Unpopular Opinion time
Way back in the ancient days of Usenet forums and such (1998 C.E.), I had the opportunity to meet Z. Budapest. She was playing fast and loose with bad archeology to support her positions that changed like a weather cock except that men were the source of evil and oppression. She was promoting matriarchy and the oppression of men. I, at a young 17 years on this earth, couldn’t stand her gas lighting her followers, her verbal abuse of many of them when they refused to tow the company line, and her out right lies to uplift herself into a position of power. Her use of cult tactics was obvious.
I called her out on it all. I repeatedly demanded citation of sources of what ever ‘fact’ she flung out to support her argument. When she refused saying it was “beneath” her to do such thing, I would go and find the academic paper (quite often with a woman in the lead on the research) that refuted her fact. I was making a point to challenge one of the leading figures of the Witchcraft community. I got called a ‘conservative christian plant’, i got called a number of unsavory things that I’m not going to post here because she was creative in her insults as she was in her lies. Eventually, other people began questioning her and she couldn’t handle it. She started going on about how she was their ‘mother’ and they ‘owed her respect’.
When things hit that point, I simply said, “I give respect to those who respect me.” That’s about when she hit the roof and went on a tirade about how I was a traitor to women kind. The next day I was banned from her usenet chat group. I believe she may be talking smack about me this day because I made a point of directly challenging her and refusing to kiss the ring for forgiveness of my audacity to critically think about what she was spouting.
Next time y’all call Z. Budapest your hero, I will regard you with suspicion. I will regard your claims of being a feminist with suspicion. Yes, she wrote a women-focused book of magic. If you want feminism in your witchcraft, look at Starhawk. She owns her errors and does her best to improve upon them. She’s not a straight up misogynist looking to build a cult.

In self-blessing, you affirm the divine you. Self-blessing is very important for women, because too many of us have internalized our own oppression. It is important for us to change the influences working in our deep minds. Religion controls inner space; inner space controls outer space. If a woman internalizes her oppression and thinks she is inferior, or unclean when she menstruates, she internalizes a policeman. She will then act accordingly. She will not need to be policed by the actual oppressors because she will have assimilated their values, and she will police herself. The easiest and most efficient way for small numbers to oppress large numbers of people is to sell them a religion. If that religion is embraced by the majority of people, they will police themselves and act according to a value system that actually oppresses them. But they have internalized it, so they have lost. This is what so many women have done in patriarchy. Self-blessing rituals are a way of exorcising the patriarchal policeman, cleansing the deep mind, and filling it with positive images of the strength and beauty of women.

Top Movies I Watched in 2023 (Not Of)
SPOILERS!
7. One Piece: Film Z (Sub) - 6.5/10
This is the only One Piece film I recall seeing. It was alright, Sanji belongs in jail, and fucking loved and sobbed at the ending. I'm not even joking when I say, anytime I hear Ocean Guide, I cry.
Just the scene of Zephy/Z fighting the Marines as the music soars! One that marine cried for his sensei's death! AAAAAHHHH! When Kuzan told Z's last crew members not to cry, because he died doing what wanted/believed in!
WHEN THE FLASHBACK SHOWED ZEPHYR AS A CHILD CALLING HIMSELF THE HERO OF JUSTICE! Z!
AND THE FUCKING FILM ENDS WITH THE SOUND OF HIS MECHANICAL ARM AND IT SAYING THE FILM'S NAME!
I am crying as I write this!
Though I don't care for most of the film, the ending is fucking perfect and I refuse to debate it.
That's it, done, end of discussion. Sanji seriously belongs in Jail and I pray for the live-action actor to not get as shafted by his character.
6. Godzilla Minus One - 7/10
I was like that DiCaprio meme every time an actor I recognized appeared.
I know how fucked up it is, but I sincerely wanted the MC to die. I did, I was hoping for it, and when that one survivor guy was constantly giving him shit and even reminded him about his own failure to attack Godzilla (understandable), I was ready. But nah, the camera back up after the guy said, "and one thing."
I was disappointed. I'm fine if he survivors, but not his no-wife. She was literally blown back by Godzilla's nuke beam. Great scene as well.
I also loved the music and the scene where the men who fought Godzilla saluted his death. That was great.
I did not care for the sequel bait.
5. Baragaki: Unbroken Samurai - 7/10
I waited a year or so to watch this, I enjoyed it. I love Ryosuke Yamada as Okita Souji. I was really fucking surprised to see Murakami Nijiro in this, I didn't know he was.
This is yet another example of me knowing how they die, but still being upset at their deaths.
4. The Menu (2022) - 7/10
3. Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 3 - 7/10
James Gunn made me believe that the MCU was back, it wasn't, but he did make me believe it.
2. The Grand Budapest Hotel - 8/10
1. Redline (Dub) - 8/10
If I had not heard the song, "And it's so beautiful," I likely would not have seen REDLINE.
I am glad I did.
Redline crushed me with it's ending.

