to her.
She hasn’t heard it in quite a while, but the waiter poked his head out from behind a booth with wide blue eyes, “What are you doing here?” Indul asked.
Omega rushed to him, wincing as she saw the deep gash that scarred his right leg.
“Are you alright? What happened to you?” She asked as she looked around at the destroyed restaurant.
“I don’t know who they are… There was one one… Black robe, they wore a hood and wielded a lightsaber. They killed Jun.” He pointed shakily to the kitchen.
He looked up panicked and scared, “They came in here looking for you Omega… You need to run. Get away as far from here as you can.” He struggled to talk through the steering pain, but the urgency was president in his voice.
Her hands hovered over his wound, not sure of what to do, “I can find Phee and she can help you.” Omega said as she stood.
“I don’t need any help.” Indul shook his head with a sigh, “But you can’t go out there by yourself.” Indul struggled to stand, “I’ll go with you.”
Omega immediately shook her head and gently sat him back down, “I’ll be fine, you need to stay still.”
“Mary is grabbing some medical supplies for my leg.” Indul assured as he placed his hand on top of hers, “Go… And may the force be with you.”
“Tick tok.” Dr. Hemlock spoke in a bored tone as he glanced at his watch.
“I won’t.” Phee shook her head as she took a step back and crossed her arms, “I don’t know how many pirates you’ve come across, but I ain’t one of them.”
Hemlock sighed, “I really hoped that you would have been more easily suaded like your dear friend Sid here, but I suppose it can never be that easy twice, can it?” Hemlock motioned to his new toy, “Kill her and find the girl.”
The Jedi stepped forward, a murderous look in her gaze as she lifted her lightsaber.
Phee raised her hands up, “You don’t have to do this. Please.” She said as she took a few steps back, the jedi matching with a step of her own.
Suddenly the doors to the cantina swung open and two cans of smoke rolled through the doors.
“Hurry!” Omega shouted to Phee who took no time in following the young girl out the door.
The two bolted down the street as they headed straight for their ship.
“How did they find us?” Omega asked.
“Sid sold you out kid!” Phee said as they ran.
“What? No. That can’t be!” Omega yelled shocked.
“We’ll talk about it later, this way!” Phee yelled as they took a right.
They were almost to their ship when suddenly large rubble and stone broke from a building, sealing their path shut. As they turned they could see the glowing purple from a lightsaber.
“Who is that?” Omega asked as she squinted at the cloaked figure.
“It’s…” Before Phee could answer, Omega was falling to the ground in a heavy sleep.
As Phee looked up in shock, she watched her old friend wave her hand and in a second she was out like a light.
“What do you mean?” Hunter’s voice was cold.
He could quiet literally hear his heart beat loudly in his eardrums blocking out the banging on the locked door as he stared at the screen that showed the very being he couldn’t live without.
He could see her face, void of any emotion as she stared at whoever had taken the photo. Her scanner showed active on the screen with the word successful project written in the top right corner of her file. His mind was racing with confusion as he tried to piece together what could have happened to her during these last few months…
The pain she must have endured. That thought alone sent a knife through his heart.
“She must have been alive when… They took her.” Echo muttered as he glanced at his brother’s reaction, “She must be who Crosshair was trying to protect…”
“Alive?” Tech echoed the word as Crosshair leaned into his side. He kept a tight grip on his brother to keep him balanced, but that didn’t stop the lump that formed in his throat, “She was alive and I left her.”
Hunter’s fury laced in his bones as he ripped the frame piece from piece. His voice roared through the sealed room as he ripped through everything he could find. Echo, Tech and Crosshair stood against one of the walls as they watched Hunter mentally loose himself. They listened to the sound of the shields disappearing in the next room, letting them know that Hunter had just inadvertently released the clones being held hostage.
“We left her.” Hunter’s voice was barely a whisper.
He headed straight to the sealed door that now opened up to the stormtroopers on the other side. Each swift movement, each yell gave way to a storm trooper falling to the ground until Hunter stood above them remaining victorious and blinded by rage.
His brothers slowed stepped to the entrance of the room, watching their brother with concern.
Hunter stood there, unmoving as each clone warily stepped out of their cells.
“Burn this place to the ground.” Venom laced his voice and fire filled his eyes as the sirens blared and the battle cries of his brethren rang out through the halls.
“We’re bringing her home.” Was Hunter’s final words as he grabbed his blaster and led his brother’s back to the Marauder.
Just hold out for me a little longer mesh’la, I’m coming for you.

Pt 9 to You Drew Stars
“Hunter.”
Hunter stood in the doorway of his home, looking at his brother with tired eyes.
“I thought you were coming to see us. To check up on Omega and here you are trying to put us back into a fight?” Hunter crossed his arms.
“It’s not just another fight Hunter. This is Crosshair we’re talking about.” Echo urged as he took a step forward.
“I don’t want to hear it.” The soldier muttered as he slammed the door shut to his home.
It was odd calling a place other than the marauder a home, but the residents of Pabu were kind enough to give him and his brothers separate homes.
Wrecker had a comfortable home close to the sea and it wasn’t too long that Tech moved in with Phee. Hunter and Omega had their home towards the top of the mountain, an easy lookout of the sky and sea.
It was a comfortable home for the most part with two rooms, two bathrooms, a kitchen, a dining room and living area. It was odd having this much space to themselves, but they found comfort in it.
At least until Echo showed up to ruin his peace and quiet.
“Just listen to me!” Echo spoke loudly as he banged once against the shut door, “You can’t shut yourself out forever, brother. Trust me, it won’t do you any good. Please. Just come out and let’s talk about her. It’ll help you move on.”
Don’t get him wrong, he was overjoyed to see his brother alive and well after many months apart… He expressed that emotion… On the inside.
On the outside however… He looked like a shell of the soldier he used to be. His face showing nothing more then a grim frown even behind the closed door.
“Just go…” Hunter’s voice teetered on the edge of a sob and yell as his forehead was pressed against the door beside his fist.
“No.” Echo shook his head as he sighed, “She wouldn’t have liked this. She would have cried at seeing what you have become.”
Hunter didn’t respond, but his heart clenched at Echo’s words because it was true…
I know.
I could feels the swells from needle holes burning my skin as I laid against the cool stone ground. It was the only mercy I had since waking up three months ago.
I could barely recall the events that have taken place without flinching. Images of doctors, needles, and the glowing lights flashed before my eyes in a blur. The only thing that kept me comfort was my family.
One of which was trapped in the cell across from me.
“Hey.” His voice was gravelly, the sarcastic tone barely there.
I groaned, the only he would get from me right now. I could still feel the bruising grip from the storm troopers who threw me in here only minutes ago. I groaned as I rolled over to face him, the room spinning as I did so.
“You need to stay focused.” Crosshair stated from his cell across from mine.
I didn’t open my eyes to answer him, it hurt too much.
“General.”
I remember passing out and it wasn’t until the sound of a screeching metal tray slide towards me that I blinked my eyes open. I looked at the food, the same thing that I had yesterday. There was a good helping on there. Of course they was, they had to keep their Guinea pigs healthy in some way.
“General.” Crosshair called out to me once he noticed me start to move.
My throat was too soar from screaming earlier in that damn chair… But none the less, I tried to answer him, “I don’t feel like myself…” I barely said above whispered as I sat up and leaned against the wall, “I can’t remember things… I can’t remember your name.”
“Crosshair.” He reminded her again.
“Of course you won’t feel like yourself.” Crosshair scoffed, “They’re doing to you what they did us clones… Erasing and reprogrammingyou to follow orders.” Crosshair sighed, “You can’t give in. You’re stronger than us you know. Do what you have to, to keep yourself from drowning.”
I slowly dragged the tray towards me and placed it on my lap. I picked at my food as I waited for him to continue.
“You need to get out of here.” I whispered, “I don’t know what will happen if I completely forget…”
“I won’t leave you.” I could feel Crosshair’s glare as he said that, “I won’t leave my family again.”
I knew there was no point in arguing with the brooding sniper. Instead I let out a soft sigh.
“I’m glad you’re alive Cross.” I looked up towards him, forcing him to understand the words I wanted to say, “We forgive you. I remember that.” I stated firmly, “We never… Never hated you.”
He stared at me before glancing away, his lips curling into a grim frown, “I’m sure Hunter does.”
My breath hitched at the sound of his name. The person whose face was only a blurry sight in my mind, but I remember the feelings I have for him. That yearning just to be near him… I could feel him through the force, just barely… My connection to the force was nothing, but a thin strand of string now. I couldn’t even call out to him if I tried.
I shook my thoughts as I tried to stay focused, “What do you mean by that?”
“You’re here because of me… Because I sent out that message.” He closed his hand into a fist to keep himself from punching his cell wall, “He’d kill me if he found out you were in this state.”
“I doubt that.” I looked at my metal hand, an unsettling feeling filled my gut.
Was this how… I furrowed my brows as I forgot his name. He was a friend, that I know. Was this how that clone trooper felt when he first obtained his prosthetics? I wondered. I knew deep down I would get used to the new feeling, but it still felt like a part of me was gone…
“Besides, if he hates anyone, it would be me.” I said as I focused back on the conversation, “I said I’d come back and now… He thinks I’m dead. Omega thinks I’m dead...”
Force above I missed that bubbly girl so much. She hasn’t left my memory and I hoped that it would remain that way. I wondered if she was doing well without me? I hope so…
“He doesn’t hate you. He never could.” Crosshair shook his head, “Not even if you held a knife to his throat and threatened to kill him.”
I looked back towards him wondering what he meant behind those words.
“Then he doesn’t hate you either and I don’t want to here anymore of how he could because they’re all lies, got it?” I stated and in any other instance I would try to sound menacing, but my voice was hoarse and scratchy.
Crosshair couldn’t help the tiny smirk as he scoffed, “Yes General.”
“He’s been like that for months.” Wrecker huffed as he took a big bite out of his cooked fish.
Wrecker along with Echo, Tech, Phee, and Omega sat outside Tech and Phee’s home to have a small family dinner.
Echo sighed, “I was afraid you would say that.”
“She was very important to him…” Tech sighed.
“She was important to all of us.” Wrecker clenched his fist, a mixture of pain and regret painted across his face.
No one could tell if the expressive one of the group wanted to punch something or hold himself back from crying… Maybe it was a mixture of both. After a moment he seemed to collect himself as the soldier he was trained to be.
“Tech said that you know where Crosshair is?” Tech spoke up, trying to steer his brother’s fallen expression to something more hopeful and it did.
Wrecker’s expression immediately brightened as he looked across the table to Echo.
“You know where he is?” Wrecker asked quite loudly.
Echo nodded as he placed his holo pad on the table, “I do. After what happened a few months ago…” Echo refrained from mentioning the General’s death as he continued, “Rex and I went on a rescue mission to export a clone squad out of the empires control. When we arrived they were ambushed and taken by this man here.”
A holo figure appeared on screen of a man none of them have ever seen before.
