Fiber artist challenge of the day: weave in those damn ends
#art#fiber art#crochet#knitting#i actually enjoy weaving my ends in so far. it feels like that snake game#don't ask what i'm doing up so late (was crocheting and now my brain feels fuzzy)#had to switch cakes of yarn and that meant i wove in two ends just for this one small project. it was. fun :)#i like thinking about where to weave the ends in so that they're flush with the stitch itself. strategizing harder than the military rn#i watched somebody who said they never wove in their ends when they first started knitting and 😨😨😨

Hey y'all! This question came up when I had family visiting, and I am genuinely unsure of how common this is
#the person behind the yarn#I always have a deck of cards in any bag I carry with me#before I had a purse it was in my yarn project bag#before that in my school backpack#now that I have to take a purse when I leave the house for carrying emergency meds reasons#I have a deck of cards in there in case I'm ever bored somewhere and want to pass the time#and I was out with family and pulled out a deck of cards and they were very surprised#I do want to look up the instructions for a few more two or three player card games though#I mostly default to playing Speed and that's kinda unfair to play with kids#well okay maybe not unfair in general but A. I am very very good at that game* and B. the kidlet I was playing with was not familiar#with how the facecard numbers work#so I had to slow down a lot#(*when I had the deck of cards in high school Speed was usually what I played and I got a LOT of practice lol)

Something Sunday!
No one tagged me but I'm excited to show you some baubles I made yesterday so I'm kicking things off early.
I basically haven't touched the baubles at all since I showed you the Barbie one last week... They're just not a lot of fun to make. But I sat down yesterday, put Brooklyn 99 on (again) and did some work. So here they are:
I'm very pleased with the pride bauble, I just need to work on adapting some other pride flags now. There's only 2 weeks until the faire though so other flags might have to wait until next year, I just have too much left to do for this one!

Kirby dresses up as Meta Knight and learns that Meta’s old cape was a gift from Dedede.
#Kirby#Kirby fanart#my art#comic#Metadede#not exactly sure when in the game timeline my comic is set but probably around the time of Return to Dream Land#also the ship isn’t the main focus of the comic it touches more on Meta’s origin and their first meeting but I do ship them lol#and they are a couple in this comic but the comic mostly just covers how Meta Knight arrived on Popstar and how he and Dedede first met#but at this point in my interpretation of the timeline they’re married lol#I’ve seen a lot of people headcanon them as getting married during Kirby Fighters 2 but in my interpretation they get married earlier#in my timeline they started dating around the time of Squeak Squad and they got married around the time of Epic Yarn#and Kirby Fighters 2 is just the two of them celebrating their wedding anniversary lol#not sure when I’ll have the next page of this done but the next one will start getting into Meta’s backstory#Meta Knight#Bandana Dee#Sailor Dee#King Dedede#Knightfall in Dream Land

One of the great things about fiber arts (at least to me) is that... you outright own the things you make. It's hard for me to comprehend actually owning something, and that's that. The item you have created doesn't need to come with strings attached (pun intended).
In a world where you are constantly buying things but not owning any of it, truly, it's such an odd experience to actually have ownership of your labour, time, and love like that.
#art#fiber art#crochet#honestly that's how i feel with my blanket still#like i don't own my subscription to spotify or the games i virtually purchased fullprice (which. why)...#...but when i get my yarn and i use the crochet hook i have been abusing a little i OWN the things it and i make#that's honestly kind of intimidating to me because i haven't truly felt i owned anything. like not even my life. it's a problem.#i just got some pretty yarn to use for a cardigan. they told me to use acrylic but i can't wear acrylic and i like cotton#<it's insane that i can just Decide to not use the pattern recommendations. like that's still crazy to me#anyway fuck capitalism and adopt a craft if you can#it's SUCH a freeing experience and it will make you feel crazy once you know what it feels like to actually own your labour. lol.#like it doesn't matter WHAT craft it is. could be knit. could be wood burning. could be abstract car manufacturing...#...as long as you can do it safely to your standards and you are satisfied and fulfilled with it then it can change you. let it change you.
