AAAAHHHHH!! CONSIDER MY SHIT FLIPPED!! THE BLACK BUTLER LIVES! What are your thoughts on the new art style?
BRO I'm with you, flipped like that pancake I managed to throw half out the pan😩 I still can't believe. best Monday every fr.
and ooo thanks for the question, I wanna hear your thoughts after this👀 I've already said a little bit about this in the tags of some other posts, as well as touched on it in my master post of the crew, but I suppose I may give a big final answer(for now, from this teaser).
judging the art alone, not the fact that we get a new anime or anything exciting like that, just the art alone... it's very pretty!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
yea this is very pretty. the kid looks great, small and good, and his hair looks feathery and neat, so I approve. I think they nailed his general proportions, I think they'll do a great job at keeping them consistent during episodes! the image to the right does looks a tiny bit like a 3d asset, which is a bit jarring compared to the previous anime style, but I'm flexible towards this change. even if he looks like a video game cutscene character, I usually love cutscenes!!
but here's the drama I'm sure you're here for. yes, unfortunately, there are some wee things that I don't love as much🤏
the first thing, it really doesn't matter and I should shut up about it now... but YOU asked so ajdjfksksk why did they have to shrink sebs jaw cmon my favorite art of him ever was during the Greenwitch arc so don't tell me I'll NEVER be able to see that style of him animated😫 I just like prominent features man. I know he's meant to be pretty but but but....
ah okay. heres the main thing that I think most people may agree with.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
these are two screenies of sebster from the teaser. honestly, as ☆luxurious☆ as his lashes are, I'm not a fan of the left image. the airbrush on his hair feels a tad overdone. I love the attention to detail, especially in the one on the right, it shows a lot of love! but there's just something about it that's a bit off for me.
and I think after 24 hours I've finally figured it out: it's the colors.
the realization started to hit me when I saw my favorite edit so far here by @ashxketchum. the colors have been edited to be much more saturated and warm. and I think this is exactly what is missing here.
I even tried my own hand at it, and yea personally, I think slapping a saturation, tint, and just a BIT of contrast on the whole thing can do numbers on it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
already I like it(no I'm not just praising my own work, it's not the best edit out there I did it in 30 secs). I think the reason for this is because the background is very rich in contrast and warm tones, so the characters(particularly sebastian who is all black) stand out when they are muddy and low contrast. I love stylistically when contrast is high, but that's just a personal thing, and I shouldn't hold a studio to those standards.
I tried it for the poster too though, which again I felt was a bit off. official art has never been the most top tear, and the poster is GOOD, the background is awesome and the two peeps looks amazing. but my problem with it was clear once I did another color edit.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(edit on the right)
again, I feel like everything was very muted in the left original, not to mention a tad monochromatic. I really think a kick of contrast and hue could do wonders.
BUT. I know that at the end of the day, it's not a big deal. I don't really care. would it make my day or whole year if they slapped a color filter on it, or continued to work on the color grading of the scenes? probably yea! but my opinion isn't obsolete, and most of all, I look forward to and respect the artists decisions.
so no I'm not "fixing" the art😅😒.
and finally, I think this is awesome:
Tumblr media
(I had forgotten but this gif is edited by @kilruas from this post)
GORGEOUS. could it turn some people off cause it's mostly cg? maybe. idc though. gorgeous. gimme some of that beverage.
sorry for the rant, hope it's what you wanted! I think that's everything... I like it 85%!

Hirogaru Sky Final Impressions (5/5)
Tumblr media
Honestly, what were they going to do with those two weeks after 48 episodes? Have us wait until WonPre's broadcast? Yea right, lol
So the 20th installment of Precure is now officially finished and it feels both great and a little bit sad to say that since the bar has been readjusted quite high, we will probably need the 25th anniversary to get another season as awesome and well-written as HiroPre. [/harsh]
But that will be for something to worry about in the next five years.
So first, that finale!
Tumblr media
Pretty much 5(ish) of the 6 last episodes was a whole arc dedicated to the most engaging lore Precure has ever given us to date.
Cure Noble is definitely entering the league of legacy Cures and perhaps as the one with the best story as well. How she went from princess-sovereign to becoming the very first Precure (in this universe, anyways) to helping pave a way for peace with her nemesis to laying out the foundation for the Cures who will succeed her in the future.
Yeap, Ellee-chan may have gotten a nice age-up bonus so that we can see her embrace her destiny and actually converse in something other than baby talk.
But it's more accurate to say that Ellee-chan/Cure Majesty's character arc is really Princess Elleelain/Cure Noble's instead.
Tumblr media
Which is totally fine with me. Not only was Elleelain super interesting as a hero/protagonist in her own era but Kaiserin was...dear god.
