omg hello! I was the anon that requested that law one shot and can i just say, it was so perfect. i feel like you wrote for him so well i absolutely adored it sm. thank you for taking the time to write it! it was so well written and I felt like law wasn’t ooc at all ahhh. tysm.
anyways i saw you were still looking for more one piece requests so i decided i’d request again (if that’s okay? if not ignore me, my apologies.) but another one piece man that i am absolutely head over heels for is zoro. i simp for this man so hard oml. if you could write a zoro x reader where the reader is jealous of hiryori and her interactions with zoro during the wano arc i will cry (i think i speak for most zoro simps when i say we were all jealous of this girl during this arc.) i guess this would fall under a hurt/comfort genre too? idk. i’d imagine reader is part of the straw hats though, and that there’s a some sort of unspoken preexisting relationship there but that’s all up to you! thank you so much!
YOURS, MINE - RORONOA ZORO X READER

Warnings : general negative feelings, this isn’t to depict Hiyori in a bad light at all, there will be lots of plot holes in this because I am nowhere near Wano, this isn’t proofread, reader is gender-neutral!
Genre : hurt/comfort (my fav hehe)
Word count : 3.0K (holy. shit.)
Additional notes : Oh nonnie, I’m so so glad you liked the Law piece! I enjoyed myself sm while writing it so I’m happy it paid off 🥰 And thank you so much for requesting! However I have a terrible announcement to make… I am absolutely nowhere near Wano😭 I’m VERY behind on One Piece, as I’ve said in my rules for requesting. I had to spoil myself the entirety of the whole Hiyori thing to write this, and I did a lot of research to do that, so there might be some discrepancies. I did adore the request idea though, and I so desperately want to write for One Piece characters, so I got it done! I hope it’s not a let-down though😭 Let me know what you think💗
Requests : Are open! Check the rules over here.

