ᨳິ petites idées! nsfw, smut. xiao + wanderer. what kind of bottom they would be?! *round of applause* themes — hinted dacryphilia, overstimulation, god complexes, edging, you name it! with other honorable mentions such as m!oral receiving, praise kicks, breeding kinks, blindfolding- oh, and cowgirl. ༄

❀ “You speak of my approval with such ease, it is no easy feat to make me approve such lecherous ideas.” — Says the cross-armed, baleful-eyed yaksha.
❀ “It is when you’re HIM!” — Retorts the smug-faced gn!adventurer who lacks every meaning of self-preservation.
✿ No because you felt like THEE shit when you managed to convince him to bottom for you simply because his confirmation evinced that he trusts you greatly. You’re also quite sure he understands the vulnerability of his position, hence his hesitation even towards your reassurance and lighthearted jokes. Anyway, I’m sure he’s a demanding yet pleasing bottom. Not an ounce of kinkiness or brattiness radiates from his sweet self. His primary focus is to please you, after all.
✿ He’d do anything to give and receive said pleasure, though when he’s on the receiving end, he’s more demanding simply because he knows what he wants. Surely he’s still somewhat timid when it comes down to it, but not enough to disclose discomfort. Though, you almost never cause enough discomfort for him to relent completely. Surely he’s still somewhat timid when it comes down to it, but not enough to disclose discomfort. Though, you almost never cause enough discomfort for him to relent completely.
✿ But the downside to such PARADISE is him tending to lose focus when he’s too stimulated, so without proper communication you’re likely to get harmed during the process. Such as him biting your shoulder to the point where you’re dripping with blood, for example. Hence he’s a runner not because he’s overstimulated, but worried for your safety.
✿ LIKE OKAY LET ME COOK RQ ITS OKAY JUST LISTEN—
꒰꒰ “[Y/n], why aren’t you speaking?”
𝒲hile gyrating his pearly-white hips to define impatience, the bleary-eyed adeptus questioned the one between his thighs who was unsuccessfully managing to retain a smile on his face. His baltic gold eyes were lowered with intemperance as if the concept of composure has yet to fill his mind. Though of course, considering the titillating scene below him, an innate look of intimidation is the last thing he could perform at the moment, for his cheeks suffused with crimson once your lips enriched his rubified tip with an amorous smooch.
Conflicted, since your immortal lover twitched rhythmically in your palm as if he isn’t upset over something minor, you stared up at him as you seasoned kisses along the viridian designs that journeyed from his faultless abs to his soppy tip. His expression softened sequentially once you’ve acknowledged that you forgot something during your travels, which was to fetch a kiss from the agitated yaksha’s lips below you, earning a waspish whine from him. Confused, you did just that, and while speaking “Alatian” has its perks, you do wish sometimes he would just speak his mind at times.
“Would you like for me to talk to you, Alatus?” You asked him against his departing lips, which were faminished and quivering for more than just a meaningless peck. Shamelessly, he nodded, his arousal unbridled much like his leather-gloved hands that found solace within your thighs. He gripped them with imprudence, his fingertips excavating into your skin to the point where you moaned at the seething sensation. You tittered at his display of desperation with another one of those teasing pecks he learned to loathe, but he wouldn’t dare make his move. Not in the volatile state he was in. Not yet at least.
“Okay, my love. I’ll talk you through it. Just lay down and relax, and everything will be alright.”
Your promising tone was the personification of qingxins. It even sparked the coldest stare to convert into a dewy-eyed state, his dick throbbing relentlessly without a lick of consideration for his depleting composure. Once you lowered yourself back towards the issue, your siren-like glare fixated on him, and if your mouth wasn’t enough to have him clenching the life out of the silky duvets, your voice certainly did the trick. Despite being capable of maintaining eye contact, his head gradually tilted backwards, trotted by a shaky moan eluding his lips.
“I… Hah… Hah…” He panted brainlessly as your mouth enveloped around his aching shaft, roughly and greedily sucking him as your head bobbed at a reasonable pace. Although you believed that he was going to last a little longer, the excessive twitching down your throat begged to differ. Alatus’s forearm was concealing his line of sight as his hips uncharacteristically thrusts inside of your mouth in order to amplify the whirling pleasure. A muffed gag rumbled beneath your throat in response, though your warning was needless to the needy thing, for he only groaned ecstatically when the vibrations blessed his slobber-coated dick. Times like this, it’s practically an obligation to relent. Even though you’re alright with the idea of him obliterating your vocal chords, he tends to get a little too animalistic at times.
His dick slid from off your drooling tongue with a heavy breath, though the metallic connection between his tip and your mouth was inseparable; he needed to be in your mouth, desired to hear how you’d sound after he fucked your throat with such potency. Instinctively, with a low whimper to correspond with his impulses, he shoved himself back in your mouth, causing you to gag louder than before. You pulled back innately in order to let out a strained cough, but you still possessed the consciousness to continue stimulating him by wrapping your supple fingers around his drenched length. Alatus’s teary eyes widened apologetically once he processed his actions, but bestowing a raspy chuckle in response to his desperation made his worries dissipate within milliseconds.
“N-Not yet… not yet… Need.. more?”
He immediately begged without a breath in his lungs, but that was expected with the way he was panting as if someone was asphyxiating him. His look was still flushed with apologies that his arousal refused to verbalize (expect him to latch onto you apologizing once you two finish, however). It would be intrusive to force him to dwell in such an agonizing state, though the way his tears brightened his amber-blessed eyes only made you squirm even more in anticipation. It was a difficult choice, whether to make him cum now or see how long it would take for him to finally break.
Such a poor thing, please treat him accordingly, would you? ꒱꒱

❀ “Huh… and what makes someone like you so worthy of that?” — Asserts the haughty, anthropologic doll.
❀ “Well, what do I need to do to deserve all of you?” — The hispanic!male adventurer replies with a similarly haughty appearance.
✿ You’d need an unreasonable amount of self-control to deal with him. I’m sure we’re all aware that he also fits in the switch category, and I’d also like to believe that he’s definitely a degrading, punishing top who would probably make you beg to cum only for him to refuse each time. Him bottoming didn’t change his personality much as well, because now he’s a power bottom brat who doesn’t understand when or how to be quiet. The most you could do is practice the term “patience”.
✿ Oddly, despite his disrespectful antics, he adores praise, just like any other individual with narcissistic tendencies. Adulation is something any God should bask in, yes? Instead of punishing him for his mouth, which takes longer to rectify, you should keep a kind smile and claim that his pretty face is better when drenched with tears. Now this nigga sobbing with each chance he gets, ordering you to compliment him.
✿ I also like to believe that Wanderer knows many variations of Spanish… iykyk. His Shouki no Kami was probably inspired by Latin American folklore and history. Y’all know them damn them Incas was unnecessarily strong. In order to study it, he needed to explore the languages first.
✿ Man, just let me cook- LET ME COOK, PLEASE.
꒰꒰ 𝓑illowing smoke of the burning Kalpalata lotus aromatized the bleak vicinity to help catalyze the whirling arousal in your abdomen in order to free yourself from exasperation, though even a sex-inducing flower wasn’t enough to reach a singular orgasm considering your doll’s intentions. Your senses were reliant on touch and smell, from remnants of padisarahs and plastic wafting in your face since Kuni’s hat was disrupting your line of vision, to your dick being swallowed effortlessly by the failed deity, who was also grunting waspishly because of such. Really, it was forbidden to even consider anything but him during such a pious session. How dare you burn something so useless when there was an intoxicant bringing ambrosial warmth, mewling and groaning endlessly around your shaft, embellishing the reddened beige with hallowed ivory? You were mocking him and he knew it.
“Dámelo,” He panted begrudgingly causing spittle to elude his lips that were perishing from desiccation. Without giving you a moment to relish in his faultless lilt that wasn’t programmed in his system, but rather studied simply by analyzing how you speak, he snatched the floral-based joint from between your fingers before tossing it elsewhere. You didn’t need it. You needed him to cum, but it was beginning to sound like he was convincing himself more than anything.
He could even feel you grinning puckishly underneath his meretricious hat, which he forbade you to remove since you didn’t deserve to bask in the glory he endowed upon you, but you could definitely rely on your imagination. From what you’ve learned was a cross-armed, disdainful-appearing doll converting into a needy, irritable lover who needs to feel you come undone beneath him. “Do you ever consider being more God-fearing, [Y/n], or do you have some sort of dying wish?”
Irreverently, you nodded to affirm his revulsion; he was on the verge of leaving you hard and impatient to accentuate his disappointment. You understood this, seeing as he placed his frigid palms on your pecs in order to ascend his hips, but you grasped one of them instinctively, coaxing his walls to remember why they contract to begin with. Meanwhile your other hand occupied his rubified dick, your thumb anointed with cum that seeped from his sensitive tip. A spate of overwhelming, awe-inspiring, sacrilegious images permeated your memories once your fingers journeyed along his maculated hips, your dick twitching harshly inside of him since the overwhelming desire to paint his ass with crimson handprints inveigled you greatly. It’s almost as if he hasn’t even threatened you to begin with, for the broken whimpers that were poorly disguised as resentful grumbles desired endless adulation.
“¿Ay, muñeco… Quieres más?” You questioned sonorously as your thumb gyrated around his tip, your tone somewhat strained due to the fact that Kuni pulsated and clenched around you because of appropriate addressment. Although he despised the fact that he needed to reduce to fragility to become utilitarian, libations of cum spluttering from his hole as you fuck him during plethoras of orgasms was considerable for the night. The mortifying idea left him ironically blinded, which was determined with the way his hips wiggled and rutted irregularly onto your dick.
Even with his condescending persona, it was evident that he wanted to be of some use to you; he could hardly restrain the tears that painted his porcelain-based eyes as a spew of no’s eluded his lips. In fact, he hasn’t even given you any time to process, since he already snatched your hand away from his tip to avoid finishing too fast… for the third time.
“W-Wait, please…” Imploringly, he hissed under his breath, an innate curse muttering afterwards when he expressed with vulnerability. Deplorable, to say the least. Extremely, to say the least. You adored every second of it; it took you the rest of your self-possession not to batter into him to the point he was charming incantations as if you were his lord. Though, you respected his wishes for now, especially because the cool zephyr kissing your sweat-painted face provided by him finally removing his hat was enough to bring solace to your impulses. “Don’t make me… not again…”
Kuni’s resilience was impeccable, and despite his muddled vision, tousled, empurpled blue hair, panting lips, and entirety of his fucked out exterior, he was willing for more that you had in store for him. You bit your bottom lip with another one of your infamous smiles as you finally grasped both of his hips with both hands. He was startled, let alone offended, at first, but once you began gradually lifting and plunging him down on your dick, the negativities dissipated like flower petals in February. His authenticity was enough, and you could already feel your orgasm approaching rather quickly since you preferred the stammered whimpers rather than the taunting comments. He was more appropriate like this, after all.
“That’s it, fuck me fast- mierda. Want an oblation? Then show me. Show me you need me to cum.” ꒱꒱

Because this is so Xiao coded that's why I have to write something. Not my best, okay??? Just a random thought during work 👀
°DRABBLE°
He heard you.
Even if the busy streets of Liyue is deafening, he heard you. He always does.
His body reacted before he can even process where you are, as if it’s common knowledge to know your whereabouts— it is, though. To him, it is.
He made it just in time before a mitachurl crash into you, saving you with a swift movement of his polearm and a dash. The monster that almost took your life now gone. Xiao turned his head towards your direction, arms reaching out to yours to check for any bruise or wounds— or maybe to feel your skin against his? He’s not sure.
“You came…”
Your voice was tender, fear still evident in the two syllables you’ve stated, but Archons, how dare you doubt him.
“You called”
His answer was firm. Like it was the most obvious thing in the world and he’s judging you for being skeptical in his arrival.
But his touch is warm. As he pulls you close under the moonlight, as you listen to his heartbeat, you know that there’s more to it than what his lips let go of— call his name, and regardless of where he is, what he is doing, what time it is, he will come.

Love and Loyalty
Tumblr media
Xiao has known you ever since he swore loyalty to Rex Lapis. You were his senior, his mentor and the object of his admiration. If possible, he wanted to stay like that forever, fighting by your side and protecting the people of Liyue. However, it seemed fate had different plans for him.
“How could you, y/n? Why would you betray Rex Lapis?” holding up your shoulders, Xiao asked you again and again. As the one closest to you, he had his suspicions about this. And that’s why, he had been spying on you, but he wished that he was just being paranoid. Unfortunately, it seems that his prayers weren’t answered.
“I am sorry to say this, Alatus. But never my loyalty has lied in the Warrior God.” Supported by your spear, you stood proudly under the moonlight, a faraway look in your eyes as you reminisce about your past. Despite the situation, Xiao couldn’t help but thought that you were still as ethereal as the day he first met you.
“Are you talking about the Goddess of Rain? Her passing was truly a tragedy. But it has been more than a century since she has decreased. I thought you have become one of our comrades after overcoming countless struggles together with us, together with the people of Liyue.” It was not that he cannot understand where you are coming from. But Xiao did not want to accept that the days you have spent with him were all a lie.
“Is that the reason why you are joining Osial’s side? You, of all people should know that he is far worse than Rex Lapis.”
“That is not the only reason. But Alatus won’t the able to understand. You are too young.”
He felt irked at the term. Just because you were born a few decades earlier than him, you always brushed him aside when discussing serious matters.
“Please don’t underestimate me. Even though I can’t compare to you, I have lived my fair share of years.”
“Sorry, sorry.” You smiled a little after saying that. Perhaps you thought his response childish. “I didn’t mean to treat you like a kid. But you still haven’t experience love, do you?”
Love, that was a term he had often heard from mortals. He didn’t know or didn’t think that it is necessary to know such useless emotion. But after meeting with you, he was able to encounter both the bliss and agony this feeling had brought upon. If only he would be able to convey it to you honestly…
“I…That’s… Do you love Osial?” He felt a terrible pain from his heart when he realized your implication.
“Yes. I do.” Another pain, worse than any injury he had ever gained from crossing sword with his enemies, ran through his chest.
“But Osial has Beisht as his wife. And I have heard rumors that he has other numerous other concubines.” Collecting himself, he said the most rational thing he could possibly think at the moment. However, he quickly regretted it after seeing the hurt on your face.
“It is alright.” You said with a sad smile. “Because I do not plan for this affection to be known. I do know that I am neither as dignify and graceful as Beisht nor as soft and pretty as his shrine maidens.”
Oh… Just how much he wants to deny your words. In his eyes, there is no one as graceful or pretty as you.
“That is why I just want to help him in the only way I know, by fighting alongside him in his conquest for power as a warrior.” Your heartbroken look changed into one of determination at the last sentence.
Seeing your face, he knew it was useless to try to persuade you to do otherwise and so choose the only path left.
He summoned his spear, hold it against you and said, “That won’t happen if I stop you here.”
“But you won’t. You are far too kind to hurt your own mentor. You better fix that though. I would hesitate to harm you when we meet again in battlefield,” you said, turning your back on him as you start to walk away without a care in the world.
Even though you taught him to never show his back to the enemy, you, yourself, was not following it. Yet, he found himself unable to stab you with his spear like he would always do to his enimes.
While he was being indecisive, you looked back at him and said, “One last advice from your former mentor. Don’t trust Morax. He is not the man you make him out to be.”
At that time, he didn’t understand the meaning of your words.
Years had passed. People no longer know you as the proud Glaze Lily of Liyue but as the cunning commander of Osial’s army.
The time is the peak of the Archon war. But imstead of the battlefield, he looked at the terror folding in front of him.
With your spear thrown away to the ground away from you, you struggled like a mad man in Rex Lapis’s hold. However, no matter how strong you were, your strength cannot be compared to that of a God.
“Let me go you scum. Are you going to hurt my master again in front of me?”