Dear god, when have we gotten a twist that was this good and this dark by the series' standards? I felt we haven't touched this level of grim writing since Heartcatch and that was my first Precure season ever.
But seriously, it's impossible not to sympathize with Kaiserin and appreciate how much she contributed to the plot as well as this season's message that power is not what makes a hero, but the strength of one's heart that does.
Even her traitorous tutor, Skearhead, said she had what it took to become a hero (and maybe even Precure? oooh~), which just makes her fall into darkness more tragic.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But thankfully, she never lost her kindness and compassion, which was what ultimately allowed her to not only be saved but her wounds to finally heal after hundreds of years of suffering from the pain of betrayal Skearhead had inflicted on her.
And that her generals, who all turned over a new leaf, came back to the Undergu Empire to loyally serve her and make sure she isn't alone...
Good! This is so satisfying, I couldn't have asked for anything better! Kaiserin deserves her happiness after all she's been through!
Tumblr media
But of course, that's not all because no Precure finale is complete without the last episodes dishing out the best combat scenes of the entire season and did it deliver, alright.
Uh-huh, uh-huh, uh-HUH!
The animation was absolutely stellar and not so overdone that it'd look more gaudy than cool. coughDeliPaPrecough
Moreover, the teamwork is what really sold the animation. As it should because Precure is all about that team effort brought on by personal growth, not a one-man show.
I loved how Wing, representing wisdom, was the one everyone trusted to get that barrier back up because it is a mechanism that he researched and developed to help everyone. It proves that boys don't need to fit into a specific mold of masculinity or genius to be a hero because in the end, those things don't matter. It's being true to yourself, your beliefs and your dreams and what you choose to do with those abilities that counts.
I loved how Butterfly, who is physically the strongest in the group, always takes on the tougher tasks such as facing the army of tedious mooks to let those younger than her forge a path ahead. She never forgets her responsibility as an adult to protect the kids but she also encourages them to move forward because she fully believes in them like a good adult would.
I loved how Majesty comes to understand that though she's meant to inherit Cure Noble's will and power and position as Skyland's princess, it's not her destiny to inherit Elleelain's loneliness. And the whole reason that she started out as a baby but was able to grow and become Precure was because she was surrounded by the right people who brought out that potential in her. For Ellee-chan, being with her friends and fighting alongside them was the bigger, more important destiny than her duty was.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Finally, the star duo of the show.
Sky was given stronger MC vibes than the other cast members but you can't deny that she wouldn't have gotten this far without Prism by her side.
Sora's idea of what it means to be hero expanded a lot because she became friends with Mashiro.
She has come to treasure Mashiro so much that when she was on the brink of losing her best friend, she let Skearhead corrupt her in order to have enough power to save that best friend. She was willing to sacrifice herself for someone important to her, which in a way, can be seen as an act of heroism (but only as a last resort, plz do not attempt).
And even then, Sky kept resisting from being taken over. Prism didn't even flinch when Sky aimed a punch at her. That's how much Mashiro believes in Sora, in the hero that Sora is. That even if Sora accepted darkness into herself to do the right thing, she won't ever let that darkness consume her into doing the wrong thing.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And the fact that it was Prism who had the ability to not only purify Sky but also heal Kaiserin's centuries-old wound. She's come a long way herself from the girl who used to think she was talentless, who didn't believe she had anything special going for her.
"You are good as you are now, Mashiro-san."
What Sora said was true until the very end. Mashiro didn't ever need to change. She was already good enough and she was always going to become even better than how she started out because she was always being inspired and supported by those around her and challenging herself to do things she initially hesitated on doing.
Now she's continually drawing new stories, even winning an award for one. Even her Prism Shot evolved and multiplied as an attack and it's all because she learned to believe in herself because all her friends believed in her.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is essentially what sets Precure apart from the others, what makes it the major name it is in modern day mahou shoujo.
I cannot begin to describe how glad I am that the staff at Toei reinforced those aspects of friendship as well as the celebration of individualism in a milestone year. But I can definitely say with confidence that we can expect to see more well into the franchise's 30th anniversary as long they don't forget these two very crucial things.
Tumblr media
As for me, I think this will be the last time I blog Precure on a "regular" basis.
I'll still continue to watch cuz hey, there's no reason for me to stop yet.
(and all the more reason to not stop if Satoru and Daifuku become the next two male Cures in WonPre OMGI'MSOGONNAJINXTHISAREN'TIBWUAHAHAHAHA!!!)
But my priorities have shifted so I gotta tend to those foremost. And as much as I enjoy the show, I feel like I'm always saying the same stuff over and over again anyway, just in different variations of it.
(also, something about WonPre tells me the next four years will be filled with hit-or-miss seasons so meh, I'd rather just follow it leisurely than get too invested and then disappointed)
On another note, I do have some personal rankings that I'd like to post some day. I was going to do it for the 20th anniversary but didn't have time to cuz life got way too hectic and busy but yea, eventually I'll have them up.