They’d never thought that there would come a day when they would say this, but they were dangerously close to cursing Zoro’s soft-heartedness winning over this time. After all, it was what had gotten them into this mess of a situation in the first place.
Initially, they’d set off with Zoro, as they often did. Considering the fact that they’d always been the one he’d tolerated the most amongst the crew, it had only been natural that their shared comfortable silence slowly developed into lingering glances, prolonged-more-than-was-probably-necessary subtle skin contact, lazy naps together bathed in sunlight in the crow’s nest, and worried murmurs in each other’s ears whenever one left to fight on their own. The development was a gradual one that left a blanket of bliss covering them amidst all the blood and sweat, and so they reveled in always accompanying one another, the words expressing how they felt left unspoken.
They’d shared Zoro’s skepticism when the breathtaking young woman had run in their direction, the frantic look in her eyes only increasing her wariness as she begged the swordsman to help her and the child burrowed in her arms. He didn’t get much time to choose, given that Kamazo had chosen that moment to aim his blade at her—and with a quick glance at her bloodied clothes and visible terror, he struck back as the horrible fight ensued. His kindness and soft spot for weak children and women being sullied by the bloody hands of the wicked had won over.
It wasn’t out of weakness or cowardice that they’d snuck away. Given their experience with the Strawhats, they could certainly pull their own in a fight; after all, that was how Zoro had come to respect them so fiercely from the start. However, they could very distinctly recall an argument from a long-distant past—one where he’d very clearly (almost harshly, even, if they hadn’t known him too well to think that of him) asked them to not interfere with his fights. Clumsy as he was with his firm words, they knew the lingering message.
I cannot guarantee our safety if I worry too much about your protection. I truly cannot afford any distractions. Your strength will be needed elsewhere. I can deal with things better on my own.
Respecting his decision and the effort it took for him to get over his pride to admit that, they’d since adhered to their solo battle strategies. And so with that talk still in mind, they’d left him to protect the woman and the girl, determination set on their face as they bounded off with their own plan to dispose of anyone that should prove to be a threat.
A decision they’d come to horribly regret, really. Especially when they’d happened to stumble upon the shack while scouting Zoro out, overhearing muffled sounds from inside. If they strained their ears hard enough, they could make out what could be soft words of gratitude and immense admiration from a female voice. Frowning, they peered in through the window and saw a sight that sent a painful pang ringing through their chest.
The stunning woman (Hiyori was her name, they’d come to learn) had herself entirely wrapped around his bandaged arm, tugging at him with a sweet expression of concern on her face that reminded them an awful lot of the worry they often wished to display whenever Zoro went out on his own. That feeling was too familiar for them to not recognize, and knowing that this woman was harboring it had them feeling worse than they’d expected.
Zoro’s exasperation and agitation seeped through his yowl as Hiyori pulled at his injured arm once again, and they had half a mind to strut in and push her away. How insensitive of her; pushing a heavily wounded man like that, even if he himself insisted on moving, was absurd! The swordsman knew his own limits well, but aggravating his injury still was too careless of her.
The bitter thoughts welling up inside of them stunned them momentarily, and they stilled in place from outside the shack. Since when had the mere idea of seeing him with someone else disturbed them so greatly? This wasn’t fair on either of them. Hiyori had no blame in this—after all, the young woman hadn’t done anything wrong to cause them to feel such anger towards her. In fact, she’d protected Toko as best as she could, even going as far as to shield her with her body.
And in all honesty, they couldn’t even blame her for expressing admiration for the man that had clearly stepped up and risked dealing all of the damage for their sake. His incredible strength and indomitable mental fortitude were a force to be reckoned with, and they knew more than anyone else just how awe-inspiring he was.
But a small part of them—the part that dug its heel in and turned its nose away to spout venomous words in their mind—remained stubbornly annoyed. Hadn’t their own feelings sprouted from admiration as well? It was how things started, wasn’t it?
No, no, that wouldn’t do. They shook their head at the awful thoughts that clouded their mind, no longer even looking through the window, too caught up in their messy thoughts. Before pointing any fingers and getting mad at a woman they’d never even met prior to this, they’d have to remember that Zoro didn’t owe them anything. After all, there hadn’t been anything official between them; nothing of concrete substance. It wasn’t as though he was their boyfriend.
Still, the very thought alone drove a sharp knife deeper into their gut, twisting and leaving a gut-wrenching pain in its wake. Perhaps it was only wishful thinking and useless whining on their part, but a part of them had believed that words weren’t needed to expressed the affection they’d thought they’d shared between them—and perhaps they’d blindly hoped that that same sentiment would’ve been enough reason for him to completely rebuke any approaches from Hiyori. He couldn’t be that oblivious, really, could he?
This was just ridiculous. With a roll of their shoulders and a determined expression on their face, they brushed off all their distracting thoughts. Dwelling too long on this was useless. The conversation going on inside had long turned to background noise, and with that, they walked off.
***
After finally catching up with the rest of the crew at the ruins of Oden castle, they slumped in their seat, a detached and rather despondent look on their face.
“Weren’t you with Zoro?” Nami asked, a small frown on her face as she watched a troubled look flash in their eyes. “What did that idiot do?”
They weren’t really trying to be rude or anything, but they hadn’t the willpower to mention anything they’d seen. It wasn’t important anyways, so they only shrugged and hoped that it would pass as that. Nami’s frown only deepened, but before she could open her mouth to question them further, a loud cry of their names had them turning around to watch as Brook leaped in their midst.
“Zoro-san!” he cried out, his jaw dropping as he seemed incredulous, “You’d never believe what I saw him doing!”
Furrowing their eyebrows, they looked up at him. “What happened?”
“He was asleep, with a lovely maiden in his arms! They seemed rather cozy too,” Brook hid his face in his hands, clearly distraught, “I don’t think I’ve ever been this envious of him. She looked so coy and sweet too.” Sighing, he went on to say, “I wished she’d look into my eyes like that while cuddled up to me… though I have no eyes, and there’s only bones for her to cuddle! Yo ho ho ho!”
“Oh my,” Robin chuckled, amusement flickering in her eyes, “That’s certainly an interesting turn of events.”
Neither of them had noticed how their face had turned away as their heart plummeted at his words. Though Brook was a terrible gossip, he was never one to tell a lie, so what he’d just said had to be the truth and nothing but. A small part of them argued in the back of their mind that there had to be some sort of logical explanation or a misunderstanding of some sort, but even if there had been, it didn’t matter. The swelling pain in their chest that threatened to spill their tears wasn’t letting up, and they didn’t care to know more about Zoro and that Hiyori anymore.
There were many cries of envy and shocked gasps and murmurs amongst the crew members, but they could hardly pay attention to anything other than their own thunderous heartbeat in their easy and that queasy feeling in their gut. Since when did Zoro let others—aside from their crew on certain occasions, that is—cling to him? It was nauseating; how jealous they felt at the moment, and how upsetting it was admitting that fact to themself alone.
Without so much as a word, they brushed themself off and got up, mumbling something about wanting to go for a walk. Though Sanji made a concerned comment, they shouldered every single one of their jumbled emotions like a heavy jacket and left the crew behind for a bit of fresh air, and hopefully some clarity of thoughts.
***
“Hey. Hey. Oi!”
Sitting on a jagged tree stump, they turned at the voice of the person they least wanted to see at the moment. Mustering their nerves, they gave him their most withering look, to which Zoro visibly winced.
“What did that damn skeleton say?”
“I don’t know, is there something in particular you didn’t want him telling us?” they cooly replied, arching their brow pointedly as he seemed to struggle with what to say.
“No, but knowing him he probably said things that weren’t true,” he grumbled.
They prickled at that. “Are you implying that Brook is a liar?”
“I didn’t say that,” he quickly shot back, “I just… he probably hasn’t said everything or explained anything properly.”
“And why does it matter to you? What you personally do shouldn’t concern any of us.” Shrugging, they crossed their legs. “It’s your life after all, not ours. You don’t owe us any explanations.”
“Stop pretending like you don’t care,” Zoro snapped, scowling at them even though his eyes showed clear concern for them. “Just… listen, okay?” He paused for a second, watching the dubious expression on their face, before adding, “Please.”
Hesitating for only a moment, they nodded. “Alright.”
He sat near their feet, crossing his legs as he leaned back a little against the tree stump. “Kamazo got me with his scythe.” Lightly, his fingers grazed the bandages on his chest. “That woman—Hiyori—she managed to stop the bleeding and wrapped me up like this when I was passed out. Woke up, she thanked me and told me of her identity.” He looked up at them. “I’ll tell you about who she is when we regroup. Anyways, I fell asleep again in the middle. Too tired.”
“Best sleep of your life, I’d wager,” they mumbled under their breath, rolling their eyes as they let their annoyance slip past the icy façade for a moment.
Zoro’s stare intensified at their face, something akin to helplessness on his own. A small, bitter part of them was glad to see him fumbling to find answer.
“You know damn well that’s not true,” he sounded a little irritated as he said this, and so he took a couple of seconds to close his eye and calm himself down. “Woke up and the damn woman was stuck to me like a leech. Said something about it being cold. Dunno, I was pretty much out of it when I first woke up.”
It seemed he was being honest, so they took the chance to ask him, “Did she… happen to show any indications of any…intentions?”
Zoro awkwardly glanced to the side as he cleared his throat. “Yeah. She said men liked it when she slept beside them. Asked me if I did,” and before they could interrupt him, he continued, “And I told her to shut the hell up. Think I got the message across.”
For a few seconds they both remained silent, before they nodded, “Fine. I believe you.”
The swordsman blinked blankly. “Is… is that it? You don’t have anything to ask me?”
“I mean, what else should I say?” they sighed, something cold and hard in their chest melting slowly as the brown eye they always found themself seeking worriedly tried reading their expression. They stood up, offering him a hand to pull him up. “Come on, looking up like that can’t be comfortable for your back. Let’s get back to them. You need proper rest.”
“I’m fine,” he grumbled a little, but remained otherwise quiet as he followed them. And maybe it was just their imagination, but they could’ve sworn that Zoro had walked much closer to them than he usually did—and maybe it was their own selfish desire to see him smiling at them only, but they were almost sure they saw the corners of his lips quirk upwards a little. The warmth of their cheeks probably gave their thoughts away.
***
Separated for a while after having reunited with the group at the ruins, they waited patiently for Zoro to come back. He’d said he had something to do, and so they’d nodded and silently promised him they’d wait for him. Understanding in his own eye, he’d went off, and they’d grown annoyed to notice that Hiyori had trailed after him. It was a little comforting to know that Zoro had no interest in the woman who’d turned out to be such an important person, but still; was it necessary for her to follow him like a lost duckling?
Upon his return, the other Strawhats had already begun to walk off, too impatient to wait on him all this time. In his arms he carried an unfamiliar sword, its blade gleaming in the light of the setting sun. It almost looked majestic. Though they were gaping in awe at it, they didn’t fail to notice how Hiyori’s smile was a little sweeter and more eager as she walked next to him.
“Enma was my father’s. I know it’s in good hands now,” her voice was soft as she said that, her smile gentle.
Zoro hummed. “Ah.” He paused only seconds later, a slightly concerned look on his face as he spotted the aggravation on theirs. “What’s wrong? Where are the others?”
“They already went off. I was waiting for you,” they glanced back at Hiyori, who was currently murmuring something in Toko’s ears and grinning so wide her face seemed almost dazzling, “Looks like you’re receiving gifts of love now. Don’t let me interrupt.” Part of them was joking, a half-smile on their face, but some annoyance still brimmed underneath the surface, the jealousy still clawing at their chest.
Zoro rolled his eye, exasperation on his face as he impatiently strutted over to them. “Idiot,” he grunted, sheathing his brand new sword and snatching their hand so quickly it momentarily stunned them. Quick to drag them away, their confusion morphed into hyperawareness as his hand curled around theirs, the calloused skin a lot warmer than they expected. “Doesn’t matter how I got it or who gave it to me. Don’t overthink it.”
Now picking up the pace to fall in step beside him, they glanced down at their tightly entwined hands, a grin making its way onto their face as they glanced up to see him flush up till the tips of his ears. Cool-headed and stoic as he might seem to others, it was rather endearing how he was always so easily embarrassed and flustered by any show of affection towards anyone.
The skinship was no exception, but their heart melted just the tiniest bit in their chest as they realized that he’d done that as a form of reassurance; confirmation that whatever they had wasn’t just going on inside their head. Perhaps it was a miniscule display for someone else, but for them, it meant the entire world, knowing just how meaningful it was to Zoro himself; for him to put himself completely out there and expose vulnerability to someone else.
“Getting all soft on me, Zoro?” they teased, despite the blush that warmed their own cheeks as they smiled at him, pointing their chin at their clasped hands as they walked through a much more secluded area.
“Shut up,” he mumbled peevishly, not even turning to face them as his face grew impossibly redder, a strained look on his face, and they struggled to chuckle out loud at how desperately he was trying to not let his embarrassment show any further.
“Oh, but it’s fun to tease you a little,” they grinned, an uncharacteristic joyfulness painting their words as they reveled in the newfound physical touch. They glanced around, noting that there barely was anyone around, if at all, “And no one’s here, anyways, so—“
Before they could say another word, Zoro halted in place, rough hand reaching up to push back their hair and leave a clumsy kiss to their forehead. Rooted to the spot, their eyes blew wide as his lips brushed their skin, leaving it tingling as he pulled away without so much as a glance back. His raging blush to the nape of his neck was more than telling, however, even as he grit his teeth and walked away wordlessly.
Spluttering, they gaped after him, heart clamoring in their chest as a multitude of swelling emotions fought inside them. Of all of the mixed feelings that jumbled up together, the most prominent of them was a deep affection that bordered on something else; something they didn’t dare name lest it slip past their fingers. It completely washed out the bitter taste of any previous jealousy from their mouth, clearing their mind of any coherent thought of anything aside from him and his strong figure in front of them bathed in the warm colors of the sunset. It was a little striking, and they stumbled for a second at the realization.
“I—You can’t just do that! Hey, Zoro!”