“Dr. Royce Hemlock. A scientist and in charge of leading the Imperial Cloning Program. He has been behind the disappearances of clone troopers, including Crosshair.” Echo explained.
“Then what are we waiting for? Let’s go get him!” Omega said as she stood to her feet.
“Yeah! I agree with the kid!” Wrecker shouted, his mouth full.
“He doesn’t deserve to be trapped there.” Omega pressed.
“In this case, I agree with Omega and Wrecker.” Tech stated, “There is a high percent chance of rescuing him now that we have solid information.”
“We only have limited time before Crosshair is… Decommissioned.” Echo frowned, “Rex and I located him here in Mount Tantiss.” He pointed towards the cell blocks deep within the mountain, “This is where they are holding him and other clone troopers.”
“It’ll be easy to get through if you get those fancy storm trooper suits.” Phee commented as she looked through the security records, “The only thing would be getting out or if they find you out.”
“Echo can get us some right?” Omega looked to her brother.
“I’ve already discussed that with Rex. I’ll be meeting him in a couple days in Coruscant to get them.” Echo explained, “He says he found out more information about the scientist that could be detrimental.”
“I’m coming with you.” Omega stated immediately.
“No. You’re not.” A deep voice stated behind her.
“Hunter.” Tech acknowledge him.
“Why not?” Omega turned to face him with the sternest expression that she could make.
“Because it’s too dangerous.” He explained as he stepped towards the table.
“How is this anymore dangerous then what we’ve done before?” Omega said frustratingly.
“Because it is.” Hunter grunted, his face stern.
“This isn’t fair!” Omega pushed her chair aside as she stepped up to her brother, “You’ve changed! The old Hunter would have jumped at a chance to save his family! What happened to you?!” Omega pushed at his chest.
He didn’t answer, instead his eyes found his way to the sea once more.
“Tell me!” Omega pushed again.
“Omega maybe you should…” Echo tried to defuse the situation before Hunter ultimately blew up.
“No! I want him to tell me! So tell me! Why won’t you save our brother?” Omega pushed him again with an exasperated huff.
“Because he’s the reason she’s gone!” Hunter yelled.
Omega took a step back with the abrupt shock of it all.
And suddenly, it was like all of his words spilled over and into the sea, “If we never would have gone to that place then she’d be alive right now! Here with us. In fact if he would have just came with us after Kamino, then none of this would have happened! She’d be alive, eating this food, and looking out at the sea.” Hunter fell to his knees.
He placed his hands over his face. Not to cry… But to hide from them, from the planet, from everything. It brought him back to the moment spent at the pond, with just him, Omega, and her… Oh how he wished they could all be back there right now.
“She loved the sea.” He whispered brokenly.
“She loved your spirit.” Phee spoke up through the heartbreaking silence, “She loved your leadership and your protectiveness over your family. Any woman could see it in her eyes with the way she would look at you.”
“We would never want you to lose apart of yourself, brother.” Tech stated.
Echo stood up from his chair, gently leading Omega took take a seat. He then knelt before his brother and carefully removed his hands from his face.
“It is not your fault.” He spoke softly.
“I should have been there.” Hunter stated quickly, “I could have-”
“No.” Echo shook his head, “I know where those thoughts lead you and it is a dark path. I’ve lost a lot of my brothers… Almost my entire unit… My best friend…” Echo closed his eyes.
Echo remembered Fives before he took a breath and focused his gaze back on Hunter, “So trust me when I say this, it is not your fault and you did the best that you could in that situation. No matter if you had the fastest ship, you wouldn’t have gotten there in time. You need to accept the fact that she did what she did to save a member of our family. Do not take her death in vain…”
“We can help Crosshair come home.” Omega spoke softly.
Echo and Hunter both stood up.
“I’m sorry for my outburst.” Hunter looked at Omega with sad eyes.
“It’s okay.” She confirmed with nod of her head, “I understand.”
Hunter looked around at his family. They weren’t perfect, far from it… But they were right… He watched as his family looked at him with hopeful eyes. We are stronger together. All of us.
“We’ll go get him.” Hunter confirmed and his family erupted in cheers.
Tech quickly took over the conversation of Crosshair’s escape as he pointed at a few engine rooms and systems.
While Tech discussed the best way to avoid detection, Echo gently placed his hand on Hunter’s shoulder, “Live to fight another day, brother.”
Hunter nodded solemnly, “Live to fight another day.”
The time it took to arrive at Coruscant was quicker than they expected.
Echo, Hunter, Tech, Wrecker, and Omega all emerged from the ship as soon as they landed in Coruscant’s underground. It was the same garage as last time, discreet and under the nose of the empire. A perfect place for clones on the run now adays.
“Didn’t think you guys were going to make it.” Rex joked as he emerged from the back of the garage.
“Quick witted as ever Captain.” Hunter greeted the old captain, “Nice to see you’re still here.”
“Same to all of you.” Rex nodded.
Rex motioned for the group to follow him to a table with some boxes set up in the back.
“These were hard to get, but my men did what they could.” Rex said.
Wrecker and Omega immediately rummaged through the boxes, pulling out the helmets first.
“How many did you acquire?” Tech asked.
“We acquired three. Of course Omega won’t be involved in the mission and Wrecker is too big for a standardized suit. It’ll be up to you, Hunter, and Echo.”
“Awww come on! I wanted to blow things up!” Wrecker made a fuss as he tossed the helmet back into the bin.
“In all due time brother.” Tech stated, “Just because you can’t infiltrarte the base doesn’t mean you can’t wait on the ship with some explosives on hand.”
“Alright!” Wrecker fist pumped the air.
“And what about me?” Omega asked.
“You’ll be with Phee for this, kid.” Hunter said.
“What?!” Omega began to make a fuss, “He’s my brother too!”
“Omega, you’ll help us more by staying safe.” Echo stepped in as he placed a hand on the young girls shoulder.
“Hunter.” Rex motioned for him to follow.
Rex led hunter a little ways away from the group and towards the edge of the garage. Hunter watched as ships came and went on different platforms as he waited for Rex to speak.
Everything now a-days was quite different from how it used to be. Hunter thought as he watched exchanges be made and cargo be shipped. He never thought for a moment that his life would turn out like this. He always assumed he’d die in a great battle in the war…
“I found out some intel last night that you need to know.” Rex voice was suddenly serious as he spoke in a low tone.
Hunter’s brows furrowed at Rex’s sudden change, “About?”
“The doctor your going after… An informant of mine said he has been working on something dangerous. I couldn’t get a lot of information on it, but it’s called Project Light.” Rex explained.
“What does that have to do with us?” Hunter cross his arms over his chest.
“Hunter, it is said that they’ve been doing testing on any Jedi they can get their hands on… Their reprogramming them like they did to us during Order…” Rex couldn’t bring himself to say the word, “Imagine what will happen to the galaxy if they gather an entire troop of them.” Rex stated.
Hunter took in the severity of the situation and he nodded, “I understand… What do you need me to do?”
“There should be some files or data about what they’re planning to do with the Jedi once they successfully complete the experiment. I need you to find those documents.” Rex said.
“Alright.” Hunter agreed.
“Thank you.” Rex nodded.
That shouldn’t be too hard.
“Seems like we’ve gotten everything we can from you given your intricate… DNA.” Dr. Hemlock gaze held a spark to it that made me shrink further back into the cell wall, “Your new life is almost complete General and I believe it’s time for something more… Invigorating.”
I was a general?
I couldn’t keep my eyes on him for long as my gaze kept flicking back to Crosshair and the three storm troopers in his cell. A wire was wrapped around his throat, held by one of the troopers as he awaited his order.
“Please don’t do this.” I pleaded and when my gaze found Crosshair’s again, I saw the stern glare of his eyes.
He clearly expressed his emotion of me pleading with a simple frown on his lips.
Don’t beg. I could hear his thought clearly in my mind.
“Your pleas fall empty little Jedi.” He simply stated as the shield on my cell disappeared, “I already told you what would happen besides…”
I watched him step back to allow two storm troopers to enter my cell.
“You’re beginning to become my new favorite project.” He grinned, “Only a few more tests before your mind will have a clean slate. A fresh start for you, I suppose.”
I don’t want a fresh start… I want back what was taken from me.
“Hm… Maybe now you can feel like you truly fit in among your clone friends.” He motioned to Crosshair.
“No.” I stated and used what little energy I had to send the storm troopers in my cell forcefully against two walls, holding them in place, “I won’t succumb to your control.”
He glared disappointingly at my attempts to flee, “Do you not remember what happened last time you fought back?”
Fleeting memories of Crosshair enduring a shock wave of torture filled my eyes and before I knew it, with just a snap of his fingers, the string around Crosshair’s neck tightened.
“Stop!” I yelled as I heard Crosshair’s gasps for air, “He has nothing to do with this!”
“I told you I would use him to keep you in line… Now obey.” His tone turned dark and I already knew he didn’t care whether Crosshair would die, but I cared… I knew he was family and I couldn’t live with myself if the others knew I was the cause of his death.
I carefully put the soldiers down, listening to their gasps of breath as I stared at the doctor towering above me.
“You don’t know what you’re doing.” I spoke seriously, “I will remember.”
“Oh little Jedi, but you won’t. Now follow.” He stated as he turned and once again I found myself following after the cold doctor.
I will remember.

Love In Silence
Tumblr media
Marrok x I’m no Jedi reader
A powerful match.
Angst / Fluff
“You wish for me to work with… Him?” I motioned to the tall dark figure.
His posture was tilted downwards to the left, as if he didn’t have a care in the world… It irked me.
But those were the first words I ever said in the presence of Marrok. I remember that clearly.
“The force has showed me the truth. I have seen it my padawan, you two would be more formidable together.” My master Baylan stood beside Shin.
I stared at the masked man who hasn’t even said a word. Why isn’t he saying anything?
“Wouldn’t Shin be a better fit?” I motioned to the girl who was like a sister to me. She raised her brow at me and I gave her a shrug.
“No. Shin still has much to learn about the ways of the force.” Baylan explained.
I crossed my arms as I turned away from the inquisitor, “You know I work better alone.”
“Yes and that is something we must fix.” Baylan sighed, “You must learn this for when you train your own padawan.”
“But Master-” I began to say something, but he cut me off with a raise of his hand.
“That is enough.” My master’s voice darkened and I knew then that I had to obey, “Do as I say, padawan.”
I bowed my head, “Yes master.”
“Shin come with me.” Baylan motioned for her to follow which she did, but not before passing by me with a smirk as if to say… Good luck.
I huffed as the door closed and my attention travel back to the inquisitor.
“Do you have anything to say?” I asked him with my arms crossed.
Silence.
I waved one of my hands about with an annoyed expression on my face, “Do you talk at all?”
Silence.
“Well this is going to be fun.” I sighed as I took a seat.
Just perfect…
Eight months later and I was still attached to the tall inquisitor. Nothing I seemed to do would make him leave. Not to mention the fact that it was like talking to a ship wall.
“This isn’t working!” I yelled, as I used the force to throw a boulder off a cliff.
