Antler Queen Nat recontextualizes the beehive/queen bee scene with Lottienat really interestingly. It stops being as explicitly a threatening power play between Lottie and Nat and instead becomes Lottie trying, in some way, to root out and somehow soothe the part of Nat that is still raw and self-loathing from the part she played in the wilderness. What they did in the wilderness was natural in its own way, a response to profound deprivation; and otherwise, as she says, they would have starved. As her own hallucination asks later on, does a hunt that has no violence feed anyone?