Zoro, Sanji, and Nami's Reactions To You Breaking Down In Their Arms

Zoro
His first instinct is to push you away but, for some reason, he can't find it in himself to do so. Instead, he just finds himself standing there in shock, uncertain of what to do or how to fix this.
He'll pat your back awkwardly as you sob into his chest. He feels horrible that he doesn't know what exactly he should be doing, but he also feels angry? Upset? Not at you, but at whatever it is that made you feel this way.
Eventually, he'll grab your shoulders firmly, pulling you away from him so that he can look you straight in the eyes and ask you what happened, racking his brain helplessly for any solution to your problem.
But you don't say anything, just sputter and shake as he keeps his hold on you. Just tell him how to fix it! Anything will do, he just wants to fix it!
"Oi, oi! Calm down! Just tell me what's wrong!"
The two of you end up standing alone on the deck until you tire yourself out and fall asleep on the grass.
He'll sit there with you in the dark, throwing a blanket over you as he leans against the rails of the ship.
He's a little harsh with how he comforts people, but he really is trying to find a way to help you out in your state of turmoil. His first thought is always to protect you and anyone else on his crew, and if he can't find a way to do that, he just gets antsy.
Sanji
Sanji freezes up the second he feels the tears staining his shirt. He's heartbroken and.. confused? Why are you crying?
He'll wrap his arms around you uncertainly as he brings you over to the kitchen table and sits you down, going to make you tea or anything else that's warm for you to drink.
He'll be so gentle in the way he treats you, both physically and with what he says. He can't count the number of times he's felt like this and feels as though he's an expert in what you need the most right now.
"Breath for me," He said, wrapping a blanket around your shoulders as he placed the mug on the table before you, "You'll be okay. Everything will work itself out, promise."
He'll sit there and listen to you and what you have to say for as long as you need, he'd even lock the kitchen door for you so that no one else could walk in on you at your lowest.
He'll reach out to rub your shoulders and whisper words of reassurance to you, promising you that nothing will ever harm you while he's around.
He hates seeing you this way and would gladly do everything in his power to make you happier. He'd stay right there in the kitchen with you forever if you asked.
Nami
She's quick to hug you back, shushing you as she runs her hands along your back. Her first thought is to comfort you, and then later, if you're ready, she'll ask you questions.
She'll guide you into the girls' quarters, sit you down on the bed, and let you sob into her lap as she pets your head, just allowing you to let it all out.
It's quiet and supportive, with no one to interrupt or walk in on you being so openly vulnerable, and you can bet that Nami wouldn't dare to tell a soul if you didn't want her to.
Once you begin to settle down, she'll begin to question if you're alright.
"Feeling better?" She'd smile as she played with your hair, "What happened?"
Afterward, she'd take you out shopping, her treat. A little retail therapy never hurt anyone, and you sure as hell deserved something nice after everything that's happened.
She has such a strong inclination to help whenever she sees anyone she cares about in a state such as this and would do anything in her power to make you feel better. She's so kind in how she approaches you and would gladly sit there and listen to everything that's been bothering you.

“Curly, I’ve been shackled before. You get these kinda wounds from fighting back.”
I combined a few scenes from Bite The Hand by @blasphemlm to create this tender moment between Zoro and Sanji. (They’re supposed to be in the kitchen here but they were out on the upper deck earlier and it made my heart ache.) I’ve wanted to draw something for this fic since the moment I first read it, but the most recent chapter finally got to me. Please read the fic here!!

Breaking up ┃One Piece Pt. 1
Tumblr media
Scenario: Having a huge fight with your bf which ultimately leads one of you to saying something you regret.
"I wish I never met you."
Characters: Monkey D. Luffy, Roronoa Zoro x Fem!reader
cw: 18+, SFW, Angst, Hurt/No comfort, vulgar language
☄. *. ⋆☄. *. ⋆☄. *. ⋆☄. *. ⋆☄. *. ⋆☄. *. ⋆☄. *. ⋆☄. *.
Monkey D. Luffy
“You never even treat me like we're together!”
You were at your breaking point, figuratively and literally. In the last three months that you and Luffy had been together, not once did he change the way he acted towards you. It felt as if you were still just Luffy’s nakama. Well today that was all going to change. You had a plan.
It took some convincing, but you finally managed to get Nami and Ussop to help you set up a romantic dinner in the Sunny’s crow’s nest. Two of Luffy’s favorite things, food and you. It was perfect.
With preparations taken care of, you waited patiently for Luffy to arrive. Your aforementioned captain was currently exploring the island you were stopped at. But with the sun starting to set, he'd be back for dinner any minute now.
So you waited.
And waited.
And waited….
You waited till the candles were near burnt out. Waited till the food went ice cold. Waited till your eyes stung from holding back tears.
Monkey D. Luffy had stood you up.
Your own boyfriend.
Slamming the napkin delicately placed across your lap onto the table, you pushed yourself to your feet. Humiliation creeped its way up your neck. Never in your life have you ever felt so worthless.
Holding back hiccups, you dragged yourself out of the crow’s nest and away from the undisturbed meal. What was Nami going to think? All that preparation for nothing. You clenched your hands into tight fists. The next time you see Luffy you swear you were going to-
“y/n!”
You spun on your heel to face the familiar voice. Luffy’s face smiled brightly at you, blinding you more than the moonlight. It was almost enough for you to forgive him. Almost.
“Wait up!”
Scoffing, you glared at his cheery form before turning away from him. All you wanted was a shower, not excuses.
Luffy caught up with your silently seething form with ease, spinning around you like top. He pranced around as if he were a crow and you his shiny treasure. Your name falling from his lips like a mantra.
Try as you might, eventually you gave into his pestering, voice sharp as nails, “What do you want, Luffy?”
Luffy’s grin widened despite your tone, “Sorry I couldn't make it, y/n. There was a festival in town, you should have come. There was an all you can eat buffet, Tra-guy and Jaggy were there too!” He scratched his chin, “Maybe next time you can invite everyone else so we can all eat together again!”
Your eye twitched, “Why would I invite the whole crew to our date?”
“Date?”
You stopped in your tracks, “Yes, date. You know the ones you're supposed to take your girlfriend out on? That kind?”
You could practically see the gears turning in his head at your reply.
“But I have multiple girlfriends?” “WHAT?”
“Ya! You, Robin, Nami,” Luffy used his fingers to count, “Oh, and Vivi!”
You face palmed, “Not “girl” friends, Luffy. A “girlfriend”. Someone who’s more,” You reached for Luffy’s hand, “Special.”
“But all my friends are special,” Luffy pouted, gingerly returning your touch.
Laughing, you shook your head, “I know. But…It's a different type of special. It's when you wanna hold their hand, and you wanna be near them no matter what,” You met his confused gaze, “It's someone you love.”
“Then why would I wanna do that with you?”
“Huh?”
It felt like your body hit a brick wall. Every word ripped from your throat. He was joking right? It was a sick joke but a joke no less.
“I don’t think I love you.”
You blinked in confusion before choking out a response, “T-Thats okay. Sometimes it takes a while to realize you love someone. It's not immediate.”
Luffy hummed, “I'm not sure I even want a “girlfriend”, y/n.”
A nervous laughter erupted from your throat, “Luffy, what are you talking about?” It felt like your heart might leap out of your chest.
“I like how my friends are now. I don't need a “girlfriend”. I have my Nakama. I have you.”
The world suddenly stopped spinning, and only for a moment the ocean quieted and the breeze hushed. Then, as if nothing happened, the world began to turn as normal, leaving behind your hollowed out body.
"...what?"
Cheeky smiled, Luffy repeated his words as if it was only the news, "I don't need a "girlfriend" I have a crew!"
The empty feeling in the pit of your stomach slowly filled with rage. First, he stood you up. Now? Now, he wants to pretend you guys aren't even dating!?
“Luffy, we're dating! What are you talking about? I asked you out almost three months ago!” You snapped, “Why did you even say yes to me if you didn't want a "girlfriend"?”
“I don't know,” He cocked his head to the side, “I just thought you wanted to be closer friends.”
Your eyebrows furrowed in disbelief, “What?”
Luffy shifted in his sandals, clearly uncomfortable, “I thought you wanted to be my “girl” friend, not my “girlfriend”.”
“Are you joking?” Your skin felt red hot as if your whole being was ablaze, “You thought I wanted to be your “girl” friend!? Did it ever once occur to you that friends don't hold each other’s hands!?”
Luffy quickly retracted his hand from your grip, scratching his head in thought, “Not really.”
“Oh my god,” You couldn't tell if you were laughing or crying at this point, “This whole time you never thought we were together? Ever?!”
“I guess we are a bit closer than everyone else,” Luffy’s brows furrowed in thought.
“A bit?” You ran your fingers through your hair, “We spend every waking moment together! I've confided in you, you've confided with me. You know things about me no one else does!”
To his credit, Luffy looked ashamed, “I’m sorry, y/n. I guess…I just never noticed how you really felt.”
You rolled your tear filled eyes, “Obviously.”
“I can try if you want-”
“Forget it, Luffy,” You held your hands up in defeat, “Just forget it. Whatever you thought was going on here is over.”
Luffy grabbed your arm, “What! I don't want that!”
“You don't seem to want a lot of things,” You shrugged his grip off, “Including me.”
“y/n.”
You wiped your face clear of tears.
“We're done, Lu.”