since dune part two came out i have been watching all the cast interviews because people online swear on their mama that timmy, zendaya, austin and florence “despise” one another.
are we watching the same interviews?? i just watched the one where florence and austin are playing around with kittens and apparently they lived together while filming?? (not sure if this included zendaya & timmy). austin talks about how florence was great at getting him “out of the house”, taking him on hikes/walks with her, how she would come back home to ask him if he’s left the house at all, and she took him to try out hot thermal tubs. florence mentions how it’s so important to take care of yourself and your mental health while working on a huge project. i beg your finest pardon??!! if you don’t like someone you definitely don’t lookout for their mental wellbeing. also, at one of the premieres austin was being affectionate towards florence? he held her hand when there really wasn’t a need to other than he wanted to hold her hand??!! florence talks about how after Elvis came out the two of them hung out in budapest and ate pastries!!
zendaya helped timmy set up his apartment in new york a few years ago. she took him shopping because his style was very “teenage boy.” she said let’s find you a home lmao. timmy calling her “Z” in all their interviews??? i’m sorry but that’s bestie level stuff. the banter between timmy & austin?? they just bounce off of each other’s energy. zendaya saying she wants dune 3 so she can work with florence again, how she wants to cook with her and just have florence all to herself??!!!
idk what all these “body language experts” are smoking because i’m seeing something completely different.

Z. Budapest & Filianism
Way back in the dark ages of the internet when there was dial up modems that screamed at each other and Usenet boards where people screamed at each other, I was part of a forum that was run, in part, by Z. Budapest. Ms. Budapest and I did not get on very well. She was quite offended that I didn't respect my elders. My reply to that was she was under the age of 80 and didn't qualify as an elder. That pretty much set the tone for exchanges between her and I. I was characterized as an upstart neonate (never mind the fact that I too was a fully trained and educated witch at the time) and she was the long suffering elder. (One may ask how this relates to anything involving Filianism. I'll get to that in a moment.)
When she started in with bad archeology and insisting things were true by her fiat instead of logic, I popped up like a mushroom after a rainstorm and simply asked her to cite her evidence. People tried shouting me down, attempted to humiliate me, and at one point accused me of being a ultra conservative Christian mole.
One day in the midst of actually citing sources as evidence of her brilliance and my worthlessness, she spoke of the Madrians in England. She spoke highly of them and how their encouragement lead to her writing her book. Z. Budapest was in contact with the Madrian community for a brief period of time. One must logically say there was a sharing of ideas and similar things during their correspondence.
In the end, having read both the works of the Madrians and the works of Z. Budapest (and actually interacted with Ms. Budapest), there is a lot of parallels between them. I would dare go so far as to say that Z. Budapest was inspired by the Madrian community and was attempting to form a community of her own.
So, my friends who say that Filianism/Déanism is not 'Dianic' enough, go back to Z. Budapest's works. You'll find what you need there. I caution you, however. Z. Budapest is not a nice and kindly elder willing to teach but rather a would be autocrat who wants her people to follow her every word. (Let us not forget her threats to sue people for reasons like being masculine and singing the goddess chant.)

just watched the first part of the Beckham documentary and the parallels between David and Victoria's early relationship with that of TZ's are so??? 😭
young David and Tom: both into luxury watches and cars
young Posh and Z: both don't care about the sports their men are obsessed with
David first saw Posh in a music video // Tom first saw Z in a Snapchat video
David's and Posh's managers were kinda against them being together // Amy Pascal literally told Tom and Z not to date
both couples were at the early stages of their respective superstardom when they met and fell in love
both couples tried to keep their respective relationships secret until they were caught by paps
both couples (and their families) vehemently denied the relationship at first insisting they were just "close friends"
the first pap pics that proved their relationships true were taken in front of their respective houses
David gifted Posh a Cartier watch!!! // Tom gifted Z a Cartier watch!!!!! (and that's one of the things that got fans to start piecing everything together for both)
both men losing their minds whenever they're separated from their women because of work ("David struggled, always, when he was away from Victoria for long periods." // "Holland takes a deep breath and shakes it all off: the distance from his girlfriend, the frustrating reviews, the multibillion-dollar expectations resting on his wiry shoulders.")
BONUS:
David driving hours to see Posh for 20 minutes or flying over to where she was on tour to be with her for a day // Tom going to Rome, Budapest, Monaco or Paris or wherever the hell Z was filming to do the same thing
LMFAO they couldn't be more different in the way they've dealt with their power couple status after they were outed, but the similarities are still so funny to me like whenever Posh and Becks' early years were discussed in the docu I was like 'wait I've HEARD this before...' i'm literally this meme the whole time:
