Taking off my headphones on the train BC I need to charge up on hearing people speaking sächsisch around me while I still can 😌
#it's a beautiful dialect you're all just wrong and incredibly predjudiced#you've never heard an old woman lovingly refer to you as Küken in a heavy Leipzig accent and truly I'm so sorry for that 😔#it should be considered a human right BC it's actually incradibly healing#Helgard my dear I miss you so much you mean so much to me <3 my choir grandma :)#or had your beloved flatmate unwillingly break out into a bit more erzgebirgisch than usual while talking about Christmas#or one of the leftist forest camps she went to or politics in general#I'm so sad that she's not more confident in speaking in her dialect like I understand why like she doesn't want to deal with all the stigma#that is attatched to that dialect but 😔 dialect beautiful why you no speak?#plus like that stigma is not going to change unless reasonable people stick to their precious dialects#it pains me to say it but bavaria really is extremely rigjt about the way everyone there speaks dialect and it's not looked down upon#like people talk shit about other dialects but still#like the only professors I've ever had who spoke in a stronger regional accent were almost all from Bavaria#except one who was from Vienna#and one incredibly wonderful person at the linguistics department who is from the Erzgebirge and the bravest person there is#and I mean did people constantly complain about not being able to understand the Bavarian/Austrian professors?#yeah sure but like learn bitch <3#also like ideally you'd move to an area and then learn to speak the local dialect and switch to that but I fear that's wishful thinking 😔