He grimaced at the use of such language. However, his God did not seem to mind it very much or if he did, he didn't show it on his face.
But wait. You said a strange thing in your words.
Again? What did you mean again? When had Rex Lapis ever hurt your master before. Perhaps you were talking about the Goddess of Rain? There was no way Rex Lapis would have hurt her. She was his ally.
Or what if he did…
“Your master is ME. I have always been and will always be.” Holding your chin up to meet his gaze, Rex Lapis said firmly.
The God did not deny your words. But Xiao wanted to know more on the subject but hedidn’t dare interject his lord’s conversation and ask him the truth of the matter.
“No, you are not. There are only two beings in Teyvat who I ever thought of as my master. You killed one of them and are you planning to kill another now?”
Tears rolled down your cheeks. From sadness or frustrations, Xiao didn’t know. Maybe both.
“Osial is a monster. He is fated to disappear for the safety of the people.”
“Then what about my Goddess? Did she do anything to anyone? Why did you hurt her!!”
“Dear, you, yourself, know the answer best, don’t you? I thought of her as my best ally. So, I really didn’t want to kill her. But when you refused my proposal to use your service for me, I was left with no choice.”
He was beyond shocked to hear the words. He looked at the other Adepti wondering if he misheard his Lord. Moon Craver looked at him with a look of guilt and pity while Cloud Retainer did not even meet his eyes. At that, he understood that he heard everything right and that everyone except him was already aware of the horrifying truth.
“You called Osial monster. But in my eyes, there is only one monster and it is you," you said hatred bleeding not only from your voice but also from your eyes.
Stone lances rained from the sky, sealing anyone and everyone who dared to go against the Groundbreaker. You watched helplessly towards the sea where your beloved Master has disappeared and bawled like a newborn baby who has lost her mother.
If he swept you away with him, will you be able to attain a little more happiness compared to now.
“Yes, let’s steal her away,” Xiao thought to himself. He might not be able to compare to Rex Lapis in strength but he had confidence that he would not lose to anyone in speed. After he stole you away, the two of you could go to the country of freedom and live a tranquil life unknown to anyone.
When he was lost in his thoughts, Madam Ping held his hand. It seemed that he had unconsciously summoned his spear. Madam Ping looked at him in his eyes and shook her head.
“We are adepti of Liyue and our contract is to serve this country and Rex Lapis. Isn’t that right, Xiao?”
At her words, he began to remember what his duty was and what Rex Lapis has done for him.
His Lord saved him from the bounds of Ancient God.
His Lord freed him from the horrid duty of devouring dreams.
His Lord bestowed him the name “Xiao” and gave him a place in Liyue.
He couldn’t possibly go against his Lord.
After a while, you lost your consciousness. All the events that had happened this day was affecting your mind terribly.
He wasn’t able to move a single step forward as he watched his Lord carried you to his chamber.

For anyone who didn't get the backstory because of my terrible writing
I wrote this fic from Xiao's point of view who was in a "Notice me Senpai" situation with Reader.
For a long time, Morax had been a yandere but before the events in this fic, he was contented in just having their loyalty since he was a gentleman.
Osial knew that Morax killed the Goddess of Rain and recruited reader to work for him in exchange for revenge.
That is when reader fell for Osial. However, Osial only saw them as a talented subordinate until the end.

Kinktober Day 29: Xiao- Breath Play
R18+ Minors Do Not Interact
Read on Ao3. <- Day 28 Day 30->
Everything about the Yaksha had always drawn you in, from his seemingly perpetual seriousness to the piercing gaze of his golden eyes. He was also exceedingly dangerous. There was no denying that simple fact, even if he was usually kind. He was merciless to those who deserved punishment.
He stares down at you now with those piercing eyes. His hand is on your throat even as he sits up straight with his cock firmly inside of you. The pressure of his grasp made you swallow and become even more accurately aware of it. It was expertly done in a way that wouldn’t hurt you but still made your head spin regardless.
“Even like this you still don’t try to flee,” Xiao comments, sounding almost in awe as he bends down to your face–his grasp not loosening any.
He lets his head come close to yours so your lips brush and his hair tickles against your skin. His hips ground into yours so that you could feel his hardened cock inside you with more intensity. Still, your head was dizzy from the way he held your throat and it made your senses swim even as breath entered your lungs. It was like floating on an unbelievable high.
“Say my name,” he murmurs against your lips as he bucks up into you again making you moan out.
“Xiao,” you reply. It’s all the encouragement he needs before his lips smash into yours and his pace is feverish. Your hands moved to claw down his back as his own hand loosened its hold on your throat–allowing the blood to return to your brain.
The tingling sensation combined with his pace was enough to make your brain shatter with the orgasm you felt wreck your body. It left you gasping for air as a choked cry escaped you and you clamped your legs around him to hold him close.
Xiao wasn’t very far behind as he came inside of you with little more than a strangled grunt before pulling out to lay next to you on the roof of the Wangshu Inn. The both of you caught your breath as you stared at the stars above in the sky.
He hadn’t ever been one for cuddling after, nor was he usually one to linger long for fear of his karma. Still, he stays for a bit more and reaches with his hand to hold one of yours while the other examines your neck.
“There shouldn’t be any bruising, but be sure to see a pharmacist if there is any,” Xiao instructs and you smile–nodding your head. He wasn’t the most expressive, but you still knew your lover cared in his own way.