Just for fun, y'know.
Tumblr media
Ok, that is all.
Thank you, my hero girls and boy! You made this season so wonderful hahahaha, good luck, WonPre for me and I can't be grateful enough for it.
Thank you for a beautiful anniversary! Let's aim for the next!
25th year with 100+ Precure!
Let's gooooooooooooo!!!

you know what if making will a villain means that he doesn’t only exist to further the boring corny overdone straight relationship then hey i’m all for it and yea i absolutely will support all of his actions no questions asked. just give him some valuable crucial screentime and a plotline with an arc that actually surrounds and is about him and not other (straight) people please oh my god. i know it’s SUPER hard to write gay people and not revolve everything in their storyline around straight people but it never hurts to try.

LMAO how am I just realizing theres discourse going on about gay portrayal in the sp fandom?? Feel like alot of it boils down to internalize misogyny or just not knowing how to deal with something you personally don't enjoy regardless if it is actually a legitimate problem.
"But if we dont addressed it, itll be problematic to our community."
My dude, if someone wants to make femboy (insert character here), they can. If someone wants to make the opposite, they can.
All this "uh but its so heteronormative" bullshit makes it seem like masc passing and fem passing couples don't exist. Yeah, im not denying that sometimes, people tend to gravitate towards that because it is likely something they grew used to as what works for them- but that doesn't make it outright bad just because it comes off as hetero-passing.
I personally fall under the nonbinary spectrum myself. So for me, rather than depict any sort of gender for these characters, I focus more on personality formation no matter what gender they 'seem' to correlate with.
Except what I needed to understand that is that, for many others, gender identity through expression is important and can you guess what they do with that? Express it through these characters. I may not like the obvious over feminization of characters that feel too ooc, but others DO. Others actually feel this way about themselves and it doesn't repress them.
Yea, I get that it can become problematic when its overdone, but fandom is literally about creating what you like. At the end of the day ppl are entitled to their own opinions ( of course not without consequences cause, well, this is the internet).

I have to get this out, oh lord, (also spoilers warnings for the second season of Alice in borderland) (side note, I’m not proofreading this, it’s just gonna spew out of my mouth, so have fun with my possible typos and poor wording)
The second season of aib has trashed me emotionally, mentally, and somehow physically, It’s been about 6 days since I’ve watched it and oh god, do I have things to say.
For one, I knew what was going to happen in the end, I saw manga spoilers, and somehow it still left me with this aching feeling. The cinematic effect of seeing everyone in the same place before the meteor, and not knowing each other but being connected is such an emotional masterpiece that will NEVER leave my brain.
It left me with a very empty and yearning feeling especially after seeing they all forgot each other and yet somehow still ‘knew’ each other (yea that phrasing is probably poor, sue me)
I’d also like to mention it made me realize things about myself and my life which is was NOT ready for at all. I related heavily to Arisu and I was aware of that, (the thing with Arisu finding his reason in life hit me very hard) but after washing Chishiya’s part play out The realization hit me so, extremely hard, that I am A LOT like him.
I’ve been told most of life that I am not an empathetic person, and can be very selfish. (the empathy thing might just be my autism shining through a bit but yk)
I was mostly aware of this but I didn’t think much of it and mostly was under the impression that is how you have to be, to get anywhere in the world, but after seeing Chishiya actively WANT to understand and change, meant so much to me and made me realize that I definitely don’t have to be this way.
I’ve never had a character effect me in such a raw, heart touching way before, and honestly thinking about makes me feel a little ill.
That stupid little doctor man (also related to the whole Med student thing to an extent so that was fun) has made me think back on how I am/was as a person, and who I want to be and for that I am so grateful to the writers. (especially because of the changes made to Chishiya’s character/backstory, it made you want to be a bit more sympathetic towards him in the show) So, now I’m being thrown on the journey of self discovery, which I’m not necessarily happy about, but I know I needed this regardless.
NOW! Onto more pressing matters, I’m so extremely angry they kept Niragi alive, and even made him and Chishiya be somewhat civil in the end. (I get they don’t have memories, but it still irks me) Also the fact we never got to see Kuina and Chishiya interact at the hospital is criminal.
I love the Arisu/Usagi romance, it’s so sweet and not overdone to the point where it was like annoying to watch. I hate when romance in shows are either to mushy, or slowly become the main point of the show.
Bonus part that I wasn’t gonna talk about, but the name of the show mirroring the “border” between life and death from the meator is genius and I love it.

So I have taken a gander at a few HOTD fics on here. Mostly Aemond because I'm curious as a nonwatcher what kind of characterization people are displaying of a character that is not only central to the current conflict but it also seems is the catalyst of a future conflict. And.
