could you tell us about how you pursued a DID diagnosis? im looking to be diagnosed but i dont even have a therapist to begin with
For us, we were in therapy for years before we even were aware of our system. Then we talked about it with our therapist who researched psychiatrists to find one who specialized in DID. We then had to have our family doctor send a request to that psychiatrist and were wait-listed. Then we had an appointment with the psychiatrist months later and he diagnosed us. We already had a psychiatrist at the time but he didn’t really understand DID/OSDD so he couldn’t diagnose us.