We were on a planet as we waited for our next orders to free Morgan. It was filled with much crash and cliffs that overlooked a massive sea. It was away from any civilization which made it easier for me to throw boulders during my tantrums.
“You need to focus.” My master held in a sigh as he watched the two of us spar.
He’s been trying for months to make us fight as if we were one and yet the only thing we have managed to do is not slice each others heads off with our lightsabers.
“I am focused, but him!” I motioned to the cocky man who has not said one word to me for months, “He’s not following anything I’m telling him, he’s just doing his own thing! It’s… It’s frustrating!”
“To fight together is to follow each others movements. To know one another.”
“But I don’t know him! And he hasn’t said one word to me to even try to know me. And- and just look at him!” I motioned to the way he stood so nonchalant as if he had better things to do with his time.
Maybe he did, but I sure as the force didn’t care.
I groaned, “All I get from him is that cocky stance and brooding nature. What am I supposed to do with that?”
I glanced over at Shin who was trying not to laugh at my demise, but failed to hide the smirk on her face.
“I see you.” I glared at her to which her smirk grew.
Baylan shook his head, “I’m sending you both on a mission.”
“What?” I looked back towards our master, “A mission? But we’re not ready.”
“You need to find a way to work together before Morgan is freed or else we’ll have a bigger problem on our hands. Now.” Baylan pulled out his data pad, showing coordinates to a shipment yard on the world we’re currently on.
“I need you both to secure some parts for the ship. I’m sure you both can handle that.” Baylan raised an eyebrow.
“Yes master.” I said and this time I held in my sigh as I headed to my speeder.
“Try to keep up.” I muttered to Marrok as I hoped onto my speeder and took off.
I didn’t look back to see if he was, I could tell he was behind me as I felt his force signature.
I can’t believe I have to do a task as simple as this. I thought as I stopped behind a hill.
Over it was a shipment yard that were filled with workers from this planet.
“We’ll have to wait until night.” I spoke softly, before getting comfortable against the plushness of the grassy hill.
“I’d say we can talk about ourselves, but that would be a waste.” I muttered as I closed my eyes.
He didn’t respond of course, but I could hear the annoyance in his voice as he let out a huff. I could hear him make himself more comfortable a few feet away from me and I decided Now was a better time then any to take a nap.
A touch more gentler then I expected awoke me as I blinked back the heaviness of sleep. I looked up to find Marrok towering over me, his armor glinting in the moonlight.
“Are you going move?” I asked to which I received a shake of his head as he stood up and began to walk.
I followed the silent inquisitor as we made our way down to the shipment yard which was now relatively empty aside from a few security guards here and there.
“This is what we need. I’ll find these two parts and you find this one.” I handed him the data pad with the list, “You head that way and I’ll go this way. I’ll comm you when I’m done and if anything goes south, head back to the speeders.” I told him before walking off.
It was almost too easy finding the first part I needed and I was glad that it was small enough to shove into my back pack. Now the other part… The other one was safely tucked away behind a security building making it nearly impossible with the guards blocking its way.
Should I comm Marrok? I wondered, but immediately shook my head at the thought. I didn’t need him. I can do this on my own.
It seemed simply enough in my head. Sneak past the guards, grab the panel and make a quick break for it. Now I just need a distraction…
I looked around and found a grate. I used the force to lift it before sending it in a direction far enough from me. I could tell the guards took the bait as they immediately unholstered their blasters to check out the noise. I snuck by the moment their backs were turned and felt a rush through me when I grabbed the panel.
I did it!
Or so I thought I did…
A sharp pain in my gut had me dropping the panel as a young guard stood five feet away, his hands shaking vigorously as he stood there with a mixture of shock and fear.
“Nice… Shot.” I muttered as I fell to my knees.
I lifted my wrist up to my lips as I commed Marrok a simple command, “Run.”
“Don’t move!” The young guard yelled, “Who are you calling? Are there more of you?!”
I shook my head, “Just me kid.”
“I don’t believe you! We shoot thieves around here!” He yelled as he took a wobbly step towards me.
I motioned to my gut with a cringe, “I can see that. So why not finish the job?”
“I am!” He yelled and he seemed so certain of himself as he pointed the weapon at me again.
I closed my eyes and hoped that Marrok had gotten far away from here with at least one of the parts. Better one then nothing. I thought as I felt sadness flood through me. Of course this had to be the way I go instead of for something I believe in.
I waited for the final shot, but the sound was not what I expected as I heard a lightsaber ignite.
I opened my eyes to find Marrok killing the young guard in an easy motion before swiftly making his way to my side. He carefully picked me up in his arms and grabbed the panel before casually making his way out of the shipment yard. I could make out the bodies of a dozen guards as he walked by them without a care.
“I thought I told you to run.” I muttered as I began to feel the heavy weight of sleep take over me.
The last thing I heard from him was a rumble in his chest as he let out a deep, “Hm.”
Now
The ship was silent as we were being transported to a factory carrying a hyperdrive we will need. This will help us grateful in our attempt to build a spacecraft great enough to get us to Grand Admiral Thrawn. I leaned my head back against my seat as I tried to deal with the unsettling feeling in my gut.
I glanced over to my partner. To say that things have changed greatly in a year between us would be an understatement. After that night at the shipment yard where he risked his life to save mine… Something formed between us that brought us closer together. To say I was now attached to the silent inquisitor was absolutely true.
“Marrok…” I spoke his name, my tone growing much more gentler with him after these past few months.
I made sure to keep my voice low so that the droid pilot I call Lindt and Marrok’s battle droid wouldn’t pick up on our conversation as I waited for Marrok to respond.
The slight tilt of his head told me to continue.
I traced his helmet with my eyes, taking in details I have already memorized.
“Do you think we’re really going to find the… Grand Admiral Thrawn?” I whispered.
He didn’t give me an answer, but he listened and that was all I needed from him. I have since grown used to his silence and small hm’s as the days carried on. Before it had annoyed me to no end, but now… Now it has brought me an odd comfort in my life that I never thought I needed.
“I’m worried.” I continued as I turned my face from him to hide the guilt on my face at even speaking against my master and Morgan’s wishes.
But with him, I felt like I could tell him anything.
“I’m scared that we may be doing something wrong here… That the Grand Admiral is not supposed to be found.” I sighed as I closed my eyes, “I don’t know if my master can see the signs through the force and I know that I shouldn’t be questioning his wisdom, but I can’t help… But question all of this.”
A small part of me worried that he would stick his lightsaber through my chest and end me for good.
“I’m sorry I shouldn’t have said anything…” I muttered sheepishly.
I was going to let the silence continue and pray silently to the force that hopefully he wouldn’t relay this to the others, but then…
I felt his gloved fingers dance across my arm before finding his hand found it’s rightful place in the palm of my hand and I knew from that touch he wouldn’t whisper what I said to any other soul.
The comforting squeeze of his hand brought a small smile to my face and a calmness that spread over my heart. I leaned my head on his shoulder as his thumb brushed against my hand.
“Thank you.” I murmured.
“We will be docking in one minute.” Lindt called out as he began our short descent.
“Thank you Lindt.” I said as I stood up, “I’ll go with you.” I told Marrok as I grabbed my lightsaber.
Except Marrok was already in front of me, gently stopping me with a placement of his hand on my shoulder.
“But what if something happens to you?” I asked worriedly, “How will we protect each other if we’re apart?”
He only shook his head and I knew that his order was final. We felt the motion of the ship dock, Marrok gently holding my waist to keep me steady.
My shoulders slumped in defeat, “I don’t want you to go alone… I want to be with you.” I muttered selfishly.
He gently placed his helmet against my forehead and I took a deep breath as another calm wave washed over me.
“Alright, but be safe and… Come back to me.” I stated, pressing a light kiss to his helmet.
A small hm could be heard from his modulator before he turned and descended the ship with one of his battle droids.
“I’ve been ordered to take us to a safe distance until Marrok is ready for pickup.” Lindt said.
“Alright.” I nodded as I took my seat once again.
I closed my eyes and felt his signature through the force, praying that everything will go smoothly… Minutes that turned into an hour passed and my growing anxiety to get to Marrok grew as I waited for the blinking light of the comms to signal he was done.
“It shouldn’t be too long now, right Lindt?” I asked the pilot droid.
“By my calculations, everything should be ready in about ten minutes.” Lindt stated.
I nodded my head with a sigh of relief. That didn’t sound so bad. I could wait for that…
But then I felt something different in the force and I knew then that there was a Jedi present.
“Something’s wrong. We need to get to Marrok now.” I told Lindt.
“But I was ordered to-” Lindt began to say, but I spoke over him.
“I don’t care. I’m telling you right now we have to go.” I urged and I was grateful when Lindt took off, flying the ship to the meeting point.
All I could feel was intense anxiety and fear as the ramp opened to find Marrok battling against a Jedi… Not just any Jedi, but Ahsoka Tano.
I urged him through the force to stop fighting and get on the ship and I was grateful when he did because knowing him… He would fight until his death and that was something I did not want to see.
I grabbed onto him the moment he stepped onto the ship as I looked him over. I could see him staring out at Ahsoka. I turned to the Jedi and watched as Marrok summoned his lightsaber towards us, something that Ahsoka easily dodged.
“I’ve only heard stories about her. She is powerful.” I murmured as I turned away from her to check for any wounds, “Are you alright?”
He nodded his head once and I let out a sigh of relief when I saw he had not been harmed. He held his own against a powerful Jedi and that my chest fill up with pride.
I placed my hand on the side of his helmet, tilting his head down to look at me, “You did well.” I spoke with a softly smile as I felt his fingers graze along my sides, “But I’m not leaving you alone again. Like Master Baylan said, we are more formidable together.”
Who would have thought my master would be right?

In My Dreams
Tumblr media
Marrok x Jedi reader
You’ve been having dreams of a man you’ve never met before…
Angst / Fluff
It’s been like this for months…
The first dream I had of him, he stood in a fog. His cape flowing from the small breeze that surrounded us and he was silent. Always silent…
Dark clothes. Figure hidden. Face never seen. Always hidden and yet so gentle.
And that helmet.
That helmet that concealed the face of who I most desperately wanted to see. I needed to know who was behind that mask. Who plagued my dreams night after night. He was like an itch I couldn’t scratch.
“You look tired.” Hera mentioned as we followed the odd man throughout the factory.
“I haven’t been sleeping well. It’s nothing serious, I’m alright.” I replied with a soft smile.
She took my answer with a nod of her head as she continued ahead.
“Same dream again?” Ahsoka asked in a much lower tone as we walked a couple steps behind.
I sighed softly, “I don’t know what it means or what the force is trying to tell me, but he’s always just… There.”
I kept the blush from blooming across my cheeks as I thought of the more intimate mates I’ve had with the strange masked man.
They were usually gentle as I would spend my time tracing the outlines of his black helmet as he touched my face with his gloved hands. Always covered… Never any skin shown to give more light to this mystery.
“There is always a reason. Trust in the force.” Ahsoka commented.
“Of course.” I nodded gratefully to my friend.
