Felice and Wilhelm's text conversation
Since the subtitles only translated the highlights of the text conversation between Felice and Wilhelm in S2E2, I was gonna add it to my Subtext and Culture post, but it's rather long, so I had to break it out into its own post.

Throw back to the young royals translation. The Netflix official title of the show in Chinese language directly translated to “The Crown Prince's choice/王储的抉择”, and I can't stop thinking how fitting it is after watching the series finale. Wilhelm made a choice, he chose himself, he chose the life he wants to live, and he chose the love of his life.

The love Wille's parents gave him was always conditional
Today I decided to make myself sad by overanalyzing the series so let's talk about the differential treatment that Wille and Erik's parents always had with their children
For me since s1 it was always quite obvious that Erik was the favorite child and Wille was treated as "the problem child."
The love that his parents gave him WAS ALWAYS CONDITIONAL, they only gave him love when he did what they asked of him and they treated him horribly when he did something that they (especially the queen) did not agree with. Erik was probably the one who always did what they asked of him and since he was the one who best fit the role of prince, it is most likely that he was the one who received the most affection and attention from his parents while with Wille it was the opposite.
Wille has always behaved like the typical boy whose parents only pay attention to him either when he does what they ask or when he does something "bad", otherwise they ignored him and that is why I think he clung so much to Erik.
Erik probably wasn't the perfect older brother that Wille said he was (we know he wasn't a good person either) but he was probably the only person in that whole family who gave Wille that minimum of affection that Wille needed and that's why he developed such a strong attachment towards him and that is why he idealized him so much.

This line from Simon's song BREAKS my heart because their relationship was rewritten so many times by other people and how every single time it was such a far-fetched and dehumanizing rendition of the beautiful bond they actually share with each other.
When the video leaked back in S1, the internet and the tabloids just disregarded it as a "scandal" or a "sexy hook-up", completely annihilating the tenderness of the morning they shared together.
When Wille denied that it was him in the video, the Royal Court distanced Wilhelm from their relationship("I have chosen not to get involve in any emotional relationships"), again rewriting their relationship as if it's non-existent, leaving Simon to deal with the aftermath.
And how Wilhelm reclaimed the narrative of their relationship through his admission at the end of S2("It was me in the video that was leaked last term, the one with me and Simon. It was a moment that I didn't wanted to share with anyone else, so I lied about it") and how truly no one can rewrite what they were.

RSA dorm concepts
Inspired by this post by Miss Raven!
Speculum - A dorm based on the pragmatism of the Lost Girl
Ujasiri - A dorm based on the courage of the Runaway Heir
Enaskota - A dorm based on the curiosity of the Mermaid Princess
Tigrabah - A dorm based on the wit of the Clever Thief
Wisbene - A dorm based on the kindness of the Fairest One
Viules - A dorm based on the determination of the Demigod Hero
Spheara - A dorm based on the optimism of the Sleeping Beauty
Notes:
Speculum means 'looking glass' in Latin, and is a reference to the movie Alice Through the Looking Glass.
I couldn't think of a good mashup of words to parallel Savanaclaw, so I used Ujasiri, which is a Swahili word that translates to courage or bravery.
Enas is one and skotadi is darkness in Greek, and I combined the words to make enaskota which roughly translates to 'a darkness'. I did this to parallel Octavinelle. The octo in Octavinelle means 8 in Greek, and nelle is a name that means light with Greek, Latin, and Arabic roots (according to the naming website I found it from). Also, I wanted to name the Mermaid princess' dorm 'Dinglehopper' so bad-
Scarabia's name is a combination of the words 'Scarab' which alludes to a Golden Scarab Beetle used by Jafar to find the Cave of Wonders, and 'Arabia' the location Aladdin use as a loose foundation for its setting. So I decided to use the word 'tiger' in honor of Rajah, Jasmine's pet, and the last end of Agrabah which is the central location of the animated film Aladdin.
Bene means well in Italian, the well where water is kept. The Wis- in front of it is just the English word wish without an 'h'. This is a reference to "I'm wishing", the first song in the animated film Snow White where she sings by a wishing well. I decided to go with this mashup of words since the pome in Pomefiore is actually an English word for a fruit consisting of a fleshy enlarged receptacle and a tough central core containing the seeds, e.g. an apple, and fiore means flower in Italian.
The first part of Ignihyde may refer to ignis, the Latin word for 'fire', and '-hyde' vaguely resembles how the name Hades is spelled. So I combined 'Vi' which means strength in Latin, and the 'ules' in Hercules.
Google translate claims 'spheara' means spinning wheel in Latin, but searching up the word only brings up ball and globe so...

So I don’t know if this is something that’s been talked about on here or not (I still feel very new to the young royals tumblr discourse) and i’m also unsure if this will be of interest to many, but the two links above are of youtube videos where a Swedish teacher reacts to the first season of Young Royals - and more specifically dives into aspects of the English translation that (at times) greatly changes the meaning of what the characters have said! It’s extremely interesting to hear about how the word choice can hold a different meaning in the context of Swedish culture and it deepened my appreciation of many interactions between characters. Thought i’d share w you all & I hope some of you will give it a watch if you haven’t already <3
