what are the main 6 like when they get sick?
Portia - you wouldn't know. She's too busy to be sick.
Nadia - disappears into her chambers until she's feeling better. "You shall not see me in this state."
Lucio - he's not just sick, he's the sickest anyone has ever been ever. No man was ever more sick than Count Lucio. It will make history. It's The Plague (even when it's not the literal plague.) He's being so brave. Very specific about how he likes his chicken soup. You're stirring clockwise? He wants it stirred counterclockwise. Yes he can taste the difference. Not-so-secretly excited about the attention.
Julian - makes the worst patient. Tries to keep doing what he normally does but is melodramatic about it. "I'll be fine, save yourself." Refuses care. Needs to be pinned to the bed [something something joke about pinning]. Finally falls asleep (thank you cough medicine.) Sleeps for 12 hours.
Muriel - Inanna gets protective, never leaves his side and only lets a few chosen ones approach him. He will accept food and maybe even cuddles at this point, but he will grumble about it.
Asra - he knows a spell for it but doesn't use it because being sick gets him out of stuff. Junk food and binging trash TV and 14 hour naps until he gets stir crazy. Miraculous overnight recovery followed by an impromptu trip because he needed some fresh air.

Okay, I just went through the Asra rout and that's what I'm thinking: I have a feeling that Asra sees her relationship with Julian as a game in which he can flirt and then walk off into the sunset and not take responsibility. i know literacy isn’t very common in vesuvia, so how well can the main 6 actually read?
Nadia - exceptionally well
Julian - exceptionally well, Lilinka saw to it.
Portia - she got a late start, only learning how to read as an adult, but she made up for time lost by devouring murder mystery novels.
Asra - his parents taught him how to read when he was very young, before being taken, and he kept reading on his own after.
Asra taught Muriel.
Lucio - he can write, so he can read. Whether he does read and what he reads, that's a different question...

I still can't figure out one thing: did Asra and Julian get to know each other before the apprentice died of the red plague or after that?
They were first introduce at the palace but they very likely knew of each other prior to that because of MC.