Xiao being tipsy in front of Aether
Inspired by @kiboyr on Youtube! Go check them out!
C.W. - Paimon being a little shit - Xiao being a bit tipsy - Aether being the forward one - Kiss and make out (mild sexual content) - Past Zhongli/Guizhong - Guizhong dead - Mentioned Zhongli, Guizhong, Venti and Verr Goldet
.
.
.
To my lovely traveller,
The breeze combing through your hair today feels a little different, don't you think? A little sweet with a hint of grapes, right?
You must be wondering, you’re in Wangshu Inn, why would you feel my breeze?
Hehe, that’s because I have left a gift for you.
A few days ago, I paid a visit to this very same inn to try out their drinks, and guess who did I meet?
If you’re guessing your beloved Vigilant Yaksha, you’re correct! Though he declined my offer for a few cups of drinks and company, I left him a gift and I told him this,
“No takesies-backsies!”
And I immediately left with the wind before he could process what’s happening.
If you could smell it right now, I wouldn’t be surprised if you could pick a hint of sweetness in today’s wind. That’s because I left him a bottle of wine, haha!
I know Xiao would only keep it instead of trying it, so I may have told a little lie that it may help with his karmic debt. I know, I know… it’s not good to lie about this.
Still, wine and any kind of alcohol have been therapeutic to me. Almost like… a salvation.
Nah, that was too strong of a word.
So, if anything goes wrong with Xiao– in which the worst scenario is being tipsy, you can take care of him!
How did I know you’d be here today? Well, a certain pretty bird told me– or rather, a pretty lady working in the inn told me about your upcoming visit.
I do apologise for giving you this task which is partially my fault, but hey– at least you and Xiao can spend more time together, ehe!
From your favourite bard,
Venti.
“Oh Venti…” Aether folds the letter neatly, letting out a sigh of resignation.
Though, Paimon doesn’t notice the upward curve on Aether’s lips.
“Hmm… Paimon doesn’t get why that tone-deaf bard is doing this,” Paimon says as Paimon floats in the air, munching on some cookies. “But we should check up on Xiao to see if he’s okay.”
“Paimon, why don’t you let me handle this one?” Aether asks.
“But Paimon wants to help!” Paimon stomps her feet in the air. “Hmph! You always leave Paimon alone when it comes to stuff like this! Paimon is not nosy, Paimon is just concerned!”
“I know, Paimon…” Aether lets out a sigh once again.
It’s just that you always say the wrong things at the wrong time…
Aether could never forget that moment when Paimon, out of concern, asked about Navia’s parents whereabouts… even when Navia had told them both that they passed away years ago!
Or how Paimon was so rude to Furina that Aether almost wanted to knock Paimon’s head.
Paimon totally though you were just a bit of a diva at first.
Oh, sounds like you’re really struggling to cope…  Ah, there it is. You don’t know how to cook!
Oh… Right, Paimon totally forgot both your parents are dead.
Even with that faint recollection, Aether’s ears feel red from remembering these moments. It wasn’t the first time for Paimon to say such insensitive words, and Aether is sure it wouldn’t be the last.
“Paimon, why don’t you go and order some food?”
“But–”
Aether quickly brings up a small bag of mora from his inventory, shutting Paimon up instantly. The moment Paimon could hear the clinking sound of coins in the pouch, her eyes were shimmering like the stars tonight.
“Thank you Aether!” Paimon gives Aether a hug that almost choked his neck, then grabs the bag of mora and finds herself a seat in Wangshu Inn to order what Paimon wants for today’s dinner.
As soon as Paimon is out of his sight, the golden-haired traveller walks up to the lady named Verr Goldet, who is wearing a traditional, dark red, Liyue overcoat with gold accents and a chunky orange bracelet on each of her arms.
“Welcome, traveller.” She smiles at him, just like how she would to any customers. “What’ll you have? We have dishes from both Mondstadt and Liyue, and our Almond Tofu is particularly popular.”
“Then, I’d like a dish of almond tofu, please.”
A few minutes later, the dessert is right in his hands. It has a silky-smooth texture with a long-lasting aroma of almond. Perfect for the adepti.
He then quickly walks up to the inn’s topmost floor, where customers could see the whole view of Liyue: Rocky mountains that stands tall and proud alongside the stone forests, the open plains and lively rivers make up Liyue's bountiful landscape, all of which shows its unique beauty through each of the four seasons.
As Aether could only hear the soft breeze, he called out a name, softly.
“Xiao?”
“You called my name, what do you need assistance with?” Aether quickly turns around to find the Vigilant Yaksha appearing in front of him, with hints of wispy black smoke. The first thing Aether instantly notices is the tint of blush around Xiao’s ears and cheeks.
“If you don’t need anything, then I shall take my leave. I don’t have time for your mortal ideals, humans do waste my time–”
“Wait! I called you because…” Aether takes a deep breath before he continues, stretching out his hands to show him the dish. After all, he didn’t want Xiao to disappear on him again, which the yaksha would always disappear with a wispy black green smoke behind.
Truly a signature move.
“I want to give you almond tofu and… I’d like you to stay for a bit.”
“Huh? Almond tofu?” That made the Vigilant Yaksha’s ears perk up, raising an eyebrow. He looks up and down, both to Aether and the delectable dish in his hands. “You want me to stay in your presence…?”
Aether’s eyes shine bright like a puppy, twinking with pity.
“Oh, fine . But only this once.”