Well. My personal feelings below...
This is about reader inserts and not about OC characters. Reader inserts are generally supposed to be nonspecific regarding the reader because we want the readers to be able to imagine themselves. We want it to be inclusive as possible. So unless it's marketed for a specific kind of reader (black reader, Latino reader, Asian reader, plus sized reader, deaf reader, disabled reader and marked clearly as such) then it shouldn't be specific. No mention of hair or skin or svelte figure.
And I'm not saying there is anything wrong with writing about a specific type. Even if that type is white, blonde, and petite. It's valid if, in my opinion, overdone. But don't write it as a reader insert. It's almost 2023, if you are writing a reader insert, at least try to make it inclusive!
If you want your reader to be related to certain characters, there's a relatively easy way to do that that works in any setting. Adopted child, step child (with the caveat that the reader's parent is not a known character in the fandom). Any fic that I write where I want a familial attachment with a known character, I simply adopt the reader in or create a step family.
(There are reader insert purists who don't describe family situations because it might pull the reader out of the story and while I understand that, I'm personally of the belief that if I'm already believing that I'm in a fictional world, why not give myself a new background.)
As for this particular fandom, as this post is about HOTD, I've seen a lot of people making the reader a Targaryan (or however it's spelled) which is...okay I mean, it's not my cup of tea. While there are canon examples of incest in the show (so much incest) I don't wanna read about committing it myself. Even in a fantasy world. But that's just my opinion! Outside of that, there's the fact that it then requires description. White hair. Purple eyes. Pale skin or dark skin depending on who the parents are. You want to write a story about a black reader getting it on with Aemond? Please do, we need more of those! But tag it as black reader. You wanna write about a white, pale haired reader is getting it on with Aemond? Okay, cool, but list it as that. Let the readers know what they are getting into so they don't get surprised with it in the middle of the story. And also so that the people interested in reading about those kinds of characters can find those stories in particular.
But honestly, it's a fantasy world and you can literally just...create a new family. Insert that family into the story and into the drama. Make up your own family history. Just be like "the reader comes from a well known family, the Puffenwolds. They are enemies of the incestuous dragons." And boom, you have an easy way to keep from having to link your reader to any one family's physical traits.
Idk I just have been very disappointed with some of the HOTD fics I've seen. Because I'm white so yea, I blush, but I don't write about pale skin turning pink so I don't wanna read it either. I'm a bigger girl so I don't wanna read about how someone can lift me with ease. And well yea personally I don't want to read about being a sister/cousin/aunt/relative to the character but that's my preference.
I know that there are things I can do better with my own writing when it comes to being inclusive. But I'm trying and I will always try to do better so that people can enjoy my writing. I want my readers to picture themselves, that's the point of a reader insert.
Okay. Rant over. I'll get off my soapbox and go to bed now.

Spotify Playlist Ship Writing Prompts
Kidge - 27 - Hell of a View by Eric Church
Laughter erupted behind him as he quietly cleared the plates from the table. Matt’s helicopter noises reverberated throughout the house as he did his best to entertain the twins. He really was a wonderful dad. Everyone had been right about that.
Keith took a moment to absorb the quant sight around him. The colors from the outside Christmas lights sparkled through the bay window at the front of the home, illuminating the sparkling decorations tastefully placed on the center of the big dining room table and on corner shelves. Soft music played in the background; some sort of traditional hymns he recognized from department store playlists.
Through the tinseled archway at this back, the family room was brimming with life. Sam was now bouncing one of the boys on his knee while Matt was dancing with the other in the center of the room. V sat on the floor below Matt, quietly shaking her head at her husband while Colleen laughed at her family from the comfort of her oversized armchair, sipping on eggnog that Keith knew was more alcohol than anything else. He’d drink too if he had to deal with the older couple sitting across from her on the couch. Katie’s grandparents were not his biggest fans.
The Christmas tree the Holts had picked was easily the biggest he’d seen inside a home, taking up most of the two story back window and covered in garish decorations. It wasn’t really his style but he’d been told it was ‘tradition’ to make the tree as repulsively overdone as possible. Knowing Katie and her brother, he didn’t question it. The whole thing was right up their alley. Just like the ridiculous homemade Christmas sweaters they’d forced everyone to wear.
He grimaced, trying to adjust the hastily glued on cotton balls lining the collar of his red shirt without knocking anymore off.
“You don’t have to do that.” Katie’s voice cut through the background noise and he jumped, his hand flying away from his collar in a bid to not be caught.
The look on her face said he’d not been successful but thankfully she ignored it, taking the plates from his hands and setting them back on the table.
“Come sit with us. We can clean up later.” She gingerly took his hand, tugging slightly. His heart swelled.
“It’s okay,” he held fast, his thumb running circles against her knuckles, “I don’t mind. Go have fun.”
She gave him a searching look, her eyes darting to catch his before she finally landed on something solid.
“You know,” she stepped towards him, removing the antler headband she’d been sporting all night, “you’re part of his family too. No matter what they imply.” She tossed her head towards her grandparents, rolling her eyes.
He swallowed hard, his free hand coming to rest against her waist.
He wanted to believe her. He really did. But the slightly confrontational tone of the implications her grandmother had been throwing at him all night had him on edge.
“No.” She snapped her fingers in front of his face, making him turn away from the scene in the living room. “None of that. You are family here. No matter what they say. They’re just –” she sighed, waving her free hand in the air as she tried to find the right words.
“Angry?” He offered, a small smile breaking his worried face.
“I guess?” She shrugged. “But it wasn’t your fault I ran away to the Garrison or your fault I was out in the desert that night when Shiro crashed.”
“They seem to think it was.”
“Just because you were driving the getaway vehicle doesn’t mean it was your fault!”  The memory of that night came flooding back and he let himself laugh a little at how ridiculous it all was. How ridiculous their life had become. “I’m sure, had you not been there to whisk us all away, we would have found our own method of escape.”
“Oh yea? How?” Keith tilted his head, his smiling growing more confident. Katie flattened a look at him, pushing him back with a hand to his chest. He caught it, holding it close to his heart.
“I’m sure we could have found something.”
“You would have. I’m not sure about the other two.”
“You underestimate Lance’s ability to fall into situations.” She leaned into him, her chin coming to rest near his collarbone.
“And you would have followed Lance?”
“No. I would have followed Hunk. But Hunk would have followed Lance so I would have been along via association.”
“Ahuh…sure…”
He let himself lean into her, his head coming to rest against her own. She closed her eyes and smiled against his cheek and he wondered how he ever let the words of someone else make him feel anything less than what she thought of him.
Because no one else mattered. Not really.
Matt whistled from the other room, snapping the pair out of their moment.
“Come on, lovebirds. Game time!”
“You have the worst timing, Matthew!” Katie sighed dramatically, reaching behind her to grab her antlers and resituate them on her head.
He couldn’t help himself.
He pulled her back to him in one swift motion, bringing her up into a kiss that was maybe just a little more passionate than what she was accepting. She squealed before laughing into his lips, letting him hold the moment longer than he thought she would.
“Gross!” Matt made a gagging noise and one of the twins gurgled their opinion in kind.
He finally let Katie drop to her feet when he heard her grandfather mutter something he didn’t understand. Katie giggled, pulling him along with her back to the living room. He made sure to make eye contact with her grandparents and their unamused stares.
“Mistletoe.” He shrugged, smiling.

okay ough. alright alright
LOVED it tbh like as a whole LOVED hstv. i really like how the show seemed older and more mature, lending to real situations that teenagers dealing with bullying get into while still maintaining the wholesome nature and overall good vibes of the story whole. normally i’m not a big fan of when the main character is Goin Through It to the degree that everyone has stopped talking them and they’re alone and dealing with that, it just seems overdone at this point and i feel like doesn’t stem from anywhere with roots, but this time it felt refreshing? it felt natural for charlie’s arch with nick and his avoidance there, tao’s hurt at charlie not telling him about nick and their isolation from that. i think it’s because there was a very visible meaning for each of these bits of isolation that add up to more than just miscommunication. both have to deal with the mental status of each of the characters and how they’re perceive themselves and their relationships and how other people have impacted those views, esp. with charlie, which is refreshing. i loved the power charlie had in his arc, same with tara, the two of them finding power in their worth and who they are just felt really good. it really felt like an ensemble show! i love that. like it wasn’t just about charlie confessing to nick and navigating his feelings and their relationship while also still dealing with homophobia and bullying and his other friends. it’s also about elle finding more comfort in herself while at a new school, it’s about tao coming to terms with his relationships and needs and mental status, it’s about tara finding confidence in herself to be out, it’s about all of them! they all ove plots that are more than just side plots because they’re all going through it together! they’re all growing together!! i especially loved the little convo nick and tao had in the last episode, there understanding of each other. that also felt very natural and i thought it was a very good way to bridge that gap between them that doesn’t just. bridge it and then move on with no further context. i really love all the context given to the entirety of the show i think is what it boils down to ajshajdh
now i like imogens arc and i thought that was also very important for nick to help him come to some realizations about himself but i’m not super thrilled with how she’s just. kinda sidelined after that? like she has that heart to heart with nick in the park and then she’s just kinda gone. we see them talking once more before school but nothing much else. i felt like that conversation between them was setting them up to be better friends and for her to be just a little more prominent but maybe i was just looking into it wrong? i thought it would have been a good opportunity to start a stronger friendship between them and seen how the two of them grow, especially parallel to each other but again that might just be me
overall 10/10 would recommend to a friend
agree! im sad imogen was sidelined but i firmly believe it's because her next arc will be more longform and so it's unwise to start it in the first season that may not get renewed for a second. i'm certain she'll be more central again if the show gets a s2. and yea! paris gang ensemble show! characters with agency! main-protag-gets-abandoned plotline that is brief enough and well-set-up enough that it doesn't feel boring! this show fucking rules!!