Roronoa Zoro
"Do I need to be a sword just to get a minute of your attention!?"
Three hundred seventy-six, three hundred seventy-seven, three hundred seventy-eight-
“Are you still counting?”
You rolled your eyes, “Yes, mom.”
Zoro ignored your annoyed response, preferring to continue his push ups below you. Huffing, you rested your chin on your hand. He had been going at this for hours now. You were starting to feel nauseous as your form jostled every time Zoro went up and down with you on his back.
“How much longer?”
Zoro grunted, “When I reach two thousand.”
“Two thousand!?”
Your sudden shout made Zoro shoot up quickly, knocking you off balance. Your criss-crossed form easily flew from Zoro’s back to the ground below. You fell hard, slamming your shoulder into the wood floor.
Hissing, you rubbed your now sore arm, “What the hell, Zoro!?”
“Shit.”
The moss head was quick to his feet, offering you a hand, “Dammit, you should've been more careful.”
You snatched his extended hand and scoffed, “I wasn't the one who moved so suddenly.”
Pulling you to your feet, Zoro continued to hold your hand, “I wasn't the one complaining so loudly.”
“I can’t help it. We’ve been here all day,” You played with his larger fingers, “Plus, you promised you'd explore the island with me today.”
You could hear Zoro grumble under his breath before sighing loudly, “Training is more important right now.”
You furrowed your eyebrows, “What, why?"
Your thoughts raced around in your head to find a reason for Zoro's sudden uptightness. You were quick to settle on striking golden eyes and a small dagger. Dracule Mihawk. He and Zoro had put on quite the show only weeks ago.
Rubbing Zoro's palm, you quirked a brow, "Are you still hung up about that Mihawk guy beating you?”
“I'm not hung up.”
You flinched at Zoro’s tone, “You clearly are.”
Quickly dropping your hand, Zoro turned away from you, “Listen it doesn't even matter what you think. You wouldn't understand. You're not a swordsman.”
“I'm not a swordsman but I'm definitely your girlfriend,” you snapped at his back.
“Just because you're my girlfriend doesn't mean you can control my training.”
“Just because you're a swordsman doesn't mean you can just dismiss me.”
The room filled with a silence thick enough to cut with a sword. You thought you might drown on land. Staring into Zoro's rigid back, you tried to manifest any form of response from him.
Finally, after what seemed like eons, Zoro rolled his shoulders and turned to face you. Your breath caught in your throat at his expression. It was dark, almost...menacing. It was a gaze he normally reserved scum marines and enemy pirates alike, but never for you.
“You're the one who's dismissing me!”
A forced laugh erupted from your mouth, “How am I dismissing you, moss head?” You crossed the space between the two of you, “By telling you to take one measly break?”
Zoro’s eyes bore into your own as if trying to find his next words. Grabbing your hand, he placed it on his bare chest, “Do you see this?”
You tensed at the feeling of the scar tissue, Mihawk.
“This...this scar is why I have to be stronger. For the crew. For Luffy,” Zoro squeezed your hand, “For you.”
You swallowed the lump in your throat, “Zoro, I didn't-”
“Maybe we should break up.”
You paused, mouth stuck open in shock, “...what?”
It felt like you had swallowed glass, pins and needles running down your esophagus into your stomach. But the glass still wasn't enough to fill the large pit beginning to form.
Gently, Zoro pushed your hand away from him, “This relationship,” he took a deep breath, “Might be too much of a distraction.”
You never really understood when people said it felt like their heart was being ripped out of their chest. But now? It felt like your whole chest cavity had been removed.
Slowly, hot tears began to cascad down your rosied cheeks, “You think I'm a distraction?”
Zoro paused, his internal conflicted evident on his face, “...yes.”
You clenched your teeth together tightly, “Screw you, Zoro! I can barely get you to pay attention to me when someone even mentions the word “sword” but I'm the distraction?!” You jammed a finger into his chest, avoiding his scar, “If you needed an excuse to break up with me so badly you could've at least chosen a good one!”
“I’m sorry, y/n,” Zoro favored staring at the ground, “But if I want to be the greatest swordsman I can't be with you.” His hand captured the one buried in his chest, "Not yet at least."
You ripped your hand away from him, "If not now, then never." Your eyes searched Zoro's, looking for any sign of regret, "Choose, Zoro."
"Its over, y/n," Massive arms pulled you into a warm hug, "I'm sorry."
Clutching onto him, you sobbed silently. It wasn't fair. Why couldn't he just have both?
"I love you."
“Fuck you.”