Settling himself onto a stool, the Vigilant Yaksha slowly chews onto his plate of almond tofu, savouring its silky sweetness. Meanwhile, the traveller sat right next to him, smugly stares at Xiao’s tipsy state as he continues to chew onto the tofu. Aether’s eyes follows the gentle movement of Xiao’s hands as he brought the porcelain spoon to his mouth, savouring each bite of his meal.
“Why are you staring at me?” Xiao asks, noticing Aether’s burning stare on his left cheek. “You’re staring at me weirdly, I dislike it… I demand you to stop.”
A soft smile grace Aether’s lips, reflecting the joy he found in simply being in his presence. He admires the way Xiao savoured the almond tofu, the way his eyes would gradually light up with delight at every delicious morsel.
“Traveller… you’re being very, very quiet.” Xiao puts his spoon down on the finished plate. “You want me to stay, huh?”
All Aether could do was to prop his chin up with the heel of his hand, smiling at him in return. In that moment, Xiao could feel the traveller’s eyes lingering on his face, tracing every line, etching each detail into his memory: The flustered, furious blush, the prickling heat fanning across his chest and creeping up his neck, along with his clenched fists under the table.
“Fine, so be it.” Xiao quickly turns his head to avoid the traveller’s gaze, hiding his own expression. “I shall stay by your side.”
Ba-bump! Ba-bump! Ba-bump!
“...What is this feeling?” Xiao mutters the question to himself...

The night the Conqueror of Demons was saved was not the first time he had crossed paths with his mysterious savior. Then where did he recognize you from? Who or what were they truly?
-> Xiao x reader!
-> This is a part two! Go read the first part for context! Reader has no gender or pronouns! The Archon War! Blood and death - not graphic! This fic is purely fictional and might not be or meant to be perfectly lore accurate!
Tumblr media
The night you had saved the Conqueror of Demons was not entirely an accident, but like he had suspected - it was it the first time you had met or crossed paths. Your first meeting was under equally terrible circumstances despite the centuries of time that had passed between them. While he had all but forgotten you or simply believed you had died, you never forgotten him or that night you had met - that terrible moonless night in times of war...
The Archon War was a horrific event mostly lost to the tides of history. Before it there were many gods of all kind who lived in mostly peace with one another. Celestia however, saw this as a problem and announced that only seven of the strongest could live on and claim the title of Archon - these Archon's would divide Teyvat into seven lands under their rule and they would be free to rule and mold these lands as they saw fit. All others would have to perish in the name of Celestia and the Heavenly Principles.
From the beginning it was quite clear who would rise and who would fall... Morax, Baal and Beelzebub were the strongest amongst you all, there was no questions they had secured two seats amongst the Seven for themselves. Many like yourself saw the war as pointless and frankly stupid, but who were you to stand before Celestia and the Heavenly Principles questioning their judgement? You were a minor god all things considered, you were of no consern to the Heavens and thus your voice was not heard.
You had tried your best to save those you could and stop the spreading madness in vain. You had begged Morax and Baal to help, but they wouldn't hear any of it. Morax was one of the oldest amongst the gods, but his contract with Celestia was seemingly too strong. Beelzebub had told you to abandon your foolish pursuits and either fight or fall. You chose neither option.
Instead you fled. You were far from sure of where you were heading, but you wanted no part in this sick game the Heavens were playing. You refused to kill or be killed simply because they demanded it so. Others saw this as an opportunity and would hunt you down relentlessly in fear of further upsetting the Heavens from lack of action. You stood no chance against the other god's and their followers...
You were kneeled on the ground as you helplessly cried and shook from fear. The eyes of those you once called friends looked back at you with bloodlust, you could do nothing but plead for them to stop - to spare your life. Their followers held you down as one of the god approached with their weapon drawn, fresh blood still coating it like paint... You were sure that you would perish on that moonless night by the hands of those you knew and cared about.
A bloodcurdling scream echoed through the air, but it wasn't yours. The area glowed white and you were knocked back by the gods death, the world around you violently reacting to a death of a deity. You looked frozen in place as their body turned into deep red flames, before the field around you lighting into blue flames from it. Those who held you finally let go and started scrambling away to try and save their lives from the attackers, but were cut down just as swiftly.
Your eyes finally fall onto your "savior"... It was funny to think back on, really - how he had actually saved you first. He stood intimidatingly before you with his polearm tightly in hand, just like the weapon before - it too was covered in fresh red blood. You could feel the corruption and bad karma strongly emanating from him, how he could stand so much of it without going completely mad was beyond you...
The moment felt like time had frozen around you and like no one else existed in this world beside you and him. He was terrifying, yet mesmerizing at the same time. He was stained in the blood of those he had just killed and those before, but he never laid even a finger on you... He simply stared silently at your quivering figure, before he turned towards a tall figure you recognized to be Morax. The god calmly told you to go. Told you to run away and hide if you could - not wishing another friend to die by his hand.
You did just that and created a plane of existance that would exist outside the reach of Teyvat, the Heavens and Celestia - leaving behind the world you lived in your whole life to now watching over it from afar. Your existence in the skies acting as the guiding light to those navigating the darkness of the night and life after the destruction of the war. Though it came at a heavy cost, loneliness and solitude for eons... For the first thousand years you would remain in deep slumber, but over time you were able to regain your strength and travel your conscience back to Teyvat.
