The true villain of Home Alone.
At least Harry and Marv were quite bumbling and funny, in their own way.
This man was simply horrible.
And Kevin’s parents look hideous for letting someone talk to their 8 year old child like that.

I want y’all to hear my opinions on the fuckin grinch right now.
it’s a terrible fuckin movie and it deserves to be jailed. All versions of it are bad and it’s so overplayed. There are much better Christmas movies out there but for some reason, the worst one out there is considered the best.

i need to vent about the ending of arthur christmas
the one year later cards explicitly say for all the main characters (even the unfortunately named reindeer) that they are happy, the endings they have may not be the ones they began the film wanting but are ones that leave them fulfilled & happy
except arthur’s
his only says they he made everyone else happy
the person who spends the whole film completely torn up & in conflict with his family just to make a little girl happy, the person who the film establishes as deeply selfless & empathetic, and the "happy ending" they give him is only making other people happy making the people who quite frankly didn't give two shits about him for the rest of the film happy regardless of his own self-sacrifice and personal satisfaction
it reminds me so much of the rainbow fish that kids book where the fish gives away all their sparkly scales you know the one
it's so incredibly heartbreaking that someone who just wanted to make sure a kid wasn't left out on christmas is held up as solely responsible for everyone else's happiness & happy endings at the expense of his own
why didn’t the filmmakers say that arthur ended up happy too i truly don’t understand this

Matthew Jamison, contractor and project manager (Lucas Bryant, Five More Minutes: Moments Like These, 2022)
Many people won't know that Lucas has a thriving business outside of acting, and it seems like fate was calling for him to step into Matthew's shoes.
"Well, first of all, in a strange mirroring of art meets life, right now, when I'm not working as an actor, I'm often doing building stuff. And so I'm working right now on a renovation that needs to be done by Christmas."
That's right, Lucas is a real-life Hallmark character.
"Right! So they were like, 'Well, this guy's a contractor.' And I said, 'Well, as much as I'm able to play any kind of character, this is in my wheelhouse.' I was right on board. And the director, Kevin, thought it was hilarious that the things that I was most particular about were when we were doing various installation techniques.
And so I was just like, 'This is upside down. This needs to go the other way. If you were hitting this, you'd hit it from here. And I'm not going to use a wrench here when I need a hammer.' And I just want to make sure that I'm a believable builder."
When you've got two worthwhile professions, you would certainly want to portray both in the best light. What would anybody think of his construction work if he couldn't handle the tools properly on screen?
He laughed, "So I was my own technical advisor when it came to my contractor work."
In the story, Matthew is a local contractor with ties to Kaitlyn's family who finds himself playing middleman between a developer and Kaitlyn for the home she shared with her husband and son.
It's "special because it was the first house that was designed by our lead character's late husband, who was an architect. So it's a touchy situation, obviously, but Matthew has heart and soul and a relationship with the family. So he's just trying to navigate that transaction without being insensitive to the needs of the family."

John Carpenter’s ‘The Thing’ came out in 1982, and was later on HBO shortly after — meaning I was younger than 10 when I first sneaked a watching late one night. Having already watched Alien and Poltergeist the same way, The Thing gave my childhood trauma one thing it had been missing: paranoia.
No longer would I run to friends or family if the nightmares got too terrible to deal with — because they’d just laugh at me, split open in a spray of blood teeth and tendrils, and digest me from the inside, working its way out to replicate me.
In a way, this movie holds a special place in my soul. My fascination with special effects is why I have anxiety disorder today. My fault.