I wish you would - ZORO'S VER. PART ONE
anonymous asked: i’m a sucker for a opla sanji or zoro x jealous reader 🏃‍♀️ just the months long pining, banter and flirting, assumptions, miscommunication, the heartbreak upon realizing that what they had was just in their head, THE COLD SHOULDER i love it. give me it all. anything. THERE ISNT ENOUGH. BUT WITH A HAPPY ENDING. thanks pookie ily 😣
this is a different format than y'all are used to, but i find some requests more fun/easier to write this way! so i hope y'all don't mind :)
anytime your ship would dock on an island, without fail you and zoro could be found in the bar that night
the whole crew knew there was something between you two, something no one could ever have assumed zoro was capable of.
the longing stares brought on by your inebriated lack of filter. you never normally giggled that much? did you. the ghosts of smiles that your jokes brought to zoro’s lips. if you blinked you would miss the way the corners of his mouth quirked up, only slightly.
your friends were getting fed up honestly. how long would you two hide being the masquerade of being best friends? not everyone could bring down zoro’s walls without a second thought. no one had ever made you smile as bright as the green haired swordman. kiss already, jeez.
“oye zor, i could totally take you!” there’s a drunken flush over your cheeks, and as you lean towards the man in question, your drink sloshes around in your glass. he turns to you with a quirk of his eyebrow, placing his drink down on the table. there’s a ghost of blush dusting across his face, his brown eyes swimming with emotions your intoxicated mind is unable to decipher.
you swear there’s a twinkle in his eye as he speaks, “i don’t think you could handle me sweetheart.” the pet name lights a fire in your stomach, and paired with the raps in his voice? you can’t help the visible intake of breath. zoro’s eyes fall to your own lips, the air feels thick with want. as quickly as the moment begins, your pulled from it by the slam of a glass on the table.
“jesus guys! get a room.” usopp's voice grabs your attention, snapping you back to the reality where zoro doesn’t reciprocate your feelings.
most nights would end with you getting sad and leaving off to your room to go sulk and sober up. you knew your place, it was zoro’s closest friend. nothing more nothing less.
so when the girls would flirt with him, (how could they not. he was gorgeous.) you would bite your tongue and kick back more beer. you had no claims to his heart, no valid reason for your heart to sting so much when girls drape themselves over him. the only comfort being he never returned their affections.
until one night, he does? a girl flirts with him and he flirts back. the interaction feels like a personal attack, a sword right through the middle of you. the pain in your heart was worse than any wound you’d acquired in battle. you weren’t sure if it would ever go away.
you’re not even close enough to hear the interaction, (which was probably a good thing). zoro had walked off to sit at the bar alone while you’d stayed sitting at the table talking to nami. your eyes always followed him though, and the frown that falls onto your lips when a girl walks up to him is hard to miss.
“y/n?” nami follows your gaze to see a woman standing next to zoro, and he turns to look at her. his body language is nothing like anything she’d ever seen with anyone but you.
you’re left speechless, mouth open in shock. who was she? and why was she worthy of his gaze? why had he never looked at you like that. you feel a hand placed over yours, and turn to see nami looking at you. there’s a sadness in her eyes, a pity that took the knife in your heart and twisted it.
“what’s wrong mademoiselle?” sanji speaks up, looking at you with concern. you can’t meet his eyes, you know he means well of course. even so, the flirt was the last person you wanted pity from.
the rest of your drink is tossed back, the stinging feeling in your mouth nothing in comparison to the heavy weight on your shoulders. with an unhidden urgency, you left the table, your chair behind you making a loud noise as you make your quick exit. with a jealousy you didn't believe you had the right to possess, you stomp out of the bar. you didn't have the stomach to spare the sight another glance, but if you had, you would have seen zoro’s concerned eyes on you.
you didn't leave your room that night, or the next morning. sanji had brought food to your door, it went untouched. nami had come to check on you, but you waved her off.
even when your beloved captain came, you opened the door with a smile and told him you were just tired. the look in his eyes meant you knew he wouldn't accept that excuse for too long.
usopp came to bug you later in the afternoon, he would take the hint rather quickly.
the one person you wished had come to check on you, was the reason you were curled up in bed with a hole where your heart should be. how funny was that.
when the man finally came to knock on your door, you just turned over in bed. zoro was left there to wonder in silence, what had happened to his girl?

How the Monster Trio would React to You Sacrificing Yourself for Them in Battle
Ft. Luffy, Zoro, Sanji
Fem!Reader (she/her)
Warnings: Implied Injury, Violence, Slight Gore
Hurt/No Comfort
Angst/No Comfort
Luffy
Tumblr media
Luffy dropped to his knees, his latest use of Second Gear left his skin burning and his heart racing.  His opponent showed no signs of slowing down, and for the first time in the long duel, Luffy couldn’t see himself lasting much longer.  The villain charged, sword at the ready, the blade aimed for the young captain's chest, the x-shaped scar acting as his target.  Luffy closed his eyes and felt hot tears burning in his eyes…the sickening sound of the blade piercing flesh echoed in his ears, but he felt nothing.
He opened his eyes, the horror of the situation finally setting in.  Y/n stood in front of him, her arms outstretched, protecting her captain.  The blade was plunged deep into her chest and protruding out her back.  She glared at the man before her, her brow furrowed.  “Stay away from…him.”
Luffy felt his breath catch in his throat, his whole body shook in fear.  “No…” he breathed.  The sword was crudely pulled from y/n’s chest, causing her to fall backwards.  Luffy lunged forward to catch her, her face contorted in pain, blood running from the corner of her mouth.  “Y/n, hey, y/n!”
She opened her eyes, looking up at him, tears in her eyes.  “Hey captain,” she choked. “Sorry, I guess I was a little hasty in my decision making.”  She began to cough, hot blood staining Luffy’s vest.  Rage filled his chest, he gently laid her down and stood up, his eyes dark and hollow.  With a second wind, he used all his power to take out the man before him, the one that hurt his crewmate…
Y/n watched with cloudy vision as the Straw Hat Captain decimated the warrior.  He walked slowly back to her and lifted her limp body into his arms, holding her close.  She felt warm against his skin, she smiled, maybe only in her mind, but she smiled.  “Promise me,” she breathed.  “Promise me that you’ll keep going…you have…to become king…”
Y/n lifted her hand to caress his face.  “No,” he said.  “You have to come with me y/n, you have to be there when we find the One Piece…”
At this point, the rest of the crew was there, each of them holding their breath.  Chopper rushed to the scene, trying to assess the situation.  “She's fading fast,” he said.  “We don’t have a lot of time Luffy, we have to treat her.”
“It’s okay Chopper,” y/n said, turning her head weakly towards the doctor.  “I know I don’t have much time left.  If you don’t mind…I’d like to spend it…with Luffy.”
Chopper nodded, tears of his own now began to pour.  He ran to Zoro who knelt down to comfort his tiny friend, the rest of the crew watching in heartbreaking horror as their crewmate spent her last moments in the arms of young Luffy…his guttural wails filling the still, evening air.
Zoro
Tumblr media
“Dammit,” Zoro gripped his side, hot blood covering his hand.  He couldn’t keep this up much longer.  He drew his third sword, gripping it tightly in his mouth.  “Let’s go,” he growled.  Charging the onslaught of marines. Zoro used his deadly three-sword style to take out a small cluster, but another one was fast to take over.  “Shit,” this whole thing was getting out of hand.  That’s when y/n came running up behind him.
“Mosshead!” She yelled, her staff at the ready.  “You looked like you could use some help.”
Zoro smirked.  “I have it covered,” he was trying not to make it too obvious that he was relieved to see her.  She nodded and went to work.  The marines seemed more determined than ever, and this fight was draining the two of them.  Zoro found himself pinned to the ground under the foot of a powerful commander.  “Do you have any last words swordsman,” the marine sneered as he aimed his pistol at Zoro’s face.
“Do you?” Y/n’s voice came from behind him, burying her knife into the mans back.  The marine yelled out in pain before turning around.  Y/n knocked his pistol from his hand and he retaliated by reaching for her neck and lifting her off the ground.  She kicked her feet and clawed at his arm.  He pulled a knife from his belt and plunged it into her gut.  She let out a pained gag before going limp in his grip.
Zoro’s blood ran cold, he watched in horror as y/n’s body hit the ground.  He felt his whole body shaking as he reached for his sword.  Placing it in his mouth, he summoned the power of his Demon Sword Style.  He decapitated the man, ad took a few more limbs for good measure. The bloody corpse hit the ground and Zoro kicked it away.  At that moment, the seriousness of his own injuries hit him and he fell to his hands and knees.  With blurry vision, he crawled to where y/n’s body lay.  He painfully rolled her over before scooping her up into his arms.  “Hey,” he croaked.  “Hey, hey look at me.  Y/n, look at me.” He held her face in his hand and gently shook her body.  “You can’t do this to me…you can’t leave me like this!  Come on, I already suck with directions, you know that… please don’t go where I can’t follow…”
Y/n laid lifeless in his arms.  Her skin was cold and covered in warm blood.
He pressed a shaking kiss to her forward, tears falling on her face.  “Come back…please come back…”
Sanji
Tumblr media
“Sanji behind you!” Y/n screamed as she ran towards the distracted cook.  He was busy fighting off one attacker that he didn’t see the gunman taking aim behind him.  She charged towards him, jumping in the path of the speeding bullet.  It hit her chest with a sickening thud and she fell to the ground, rolling a few more feet before coming to a stop against a large rock.  Sanji felt time stand still as he turned and saw the love of his life get thrown to the ground.  “Y/N!!!!” He screamed, racing towards her.  Zoro heard him yell and looked over.  “Shit,” he breathed.  He made his way towards them.  “I’ll cover you,” Zoro yelled.  “Get to her!”
Sanji nodded and ran down the short embankment where y/n lay, writhing in pain and gasping for air.  Sanji knelt down, his hands hovering over her in a panic, not sure what to do.  When she started coughing up blood, he sat her up, holding her against him.  She gripped at his suit jacket, trying to ground herself.  “Sanji…” she wheezed.  “Are you okay?”
Sanji forced a laugh, even in her state she was still worried about him.  “I’m fine, my love, but you shouldn’t talk.  You need to save your strength till we can get you back to the Sunny.”
Y/n shook her head.  “Sanji, I’m not making it back to the Sunny…not alive anyway..." Another coughing fit overtook her, warm blood pouring from her mouth. She gagged on the metallic taste.
Sanji grabbed her hand.  “Don’t say that y/n, you just need to catch you breath and then we’ll get you home okay?  Just stay with me, okay, stay with me.”
Y/n caressed his face with her hand, she could feel her consciousness fading fast.  “I love you Sanji…and I’m sorry…”
Moments later, the crew watched as Sanji walked back to the Sunny carrying the limp body of their friend in his arms, his jacket draped over her face…