The night you saved the Conqueror of Demons was the first you had made yourself known to the world since the Archon War. Before you had simply watched from the sidelines as humans and gods went about their days throughout the centuries, simply watching them have such regular and mundane lives - something you would have given almost anything to have... You had only interacted with humans who would either forget you or simply believed you to be a spirit, you would offer them guidance and help. But it wasn't anything like what tou did when saving him that night...
You had walked through Dihua Marsh that night simply taking in the peaceful scenery, you visited it from time to time after hearing about a certain "Conqueror of Demons" who roamed the lands near Wangshu Inn. From the descriptions you though that it could possibly be him, even after all the time that had passed and to your surprise it was. Despite only your conscience inhabitting Teyvat, at times you noticed him turning to look directly at you - as if he could somehow sense your presence despite the distance that separated you.
You had sensed him and the unusually strong karmic debt in the air one night and began searching around. You were able to follow it to find him laying pliant in the grasp of the damned souls - you had noticed how he didn't even attempt to fight against them, but you couldn't let him die like this. Even if he didn't feel like fighting or living anymore, dying by the hands of the damned was a fate far worse than death. With whatever power you could muster you released that blinding white light, it's pureness burning them away and releasing the Yaksha from their hold into your arms.
Those golden eyes that stared at you in shock were so beautiful, like the sun that had slowly grown dimmer. He looked at you so intensely, as if trying to see past the mask you wore. Perhaps he could feel it too - the familiarity despite the centuries that had passed since that terrible night... There were no words uttered, simply a comfortable and understanding silence. Slowly he closed his tired eyes and let himself rest in your protective arms while he slept for the first time in a long, long while. Carefully you ran your fingers through his messy yet soft hair, making him even more relaxed. You wondered what he dreamed about...
Soon the moon began setting in the horizon and the sun rose on the other side, making this night come to an end. Reluctantly you let go of the Yaksha as you faded and returned to your solitude in the sky. He seemed to be feeling better after his much needed rest, but it was still regretful to leave him without a word. Perhaps it was better this way...
The Archon War was long past, but making yourself known to the world could have dire consequences... The Heavens and Celestia were very much still there. While another war sounded too outlandish to simply get rid of you, but having you hunted down and executed was a terrifying possibility. From what you'd heard and seen, some of the Seven had given away their Gnoses and thus severing their ties to Celestia, but something demanded by the Heavens wasn't easily ignored by anyone.
Still, after everything - could you truly go back to being a mere spectator in hiding for a millenia or however long you had left simply because they were aware you were still alive? You had no true way of knowing what the Heavens and Celestia were thinking or how they would react. After such a long and lonely life, the risk of not living if you returned was more worth it than living in hiding all alone forever.
You descended back to your home world, leaving your solitude beyond the sky without a soul living on it. For the first time in centuries you could feel the earth beneath your exposed feet and the cool night wind blowing lazily, causing your clothing and veil to move along. The smell of the marsh, grass and earth filling your lungs - while not an extremely pleasant smell you wouldn't trade it for anything.
The sound of approaching footsteps didn't escape your notice, you were simply didn't want to let the moment come to an end. You finally turned around to look at the approaching person to see someone unexpected yet familiar - someone you were hoping to see. He seemed distracted like you to not notice you at first and you almost burst into laughter from the double take he had to make after noticing you. His mouth was left slightly agape from the shock and you stared at each other in silence before you finally let out a faint chuckle from it all.
He watched intensly like before as you brought your hand up to slowly remove the mask stopping him from recognizing you, his sun colored eyes following your every move with a sharp gaze. You didn't know if he would still remember or recognize after all these years, but you couldn't blame him if he didn't... His breath hitched as you finally revealed your face all for him to see, his eyes flipping through emotion after emotion, but you could see a hint of recognizion in them.
“I didn't get to introduce myself last time. Hello, Conqueror of Demons.” You smiled. “I suspect we have much to talk about, especially with him.”

Genshin Impact Cosplay Xiao's hanfu (2023)
For my hanfu for Xiao I made three pieces: the double tassel (faux) pearl necklace, the changshan (长衫), and the beizi (褙子, bèi zǐ). Here are all the nitty gritty details on how I went about this design, things I loved, and things I'd change up. You can find more photos and a story highlight of my process on my Instagram mushkin_changeling.

Reference Photos and Notes
Fashion and history and culture are all of great interest to me, and I knew that I wanted to start moving my cosplays towards hanfu designs and elements. You can read more about my internalized sinophobia and how that affected my cosplays in this Instagram post.
I spent so much time staring at Xiao's in game outfit trying to figure out what elements I was could translate into hanfu. Before this cosplay I had never worn hanfu. I was born in China but raised by white parents who did not dedicate much time or energy in ensuring I had access to knowledge about my culture.
The elements I picked at first for Xiao's hanfu were
His weird shoulder armor -> black yunjian (云肩) with gold enbroidery
Purple neck scarf (back) -> Yunjian ribbons
His necklace -> Chinese tassel necklace
Asymmetrical sleeve -> long flowing outer blue coat with gold embroidery
Pink tabbard/waist cloth -> a blue mamian with an embroidered pink design for the front
Tumblr media
Looking at all of these elements I knew what I was going for was a hanfu ensemble from the Ming dynasty. I spent a lot of time looking at photos, reading pages, and educating myself on hanfu. I was even able to give a very introductory presentation about hanfu at Momocon 2023! You can read my slides at this link: Hanfu History 101 slides
I made a really ambitious plan for his hanfu that I had to cut back on due to energy and time constraints (did I mention that during the construction time I was moving, defending my thesis, and transitioning to my PhD program?!?)
