3. March 2024: Two new Maiko debuted in Yuzawa yesterday! Their names are Shizuno (first picture either 史津乃 or just with Hiragana しづの), and Fumika (風實華). According to Shizuno's facebook page, she is working for the Yunohana Geigi since September 2023.
Shizuno's Kuromontsuki has a pine and bamboo motif. Fumika's has plum and cherry blossoms (wish there were pictures to see their Hikizuri better...).
Congratulations to your debuts, Shizuno and Fumika!
According to a private facebook group, which has been cited on Tsurukomaiko, two new Maiko are going to debut in Yuzawa this March.
I presume it's the two girls wearing pink and purple in this group picture. It's also a nice overview of who's currently working as Geiko/Maiko in Yuzawa.

Navigating the vibrant streets of Yokohamabashi Shotengai, my lens led me to a captivating path connecting Odori-Koen Park and Bandobashi Station. Thirty traditional Japanese paintings adorned this path, their brilliance amplified by backlit acrylic panels mounted on wooden frames.
Originating from Yuzawa in Akita Prefecture, these artworks are central to Yuzawa's Tanabata Picture Lantern Festival, a tradition spanning 300 years.
This exhibition is a collaboration between Yuzawa and the Eastern Yokohama Revitalization Association. With hopes of becoming a December tradition, the event aims to bring warmth to winter nights while highlighting Yuzawa's cultural vibrancy and culinary delights.