Summary: “How’re you feeling?”
“Shitty,” Sanji mutters. He’s not sure when Zoro gained the patience of a saint, but it’s making it difficult to be mad at him, which only makes Sanji want to be more mad at him.
It’s not even Zoro’s fault he sprained his ankle. Zoro just happens to be the only one willing to come check up on him and keep him company, probably because of the aforementioned bad attitude, and so he’s getting the brunt of Sanji’s frustration.

When Zoro enters the galley, Sanji crosses his arms and resolutely glares at the wall from his spot on the couch.
He knows he’s being petulant, but damn Zoro for walking around with no problems while Sanji is holed up in here, hardly able to cross the room without help.
Zoro gently sets his swords aside and presses an even gentler kiss to Sanji’s forehead despite the bad attitude. “How’re you feeling?”
Chopper at least hasn’t banned him from cooking, as long as he promises to lean most of his weight on the counter or sit on a stool, and get help moving from point A to point B. Thank god for the small miracles, Sanji supposes, because he knows damn well he’d be going even more insane sitting here being completely useless in addition to being helpless.
It’s more annoying than anything, at least that’s what he tries to placate himself with. It’s just a sprain, it’s not that bad, and yet every attempt to walk around on his own ends with his foot throbbing and Chopper yelling at him that he’s just as bad a patient as Zoro.
And so, here Sanji sits, with nothing to do in between meal times but smoke and read books Robin has brought him and try not to die of boredom.
He’s stayed mostly in the galley to avoid having to travel too far on his injured ankle, even sleeping on the couch so he doesn’t have to ask anyone for help walking to the bunk room. His ankle’s been wrapped and propped up to help with the swelling, and Chopper brings him regular doses of anti-inflammatories, and Sanji feels his sanity slipping away with each passing minute, growing snappish and irritable with anyone else who tries to talk to him, because even though he’s still cooking, he can only really make simple things, and he just feels so useless.
Zoro’s already used to his bad moods, though, and hasn’t let him wallow in his latest misery alone.
He tucks Sanji’s hair out of his face and kisses him again. “Do you need anything? More ice?”
Sanji sighs. “Yeah. More ice.” Chopper instructed him to ice the injury every fifteen minutes. It’s probably been about thirty.
Zoro grabs him his ice, carefully lifting and placing it around his injured ankle so it doesn’t get jostled too much. “Anything else?”
“No,” Sanji grumbles. He knows he’s being bitchy, but he can’t help it. Fuck Zoro for having two perfectly functioning feet and for being so nice to him.
Zoro huffs at him fondly. “Alright. I’ll come check on you again later.”
“Wait,” Sanji calls. Faced with the prospect of alone, again, Zoro’s company is certainly preferable. “Come back.”
Zoro sits beside him and gives him a questioning look.
“Shut up,” Sanji tells him. He feels his cheeks flush. “Just…just stay with me for a bit, yeah?”
Zoro’s arm wraps around his shoulders. Sanji hides his face in his boyfriend’s neck, leaving his next words muffled.
“‘M’sorry for bein’ grumpy.”
“It’s okay.” Zoro’s hand finds its way to his hair again. “Why don't you try and get some rest? You look tired.”
He is tired. Despite sitting and doing nothing having no physical toll, it’s taking a mental toll someone as usually active as Sanji wasn’t prepared for.
“I’ll stay with you,” Zoro promises, unprompted.
When Sanji is feeling better, he definitely needs to find a way to repay Zoro for dealing with him, he thinks.
Until then, he’ll just use his shoulder as a pillow.