I just wondered when the force will reveal him to me.
“It’s leaving on that ship.” The kind droid pointed to the ship we were questioning, outing all those who have been lying to us the moment we stepped foot in this place.
“For the empire!” A voice cried out, but it didn’t do him much good as I shoved my lightsaber through his gut.
“Of course they are traitors.” I muttered disappointedly.
“No time to dwell, Hera get to the ship.” Ahsoka told Hera before motioning for me to follow her out the window.
As I landed on the ground with only a slight discomfort in my knees, I wondered when will the lying end. Why couldn’t these people see that working for the empire was a bad thing? I clenched my fist to control the anger rising in me.
If only they could look past their greed.
I followed closely behind Ahsoka as we tried to catch up to the fleeting ship. Our footsteps smacked against the ground as we pushed faster until she stopped… And I stopped. Our gazes pulled away from the ship towards two figure and that was when I saw…
My gaze flickered between the familiar figure down towards Ahsoka who already took out her two light sabors. I stepped up to her, gently resting my hand on her shoulder.
The look she gave me was one of confusion, but I could only offer her a slight shake of my head.
“It’s him…” I spoke, barely above a whisper, the dread and anxiety clear in my voice.
Of course he was an enemy.
Of course he was going to try to kill me.
Ahsoka could see the turmoil written across my face, “I’ll take out the droid.” Was all she said and I was grateful she didn’t press with anymore questions.
I didn’t know if I’d be able to answer them anyways.
I watched her step to the side in front of the droid and I took my place in front of him…
I slowly reached up, pulling my black hood off my head, just wondering if he would recognize me… If he’s been dreaming about me for months as well.
“Do you…” I spoke softly as an unsure tone took over my voice, “Do you know who I am?”
I watched him make no notion of recognization as he reached up to his shoulder to release the clasp on his cape.
I watched it drop to the ground while he pulled out his own lightsaber.
He doesn’t know…
My heart sunk in my chest and I wondered what I should do at this moment. Do I fight him? Do I tell him I’ve dreamt of us resting in bed on a spring morning? Do I tell him despite not knowing him, I felt like he’s been with me for years?
I reached for my own lightsaber as soon as I saw the familiar color of red. Purple mirrored his red as ignited mine and it was in that quite moment of breath before he lunged and the fight began.
I kept my pace steady as I mirrored his movement and blocked against his hits.
He was fast. I’ll give him that. I thought as I threw a lunge of my own, one he blocked with ease.
This went on for a while, neither of us growing out of breath. It could almost be taken as a dance as we stepped around each other. If I closed my eyes I could almost imagine when we were dancing… In my dreams.
He was agile and swift there too.
“Do you not know who I am?” I asked him again as we pressed our lightsabers against one another.
Again my question was met with silence…
I could hear as Ahsoka sliced through the droid, ending her own battle and I feared that my moments with this mysterious man was running thin.
“Please.” I struggled to say as I pushed against his attacks that just kept coming.
It was on pure accident that my lightsaber grazed against his side causing us both to jump back, “I don’t want to hurt you.” I said quickly with panic lacing my voice.
There was no falter in his step as he continued to fight back even harder than before and a graze to my side with his lightsaber told me that he wasn’t going to back down. The yelp I let out as I felt the singeing pain had Ahsoka taking a step forward. I held up a hand towards her quickly to stop her from taking another step.
I knew I had to find away to subdue him before Ahsoka found it necessary to step in and I seized my chance with a quick footing exchange and a roll of my wrist.
In a blink of an eye he was kneeling on the ground with two lightsabers near his neck. He didn’t move. Neither of us did.
I took in a breath as I thought about my options.
I could take him prisoner… But then he would never trust me. I could kill him… But what would that solve? I could…
I turned off the lightsabers as I slowly kneeled in front of him. I prayed to the force that I was making the best decision as I looked at the way his fists clenched in his lap.
“I’ve had dreams about you.” I confided to him in a soft whisper.
He didn’t make a sound of acknowledgment, but I knew he heard each word that I spoke.
“You might not know me… But I feel like I know you…” I clipped my lightsaber to my side before slowly reaching out to his closed fists.
I gently grabbed his right hand, opening it before placing his lightsaber in the palm of his hand.
“I don’t want to hurt you…” I placed my hand against his side as I willed the force to heal him until there was only a scar marred against his skin, “I couldn’t.” I whispered the truth as I waited for his answer.
I had a feeling that he wouldn’t speak and he wouldn’t turn against his allegiance for some random Jedi he just met… But I hope that this was an offer of truce and just maybe… Maybe somewhere down the line what I see in my dreams will become true.
He stood up slowly. He didn’t try to ignite his saber and stab me. Neither did he show any indication of staying, but he watched me stand. Waited as I unclipped my black robe and handed it to him.
“I hope you’ll wear it next time we meet.” I spoke lightly in a soft tone to show him I was no threat… At least not to him I wasn’t.
My heart practically leapt in my chest of joy as he took the peace offering before he was running back to his ship where his loyalties lied.
Ahsoka made her way to my side as we watched them fly off. She didn’t hold any judgement towards me, after all she knows how much I speak of the man in my dreams.
“You didn’t kill him.” She spoke.
“I know.” I replied softly.
“He didn’t kill you.” She noted with a small smile on her face.
“I know.” I nodded at the realization and I couldn’t help, but give a smile of my own.
“What will you do?” She asked as she glanced at me.
I held my hand to my side to try to stop the ache of the lightsaber scar that he gave me. It was comforting in a way, knowing that we had equal marks… Almost like matching tattoos that would have us remembering this day for the rest of our lives.
I looked away her gentle gaze to the black cape that he threw on the ground earlier. I carefully picked it up as I ran my hand threw the thick fabric in my hands before replying truthfully…
“I will follow my dreams.”

Hunter x Jedi reader
A choice will be made.
Angst
Pt 8 to You Drew Stars
“Omega?” Hunter called out for the young girl once again.
He’s lost track of the time he has spent looking for her and that was only because he was on the other side of the island when Wrecker brought this to his attention. She’s been disappearing and quiet a lot lately and of course he knew the reason why. How everyone could see the once bright girl was no longer cheerful, but how could she be?
Hunter knew he was close to finding her. There was only three known spots of hers that she could be at and he could already sense her presence and the way her heartbeat picked up the closer he got.
“I know you’re here, kid.” Hunter sighed as he stood along the cove, “You’ve been distant all day... Longer than that.” He whispered the last part, “Everyone is worried about you. Wrecker hasn’t even gone near fishing, said he’s been waiting for you.”
She didn’t want to respond, she just couldn’t get the words out. She just wanted to enjoy the waves of the ocean gently hitting the shoreline alone.
Another breath left Hunter’s lips when he earned no witty response in return, “Kid… What’s wrong?” He asked, his tone more gentle and soft spoken.
Omega huffed at the persistency of her brother even though she knew that he meant well.
“It’s been three months…” Omega finally answered as she poked at the sand with a stick, “Three months, thirteen days-”
Hunter could barely see her small form hiding around one of the rocks by the cove.
“And six hours… I know kid.” He sighed as he took in the beautiful sea before him.
Hunter hated to admit it out loud, but he had been counting the days as well.
There was a moment of serenely, a pause before Omega spoke up, her voice barely above a whisper, but Hunter heard. His enhanced hearing could be a blessing and a curse.
“It’s different.” She whispered.
“What is?” Hunter already knew the answer, but this is the most he’s heard from her since…
“Everything!” Now her voice raised as frustration and anger took over her form.
For a second she reminded him of Crosshair as he watched the stick she was holding fly into the air and into the shallow depths of the ocean before reappearing to float away.
Hunter had an ache in his chest knowing that they would have gotten along quite well if only Crosshair had given them a chance…
“Everything’s different. I can’t sleep because I don’t have her stories to listen to. I don’t like the food because it’s not hers. I always forget to tie my short or brush my hair. Everything is at a standstill here and-” She huffed as she ran a hand through her hair, “I can’t…”
He let the young girl rant, choosing to sit on the opposite side of the rock.
Hunter knew what the kid was going through. He has put up a pretty good front to the new community that they’ve been gracefully accepted into as well but… He hasn’t felt like himself either.
Day by day the realization that his General was truly gone chipped away at his nerve, piece by piece. Yet he still tried to hold on and be a leader from his family even if one of them was… Gone.
“I miss my mom.” Omega said finally, her voice trailing off into a quiet whisper.
Hunter closed his brown eyes, leaning his head back against the rock. The sun felt warm against his skin, but did little to warm the empty m chill in his heart.
“I know kid…” He repeated those words to her and they were once again left in that numbing silence.
I know…
That’s all he can say at this point.
If only he could just bring her back…
He would…
“She would have liked it here.” Hunter murdered.
Omega let out a broken laugh as she wiped away her tears, “I think it’s a bit too peaceful for her.”
Hunter chuckled, “I suppose you’re right. For a Jedi she is-was quite adventurous.”
“Yeah…” Omega agreed.
“Come on. Wrecker wanted to show you something.” Hunter said as he stood up, “Like I said, he’s been waiting all day for you. I think you’ll like it.”
As he held his hand out towards her and he could only hope that Wrecker will be able to take the poor girls mind off of her loss, at least for a little while.
Maybe he could grab a drink. That seems to work these days.
It was the beeping that startled me at first.
The sound rang through my ears, echoing through the darkness I saw. I didn’t notice it at first, but panic quickly settled in when I realized that I couldn’t open my eyes. I couldn’t do anything…
Why can’t I move? What happened? I wondered as I began to come to.
My limbs felt heavy, tugging to the cold metal that lied underneath me.
Metal… That’s… A good sign right? It must mean that I’m back on the ship?
Images began to flood my mind as I remembered the events on that docking bay.
Did the others end up saving me? Did Tech make it? He must have… I have to believe that he did.
I wanted to open my mouth, to call out for them and yet my mind was stuck motionless against my body.
Why can’t I speak? Why can’t I do anything? How long have I been out?
“She’s beginning to wake up.” A female voice that I had no recollection of said just to my left.
That’s not Omega. Was my first thought and panic began to settle in.
“Give her another shot of the sedative.” It was a male voice that spoke up this time.
Definitely not one of the boys… I’m not back home am I?
I tried to remember everything that happened hoping that I can piece together the truth.
This couldn’t be a real hospital, no… I must have been captured then, but by who? Who in the empire would want me alive rather than dead…
It was then I remembered the lengths I had to go through to make sure Tech lived… I used the force and now…
They know who I really am.
“She can’t wake up until the doctor is ready to see her.” The man said.
No! I wanted to shout at them, but I could already feel myself beginning to fade as a needle pressed into my skin.
What is… Happening to me? Help… Somebody please.
Hunter…
“Echo will be arriving soon.” Tech walked up to the bar, a warm low light from the hanging lanterns glowed over him and his brother.
Tech found himself standing beside the brooding soldier. Someone who looked less like a soldier and more like an unraveling piece of string, his brother.
