sayu do you have any tips on applying to american unis (im international so idk how common apps really work) - also! did you apply to any ivies / would you be comfortable sharing your uni experience so far? im trying to figure out if american uni is for me because i want to travel far way from home!

hiii!! yes i dooo !! it's been a couple years since i applied but i can gather some important tips for you! i did apply to some of the ivies and i don't mind sharing my experience so far! i go to an ivy rn and i will say. deffff do your research on school environments (like the culture on campus, how they deal w mental health (!!!), and resources available to you as an international student). feel free to message me off anon if you need more tips or the tea on shitty school culture bc girl (gn). i got you.

start working on your personal essay early! i'm pretty sure a lot of schools are becoming test optional (?? right ??), so your personal essay is what's gonna make you STAND OUTTTT baby !!!! (and extra curriculars, volunteering, anything else like that)

have only a FEW people you trust look over your essays (personal and supplementals). stay true to yourself even if you get a bunch of critiques

pls. don't apply to tooo many schools bc this shit is so expensive and i regret applying to schools i knew i wouldn't wanna go to. be realistic !!!!! PLS DO RESEARCH ON EACH SCHOOL. PLS.

take your time with those supplemental essays. people told me to just recycle essays (change things up ofc) bc a lot ask similar prompts (to save time), but i feel like this is just so inauthentic. i def rushed some supplemental essays :,) don't be like me

make sure you're applying to a few safeties (in your case, international-friendly), targets, and reaches!! focus on the targets ofc but i think it's always good to shoot your shot hehe
