Yesterday (March 19, 2024) my dad went into cardiac arrest and collapsed in public. A bystander saw and was able to immediately start CPR. That bystander gave him CPR for 10 minutes until paramedics were able to use an AED to get his pulse back. If you don’t know, that’s remarkably rare. The quick action of the bystander giving good quality CPR likely prevented neurological damage. My dad’s not out of the woods yet, but I’m so thankful that he made it past the initial cardiac arrest. Please consider this as a PSA to get trained in CPR; not only does it save lives but prevents brain injury until a patient can be revived.

I was beyond excited to draw this scene. Normally I get asked to draw romance, but this time it was a...different kind of passion. Something inside Kaz came loose, indeed 💀 It's one of my favourite moments in the book, despite what he just did, because it's when I understood exactly what Inej means to him. It's amazing what we'll forgive in fiction that we couldn't in real life. (commissioned by @litjoycrate for their Six of Crows edition)

They are wholeheartedly human, living their lives, while I sit here having no idea what they are doing, how they are feeling, who they've met . . . HAS NINA HAD WAFFLES TODAY?? I am consumed with the need to know and love these characters.

i think the six of crows fandom has a real problem with acknowledging complexity in the characters which is ironic because it’s literally a book about morally grey characters. like yes kaz is a cold blooded murderer who cares more about money than being a good person but he’s also a dumb teen boy with a crush and a bad haircut. inej is a knife-wielding spy as well as a deeply religious girl who never stopped believing in kindness. jesper is a confident, reckless sharpshooter but he’s also incredibly scared and angry. wylan is an empathetic and kind artist along with being a dangerously intelligent explosives expert. nina is a fun, food-loving girl but she also stands up for the oppressed and struggles to recover from an addiction. matthias is an angry druskelle but he’s also the boy who learned to love grisha unconditionally. even kuwei has more depth than we give him credit for. he’s the flirty troublemaker as well as a grieving kid who’s had too much pressure put on him. they all have nuance, please don’t take that away because it’s such an important theme in the books
