Ahhh, that is actually an illustration by Zaria from an older bl novel by Shikiko Yamaai from the 90’s called 蘭陵王 (Ran Ryou Ou), if I recall correctly… rather than from a manga, which is probably why you have struggled to find it. I don’t believe it is available digitally at the moment either - perhaps the harlequin lovesick imprint doesn’t exist any longer? Anyway, I hope that helps!

Today I want to talk about one of my favorite artist Ayami Kojima. She has a lot of titles to her name but she best know as a character designer and an illustrator. To a lot of young artist she might not be know or completely forgotten but to me she made a lasting impression with her work on the 'Castlevania' series. Ayami from a young age was inspired by shonen manga and various anime series. Her interest motivated her to teach herself how to draw and to create an amazing characters that she is so well knowed about today. Because of her astonishing work and ability to create not only interesting but gorgegues characters she was quickly hired by 'Konami' to work on 'Castlevania' series. A lot of Ayami's work can be recognized by her distinctive art style. Most off her characters look extremely attractive and good looking but yet they always are surrounded by creepy and chilling background and environments. Not to mention most of her work is done with oil paint which is really unusual to a character designer. One of the most know example of her character creation abilities is the Dracula himself, Ayami said in one of the interviews that he was the most fun to draw while she was working on the series. At the start of her drawing career Ayami could only afford and use watercolors and colored pencils although artist started slowly adding various others materials to her tool kit such as  Conté Crayon, acrylics, India ink, gloss polymer medium, stumps. The artist revealed that for a lot of tools she used she had to practice to be able to use them to their full potential. Sometimes Ayami even uses modeling paste to make her background look more 3D like. Ayami also mentioned that nowadays she uses a lot of monochrome pallets because it fits her art theme which is realism/fantasy. Ayami's art can also be found in her art book titled  Santa Lilio Sangre ~Akai Yuri~ Ayami Kojima Art Works(2010) as well as Alexandrite (Shikiko Yamaai, 2006), Island of Depraved Angels (Yama Ai Himeko, 2011), Shikisai Oukoku vol. 3(1999) books and Sanada gentila light novels. There are also rumors that she will come back to the gaming industry to work on Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night to work on on the packaging artwork for physical copies. But it will only be for small amount because the artist is busy with other projects. In conclusion, I fell in love with with Ayami's work because of how different it was. You don't see a lot of character designers do traditional art with oil paint and even work with modeling paste to make it seem more 3D like. Her art alone can drawn you in to try  the 'Castlevania' game series. Not to mention she is self taught artist that made it big in several industries and even after her biggest series she didn't stop improving on her art. I my opinion, because of her non traditional art style she  became one of the best character designers there is.
