Am l the fist to ask, did you see where GMMTV is doing a remake of Cherry Magic, with ...
Tay Tawan and New Thitipoom
... if you can believe that ?
I just crafted a massive thoughtful response to this and crashed Tumblr's editor, I really HATE their new editor. I have to remember to save as a draft so it switches to the old one that's so much more stable.
TayNew & Cherry Magic
Anygay, the upshot was: I saw it in GMMTV’s line up and this casting worries (but does not surprise) me. I'd prefer it if with TayNew they had reversed the dynamic (had Tay play the uke) since I think Tay is better at physical comedy and New is better at reserved pining.
I offered up other GMMTV pair options (JimmySea, EarthMix, JoonDunk?) that might be better options for these particular characters, and that I think Wabi Sabi and OhmFluke might have been the superio choice. Although I understand that it’s GMMTV who can afford to adapt.
I think the Parks could do it for Korea.
And the See You After Quarantine? boys for Taiwan.
I like watching multiple adaptations and remakes. Love Stage!! is a trip (I did the manga, anime, live action yaoi from Japan, and then Thailand’s BL). So is Fated to Love You - I highly recommend that journey if you are someone interested in romance as a live action genre, your watch order is: Taiwan, Korea, Thailand, Japan, China. It’s truly an experience to get to see all the different countries takes on the same content. Each one is so much itself about it. Believe it or not, China is actually my favorite version.

The mousy and unassertive admin assistant, Chen Jia Xin meets the handsome, educated, and charming Wang Xi Yi heir to a large toiletries conglomerate. Mistaken identities serve to complicate their impromptu one-night stand, which ensures further contact, once back on land. Family pressures arise from the pregnancy that has Jia Xin agreeing to contract marriage with a divorce clause. The child once born, will remain with Xi Yi, who will marry the woman he loves, dancer, and long-time girlfriend, Shi Anna. Meddling and miscommunication lead to a tragic event. I got the wonderful opportunity to see Labyrinth on the big screen last week (thank you Fathom Events) and I think this time around really helped me nail down one of the things that makes this movie so special to me: the ending message.
A story with a somewhat childish sixteen-year-old girl who immerses herself in magic and fantasy worlds who goes through a journey and a transformation and comes out the other side more mature could very easily have ended with the message of "Now that the adventure in the fantasy world is over, our heroine has grown and matured enough to leave magic and fantasy behind and become an Adult."
But Labyrinth doesn't do that.
Labyrinth says: "You might grow up a little. You might put away your costumes and your music box and your crown. You might give your teddy bear to your little brother. But that doesn't mean you have to leave it all behind. Every so often in your life, for no reason at all, you might need a little magic back in your life. And your friends in the fantasy world will always be there for you."
"Should you need them."