“That’s good news.” Hunter nodded his head not really paying attention to his brother, “It’s been a while since he stopped by, Rex has been putting him on a lot of missions lately.”
Tech agreed, “Echo is one of the best so there’s no reason why Rex wouldn’t.”
Hunter nodded and soon his focus was towards the purple liquid in his drink that changed to a blue every time he swirled it around.
“I have information…” Tech’s voice trailed off nervously, he couldn’t calculate Hunter’s reaction
“About?” Hunter drawled out with a furrowed brow.
“Echo stated over the comms that he has obtained coordinates that would lead us straight to Crosshair.” Tech said as gently as he was capable too, he was glad that he confided with Phee first before presenting this to Hunter.
He also knew the mention of their brother’s name would light a fuse in Hunter and for as much as Tech wanted to be wrong, he was right once again.
Tech continued when he got no answer, “This time it’s real. No side mission, no puzzle. We know where Crosshair is. We can bring him back home.”
“No.” Hunter stated sternly.
“For all he has done, he is still our brother.” Tech pushed, “He deserves to be saved. Wrecker and I think…” He was cut off before he could finish.
“Yeah? And look where that got us last time. She’s dead because we tried to save our brother who so clearly doesn’t want to be saved.” Hunter said as he took a big gulp of his beer.
“Crosshair is located on Mount Tantiss. Wrecker, Echo and I have already looked over the layout and we agree that it can be done.” Tech continued, hoping to persuade his sergeant.
“No. I’m done putting anymore lives at risk. Stop asking.” Hunter grunted.
“The General would have done it.” Tech stated firmly.
That seemed to have lit a spark of anger within the old sergeant as he slammed his glass down and finally looked at his brother with a pointed glare. He stood as he spoke, rising to his full height which didn’t compare to his brother, but intimidated the taller soldier none the less.
“Don’t you dare. Bring her into this.” Hunter spat, “She is gone because we tried to save crosshair, the brother who betrayed us for the empire. He made his choice. I will not… I refuse to loose anyone else die. Do you hear me?”
“Yes… Sir.” Tech nodded stiffly before taking his data pad and walking away as his brother slumped back into his seat with a defeated sigh.
“What did he say?” Phee asked Tech the moment she saw him.
His shoulders were slumped more than usual and she knew that the little conversation didn’t go too well.
“He said no.” Tech confirmed solemnly.
Phee placed a comforting hand on his shoulder, “We’ll get through to him.”
“It seems her vitals are stable, though I would have preferred it if the storm troopers didn’t shoot up my second most prized possession. It is rare to find a Jedi now a days.” Doctor Hemlock studied the Jedi who laid motionless on the table.
“Yes.” Emerie agreed as she checked on the Jedi’s vitals, “She seems to have integrated smoothly into the healing process after the mechanical replacement to her right arm.”
“How is her arm?” He wondered as he stared at the silver steel, it matched perfectly with her left arm in shape and length, down to her fingers.
“There has been no complications and it seems to be functioning properly as well.” Emerie confirmed.
“That’s good news. Good work.” Hemlock commended his scientist, “And do we know which Jedi she is? If she fought in the clone wars? If she was highly regarded?”
“No doctor.” Emerie shook her head.
“Well… We’ll find out soon enough.” Hemlock smirked as he watched the Jedi began to wake up.
“Hello little Jedi.”
That voice sent a chill down my spine as I finally blinked my eyes open.
“Where…” I cleared my throat as I tried to get my bearings.
I was in a room that shined in a full silver. It almost looked like a hospital room, but I doubted it with the lack of medical equipment and the cuffs around my wrists.
“Who are you?” I finally asked as I looked to the man with the white coat.
His smile and vacant look in my eyes didn’t help the uneasiness in my stomach. Something was just not right about him… It was almost wicked… Dark…. Just who is this man?
“I am Royce Hemlock, but you may call me Doctor Hemlock.” He stated, “And who might you be?”
I said my name slowly, almost above a whisper as I studied him and the other woman in the room.
“Ah…” A flicker of acknowledgment flashed before his eyes, “Might you be the General who served in the clone wars? You are… The Jedi master Aayla Secura’s prodigy are you not?”
Heading my old master’s name again after so long, had tears welling my eyes. I didn’t give him a reply and I suppose that was answer enough when he clapped his hands together with glee.
“Oho! Look here, we have one of the best General and killer to ever grace the battlefield. This is going to be much more exciting then I had originally planned.”
“What do you mean? I am of no use to you.” I furrowed my brows as the cuffs on my hands unlocked, “The Jedi are no more. I am not more, just let me go…”
It was then that I noticed the glinting color of steel where my arm should be. My eyes widened in fear as a gasp left my lips.
“Oh don’t worry, we didn’t do that on purpose, a blaster shot had left your right arm completely immobilized and mangled so we did you a favor.” Hemlock stated with a wave of his hand, “Good as new.”
“Now follow me and don’t try any tricks. I’ve spent quite some time studying your kind exclusively and so I know how kind works. One click of this button and a shock will be sent through your right arm and towards your heart and well… I’m sure you can guess what would happen then.” He smirked as he waved the small device in his hand before shoving it into his pocket.
I really was captured by the enemy… Why couldn’t they have just let me die? What do they have planned… I honestly didn’t want to know the answer to my last question.
He didn’t even wait for me as he began walking out of the room.
“How long have I been asleep?” I asked him as I looked at my body and found that my wounds had been healed.
“Almost a month and with the bacta tank your wounds are nothing more than scars.” He said casually.
My brows furrowed, “Just what kind of a doctor are you?”
“I’m a chief scientist of the advance science division. My specialty is studying dna and…”
I cut him off.
“Clones.” I muttered in disbelief as I took in the sight before me.
We walked past cells with clone troopers trapped inside, a whole lot of them that it would take hours to count, maybe even days.
Each soldier looked malnourished and drained of energy, only a shell of what they use to be. It made my heart ache wondering if my boys could end up like this… If Omega…
Suddenly I wish for them to never find me.
No. It’s safer where they are. They must assume that I died so if I can’t find a way out of here myself then I hope they never find out the truth. Their lives are more important.
“Why yes, I’m in charge of the imperial cloning program.” Hemlock nodded not even bothering to glance at any of the soldiers he has kidnapped.
“They… They don’t deserve this.” I shook my head as I ran to one of the cells. The trooper could barely even look up at me as I tried to open his cell, “This isn’t right! It’s inhumane! You can’t just keep them in cells, they are human beings too! They deserve a choice.”
“No they do not. They are clones who are serving their purpose and I wouldn’t try to help them if I were you.” His voice grew dark as he reached for the remote in his pocket, “You’re able to walk around this facility as a courtesy. As long as you comply, there will be no reason to how do clones say? Ah yes. Decommission you.”
I slowly stepped back as my heart reeled with pain, “Please. Let them go. The clone wars are over. There is no use for cloning anymore, let these soldiers have their peace.”
“I am afraid I can’t.” He shook his head, “This is by the order of the empire and these clones here are highly regarded and needed to complete my project.”
“You mean they are just Guinea pigs for you to experiment on.” I spat at him with a glare.
“Not just them.” He walked into an open room with clones strapped to tables by a machine, “But you as well.” He turned towards me.
“What?” I furrowed my brows before I felt a prick in my neck.
“You my dear… Are going to be very important to my experiment. I’ve studied others like you of course, but it always ended in travesty. But just imagine! If I could finally figure out how Jedi are intertwined with the force and you would help me accomplish that! For the will of science. It is a great honor if I do say so myself.”
I shook my head as I took a step back, feeling my legs begin to wobble, “I don’t want to have any part of this.”
“I didn’t say you had a choice.” His eyes darkened as he stared at me, “You will either live here or die here. That is the only choice you have.”
“Besides, I’d love to see how a prized killer like you ticks hm?” His voice slowly got slower with every passing second, “Comply and you will see tomorrow, little Jedi.”
I felt hands lock around my arms and I found myself being dragged. I could barely make out one of the tables that was set up for me.
“Don’t worry. You won’t feel a thing… For now.” His voice drifted away as I closed my eyes.
Not aware of my surroundings. Not aware of the clone with the significant tattoo knocked out a few tables away.
I felt like I was a child again, watching my home burn up in flames from the war. It was the first time in a while that I felt truly scared. I could feel a tear roll down my cheek as I my mind faded once again.
I want to go home.
“Start the reprogramming immediately. By the time we’re done with her she will obey us completely and running tests on her will go much more smoothly.” Dr. Hemlock stated with a nod, “Valuable dna and a Jedi general. She will fit here nicely.”
“But what about the clone over there.” Emerie pointed over at Crosshair, “Records show she was apart of Clone Force 99.”
Dr. Hemlock’s chuckle rang throughout the room, “This day just keeps getting better and better. This Jedi right here is our ticket to the clone girl and we’ll use him to keep her in line until the reprogramming is complete.”

Warmth

Hunter x reader
Once love and now a memory…
Fluff / Angst
“You’re staring.” He murmured.
There was a light tone in his voice, even with the presence of morning gruffness. His face was relaxed, less scrunched then during missions or when his brothers annoyed him to the southern rims.
And yet his eyes remained closed as they always did this early in the morning, just trying to bask in the remnants of night just a little longer. He always was a night owl.
“No I’m not.” I muttered the lie carelessly.
With the rays of the sun barely reaching through the cracked glass of the hotel we were bunked in, I knew the day of errands and adventures would hit us.
We could hide of course, steal away the day for ourselves, but I had a feeling Omega would have a fit. I smiled at the thought of her yelling at her other brothers to hurry as she tracked us down.
I did promise to teach her how to throw a knife once the mission was over.
I haven’t seen her in three days and I began to miss her cheerful attitude, but before we could see her face again we had to deal with Sid’s next target and she had to wait safely back at the bar with Sid.
This whole thing was absolutely pointless, but we couldn’t say no to the mission and so here we were about to steal back a spice shipment they stole from Sid on the dingiest planet we have ever been on. I couldn’t even say the same if I was asked.
This room we stayed in was a small, on the outskirts so we wouldn’t be seen as we spied through the dirty window with cracks. We watched across the street where a club was, just waiting for the target to appear with the shipment of spice.
The boys stayed back on the ship, waiting for our call to ambush the target and secure the shipment. Yet three days in this room and we still had yet to see the target.
But I knew as horrible as it smelled, this little place that we would hold dear for years to come because it was ours… Our warmth.
I secretly continued to admire Hunter’s face as he kept his eyes closed and yet his smile grew a tiny bit.
“Still?” He mumbled.
I couldn’t help, but blush at the act of being caught red handed and yet he never needed to see me to know what I was doing… Or how I was feeling. It was as if he knew every inch of my soul and maybe he did…
“I can’t help that you’re handsome.” I murmured, moving my hand from under the sheet to brush the dark brown strands of hair from his face.
I took a moment to admire the contrast of his tattoo against his natural skin. I always wondered if maybe it was a whim in his youth as shiny.
Maybe he was a little rebellious… Who am I kidding? He most definitely was.