3 - what is your favourite genre?
prooobably character study? like when the plot is about internal growth (e.g. the goldfinch, my year of rest and relaxation, the catcher in the rye) which i guess isn't really a genre? i like historical fantasy but in the way the letter for the king does it, FUCK ACOTAR i refuse to read shitty YA fantasy which booktokkers only read for the fucking sex scenes. also gothic lit i guess because it feels kind of decadent? and also you have to think critically from the get go because the authors will bring prejudices to it, so it's not gonna catch me off guard in the way, like, geek girl would. and modern horror would fall into that i would LOVE to get my hands on 'tell me i'm worthless'
6 - what books have you read in the last month?
iiiii haven't really been reading because of like, a levels :( but i HAVE read some of stalin's biography by simon sebag montefiore (INSANE BOOK not because of the content but because of how sebag presents it it's SO fucked up the way he talks about stalin like he's some kind of romance protagonist like stop itttt stop it for real) and also 'something that may shock and discredit you' by daniel lavery, which is very good if somewhat opaque, and pretty fun in how it presents his experience of being trans. it's incredibly personal and specific but the underlying feelings are incredibly relatable, and also the more romantic parts of it (like jacob and the angel's fight, which gets brought up a lot but one of the versions of it is particularly heartwrenching; and the interlude about arthur's death) just really get to me. i wanted to read it for AGES so i'm really happy i own a copy of it now and when i'm done i'll go through with tabs to pick up on recurring motifs. also really good for the way it handles religion, which again isn't personally relatable in the specifics but the intersection of how lavery experiences religion and his gender feel like the dark mirror of how i do it :)
18 - do you like historical books? which time period?
YEAS i'll read any time period except regency onwards. i ESPECIALLY won't read ww1/ww2 books because it's overdone and also i find it boring or upsetting depending on who the focus is on (the only exception is the book thief, which i read when i was like 10 and really loved). i like it when the authors get super in depth with the historical accuracy like not necessarily because i'm a pedant (i am) but because it, again, makes it feel SO much more real and comfy <3

sorry i know this wasnt necessarily the point you were making with it but i just read your post abt dean and cassie and i literally didnt remember her at all. i am so sad. i havent srsly watched spn in years but i hold such fondness for dean and to see him over and over again try to find good things, good people, happiness, to have them in his hands, only for those things to be taken away truly at the whim of the writers is just. i mean its insane. im projecting a little here but i literally think about it so often
hi friend!
uhm...yea. that's disconcerting maybe but the show also had a lot of characters. cassie was notable for me specifically because she was played by a black actress and they had great chemistry. i firmly think the writers wanted to make her irrelevant and that's why we got lisa. her character very easily could have been a series regular.
but yes. i, too, love dean and think in terms of happiness we could have seen more of that coming from his relationship with cassie. she was a good person and loved him very visibly. the plot point of taking good things from dean is partially what i hate about the show and think it was often overdone for the sake of jensen being a pretty good actor.

Okay so before i say anythign i know ur a frkn amazing writer so i didnt want to give like an overdone au, not that theres anything worng with that cuz im a sucker for when u write those as well, bcuz u make them unique. Butttt i really had to think so hard about this one, cuz i wanted it to be fun and challenging and like idk, uts super fleshed out and u can totally change anything and like its ur work im sure i will love whatever you write, obv even if its not this which is completely cool.
Okay, so im thinking, mc is like a single mom bakery owner who had like an abusive husband who she offed. So the bakery is a front, for liek a safe space for trauma survivors, and victims os sa sort of thing. And if the victim wants it, she kind of goes out as a hitman and hunts down the assaulter.
On one mission while shes about to off the person, a passerby(kim taehyuUNNNGG) sees this happening and is like stopping her cuz this is set on like old times so nobody really seen her or knows her, theres no social media, its pretty underground. So he doesnt know why shes about to kill someone and thats where they lock eyes and meet for the first time.
Thats kind of where im at. Like the mission goes haywire sort of thing. And then yknow from there obv they evwntually fall in love but def like slow burn, enemies to lovers sort of thing. Maybe hes a fan of the bakery already and always visits, but didnt recognize her under the mask. Idk this is where im at but yea. If you want to
OOooh I like getting detailed requests too, sometimes they help me get a gauge of what you want better. Either way is fine since I test them all out through writing sessions and see which sticks. Thank you for your continued support!!