Due to these constraints I ended up purchasing a mamian. I bought my mamian from Etsy (the store is OrientalBigbang and the link is here). I love my mamian. In fact I love it so much I wore it to my master's graduation ceremony!
Tumblr media
It doesn't have the pink embroidery on it that i wanted but I knew going in that the level of customization I wanted would only be possibly from a commissioned mamian or if I made it myself. I was still very happy with how the mamian looked and felt.
Changshan (inner top)
Xiao's in game outfit is a weird tanktop with embroidery on it and a single detached sleeve. I decided to emulate this with a changshan. Most of the reference photos I found on DuckDuckGo showed asymmetrical changshan but a few were symmetrical, which I wanted. This is the photo I referenced most often.

Tumblr media
I ended up picking this kind of cream off white fabric (all of my fabrics were thrifted bedsheets). I bought these closures off of Amazon and really loved their color. (link here)

Tumblr media
Lots of the sides of a changshan are tied together rather than sewn which was fun and interesting. I ended up sewing a lot of small rectangular tubes for ties. I also didn't measure the armpit area quite right before cutting (measure twice, cut once, fuck up and make do) so that area is tied together rather than sewn.
Tumblr media
Overall I really like the look and feel of the changshan. I didn't end of doing any embroidery. The collar didn't come out quite symmetrical which irritates me but I was pleased with the overall look and feel of it. I would go back and alter some of it to make it more polished or upgraded, but I don't hate it. I even felt confident enough in it to spend a lot of my con day wandering around in the changshan and mamian because Atlanta is hot goddamn.
Tumblr media
Beizi (outer coat)
I actually made Xiao's game outfit in 2022, from scratch. My favourite bit was his singular sleeve which has a kind of swirling design on it. I hoped to capture that element with an embroidered beizi. I picked a light sort of cornflower blue for my beizi and a lilac for the collar (to emulate the purple neck scarf his in game outfit has).
(Photo credit: Donald aka hustographyphoto on Instagram from Momocon 2022)
Tumblr media
I had big aspirations for the beizi's embroidery. I really wanted to design and embroider Peng (Chinese mythological fish bird). There are a few reference images from DuckDuckGo (very popular one is below) and I sketched a few ideas. The idea was to embroider the Peng on the left sleeve for Xiao's tattoo. This was another detail that I was excited about that I unfortunately had to ditch.
Tumblr media
I was able to embroider some things though! I picked osmanthus flowers ("Osmanthus wine tastes the same as I remember, but where are those who share the memory?") and peonies, because they're symbolic in Chinese culture and also my favourite.
Tumblr media
I loved the embroidery part of this cosplay the most. It was such a wonderful tactile craft that combined my love of sketching and sewing.
I also lined the beizi with a plain cotton sheet. I thought this was a good idea (I love how a lined costume looks and feels) but it actually made the beizi a little heavy. That was not fun in the Atlanta summer heat.
Tumblr media
Twin Tassel Necklace
I found a strand of cream colored faux pearls at my local queer clothing swap and thought they were perfect for my twin tassel necklace. I mostly based it off of the below reference photo (photo credit: Nuwa Hanfu) and the general look of Xiao's in game necklace.
Tumblr media
This is what I ended up with. I don't hate it but I also don't love it. This was the last thing I made in the cosplay so my energy and time were running short and I think that's apparent in the overall look of this piece.
(Photo credit: Donald aka hustographyphoto on Instagram from Momocon 2023)
Tumblr media
Things I'd Change Up
I would change the beizi's colors to be pure white with decoration, instead of the sky blue I chose. I shied away from crisp whites for two reasons: they're hard to keep clean and I didn't want it to be a funeral outfit. After Momocon 2023 I realised that Xiao is literally Edge Boy Supreme and his story and character are steeped in mourning, death, and grief, so white would have been a perfect color.
I would have thrifted less bedsheets. The hanfu overall had very little texture because the fabrics I chose were plain cotton. In the future I'll aim for more texture (more common in curtain fabric) or I'll buy at a fabric store.
I would make a yunjian (云肩) like I had originally planned. I had wanted to hand embroider a cloud collar (black with gold thread) but ran out of energy and time before I got around to it. I would add that element to my next iteration of this costume because it reflects Xiao's in game outfit really well (he has this weird black shoulder/neck armor).
I would reconstruct the necklace entirely. Because I was working with one long strand that i looped to make two layers around my neck it never lay flat and looked a bit less put together. I would cut the strand and remake the necklace entirely next time. The necklace might even be unnecesarry with the yunjian, so I would probably more likely incorporate the beads into the yunjian.
I would dedicate more time to actually fulfill all of my embroidery dreams! I would embroider the Peng, add designs to the collar of the beizi, etc.
Ending Notes
I hope this doesn't sound dreary or like I'm disappointed in my cosplay. I am so incredibly proud of myself and this creation. I have been slowly finding my way back into my love of costumes and sewing and this is the project that helped. It is incredible to blend my love of history and research with my culture and cosplay.
I hope to return to this cosplay and make improvements! I hope to continue to branch out with my love of hanfu and apply it to some cosplays (I'm looking at you Baizhu). Thank you to everyone who told me they loved my cosplay, who attended my panel, and made my con and cosplay a wonderful experience.