I couldn’t help the smirk that graced me lips. I held back a small laugh.
I just that know for a fact that it was to differentiate himself from the other clone troopers. To make him appear more menacing, for sure.
Whatever may have spurred on his permanent decision, it made him all the more handsome just the same.
“Hm…” Was all he murmured.
He always was less talkative in the morning especially when he was half asleep.
I knew he was trying to play it cool, but the small smile that tugged at the corner of his lips told me how much he enjoyed the compliment.
He may have a tough and stern exterior, but he will always be a softy on the inside.
I pulled myself away from my thoughts to truly look at him once again. He was on his stomach, his arms curled under his pillow as he breathed slowly.
For a moment it looked as if he was about to fall asleep any second. If it were any other day I would have allowed it, but I’m this moment… In this moment I missed the warmth of him too much.
“Roll over.” I gently nudged his side, showing him what I wanted.
He grunted, but complied none the less. He moved his right arm from underneath the pillow and rolled onto his back. I felt pleased with myself with how easy it was to order such a strong soldier around.
I scooted closer to him, running my hand slowly over the groves of his chest, filled with scars and worn from years of battle. I admired every mark, every scab, every grain of being that represented him.
“My Hunter…” I murmured into the waking morning that only the two of us would hear.
I slowly sunk into him, feeling nothing but the softness and warmth that was him.
His arms wrapped securely around me and held me there, the two of us frozen in time as we took in those extra few minutes of rest before reality stepped in.
“You are truly beautiful.” He whispered as if at any moment this moment would be interrupted.
I smiled into his chest, “You’re just saying that.”
“I am saying that and so much more.” He stated it as if it were a fact written in stone.
“You are more radiant then the suns of Coruscant and unyielding like the waves of Kamino. You are kind, compassionate, loyal, and extremely smart.” He said as his hand trailed down my arm before interlacing his hand with mine.
He slowly pulled up our hands to kiss the ring that was delicately wrapped around my finger. I giggled gently as I placed a kiss on his ring. The two rings that celebrated our ever lasting bond with one another.
A bond that could never be broken.
Not even in a thousand galaxies filled with war.
“You are truly breathtaking my cyar’ika.” He spoke softly, “And I am glad that you call me yours.”
I looked up to see his warm chocolate eyes already looking at me and seeing the rosy blush that graced my cheeks.
“I love you.” I breathed the words as if they were the only thing I have ever believed in my life and that was the truth.
“I love you too cyar’ika.” He replied, a soft tone to his gruffness as he slowly fell back asleep.
I held onto this moment… Just the two of us basking in the summer glow of the morning before our lives called to us once more.
That was all I needed… He was all I needed. He was all I ever needed…
He was my warmth in the cold rays of winter.
The feeling of warmth faded as did the memory along with it. The room turned dull and grey losing the colors of the memory. No longer was there happiness and love. No longer did the heat of the sun grace our bodies. It was only the cold feeling of frost paired with the cloudy weather.
I watched the snowflakes as they flew into the room through the cracks of the windows. It was no longer summer and I…
I was alone.
The key to the room fell from my hand and into the metal tray, the only sound that echoed through the dingy motel room.
What once was paradise, now nothing more than empty space. It was as if I didn’t recognize the place where one of my happiest memories was at.
A shiver ran threw my body as I tugged my grey jacket tighter around me. It didn’t do much help keep the cold out, but I didn’t expect for anything less. I’ve been so cold since…
Maybe my heart was frozen, but then why did I feel so much pain?
I blinked, nothing but the sound of my breath filled the room, it getting more unstable with each exhale. But I just stared… I stared blankly at the room until the door slammed shut behind me and my emotions finally unleashed and…
I screamed.
I screamed until the pain of it ripped at my throat, until my lungs gasped for air, until my mind felt numb. If I were a Jedi, the room would have shook at the wave of sorrow and anger I felt, but if I were a Jedi then maybe I could have…
Maybe I could have done something, anything to save him and to hold him in my arms once again.
“My Hunter.” I cried out his name and received no answer.
But even if I screamed his name a thousand times, he couldn’t answer me anymore.
My nails dug into the wood of the small table by the door. My legs shaking as my chest heaved from the sobs that consumed the ringing in my ears.
I can’t breathe.
I suddenly realized and I couldn’t even pull myself together to fix it.
Why can’t I breath?
The sound of blaster fire ring in my ears over and over.
My screams to get back as we were surrounded.
The push of his hand when a shot was directed towards me.
The weight of his body as we fell...
The feeling of sand and the dizziness of the sun.
His last words…
His last kriffing words.
His rise and fall and then…
Nothing…
As if he was never here to begin with.
Everything that I ever was left with his final breathe.
I love you, always.
I cried out again, finally allowing for gravity to pull me down onto my knees.
“It was a bad idea to bring her here.” Tech whispered just outside the room.
“I agree.” Wrecker stated.
“She needs to morn. It’s been months…” Crosshair mentioned, a deep frown settled on his face.
Crosshair hasn’t smirked or teased anyone since his brother… He felt like apart of him was missing and he wouldn’t doubt if there was. His brother brought out the best version of him and now with Hunter gone… Crosshair just felt hollow.
“Yeah I know.” Wrecker sighed.
Wrecker’s heart ached ever since his brother died. He could barely sleep anymore, even with Taloola. The nightmares just kept him awake and so he did what comforted him the most, he ate snacks.
“Maybe this will help her move on.” Echo suggested with a sigh.
Echo has been through this with his first group brother’s, the 501st, was created back in the clone wars. He’s lost more brothers then the bad batch could imagine and yet an ache settled in his chest knowing that another one of his brothers’ and close friend has died.
“I’m going to go ready the ship. We’ll give her a few more minutes before it’s time for us to leave.”
“Yes then I will go with you as well.” Tech nodded and followed Echo down the hall.
Tech not used to confronting such emotions as the one his sister-in-law was currently expressing. He was in pain and he mourned deeply for his brother, but he cannot change what simply is and so he must adapt and move forward.
It was silent between the three siblings, the only sound that flowed around them was the cries of the one person that all of them considered as family.
“I… I’m going to go check on her.” Omega decided.
“Is that a good idea?” Wrecker asked worriedly.
“She needs comfort. She’s one of the only mother figure I’ve ever cared for and she is married to our brother-” Omega caught herself with a lump rising in her throat, “Was married and right now she needs someone to take care of her and that’s going to be us until she can make it back on her feet again.”
Crosshair nodded in a silent agreement.
“You’re right kid.” Wrecker said, “We’ll be out here. Yell for us if you need anything.”
Omega headed towards the room with Wrecker and Crosshair waiting patiently in the hall.
In the wake of my own despair I didn’t hear the door creek open, the sound of footsteps padding into the room.
It was when I felt Omega’s little arms wrapping around me that reality came crashing back. I pulled her into my lap, cradling the small girl who was just as devastated as I was.
We both had lost an important member of our family…
But at least we have each other right?
That should be enough. That should allow us to move on and carry his memory in our hearts. To share his story for years to come.
But then why couldn’t I stop crying?
I should be strong for her. For the others as well, but it’s like I’m being pulled under waves over and over again and I was finding it more difficult to swim back up.
“Mom…” Omega’s voice trailed off, broken, tired, and afraid of what our future may hold.
Omega began to feel the loss of her brother and who she thought was a great father figure to her… She wasn’t sure how to handle her emotions and so she did the only thing she could do… She cried as well.
“I’m sorry firefly.” I murmured broke my to her as she began to cry as well, “I’m so sorry I couldn’t…” My throat tightened and I couldn’t finish my sentence.
I hugged her as tight as I could to help ease her pain at the loss of her father.
I’m sorry I couldn’t protect him that day.
I wanted to say.
I’m sorry I didn’t see that shooter.
I wanted to cry.
I’m sorry he couldn’t be the one here with you now.
I wanted to break.
Why did I look out that damn window and see our target? Why couldn’t we have lost sight of him through the crowd? Why did we even leave this room? Why didn’t we just stay here in that damn bed?
Why? Why? Why?
… Why couldn’t it be me?
So many possibilities and outcomes that could’ve had him here with us now. To see him smirk one more time. To hear his laugh carry throughout the room. To feel his warm touch and gentle heart…
“You are truly breathtaking my cyar’ika.”
I could still hear his voice as clear as the howlers outside. My tears growing stronger by the second.
“I love you cyar’ika.”
It was as if his breath was right by my ear and then suddenly he was gone.
I love you my Hunter.
I wanted to scream those words, pleading for the force to bring him back to me… To us.
“It’s time to go you two.” Echo spoke as he entered the room.
I squeezed my eyes shut tightly at the inevitable end.
I just wanted a few more moments… A few more moments of warmth before the cold set in once again.

Bad Guy
Tumblr media
Tech x Bounty Hunter reader
A deal between a group of pirates that needed to be made for Sid goes off the rails when your lover shows up.
Fluff
“Boys and kid. Meet the best bounty hunter in the galaxy.” Sid introduced as she pointed to her bar.
“Quite the flatterer Sid.” I muttered not bothering to look behind me.
I was mindlessly shuffling through the credits I collected from my recent bounty, trying to figure out what I could use for my ship.
“She seems harmless.” Wrecker stated, squinting his eyes at my flowery dress and sandals.
“It’s the best disguise is it not?” I asked as I spun around on the stool.
The guy looked even bigger than I expected, but that wasn’t what caught my breath. No… It was the tall soldier to to the left of the big guy.
Right there stood someone I knew for sure was going to be the death of me.
“Are you strong?” The big guy continued, “How do you catch all those bounties?”
“Her specialties may lie elsewhere Wrecker. Just because someone may not hold physical strength doesn’t mean they can’t subdue their opponents by other means.” The handsome one with the goggles stated, “That doesn’t mean they are not strong.”
“Should I be flattered or offended?” I wondered with a raised brow.
“My apologies, I only meant to compliment your possible skills.” He said while adjusting his goggles, “Given your stature and height. It is clear that you are agile and clever minded, giving you an advantage against your opponent.”
“No offense taken.” I stood up, taking a few steps to meet him, “I think it’s fascinating how your mind works.”
His eyebrows raised as he watched me skeptically. I gently raised my hand in front of me waiting for him to grab it. He did so with uncertainty.
“My name is…” I offered my name along with the sweetest smile meant only for him.
“Tech.” He stuttered out his name.
“Well Tech, it’s a pleasure to meet you.” I grinned, running my thumb across his battle worn hand.
“The pleasure is mine.” He replied, a pink dust sweeping across his face.
“So that’s how she gets them.” I heard one of the other men whisper to the guy in the red bandana.
The bandana man chuckled, “She’s going to eat him alive.”
Oh how wrong he was…
Music blared throughout the club, a sweet scent wafting through the air from the specialty Asmos cocktails being made. Yet I had no time for a drink if the group of pirate thugs in front of me had any say about it.
A chip containing information that Sid needed sat just out of reach while a case of credits sat out of theirs. You would think this would be a simple switch. Case closed, but pirates were greedy. Especially them.