Something fun about aging is the less and less I care what people think of me.
Is my eyeliner messy and overdone? Yes and I love it this way. Is wearing floor length skirts and a casual tshirt weird? Yea a lil but I love it that way. Is the handbag I made god-awful atrocious and an eyesore? Sure is! But I love it that way.
I love just being able to do whatever tf I want without exterior influences from feeling like a weirdo. Yeah I’m a weirdo but now idgaf that I am and what people think of me.

Next life (ryomen sukuna x reader)
Tumblr media
| PAIRINGS: ryomen sukuna x gn!reader
| WARNINGS: just lil mentions of blood, lil suggestive, kinda angsty? lil violent, grammar errors
| WORD COUNT: 1,012
A/N: so sukuna was making me feel some kinda way thanks to that anon who talked about sukuna and favourites so i decided to write something about him and maybe this trope is kinda overdone but u know what? idc! i’m tired of pretending sukuna isn’t sexy and a demon and the way he could have a favoeuite !! so yea anyway hope you enjoy!! just had to write about him today damn 😔✋
You were his favourite.
Out of all the hordes of people he could have at his disposal, Sukuna found something in you that just invited him to get closer and closer. Like fire. Calling him to get warm but at the same time fight the temptation of touching the hot essence that was your soul.
Sukuna still remembers the first time he saw you as if it was yesterday; facing down at your feet with fear as the priests you once thought were God’s right hand were pushing you to the Devil’s grip. Submit and survive, that’s what they said.
Submit and survive for the greater good of the village.
You didn’t know if you wanted to be angry and scream with impotence or take a chance to run away as fast as you could when Sukuna didn’t even spare you a glance, let alone a comment. But your will to live with dignity was stronger than your ego and all the unworthy people in your village. You had a new goal.
Be invisible. Don’t let the King of Curses know of your existence. Become less than nothing under his scornful gaze and survive to get your revenge on the heads of the village.
And that’s what you thought you were doing right the first few weeks until Sukuna himself handpicked you among the rest of his followers desperate to get his attention. How? It’s still a mystery to this day but you weren’t going to become another corpse by him.
Sukuna really enjoyed the way you still had fight in you even after hours of him holding you against your will. You were feisty and he could feel the hatred inside you but, surprisingly enough, it wasn’t against him. At least not all of it.
Interesting.
No way in hell he was going to give up now that you had something he wanted to know, to possess. And day after day, Sukuna tried to break you in many ways, watching as the barrier that protected your essence broke little by little every time he barely touched your skin, red eyes studying you with something you couldn’t describe.
Nothing was better than taming a wild beast into submission.
Because the day you finally gave up to your deepest desires after fighting them –fighting yourself– you let Sukuna taint every single part of your soul with his lewd touch and mouths. But figure towering over you as if his shadow was meant to consume you since the beginning.
And when Sukuna finally marked you, a black line adorning your neck and wrists to become his and only his as you moaned his name like a prayer, that’s when you became his favourite.
You just took him so good Sukuna became addicted, keeping you all to himself next to him almost in fear of someone stealing you from him.
Sukuna adored you. From the way your body was so used to him by now it was almost in auto pilot, to the way you still bit back at him at every chance you got. He was totally infatuated by you and it was no secret to the jealous eyes of his followers.
But the hatred was still there. Your hunger of revenge bigger than your adoration for the King of Curses (if such feeling even existed), the fight within you never dying down even when you had all the privileges you could have. However, it wasn’t Sukuna’s fault, no. You just really wanted to kill those priests who cover the atrocious meaning of his gatherings under a mask of faith.
You would do anything.
The feeling of Sukuna’s fingertips traced your arm as you laid down next to him after bedding you was making you feel tranquil, something you thought you had forgotten a long time ago. The warmth emanating from his naked body behind you that you grew accustomed to and the feeling of his fangs sinking into your shoulder from time to time.
This would’ve been nice if it wasn’t all a lie. A prison keeping you from your destiny.
Your eyes landed on your marked wrists that matched with his and you knew that the moment was close. It didn’t matter anymore.
~
“You fool.” Sukuna’s whisper came to your ears as a low echo, his two pairs of red eyes looking at you from shove with sorrow as a sly smirk covered his face, contradicting himself.
It all felt it happened in a matter of seconds: the usual fighting and the usual angry sex before you admitted you were leaving, even if he didn’t want to, even if he had to kill you. You weren’t going to stop.
You expected every reaction except the sharp pain that invaded your body from the core of your chest.