it terrifies me what I would do for you (zoro x reader)
Prompt from @tsunderedoctor
CW: a lil angst, but happy ending!
WC: 796
in the moments after a close encounter, zoro grapples with himself. what’s more important--you? or all of the goals that he has been working towards? he wasn’t sure anymore.
Tumblr media
Zoro had only two aims in life–to become the world’s greatest swordsman, and to see Luffy become King of the Pirates. These aims made him steadfast, fiercely loyal, and unwavering.
Recently, however, a third aim began to creep into his singularly focused mind. It happened quietly, so quietly that he didn’t notice until after it was already firmly planted. To have you. To keep you safe. To make you happy. It was this aim that made his chest tighten, made his stomach sink low and his hands clench and ache. It was this aim that threatened to burn all of his immutable plans until they were nothing but ash. And you had no idea.
But here, in a back alley of some forgotten town on some forgotten island, a deep panic set in for Zoro. He was flattened against a stone wall, your back pressed tightly to his chest. One strong arm wrapped around your waist, and his calloused hand was covering your panting mouth.
“They went this way!” A Navy soldier shouted. Footfalls faded along with the sound of their voices as they passed your dark hiding place.
He was sure you could feel his heart pounding between your shoulder blades. His breaths were quick and shallow in your ear.
I left him. He thought with horror. I left Luffy.
No matter how capable his captain may be of fending off any number of enemies, that was besides the point for Zoro. He vowed to always be by Luffy’s side, always be ready whenever he was needed. And he left him.
In the chaos, Zoro’s only thought was keeping you safe. And in that chaos, he left his captain behind. He was at war with himself, guilt and relief, fear and longing, all wrapped into a tangled, angry knot.
“Phew,” you laughed quietly, “that would’ve been bad.” He jolted, and his thoughts snapped to the present like a stone in a slingshot.
“Zoro? You okay?” You questioned. He suddenly felt hot with embarrassment. He relinquished his grip on you after another long moment and looked down, shame beginning to fill his body.
You were confused. What happened to the light-hearted teasing between the two of you only moments before the Navy showed up?
He didn’t trust himself to speak.
“Did I do something wrong?” You asked. He hated the way the insecurity crept into your tone. It wasn’t your fault he was having a crisis of identity. Well, actually. It was. It was completely your fault. Suddenly, he was flooded with anger. He pushed away from the wall and turned his back to you.
“Yes, actually,” He said before he could stop himself.
Even with his back turned, he could feel your expression. “...really? What–” You started, choking a little on the question. “What did I do?”
He whirled to face you. “You showed up, y/n. That’s what.”
Your voice caught in your throat, your lips agape.
“You showed up, y/n,” He repeated. “And you wrecked everything. Things were so much easier when you weren’t around.” He ran his hands through his hair, gripping the green locks at the back of his neck as he continued. “I knew what I was supposed to do, okay? I knew exactly who I was and what I wanted.” His eyes became frantic, like he was talking to himself. “Become the world’s greatest swordsman. See Luffy become King of the Pirates. Every decision, every thought, geared towards that end.”
“But you showed up, y/n,” he repeated a third time, this time a bit softer. He paused for a long moment and the air seemed to crackle with energy. His gray eyes found yours and you had never seen him so vulnerable.
“It terrifies me what I would do for you.” He finally said, so quiet it was almost a whisper. “I might abandon it all. For you.”
Tears welled up in your eyes and you reached out to him, cupping his face in one hand. “Zoro,” You said gently. “Never. You’ll never need to abandon it all. Ever.”
He swallowed hard.
“Every decision I make, every thought I have,” you continued, repeating his words from earlier, “It’s all for you and for Luffy.”
He leaned unconsciously into your palm.
You kissed the corner of his mouth and whispered, “To abandon yourself, is to abandon me. So stay.”
He drew a shuddering breath and gathered you into his arms. If could speak, he would have thanked you. He would have thanked you for giving him the permission to remain who he was, to not judge or expect anything more or less.
But for now, he would have to accept this–an intimate embrace in a back alley of a forgotten town on a forgotten island. And his fear began to melt.

not to get ahead of myself but thinking abt future opla zolu made me a little emotional bc depending on how many seasons the show manages to get, there's high chances of seeing so many of luffy and zoro's moments. and the thing is - there's a lot of them? their relationship is built upon all these moments and interactions, some small, some big, some when they're not even together but still end up referencing or mirroring one another in some way. it's just so good. I can remember more than few off the top of my head in alabasta, jaya, skypiea, water 7/enies lobby, thriller bark, sabaody etc and that's just pre-timeskip. opla has so much potential to go absolutely bonkers with these two I'm unwell

I’m A Ghost Of You, You’re A Ghost Of Me Pt. 4
Pairing: Roronoa Zoro x reader
Content: strawhat reader, gender neutral reader, drinking in a bar, one mention of virginity (in a jokey way), mainly just reader and zoro talking, brief mention of fighting/canon typical violence, a tiny bit angsty, hurt/comfort
Word Count: 1.3k
A/N: this part is kind of like reader and zoro’s first date! just a lot of talking and some angsty feelings about failure :/ but with comfort! also i’ve never been to a bar or drank a ton (im 19) so im sorry if the descriptions of alcohol are inaccurate (but also zoro canonically drinks an insane amount without actually getting drunk so idk.) also im not really sure where i want the series to go from here so… leave suggestions? anyway, enjoy! <3
Part 3
Reverse Mountain and the encounter with Laboon served to bring you closer to your new crew in a matter of hours. Though you were the last to join in the East Blue, it felt like you’d already known them all a lifetime. Your place on the crew comes naturally to you as you work in tandem with the others to overcome these obstacles.
After the long day and several brushes with death, the Straw Hats arrive to an island called Whiskey Peak. The inhabitants, surprisingly, seem enthralled with your arrival. They welcome you all with open arms and invite the crew to free drinks and a night of fun at one of their bars. It’s a little suspicious to some, but you (being on the more naive and fresh side) see nothing wrong with it. And so, you all happily go along with their invitation.
Which is how you found yourself here: sitting on a barstool with a line of shot glasses before you.
“Gonna drink all that yourself?”
You look up and smile at the voice- Roronoa Zoro. “Nope, it’s for you.”
He sits besides you, “2… 8… You got me 10 shots?”
“I wasn’t sure what you drink. Besides, I said I’d treat you.”
You tell him what each drink is, he picks out 5, then slides the rest toward you. “Drink up, y/n.”
“Oh.. I, uh… I don’t really drink.” Especially not 5 shots at once, at that.
Zoro shrugs, “‘s your tab.”
You watch as he downs all 5 of the drinks he’s chosen, eyes wide in surprise that he was able to do so by the end. Then, he looks at you expectantly. Steeling yourself for what’s to come, you nod with a sense of duty and face your 5 shots. “Here goes nothing.”
The first burns a little, but it’s nothing you can’t handle (despite the look of disgust on your face.) The second has you coughing- only because you took it right after the first, of course. Zoro barks out a laugh and pats your back. You wave him off, “I’m fine, I’m fine…” and pick up the third. Still chuckling, he grabs your wrist (with the hand that isn’t rubbing your back in circles) and lowers it down to the table.
“I was kidding, don’t drink more than you can handle. Takes out all the fun.” He proceeds to down the 3 remaining shots, completely disregarding his previous statement.
“Well, you sure make it look easy.” The annoyance in your voice is evident.
“I’ve got a high tolerance. But you,” His arm is now resting on the back of your seat, and you feel a finger poke you square in the back. “are a lightweight.”
“I- hey! I am not a lightweight. Taking 8 shots just like that isn’t normal, you know.”
“Yeah, I’m better than normal.”
A soft smile spreads across your features. “You sure about that, Zoro?”
“Wh- Of course I’m sure. Why, you don’t think I am?”
You shrug, feigning nonchalance in order to mess with him. “I don’t know… that guy over there just finished his 12th drink of the night, sooo…”
“What guy? You’re kidding, I swear-“
Laughter erupts from your chest, similar to his own fit when you struggled to down the 2nd of your 2 drinks.
“Oh. Ha-ha, real funny y/n.”
“God, you’re so easy to mess with! What happened to the stoic swordsman I met on the beach last year?”
He shrugs, “Same guy.”
“Hm…” You’ve noticed that he seems to get a little defensive when you bring up that night. “Why don’t you want to talk about that night?”
“There’s nothing to talk about.”
“Zoro. C’mon, you can talk to me… We’re crew mates, right?”
He doesn’t say anything for a few moments; just looks down at the bar. “I failed. Plain and simple.”
“Oh…. because you didn’t bring me back to my island?”
“Yep.”
“I don’t think that’s the same as failure, you chose to-“
“You don’t get it, y/n. I couldn’t force you to go back. I wanted to, I was going to, but I couldn’t.”
“…Not to toot your horn, Zoro, but you’re plenty strong. I would’ve put up a good fight, but I’m not sure I would’ve won-“ You pat your arrow quiver, “especially not at such a close distance.”
“No. I really couldn’t.” Frustration begins to seep into his tone. “I couldn't find the- the strength or resolve. And I still don’t know why, but if things hadn’t just worked out in the end like they did…”
“But, they did, Zoro. And, I still don’t really understand what you mean, but just because you go against orders doesn’t mean you’re a failure or anything like that. You’re your own person.”
“I’m my own person who wants to fulfill my duties.”
“Even if it meant doing the wrong thing?”
“… I have my limits.”
“So then why are you beating yourself up over one task you didn’t carry out, especially one that wasn’t morally right? I’m biased, of course, but still…”
“’Cause I didn’t see anything wrong with it. But I just couldn't do it. I couldn’t have done anything that night if I’d wanted to- it’s like I was…” he trails off, shaking his head instead of finishing his sentence.
“Like you were what?”
Zoro shrugs. “Stunned.” If he were more of a romantic in his manner of speaking, he would’ve added something along the lines of “by you; by your smile and the way you move.”
“Hm. Well, for what it’s worth, I’m glad that you were. Or else I’d still be kicking it in a boring old house with boring people.”
He exhales sharply in a dry laugh. “Hmph. My pleasure.”
The rest of the night, which both of you seem to have forgotten is technically your first date, goes by in a flash. Zoro has another bottle and a half of sake, which you pay for while wondering how one person can drink so much and not seem inebriated. Soon enough, most everyone in the bar is knocked out- save for you, Zoro, the bartender, and a few stragglers.
“You haven’t had anything to drink all night.” He observes.
“Those shots were more than enough.”
Zoro shakes his head and waves over the bartender. “What’s your drink?”
You smile bashfully. “A shirley temple, please.”
He pays for your drink and the bartender whips it up in no time. “I thought I was supposed to be buying your drinks tonight.”
“You bought me 10 shots, then 2 bottles of sake; I won’t take offense. And, this non alcoholic garbage is cheap.”
“It is not garbage.”
“Fine, it’s just a kid’s drink.”
“It’s not for kids! It’s virgin.”
“Oh yeah?” He chuckles, then mumbles under his breath. “Bet you’d know a lot about that.”
You shove his shoulder with a scandalized gasp. “Zoro!”
He laughs once more, loud and bright and so full of joy that you can’t help but giggle along with him.

