“Don’t Let Them Change Us: A Bad Buddy Fanzine for Palestine” is OUT!
Don’t Let Them Change Us is a digital Bad Buddy fanzine raising money and awareness for Palestinian liberation. Check out our statement of solidarity with Palestinian liberation and actions you can take for Palestine to learn more about why we created this zine.
All zine proceeds go to We Are Not Numbers (WANN), a youth-led organization in Gaza that shares the stories behind the numbers and fights for Palestinians’ human rights, or to direct aid for their writers and their families who are suffering under Israel’s genocide.

The digital fanzine, which is now out, is a full-color PDF with 244 pages and alt text for all images, and includes:
9 fanfics and 1 suite of fan poems
10 full-page works of fanart, plus the cover art featured above
13 smaller spot illustrations, many embedded within fanfics
Our sixteen contributors have been absolutely fantastic! We’ve been spotlighting each of them in our #contributor spotlights tag, but if you missed those, here they all are:

We’re also thrilled to share that, just through pre-orders, we’ve already raised $1,969.50 USD for WANN and direct aid for WANN writers! This fandom has come through big for WANN, allowing us to meet our stretch goal, which means we’ll be raffling off two print copies of the zine among everyone who pre-ordered. We’ll continue taking zine orders at least through the end of May – potentially longer if there is interest. And if you pre-ordered but have not yet received your copy of the zine in your email, please do email us to let us know at BadBuddyFanzine [at] gmail [dot] com.
We also hope that as you’re enjoying the zine, you’ll also keep letting folks know about it if they have not ordered themselves, and also sharing your reactions and feedback with our contributors! If you are so inclined, you can post or tweet about your reactions to the different works in the zine, which we can then share with the contributors:
On Tumblr, tag the contributor's blog if they have one (it'll be listed in the zine) and use the tag “#bad buddy fanzine”, but make sure you list it as one of your first five tags on the posts so that it’s more likely to show up
On X/Twitter, tag the contributor's account if they have one and use the hashtag #BadBuddyFanzine or tag us @/BadBuddyFanzine

Tell us a little about yourself!
Hi everyone! I'm Nands, a hobbyist digital artist from Indonesia. Love to do art for fun and currently into watching TV series! Thanks to some tumblr moots for hyping Bad Buddy back then, I tried to give it a go and liked it in an instant. Luckily I found it when it's still airing and could hype it together with everyone! Good times!
Have you ever created, contributed to, or otherwise participated in a fanzine before?
Yes, I've contributed in about three fanzines before. This is the fourth and I'm so excited to draw BBS again! :D
Why did you want to participate in a fanzine raising money and awareness for Palestinian liberation?
I think it's really nice that we can help in activism through the smallest thing we're capable doing, and through something that we love. I hope with this project we can send our help and love to our brothers and sisters in Palestine, and raise more voice for Palestine liberation.

Can you give us a quick description of your piece in the zine?
Because I really can't choose I made two pieces in the zine (thanks mods for the greenlight :"D)! One is the BBS og6 gang!! I really love to see more of their interactions in the show! Here I made them sleepover at Pran's condo with Pat's new tent (from Our Skyy 2) and Nong Nao!! And the second one is one of my fav BBS icon from the show, when Pat and Pran playing with tin can phones!
What are some of your favorites of the Bad Buddy fanworks you’ve created in the past?
The imaginary 13th episode aka the PatPran rooftop wedding! :D

We’re super excited to announce a new digital Bad Buddy fanzine for Palestine – both to raise money for for We Are Not Numbers (a youth-led nonprofit based in Gaza that tells the stories of Palestinian youth and advocates for their human rights), but also to be able to keep talking about the fight for Palestinian liberation, why we cannot get used to this genocide, and what we can do to fight Israel’s settler colonialism and ongoing nakba until Palestine is free from river to sea.
Your mods for this zine are Science (@sciencebluefeelings) and Deepa (@fiercynn)! It is both of our first times modding a zine, but we’re fortunate to have guidance from friends with much more experience. The digital zine will feature new fanart, fanfic, and fan poetry exclusive to the zine, made by seventeen different contributors in Bad Buddy fandom. We expect the zine to be out in mid-April 2024.
We’re also opening up our Order Form now so that you can pre-order a copy of the zine if you choose. Our How to Order Your Zine page explains how you can make your donation directly to WANN and share proof of your donation with us while still maintaining your privacy. Of course, if you want to wait until we’ve shared more about the zine, or until the zine is completed, that is totally fine – the order form will stay open through the end of May 2024 at least.
