Suzanne collins wrote a trilogy where a main media propaganda strategy was to market a horrific act of violence as a love story to distract ppl and then it got adapted into a box office breaking movie and ppl made it all about the love triangle. so then since they didn’t get the point the first time Suzanne collins wrote a prequel story about the main dictator and she makes it so that you as a reader want it to be a genuine love story so badly even tho it’s so very clearly not and instead feels extremely unsettling to make her point even more meta which then gets adapted into another box office breaking film and now ppl are making romantic snowbaird tik toks. do u think she’s gonna write another book that’s somehow even more blatant or just give up and start executing ppl? hard to say but I wouldn’t blame her for the second one

The capitol callously watching and commentating on the hunger games as defenceless children are subjected to horror and death but standing up and gasping in horror at Reaper ripping down the flag. Reaper laying the bodies of the murdered children to rest and looking to the camera asking for acknowledgment of their suffering only to be cut off and for the only reaction of horror mustered from the capitol citizens coming from the news of the death of one of their own. The Hunger Games will never not successfully act as a horrifying mirror to the atrocities in our world.

screaming crying throwing up. I finally saw TBOSBAS over the weekend and I am so ready to watch it again to pick up more details.
I do have to say… the cinematography was absolutely gorgeous. As a photographer & graphic designer, the sun flares were 👨‍🍳 💋
ALSO, the music??? My jaw was on the ground when I heard the score!!!
Ugh, so so good. I am disappointed in some things being left out, however, I understand that it is a long book that had to be cut down a lot.
I’m happy about it!!

so i am reading the ballad of songbirds and snakes for the first time ever and i am so invested in the book, i was wondering in your personal opinion if snow ever truly loved lucy but he chose the capitol ways over love instead? also what do you think happens to lucy since we never hear about her? did snow kill her or did she run away and eventually die? my thoughts are that no matter what that lucy gray baird was such a big impact on snow that until his dying day, he is haunted by her.
Hi! I think Snow loved the idea of Lucy Gray. He was (and is) a narcissist who thinks he owned Lucy Gray. "Lucy Gray, my Lucy Gray, is she doing this for me? For my attention? No one else can have her except me." is clear behavior that he thinks it's all about him and his control over her. I think he chose being Capitol over everything. (Like his friendship with Sejanus). He was power and money hungry. I think Snow didn't kill her. My own personal theory is that she made her way to District 13 and ended up telling 13 personal stories about Snow. Which is why the "Mockingjay" is a big deal. Snow's hatred of them since he arrived in District 12 as a peacekeeper. "The shows not over until the mockingjay sings" - Lucy Gray After I finished reading Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, I began to question my theories from over a decade ago. I think strings were pulled to have Prim's named be reaped knowing Katniss would volunteer. They (13) always had an eye on Katniss. Hence Madge Undersee giving Katniss the mockingjay pin. I think her farther, the Mayor, was part of the rebel plan. It all connects! It makes sense on why Snow was OBSESSED with Katniss and wanting to take her down. It reminded him of Lucy, the Covey, life in 12. Katniss singing songs that he heard Lucy Gray and Maude Ivory sing in the meadow. I would give anything in the world to know what was happening in Snow's head when he heard Katniss sing Deep in the Meadow to Rue. And don't get me started on how I think Plutarch Heavensbee is the BACKBONE to the rebellion. Me right now:

okay I've been seeing people talk about how Snow got scared sh*tless when he heard Katniss sing the Hanging Tree in Mockingjay, which is true, but I haven't heard enough about how furious and terrified he must have been when he first heard Katniss sing to Rue, which is the same song Lucy Gray sang to Maude Ivory at the lake.
I forget if the Hanging Tree or the Meadow song was introduced first in TBOSAS, but that's the first song Snow heard. The first song of Lucy Gray's that Katniss somehow knew 64 years later. And she's not just humming it. She's singing it to Rue as she dies before covering her body in flowers.
And he must have known, in his bones, that Katniss was going to be the end of him. God, I love how the prequel explained why Snow was so blindsided and fixated with her instead of Coin.
Like? We know that Katniss and Lucy Gray are different people. They have different personalities and families. But to Snow, it really must have seemed like Lucy Gray came back to haunt him, and it started with Katniss singing Rue to sleep.

Reading TBoSaS was an eye opening experience for me because for a minute I was like Katniss and Peeta had it so much better than Lucy and these other children who were treated like literal animals- transporting them like livestock and putting them in cages not to mention the very public, dehumanizing parades. But then I was horrified at myself because I couldn’t believe myself. It wasn’t better at all, Katniss and Peeta were brought there for the same exact purpose and putting them in fancy dresses and providing them with expensive amenities doesn’t take it away. It’s still the same horrible, wretched, gruesome tradition, I just thought it was better because it was also wrapped up nicely with a pretty bow which I guess was the whole point.

The Hunger Games Renaissance. The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes (2023), dir. Francis Lawrence "“The District Twelve girl tribute is Lucy Gray Baird,” he said into a mic. The camera swept over the crowd of gray, hungry faces in gray, shapeless clothing, seeking the tribute. It zoomed in toward a disturbance, girls drawing back from the unfortunate chosen one. The audience gave a surprised murmur at the sight of her. Lucy Gray Baird stood upright in a dress made of a rainbow of ruffles, now raggedy but once fancy. Her dark, curly hair was pulled up and woven with limp wildflowers. Her colorful ensemble drew the eye, as to a tattered butterfly in a field of moths. She did not make straight for the stage but began to weave through the girls off to her right. It happened quickly. The dip of her hand into the ruffles at her hip, the wriggle of bright green transported from her pocket and deposited down the collar of a smirking redhead’s blouse, the rustle of her skirt as she moved on. Focus stayed on the victim, her smirk changing to an expression of horror, her shrieks as she fell to the ground, pawing at her clothes, the shouts of the mayor. And in the background, her assailant was still weaving, still gliding her way to the stage, not looking back even once."

Omg, my heart. I am so sorry!!!! OLTMJ had us in a CHOKEHOLD and got us through rough times, lmao. I didn't get merch or anything but they did send us (i'm unsure who else) exclusive content that THG put out a few days later. What a wild time!! I need more people to speak up about their OLTMJ experience!!
Your writing is fine. thank you for sharing your thg story. And now I really want to know your old account 😆
And what's the secret from ourleaderthemockingjay stuff?
.cn.
Hahaha! So many people in my inbox have guessed correctly ;) Well, so I'm going to finally come clean about OurLeaderTheMockingjay. It's been almost 10 years. Omg, OLTMJ had the fandom in a CHOKEHOLD. Lionsgate gave us NOTHING about MJ part 1 for MONTHS. We were starving for something. So here comes OLTMJ, they would post spoilers or any other "exclusive" stuff about Mockingjay.
So, they had this game and we had to follow the secrets. Like analyzing photos to reveal a code and we would be able to move onto the next round. I believe it was called Project Alae? Everyone kept saying that they got "Rick Roll" by the end... But, I DO remember there was even a code within that video. Me and another member in the fandom, who is not active anymore but was very popular, ended up getting to the end. I'm unsure who else made it to the end, but I do know other people were in on it too. They sent us Mockingjay Exclusives. I think this was March/April/May 2014. Sorry, Lionsgate lol I would also like to say, OLTMJ was also around for Catching Fire and there was a lot of drama and bad things that happened during that. Please, if you were part of anything about OLTMJ, please message me. I won't publish it, I just want to know who else was involved.
