Entry

Your body should now be in a straight line from your head to your heels.
  Maintaining the Pose
Once you are in the pose, try to relax your body and breathe deeply. You may want to keep your eyes closed to help you focus. Hold the pose for as long as you are comfortable, and then slowly lower yourself back down to the mat.
Exit
To exit the pose, slowly bend your knees and lower your hips down to the mat. Once your hips are on the mat, gently lower your legs down.

Some common mistakes to avoid when doing Sirshasana include:
1. Not warming up properly
2. Not using a yoga mat
3.Lifting your head up too high

Starting off 2020 with a favorite and a personal breakthrough. 💙 I’ve never brought both feet all the way to my head totally unsupported before. (Swipe left for my favorite unsupported pic) Granted, I’d never thought to try. I was playing around with a new transition the other day and got close, so I wanted to revisit it. What makes the top pose ‘passive’? It’s the push with my arms to open up my front body that makes it passive. My legs are still quite active, but not as engaged as the bottom photo. I need more contraction to make the foot to head connection because my head doesn’t go back as far without the support. My body is stronger - I’m more open and move with control since I started doing mobility drills regularly. My partnership with @themobilitymanifesto has been an incredible education for me. Our Yoga Edition and YogaMoPedia programs are changing the game and I’m so proud of what we’re doing. 2019 was a year of cultivating relationships - creating, sharing, traveling. 2020 will be a year of nurturing and growing those relationships. In addition to improving and expanding on existing mobility programs, there will be trainings and workshops. Retreats are happening as well. So much good stuff.