You looked down with a blurry sight only to be met with his hand piercing right through your heart, blood spattering on the ground as you turned your head to look at Sukuna behind you. But you weren’t strong enough, falling to your knees as his arms wrapped around you and your mind started to shut down.
Pathetic. You were pathetic.
A bitter smile creeped up your face as you kept getting lost into those same red eyes, matching the small droplets of your blood in his face.
“All you had to do was listen to me, little human. I gave you everything.”
Your eyes started to feel heavy and, even at this state, you could feel the anger flowing within you because of his words; you wanted to spit on him.
“Couldn’t let you go just like that. You are my favourite.”
Sukuna’s deep voice started feeling further away as you finally gave up to the inevitable. But, if something more existed out there, you were sure you would never forget his words and what you could think was a hint of a tear on his eye or an illusion from the tears in your own.
“I will meet you in your next life. You’re never getting away from me. Even if I must kill you a thousand times. You’re mine. Always mine.”

Did they/didn't they + I didn't mean to turn you on, for Darklina, please! 🖤
Ivan, who knew, wouldn’t say a word, Saints vex him. Fedyor, who also knew, wouldn’t say anything either, out of marital solidarity or sheer impishness; the latter was supported by the perpetual display of his dimples. The gossip about the status of Alina’s relationship with the General, dating back to that first day in his billowing silk tent when General Kirigan raised her grubby linen sleeve far higher than he had any real need to in order to test her properly, was as present as pickled herring at every meal, as mulled over as the last glass of kvas in any bottle. Alina, too busy trying to make up for the lost years of education and camaraderie at the Little Palace, was oblivious to the chatter and the Grisha were collectively too astute to let even the faintest hint of their speculation reach their General’s ears, but to Ivan, the damage was done.
“I thought Zoya would choke on her tongue when she heard Alina mention her presentation to the Tsar,” Fedyor remarked, in what was supposed to be refuge of their marriage-bed. Ivan lay back and looked at the canopy above them, letting Fedyor’s words drift around like stardust. “Alina complained about the gold veil, she was really rather funny about it, but it was clear she didn’t realize the significance of it, or the General taking her hand, well, let’s just say I was relieved Zoya could only whip up a tornado and not burn the Little Palace to the ground. I would have been a pile of cinders, Vanya.”
“Zoya should have better self-control,” Ivan said. “And her expectations about her own…assignation with the General were grossly out of proportion.”
“Marie is convinced they are betrothed,” Fedyor said.
“Betrothed?”
“The myrtle binding,” Fedyor said. “It is extremely amusing to imagine the General wearing a myrtle wreath—”
“He wouldn’t want to muss his hair,” Ivan said, just this side of scoffing. Fedyor batted him lightly on his broad, scarred shoulder.
“Vanyushka!”
“I grant you, he’s entitled to his vanity,” Ivan said. “And it never interferes with his command, but for a ceremony—Marie is blinded by her own romantic ideals. She would have the Sun Summoner trussed up in frills and ribbons—”
“Sergei asked David what he thought and David said it was impossible, a man like the General, a woman, a girl like Alina, one so fair, one so dark, they’d never be able to bridge the distance between them,” Fedyor said.
“He’s just talking about Genya,” Ivan said. “Though I’m impressed he imagines himself in General Kirigan’s place.”
“He’d be Alina,” Fedyor said. Ivan laughed but it was true.
“I honestly think they don’t even know themselves,” Ivan said. “It’s enough to drive me mad some days. She blushed red as Nina’s favorite kirtle last week when she came in and heard him singing in the bath, which, I admit, it’s startling when you hear how clear a tenor he has and I might have thought him a fresh recruit to the First Army by his own expression, both of them overcome, painfully obviously with the most fearful lust, Fedya, the General looked feral. I almost knocked over that overdone horse sculpture the Tsarevich commissioned for the War Room just to break the tension—”
“You just hate that stallion, milyy,” Fedyor said.
“It’s ugly,” Ivan said. “And crass. It’s perfectly Lantsov and it has no place in the Little Palace.”
“Are you going to say anything?”
“About the sculpture? There’s no point, the General hates it as much as I do but the ramifications of its removal are too great—”
“No, malysh, about them,” Fedyor said. “I take my cue from you on this score.”
“He wouldn’t want us to say anything,” Ivan said. “Yea or nay. Not until the pot is bigger—he knows we can’t afford that dasha in the country on our pay. He’s spoken of it, how important it is for a couple to have their own retreat, a home, how he wants that for all the Grisha.”
“This, right now, is enough for me, Vanyushka,” Fedyor said softly.
“I know. But I want more for you,” Ivan replied. “The General wants to remake Ravka, the entire world, for her and she wants to make night into day for him. I can want a dasha with a paddock and a grape arbor for you, Fedya. They understand.”