I’m a bounty hunter not a dealer. I thought as I held back an eye roll. Of course Sid would make some do her dirty work.
“What is a little thing like you gonna do to us?” The pirate Zen sneered, his gold eyebrows glittering under the purple low light of the club.
“There’s ten of us and only one of you so why don’t you slide those credits over and call your serpent of a boss to double the credits for this priceless information.” He stated smugly, his read scarf doing nothing to hide the tattoos across his neck.
“I suggest you comply Zen.” I tried to give him one more chance at a civil exchange.
I watched as his gold earring swayed as he leaned back in his seat.
“Or what? You got some knight in shining armor at your beck and call?” He scoffed.
It was at this point that I sighed, completely bored with this interaction. The soft look on my face fell as I glared at the group.
“I don’t think you understand who’s in charge here.” I leaned my elbows onto the table, my gaze turned from impassive to a look that had the pirate looking between my and the table nervously.
I grinned, “You see… I’m the bad guy.”
“Hello Cyar’ika.”
Every ounce of aggression, any thought process that I had to intimidate these pirates left my body the moment his voice graced my ears.
I practically melted under his gaze as I turned my head to meet his brown eyes.
“You were saying?” The pirate crossed his arms, clearly disinterested in my scare tactic.
It would have worked too…
“I’m the…” I trailed off.
If it weren’t for his alluring presence…
Suddenly I felt lost in thought as I stared at a pair of glittering amber eyes gazing down at me.
It had been a few weeks since I had seen him, the only thing keeping us in contact with one another was the bracelets on our left wrists. Tech made it for us after our one month anniversary.
We had too many jobs given to us by Sid to see each other that often and so he made something that was only meant for us without any prying eyes. It was a bracelet that would buzz and light up on the others wrist each time either one of us would tap it.
To me each tap signified that I loved and missed him and so I tapped it… I tapped it a lot.
My heart leapt for joy even with the small smirk that graced his handsome face, the same face that looked tired and yet collected all the same after a tough mission.
I hope his mission wasn’t too tough… I will have to asked him about it later tonight. Maybe after we grab a bite to eat?
My thoughts suddenly disappeared as Tech leaned in close.
His left hand gripped the back of my chair as his breath fanned across my face and I couldn’t help the small noise that came out of my throat as he said, “You’re the what?”
“I’m the…” I barely remembered his question as my eyes flutter closed when Tech tilted my chin up towards him.
“What she means to say is you and your crew are going to cooperate or you have me to deal with her soldier not shining knight.” Tech stated, his demeanor unfazed.
“We’re not afraid of you.” Zen huffed without any truth showing in his eyes or the way he fidgeted in the booth.
It didn’t help the pirates menacing stance as they all suddenly began to toy with their weapons.
Of course Tech would have this effect on them. He was a highly skilled clone trooper after all. He’s seen more battle and bloodshed then all of them put together.
This had a smirk spreading across any face at the thought.
They are all dead meat.
“Your hands are shaking.” Tech glanced to the man, “By my calculations you have -1 chance in making it out of those doors alive if you don’t give her that chip.”
“And why is that?” Zen motioned to his group as if he still had the upper hand.
The group of pirates chuckled alongside their captain even if it was evident that fear laced their entire beings.
If only they knew.
“Because he’s not alone.” I spoke as the rest of the bad batch surrounded the pirates.
I couldn’t help the fluttering in my chest as Tech helped me out of my seat, reaching over to grab the case with chip.
“I suggest you take your credits and call it a night.” I recommended as I slid the case over to the pirates.
They didn’t even have a moment to blink before the rest of the Bad Batch were on them. A satisfied feeling filled my chest watching Hunter press a knife to Zen’s throat, finally wiping the arrogance from him.
Hunter waited silently for an answer with all the patience in the world. He knew how to deal with pirates and when Zen relented… Hunter casually released the scarf around his neck, at the same time removing the knife from his throat as well. The stony look on his face never left as he took as step back, sheathing his sharp blade.
Wrecker huffed at the lack of excitement, pushing the pirate with purple hair down into the booth. Echo remained quiet and composed as he stepped back from the woman, lowering his blaster.
“It was pleasure doing business with you.” I smiled before the boys and I walked away.
“I had it handled you know.” I stated the moment we were out the door.
The night was warm yet I still couldn’t help, but wrap my arms around his waist as we walked to their ship. It felt nice being able to hug him without feeling his muscles tense.
I remember the first month of us dating. I chuckled inwardly at the thought of how hesitant he was to touch me.
I knew it wasn’t his form of showing affection, but he also knew that it was mine and so with time we finally began to understand each other.
Now look at how much he has changed…
“I know you did. I just couldn’t help it… Plus, it’s fun make you blush mesh’la.” Tech teased.
“How did you know where I was?” I asked as we walked up the ramp.
“He asked Sid the moment we got back.” Wrecker slapped Tech’s shoulder as he walked by.
Tech huffed as he stumbled from his brother’s blow. A smile forming on my face as we steadied each other.
“You asked about me?” I wondered, “Why not call?”
“Sid said you were on a job and I didn’t want to interrupt you.” A soft laugh fell from his lips, “However, it seems I did just that by walking in on your deal.”
Echo didn’t help as he smirked at his brother, “To put it simply he missed you.”
My heart soared at the words, “You missed me?”
Throughout our time together, he’s never outwardly said that he missed me.
He was always composed after missions, meeting me when we set a time and place. He’s never crashed one of my deals like this before... All because he missed me?
A rare blush crossed his face and it made me squeeze onto him tighter, the smile never once leaving my face.
He was even cuter when he became all shy like this.
“I missed you more than I would like to admit.” Tech stuttered over his words, failing to look me in the eyes.
I giggled at his cute reaction, leaning up to place a gentle kiss on his lips. It was a kiss that made my heart melt and his eyes flutter close before looking at me again. This time his shoulders were more relaxed and a calm smile rested on his plush lips.
“Now that this love fest is over, get on board. I don’t know how long Sid can keep Omega settled before she starts trying to track us.” Hunter chuckled as he waved his hand to the two of us to follow him.
“I missed you too brown eyes.” I spoke softly as the two of us walked up the ramp, “More than i would like to admit.” I teased his words back to him.
His hand to wrap around my waist, pulling me into his side.
“I’m glad we’re on the same page then.” He smiled.
“Me too, my love.” I said as my heart filled with warmth.
I have never felt this way with anyone before I knew for a fact that…
I will never be able to let go of this sweet and gentle man.

Hunter x Jedi reader x (Platonic) Tech
Unrequited love is a real Bantha
Angst / Fluff
Pt 7 of You Drew Stars
It was the suddenness of it all that had Tech standing in place from when he landed in the forest ground. The shock overwhelming his body like a wave. He was safe… He could feel the breeze against his flushed cheeks. The hum of the birds. The song of the trees but she…
She was…
He couldn’t bare to look above him even though the clouds covered the top of the building. Where she lied, no longer able to feel the sun or the drops of rain.
Was it raining?
No… It couldn’t be. The planet’s surface only allowed rain every four rotations and the last rotation had already passed before we arrived.
It wasn’t rain and yet he still felt droplets of water fall from his eyes and onto the his shaking hands.
No it wasn’t raining.
His mind raced with possible outcomes of her surviving. Maybe the wound wasn’t as bad? Maybe she only lost some blood? Maybe she was safe… and yet his mind flashed to the fatal scorch of the blaster imbedded in her skin.
His mind once again remained blank and scattered all at once.
“Tech… Tech do you copy? General? We got our safely.”
It was the voice of his brother who brought him out of his numbing daze.
“Plan 56. Good luck.” Hunter’s voice clicked out.
Follow the coordinates.
What would he tell Hunter?
How Tech got to the coordinates Echo dropped he couldn’t tell anyone. He doesn’t even remember looking at his data pad. It was as if he was on autopilot and his mind was a galaxy away and in a sense it was. It was where she sacrificed herself so that he could live.
This is all my fault. This is all my fault. This is all my fault.
It was what he repeated to himself over and over with each step he took further from her and towards his safety. His bottom lip bled from how hard he was biting it.
He could feel the air that filled his lungs and he could only imagine how still hers were. Her body motionless, no longer filled with the life she once held in her smile, her mind, her laugh.
His best friend was truly gone and he only had himself to blame.
My fault… My fault… My fault.
His brothers watched worried from the ship as Tech emerged from the tree line. They saw the rigidness in his movements, the way he hunched over more than usual. Tech did little to notice them as he kept coming closer and closer.
The only thing he could see was himself falling away from the danger and watching as her body fell onto the floor.
It’s all my fault…
“Tech?” Echo’s voice was filled with caution as he studied his brother.
A ranging cry fell from Tech’s lips as he tried to get a hold of himself. He couldn’t deal with this. He needed to be calm, he had to get back to the ship. He had to get away from the look in her eyes. He had to keep going…
Run… Run… Run.
He took another step and it was Hunter once again who was the first to place a hand on his brother’s shoulder, startling him from the overwhelming emotions surging through him.
“Tech… What happened?” Hunter asked slowly and carefully in a way that would calm his brother down.
“I don’t understand! I don’t understand!” Tech screamed as he held onto his head, “I don’t! It doesn’t! I can’t!”
“What don’t you understand Tech?” Hunter asked.
“It should have been me! That shot was suppose to hit me! She- It’s my fault. I…” Tech’s bottom lip trembled and suddenly he was sobbing.
Echo’s eyes widened at the shocking display, Hunter’s heart clenching with fear. Tech never sobs and now here he was wi the tears flowing down his cheeks and the General wasn’t with him.
Wait.
Hunters brow furrowed. The General wasn’t with him… Where was she? He wondered as he used his abilities to see if she was near by, but found nothing to ease his worry.
Wrecker bounded out of the marauder with a lightness in his heavy step. He munched on one of the ration bars expecting for the group to be in a cheerful mood after the mission only to see his brothers in a state of panic. Wrecker’s brows furrowed as he looked around noticing that one of their team was missing.
“Hey, where’s the General?” Wrecker asked the question that his other two were too scared to say.
And suddenly the forest seemed quiet. Too quiet as if they mourned alongside the brothers. Not even the unknown species scattered across the trees let themselves be known. The only sound that carried through the thick forest was Tech’s sobs. He couldn’t form a sentence, his hands shaking as he sobbed.
“She didn’t make it… Did she?” Echo spoke the question that Hunter refused to ask.
Tech should his head at it was the only answer they would get as they led their brother inside the ship.
The ship felt eerily quiet, nothing but the thrum of the ship gliding through hyperspace. Echo flew the ship alone, Tech huddle in his bed as feeling of guilt flew through him. Feelings that he didn’t know how to process causing him to shut down completely. Wrecker sat on one of the crates, hands empty for he didn’t have Toola to comfort him through the loss.
And Hunter… Hunter felt numb. His insides as cold as the wind on this planet. He desperately tried to grasp onto anything, but his heightened senses were muted as he sat in the copilots seat.