Some hurt/comfort straw hats fic idea; Luffy doesn't really like he's being called dumb, it wasn't his fault his brain hurts everytime he does try to think (his brain's made of rubber... and you know how the brain works...).
So he tests his limits, and is now often bleeding from his nose; which he luckily has a red cardigan to wipe with (LuCKYYY)
Not until he fucking passes out from bloodloss (mind you he's been less cheery as well)
And then the Straw hats find out because Chopper's their medical genius (and Chopper's the sweet doctor who will be mad at the crew for a tiny bit

It had only been a few short moments, but the pain felt like an eternity. Zoro had never endured so much agony before: inescapable, all-devouring pain. Probably worse than anything else he will encounter again. He wasn't sure if his body could survive it. The pain of Luffy's whole fight, condensed into one moment. It still haunted him, the pain in his beaten and immobile body was just a soft echo compared what he had endured.
And he would do it again and again for his captain, his crew. His family. He swore to himself that he would not falter and be a burden to them, but the memory pushed forward relentlessly.
The first one to find him on the battlefield was Sanji. Never before would Zoro have thought that the sight of this unnerving, love-sick cook would be such a comfort - but it was. The comrade that fought alongside him all the time, the last one standing with him. He would never say that, but he admired and respected the man.
As Zoro lay there, keeping the memories and the pain down, he heard soft footsteps, footsteps that made the hair on his neck rise - a short moment of surprise that shot hot, searing pain through his body again.
His vision went blank and he hardly realised that his body was moved. There was only pain that made him want to pass out for good, but he held on, not giving in.
Something cold and wet moved over his face, the sensation felt cooling, distracted him from the agony. Strong arms stabilized his cramping body, propped his upper body up on something soft. It allowed him the control to let go, to push the pain to the back of his mind again.
As his vision returned slowly, Zoro only saw a swirl. He focused on it, following it's elegant arch down to a clear, blue eye, squinting at him.
"You ok?" Sanjis breathless voice asked.
"Of....of course" Zoro stammered, slowly realising what was going on. As his field of vision widened, his attention was fixed on the face of his crewmate before him. Noticing the even, light skin and noble features for what felt like the first time. Without wanting it, his mouth curl into a smile.
Sanjis eyes widened and the faintest blush crept onto his cheeks.
"Don't scare me like that again" Sanji looked away shyly. "I thought you would die now!" He continued to tap a damp cloth to Zoro's forehead cautiously.
"don't you dare going out like that." The cook's voice shook.
"I won't" Zoro said. "As long as you promise you won't either"
Sanji snorted.
"I am not as reckless as you are."
"So we have a deal" Zoro managed a lopsided grin.
No matter how annoying or how stupid he thought the cook was, the man was strong and dependable. Zoro didn't have the strenght to keep up the facade now, so instead, he gathered all his willpower to move his hand up to hold on to Sanji's arm. It lay aroud Zoro's torso, holding him in place on the cook's lap.
Zoro told himself that he only needed that kind of comfort because of his current condition, but it felt a bit too good for that.
Fuck it, he thought. I deserve this now.
He squeezed the muscles of Sanji's arm slowly, earning a gasp from the the cook as he froze completely.
I deserve this now, Zoro repeated in his head. He suddenly felt selfish and greedy, hungry for more. He closed his eyes to bathe in the first good sensation in what felt like an eternity.
Sanji's arm held him tighter, the faintest hint of a hug, Zoro interpreted it as a clear sign, turning his head to nuzzle against his companion's body. With the strain of ordeal gone for even a few moments, exhaustion crushed Zoro, sending his mind to restless dreams.
___
Sanji didn't know what to do. Here he sat, again having a big, beefy man cradled in his lap - that made his heart almost jumped out of his chest. A big, calloused hand squeezed his arm and all he could do was hold him tight in return.
He was too proud to put it into words, but it felt appealing. It felt good to provide comfort and warmth to his crewmate. Sanji couldn't be there for him when he fought, he sure as hell would be there for him now.
A soft snore told him that Zoro had fallen asleep, getting the rest he needed.
Content, he relaxed, too. The situation was far too much for him with Zoro seeing the reaction of his body. Now, he was alone with his feelings again, free to explore the intriguing swordsman with his eyes, to feel his presence. He swore to himself - only a little longer, than he would get up and go to his own bed. Just a few moments of warmth more. And one more.
__________
I fear I am not very good at stretching out moments or describing sensations, but I guess it's good to try something new once in a while. I hope you enjoyed it anyways.
The next part to this little zosan drabble will be day 10 - drunk confession
Tomorrow will come another tropetember story - this time with Smoker in a café!
