i do want to be clear that when i talk about dios and make a distinction between him and akio, it's not because i think they're different people; they're obviously not, if anything they're the same person at different points in time. however, dios is uniquely distinct in what he represents symbolically, conceptually, and thematically. dios is the facade and the akio is the reality of the violence upholding and maintaining it. dios wasn't some kind of perfect person, brother, prince, and/or saint until akio became "corrupted" and "evil." he's a symbol, a statue, an unattainable ideal, a hollow promise. he's the illusory standard that looms over the world.