It was hours before anyone of them could accept what had happened. Such a simple mission… In and out. That’s all this was. They were supposed to make it out together like they always had.
Why was this happening… Hunter thought as he closed his eyes.
It he focused hard enough, he could still smell her scent wafting through ship and with his eyes closed, he could almost pretend that she was here with them.
“I remember the time she and General Tano pranked General Skywalker.” Echo spoke with a fondness to his voice, “It was back in my rookie days with the boys. We walked into our mission meeting only to find General Skywalker’s hair pink.”
Hunter glanced over at his brother who was smiling to himself.
Echo chuckled, “Those two girls were a menace in their youth, but I suppose all of us were.”
“Hm…” Hunter agreed.
“I’m sorry…” Echo’s voice was gruff yet gentle as he spoke for the first time in hours.
“I’m sorry too. We all lost a friend today.” Hunter replied as a leader should, “But, I’m worried about Tech.”
“I’m worried too…” Echo shook his head, “I’ve never seen him like that before.”
“He handles emotions differently then others.” Hunter explained, “I’ve only seen him like this once when we were younger. He couldn’t handle being apart from any of us.”
“Can I ask you a question?” Echo asked.
“Yeah.” Hunter agreed numbly.
He wanted anything to distract him from the pain that was slowly engulfing his very being and yet he didn’t cry. He couldn’t…
Not until his family was okay.
“Was she just your friend?” Echo asked.
This question made Hunter sigh as his shoulders tensed.
So much for a distraction. Hunter thought displeased, but he also didn’t understand what Echo could be implying.
He closed his eyes with a sigh, “She was also my best friend.”
“Just your best friend?” Echo prompted.
“Yes.” Hunter looked up at the ceiling.
“We’re all best friends, family even, but I’ve seen the way you look… Looked at her… And it is far different from the way I look at her…” Echo trailed off hoping that he wasn’t taking it too far.
“What are you implying?” Hunter’s brows furrowed, “I’ve only ever looked at her with respect and care. She is my general and my friend… Was my…”
“I’m sorry.” Echo sighed, “All I’m trying to say is that out of everyone on this ship you lost the most today.”
“Not just me…” Hunter’s shoulder fell as he glanced at Omega’s room.
“What are we going to tell her?” Echo asked.
Hunter shook his head, “The truth.”
With that, their home was once again filled with silence.
“General, you need to be careful.” He spoke with a repressed sigh.
“Careful isn’t my middle name.” She countered with a lighthearted tone even as she cringed from the pain.
“It should be.” Hunter muttered.
He worked on swiftly bandaging near her shoulder with a blaster shot only inches from her heart.
“What would have happened if I wasn’t there?” He continued with a shake of his head, “You could have been killed.”
“It had to be done to save those citizens.” She paused as she looked him in the eyes, “I don’t need to be careful when the mission is at stake, when the safety of my squad is as stake.”
“Still…” Hunter tried, but she only shushed him.
“Besides, I’ve got my best friend to protect me aka you.” She insisted with a playful poke to his arm.
His brows furrowed the way they always did when he was worried, “What if I’m not there?”
He noticed the smile slip from her face, concern replacing it instead.
“One day I may not make it back, but promise me you’ll take care of our team. We’re not just a group, but a family so make sure they’re okay.” She said sincerely.
“Hunter promise me…” She insisted.
“I…” He trailed off.
“You need to wake up now Domů.” Her voice was light as she held a playful look in her eyes.
But the question confused Hunter.
This was not how this conversation was supposed to go.
“Huh?” He asked, confused.
She leaned down close to him, their lips brushing as she whispered.
“Wake up.”
Hunter’s eyes quickly snapped open to the sound of Echo’s voice.
It was just a dream… He thought as a painful feeling filled his chest.
“She never told me what that name meant.” He whispered more to himself, but Echo heard him.
Echo sat on the bed, next to his younger brother, “What name?”
“Domů.” Hunter sighed.
“Would you like me to tell you?” Echo asked with nothing, but gentleness in his tone.
Echo knew what the word meant and he also knew just how important it was to the both of them.
“No.” Hunter shook his head, “I’d rather not know… I only wanted her to tell me…”
Echo nodded at the quiet implication.
“What did you wake me up for?” He asked as his foggy mind began to clear.
“We’re here.” Echo said solemnly, “And Omega… She’s already at the front.”
Hunter lifted himself from his bunk, the weight of his shoulders suddenly weighing down heavily, “I’m coming.”
He tried his best to make his tired appearance more presentable.
“How is Tech doing?” He asked Echo as the walked to the exit of the ship.
“Quiet, but he seems better than before.” Echo answered.
It was there that they all stood at the exit, none of the brothers wanted to open ramp. They stood in their bubble, hoping to delay the look on Omega’s face once she finds out what happened.
It was Hunter who finally opened the ramp, heading down with heavy steps as Omega waited excited at the bottom along with Phee.
“You’re back!” Omega greeted excitedly as she hugged her brothers.
“How did it go? Did you see Rex? I tried to comm you Echo, but you didn’t respond.” She motioned to the comm on her wrist.
“I’m sorry.” Echo chipped in before she started to ask even more questions.
Her questions came out like rapid fire and it was hard to form any sort of answer.
“Did you find what you needed? Can I come with you to deliver it this time?” Her questions surged through the air before the slowed to a confused look.
She glanced at the Marauder, “When is she coming out? Is she sleeping? I want to hear her stories about what happened.”
The brothers all looked at each other with guilt wracking through their bones.
“Hunter?” She looked to him for answers.
“Hey kid listen…” He said as gently as he could muster.
“Where is she?” Omega pressed.
It was Phee who caught on to the boys solemn moods and motioned for Tech to come towards her and out of view of Omega. She placed her hand on his arm and his act fell as his shoulders slumped in defeat, leaning into her for support.
“Omega…” Hunter glanced down at her, the heartache evident in his eyes.
“What?” She asked, the confusion evident on her face.
“She’s…” A slump formed in his throat that he tried to swallow.
“What is it?” Omega asked impatiently, “I want to see her.”
Hunter tried to get himself together, he really did but he felt his invisible armpit chip away piece by piece.
“Is she hurt?” Her impatience fell to worry, “If she’s hurt, I should go help her.” She began to walk past him to get to the ship, but he stopped her with his arm.
He looked to the side, unable to look her in the eyes as he said, “She’s gone Omega.”
“What do you mean she’s gone? Was she captured? We have to go back to get her.” She balled her fists and tried to get past her brother once again.
“No.” Hunter spoke gently and this time he knelt in front of her and gently held her by her arms.
“What if she’s hurt? She needs us.” Omega said quickly as she tried to pull away from his grip.
She huffed in anger, “What are you all doing just standing here? We have to go now! Tell him we have to go now... Wrecker? Echo? Tell him!”
Wrecker and Echo looked at the young girl, pity and grief evident in their eyes.
She quickly looked back to Tech for any support only to find him holding onto to Phee as if she was his lifeline and right now she was.
“We can’t just leave her.” Omega insisted, panic rising with her voice.
“Omega…” Hunter tried to pull her into a hug, but she pulled away.
“We need...” Omega’s eyes began to fill with tears, “We need to help her.”
“She’s not coming back Omega.” He managed to say through a ragged breath, “She didn’t make it.”
“That’s not true! She promised she’d come back. Make her come back Hunter!” Omega struggled against his grip as she yelled, the tears she held back now running freely down her cheeks.
“I can’t.” He shook his head as he tried to keep himself together, “I can’t and I wish in every bone in my body that I could bring her back, but I can’t.”
“No! My mom’s not gone!” She shook her head, “She can’t be…”
“I know… I know kid.” Hunter sighed and she finally fell into him for a hug.
“We are a family.” Omega cried into his shoulder, “We are supposed to stick together…”
Wrecker’s shoulders slumped at the scene as he ran a hand over his face to wipe away his tears. No longer would he hear his general’s stories or get warm soup when he was feeling ill.
Echo remained silent, the years of loosing his brothers keeping his emotions sealed away, but he couldn’t help the sadness that crept in his eyes.
“What… Happened?” Her voice cracked as she struggled to get the words out.
“We were surrounded. She was shot by a blaster and her wounds were severe…” Tech spoke for the first time in a while.
“What?” Omega gasped.
It took him a moment before he could speak again, “She didn’t let me try to help her. We were running out of time… She knew that and she still did everything to save me.”
This revelation had Omega crying even more knowing that her brother could have also been killed…
“I am sorry Omega. I truly am.” Tech shook his head with grief, “This is all my fault.”
“No.” Omega stated stubbornly as she pulled away from Hunter’s comforting hug.
“This… This is all there fault!” Omega’s voice grew angry, “They took Crosshair, they took my mom… I won’t stand for this! They will pay for tearing apart our family.”
“No Omega.” Hunter shook his head, “The general made a sacrifice to save Tech. She did everything her power to make sure our brother would come back to us.” Hunter said with a solemn look in his eyes.
“But she’s gone now because of them!” Omega yelled.
“We’re not going to let her sacrifice die in vain. We’re going to stay together and continue to protect one another. I say that it is time to put being soldiers behind us. For good.” Hunter stated, his words final.
It wasn’t until later in the evening, when the sun was about to set upon the glittering sea that the small batch of siblings took their place at Hazard’s table.
“You know from what I’ve heard from Omega here, you would be an integral part of our community.” Hazard said with a lightheartedness to his tone.
The air grew quite as everyone listened closely to Hunter’s words.
“That is kind of you to say. My brother’s and I have been talking and we all think that Pabu would be a good place for us to settle down.” Hunter said.
Omega’s brows furrowed, “It would?”
Echo stepped in, “It will be a fresh start for you to finally live a life away from war or crime.”
Hunter nodded in agreeance, “I know it will be tough and we will all need time to settle into this new lifestyle, but I’m sure that we can figure that out along the way.” He spoke and a small smile forming on his face.
“Sounds like fun! We can finally go fishing like I promised!” Wrecker chimed in with a hearty laugh as he lightened the mood.
“I wouldn’t mind living here.” Tech murmured as Phee placed her hand over his, a small smile on both of their faces.
Hunter looked over to his left at Omega watching as she talked to her new friend, someone who was her age. To see her more relaxed was such a relief to him compared to the tears she shed earlier.
“Omega?” Hunter called for her attention.
Omega pulled her attention away from Lyana and waited patiently for her brother to continue with what he had to say.
“Is this something that you want?” He asked her sincerely, “Your answer matters.”
Omega took a long moment to think about what path she wanted to take and where she wanted to be…
Where my family should be. She thought determined. They deserve to live a happy life.
She’s already lost so many already and she didn’t want to lose anymore of her family. That was certain.
Her answer was decided as she slowly nodded her head, “I would like to stay… She would want us to live here in peace.”
“Then it’s settled.” Hunter agreed as he raised his glass, “For our general.”
“For our general.” Everyone at the table repeated with a raise of their own glasses.
What was supposed to be a day of celebration and storytelling turned into a cloud of sadness as everyone mourned the loss of their General in the setting sky and started to build the foundation of their new lives.
